Cool concept, and different from everything else in the loop. I paid $6.50 for a very little "Potato Tava" wrap and three tiny samosas - not what I'd call a great deal, but decent. The wrap was a little on the dry side, and the taste was just OK. The samosas came with a very small amount of sauce. I'll probably be back again, but only after they've expanded their menu to have more vegetarian options, and maybe have regular-size wraps. This place is ingenious. I love Indian food, and this was such a great find for a quick and cheap on-the-go lunch. Their menu is simple with only about 6 choices of wraps, but it doesn't matter because the choices they have are all you need, and are quite delicious. The samosas are probably the best I've ever had- the spices are yummy and you get three smaller ones in an order so they always have that crunchy bite unlike the bigger ones you get in a full-scale restaurant. My favorite so far is the cheese paneer wrap, although I'm looking forward to trying the steak and the lamb options. For a quick lunch, this has become my new favorite place downtown. 3.5 stars. Pretty good fast Indian in the Loop, and pleasantly not Chipotle-style. The salad with lamb was excellent. The helpful staff guy let me do a rice bowl with half chicken tikka and half chicken reshmi. The rice itself was underwhelming, but the chicken was pretty good (I thought the reshmi was significantly better than the tikka). I have had many great sandwiches in my life time but when I had a wrap/ beef. I honestly knew that I had to have another one very very soon. The spicy food I ordered was delicious and the service was excellent. If there was a way for me to give Bombay Wraps 10 stars this would be a no brainer. I've been to Bombay wraps only two times within the past 3 years and it's still tastes delicious. I actually had a lamb curry salad which might be a staple food choice for me. Good wraps. Good prices... a small but sufficient selection. Answers the cravings for inexpensive Indian food in downtown at lunch. Minus any real competition from another Indian wrap place in downtown Chicago (the closest that competes for my palate is Benjy - or another Middle Easter place), there are no other appropriate benchmarks. Food tastes close to one of the north Indian wraps places in India, and is far superior to the poseur that Chutney Joe's is. Yes, the selection is limited, the bread is not made piping fresh - but I cannot see how they could do this any other way. Long lines - so they seem to finally be doing it right. I remember there being another Indian take away in the same spot some years back, but was not motivated to go there again. I love this place and I am glad there is a spot for indian street food in the loop. I like that the menu is pretty small, so you aren't milling over 200 choices during the lunch rush. I usually get the Chicken Tikka and the Chickpea Chana wrap. You can get your wrap spicy or not, but I recomend going for the heat. It has depreciated in quality in the last 1 year. We ordered chicken tikka masala wrap and chicken reshmi wrap. Both were terrible. I think the chefs are confused between a Mexican burrito and an Indian wrap. couldn't eat after a couple of bites. There isn't a much better way to describe this place as simply delicious. Simple menu, simple food, but delectable wraps. Wraps are small, and filled with smokey, flavorful meat. I love their fries, as I have a weakness for those of the sweet potato variety. They are also served with what seems like some sort of spicy ketchup. My only complaint is their hours. My boyfriend kept trying to take me here because he was raving about their fries, and they always seemed to be closed! But, a lot of businesses in the area seem to close pretty early, so they don't lose any points for that. read more

For some reason I thought I had reviewed B-Dubs already. As an Indian I'm pleasantly surprised a place like this is possible with Indian food. Almost like a street cart but with an actual location attached to the ground. The Chicken Tikka wrap (spicy of course) is incredible and I've eaten around 100 of them in the like 6 months. I also get an order of the 3 samosas and with green chutney the combination becomes killer. I order lunches for the office and make sure BW is a regular. Not the go to place for my Indian food cravings for lunch but there aren't many options in downtown. I tried their paneer on the rice and the spicy version was pretty spicy. It was a crumbled cheese sauce on bed of rice and a little refreshing in place of the cubes of paneer in same makhni sauce. Go a block further for samosas to naansense coz the ones here aren't the good stuff. Masala chai is sweetened already even if the cashier told me otherwise. Typical fast food counter set up. For a quick Indian craving, this is a great spot. Very affordable and the other is done pretty quickly. Since I've first gone, I've had a rice bowl and wraps and the Tikka and lamb curry were my favorites. Tons of flavor and very savory. Tikka gets kind of messy but it's definitely worth it. Make sure to ask for all of the sauces if you get samosas because each person's got a different favorite. When I called to let them know of the mistake and make sure the order was going to also show up on the correct day (today), the girl said she would talk to her manager and then hung up on me. I called again this morning to confirm and got the same girl, she rudely just said "Someone already called yesterday." I told her yes, that was me, and I was just looking for a solid confirmation. I didn't appreciate the attitude, especially since this was completely an error on the restaurant's end. OMG, there is a party in my mouth!!! So I really wanted saag paneer (spinach w/ indian spices & cubed cheese), which is my favorite dish however, on my one-hour lunch break in the Loop, it