    Tofu Korma

After church service (was subjected to distracting loud talkers all throughout the service...who does that?), my wife and I continued our practice of eating out for lunch we brought over from Texas. We were originally planning on checking out The Great Greek but The Flame was featured on Yelp when I opened the app, so we pivoted and went there instead. I guess being featured on Yelp actually works to drive in more business! Tucked in a BP gas station, albeit a different door to the restaurant but shares the bathrooms with the gas station, this place is easy to miss if you're not looking for it. As we walked in, the place was actually appointed quite nicely. We were seated promptly and given menus. My wife ordered the Tofu Korma ($18.99, mild) and I ordered their Chicken Tikka Masala ($19.99, medium heat). We also ordered Garlic Naan ($4.99). The entrees came with basmati rice. We were also served complimentary papadums with 3 different dipping sauces. My wife liked her tofu korma...although she, having shellfish allergies, had a mild reaction later on which we can only attribute to possible cross contamination with shellfish in the sauce. My chicken tikka masala had good flavors and spice level was just right, perhaps 6 to 6.5 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being too spicy to be edible. My wife's mild spiciness was probably a 2 to 2.5. All in all, we thought our dining experience was satisfactory. Service was efficient but impersonal/detached. For food alone, we would give this place 4 stars. While the value was better than Amrit's, we thought our experience at Amrit's was better...better service and ambience. Lunch for 2 came out to just over $55 with tip.

Wow! What a fantastic restaurant, absolutely delicious food, and wonderful hospitality! Well decorated little restaurant that you could easily miss but never should because you'll be missing out big time. Siddhesh is usually our waiter and does an amazing job taking care of his guests and being attentive to any needs they have. If you have a question about any item on the menu or that you don't see on the menu, he will be able to give you advice and they can even potentially make off menu items or tweak what they currently have just for you. If you like Indian food, I highly recommend you check this place out!

Was looking for Indian cuisine food options and came across other yelp reviews for this place. Decided to give it a try. This place is literally in the gas station! While the restaurant maybe next to the gas station cashier, the entrance to the restaurant is the BP gas station! If you get to Chilis, you've gone too far! I would say that the decor is more like a diner. Service was good although the waiter was a little curt! We were presented with a complimentary papadum with onion chutney, mint and tamarind. Tasted great. Off to a good start. We ordered lamb biryani, chettinard shrimp and aloo ghobi as well as some buttered naan. Prices were similar to big city (NY, San Francisco or Chicago) which was a surprise especially for Ocala. However, the taste profile of the dishes were disappointing. The naan was a little over cooked so it was dry. The biryani had lots of rice but very little meat. We thought the flavor was a little bland. We requested a spicy chettinard but it was very mild and lacked oomph/umami. Got a good taste at first but finished rather flat. The aloo ghobi needed salt or something. It too was flat. Sadly I would not be coming back again nor would I recommend this place. Too pricey and the portions were small relative to price. Did not meet the flavor of big city restaurants.

Just fantastic, the flavors are so savory. New favorite Indian spot. We ordered the chicken makhni butter chicken, truly awesome and the chefs lamb dish, masskesool masal another great dish. Enjoyed the to the fullest. Yes it's next to a gas station but so what, the good is top notch and better than fancy places. Enjoy

Really great for the price! Convenient location! I ordered kimchi fried noodles, which is odd for an Indian restaurant, but they were absolutely delicious, buttered, chicken, and goat vindaloo. All were spicy as ordered and delicious! I ordered take out but the restaurant looked nice inside.

The Flame never disappoints! The butter chicken was absolutely amazing rich, creamy, perfectly spiced, and full of flavor in every bite. It paired so well with the rice and naan. And the mojito? So refreshing and perfectly balanced not too sweet, just crisp and fresh. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and everything felt high quality. Definitely one of my favorite spots I'll be coming back for that butter chicken again!

So glad to find another delicious Indian food place in Ocala! Definitely a hidden gem connected to the bp gas station. Visited on Friday night, seated right away. The food was spot on, the chili garlic naan is definitely spicy so for those that can't take spice definitely do just plain or garlic naan. Curry is super flavorful. The place was decorated with flames per their store name, and clean, easy parking shared with the gas station. Would definitely recommend.

The atmosphere is beautiful and I always feel like I have walked into a different kind dining experience. It's relaxing and a lot nicer than many of the local restaurants around here. I feel that it has a quiet nuanced feel that is simply elegant. I ordered the Create your own course because I wanted more. I was in time for the lunch special that they serve Tuesday-Thursday from 11-3 but that wasn't what I was looking for. When coming here I just wanted to enjoy my idea of the meal I can create. The create your own course is just that and for $40.99 you receive an "appetizer, entree, dessert served with two sides, naan or tandoori roti and sauce. If you would like an additional entree and two sides it's only an additional $16.99. Extremely reasonable for the amount of food you receive and how well the food is prepared and the service you get here. My favorite is the Chicken Vindaloo which is Chicken, chili, tomato and it has a little coconut in it. It's a spicy dish but a little tangy too. I love that the heat is flavorful and not overpowering that you cannot taste all the spices in the dish. The tandoori roti I enjoy thoroughly it pairs very well with this dish, I've had the Peshawari naan which is filled with cherries, coconut flakes, cashews and raisins and this is so different and delicious more of a dessert you must try too. I also had the chick pea salad and this is a mix of chick peas, lettuce, red onion, cherry tomatoes and cilantro. Nothing out of this world but refreshing. Last time I was here I had the Samosa Chaat for a starter it was so good! It's a potato turnover with chickpeas layered with chopped onions, yogurt, tamarind, mint chutney, and so flavorful! The Dal soup is also very nice it's a smooth mild soup made with yellow split pea lentils, some ginger and just the right amount of garlic. So many choices here and I'll keep coming back so I can be sure to try everything in the menu at least a few times! I have had dessert and I really enjoyed this as well wanting to try something different than I can get in most restaurants so I tried the Gulab Jamun that is a deep fried dumpling soaked in a sweet syrup that is infused with rose water and coconut. I don't know what to expect but I absolutely loved this and it wasn't as sweet as I thought it might be it was very pleasant and a mild flavor but truly delicious! Other than the food , the service is always really nice here, it's just a very nice experience coming to Amrit you feel lot's of peace and tranquility while dining. Highly recommend visiting Amrit you will not be disappointed! When walking in, they had some old school Bollywood music videos. My order was taking quickly and I waited for about 10 minutes for my order. Once I got home, the food was still piping hot. I ordered the chana masala, which comes with basmati rice, and an order of samosas. The samosas were perfectly cooked and seasoned. They had a hint of spice but tolerable. The two sauces - tamarind and chutney were so good with the samosas. I wish I ordered more. The chana masala was very tasty, I went with medium heat since it was first time eating here. The spice was really good, I could've went hotter though. The masala was buttery and delightful. I could've drank the sauce it was that good. The chickpeas were cooked perfectly as well. The flavor profile of the dish was tangy but creamy. I wish I had some chicken tikka to throw in there. Overall a great take out meal and great portion sizes where you can stretch out these meals.

Following a visit to the labyrinthian VA facility in Gainesville, my wife and I were considering…read morelunch options. In looking at Yelp, we were drawn to the Indian Street Food place. Located along a building with another Indian restaurant and market and even a Vietnamese restaurant, this place has plenty of parking and quite spacious inside. We love Indian food and are always open to trying out new restaurants. We have not been to India (on the list of countries we plan on visiting) so not familiar with the street food on their menu so we opted for the more familiar options. My wife ordered the Butter Chicken combo ($20.99) and I tried one of the chef's specials, Bhatti Ka Murg combo. The combo came with basmati rice, butter naan and a desert called Gulab Jamun. My wife's combo also came with a samosa. The butter chicken was good...that sauce, which turned out to be the same sauce for the bhatti ka murg, was full of flavor. The naan was OK...nothing special and we've had much better naan. The rice serving was a bit chintzy. The desert was OK. My dish had decent flavor but definitely better dipped in that sauce. Having to content with bones from chicken thigh meat and drum stick meant I had to work for it but not too bad. While our meals had good flavors, we thought flavors and portions we had at Amrit Palace in Ocala were just as good if not better with more generous portions. We would often have leftover food to take home after a meal at Amrit. Lunch for 2 with tip was just under $54.

We stopped by recently and were blown away by how flavorful everything was--from the first bite to the last. What We Ordered: *Andhra Masala Dosa This dosa was perfection--thin, crisp edges with a hearty, spicy potato filling that hit all the right notes. The accompanying sambar and chutneys were fresh and full of depth. Truly reminded me of the kind you'd get back home or from a proper street stall in India. *Vada Golden, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside--these savory lentil fritters were served piping hot and paired beautifully with the coconut chutney. Comfort food at its finest. *Cut Mirchi A spicy, crunchy treat that packed a punch. These fried green chilies are not for the faint-hearted, but if you love heat and texture, you'll absolutely enjoy this one. Service & Vibe: The service was friendly and efficient. Food came out quickly, and the staff were helpful in explaining the dishes. The space is simple and unpretentious--exactly what you'd expect from a spot focused on delivering street-style flavor.