seemed almost impossible to find something fast & not crazy expensive. I found Bombay Wraps on Yelp, chose my wrap preference, (even though I really wasn't in a mood for a wrap cuz i thought it might be too heavy for today), & took the walk over. I'm so glad I did! Not only was the attendant very nice but the food was totally worth the trek over. Their spicy sauce is actually spicy and the wrap is light even though filled with cheese so I don't expect to have a food coma in the next few hours & not feel like a cow. I grabbed a mango lassi which is also hella tasty & spent under $9 for lunch which can be tricky in the Loop. My only reccomendation is that they open up another location closer to DePaul by Jackson & State - we've been hurting for another Indian restaurant ever since they closed Chutney Joes on State (which was overpriced anyway). I first tried Bombay wraps on the week they opened and they were a complete mess. Also I thought the food did not provide value for money. I decided to try it again now that they are more well established. I have to say that it was a most disappointing experience and left me hungry. The wraps themselves do not lack flavor at all. However the pricing and the meager amount of filling in the wraps makes you wonder if the place is run by accountants. You need at least 3 wraps to feel like you had some food and the amount of oil in the wraps themselves makes that a very unhealthy meal. Also, the way they are priced sets your expectations much higher than what you get. The loop has so many places that gives you double the amount of quality Indian food for the same price. It's a wonder these guys have managed to survive. read more

My husband and i gave these wraps a try since it had so many good reviews and i am glad we did. The wraps or as we call it 'roll parathas' back home are incredible. I ate in here for the first time about few months ago. I super love the food that I ate in here. If I remember it right, I got the chicken tikka rice bowl which has a nice portion with fresh veggies, perfectly cooked rice and of course the chicken which is tender and full of flavor. I love their chicken tikka rice bowl because it has a really great flavor, I know that Indian food has a lot of seasoning and spices and I definitely love it. I also love their samosas. I ate samosas before and this is definitely the best that I had. I also like it better with its dip and it gives extra flavor and goodness to the samosas. I am planning to be back in her soon if I have time. Their food is great and also, they have different and other good Indian food options. The place is clean and the atmosphere and vibe is cool and cozy. Their staff is nice and friendly who kindly recommended me their chicken tikka which I am grateful for until now. Prices are fair too. Had a chance to go into this place last week as one of my peers frequents this place. First off, the wrap is NOT a NAAN. It is a Paratha and one of the worst ones. It is pre-cooked (and pre-packaged, read loaded with trans-fat) dripping with oil. You might as well have a spoonful of butter. Secondly the chicken portions are way too small. A hotdog has more meat than what they give you. The wrap itself is a joke. Third, the chicken is flavorless (We had tikka, reshmi kabab & Paneer). The cilantro chutney is very watery and is never meant to be used (or poured on a wrap). I am from UK and have had damn good S. Asian food all my life. This was a joke. This weekend, I took couple of those buddies to the suburbs (Schaumburg) and had them eat the Tikka (Dry & with Gravy) and genuine baked Naans. They realized what they were missing. Like...the kind of rotis you can just get from the freezer of any Indian grocery store. The presentation is awful and you need $10 to get full. I had 2 wraps and a drink and it was $12! So good! I went with coworkers for the first time and was very happy with my lunch. I had a chicken tikka wrap with a side of sweet potatoe fries. The fries were crispy and very well seasoned. I was sad when I came to the bottom of the bag. The chicken tikka wrap was very nicely seasoned as well and the cilantro sauce they put on top was just the perfect touch. The only reason why I am going 4 stars instead of 5 is that the portions are very small. As a giant fat man, I should have ordered about 3 wraps along with the sweet potatoe fries. I just finished eating and will need to eat again in an hour or two. Portions aside, this is an extremely delicous and fast lunch. I would recomend this for anyone who loves Indian food. I ended up having to eat the reshmi wrap at home because I took my food to go but didnt want everyone on the train to get grossed out since it was rush hour. The wrap was flavorless. So boring. It's delicious! Been coming here for years, since college. I love it. The bread is amazing and the paneer roll is divine. Make sure to add on habanero! Would not recommend getting delivery, though. Just had the Chicken Reshmi and Chicken Tikka wraps for lunch. The Tikka (spicy) is good, but not that spicy. The Reshmi is kinda blah. I really want to like them. They do have potential to get repeat business from me. But what killed them is their value. Let me explain. These wraps are tiny! They're like the size of a Taco Bell soft taco, except these wraps cost $4 each! This is great if you're a lady watching her figure. But if you're a moderately hungry guy, you'll need like 3 or 4 of these plus a drink to fill you up. Bombay Wraps came to our apartment building under the Fooda program. The only thing I had were their samosas, but they were literally the worst samosas I've ever had. Undercooked with a tasteless vegetable filling inside, and for $3 a piece! Great Breakfast....I stopped by the other morning and discovered this little jem....or should I say ruby?? Anyways their breakfast/ eggs are flavorful and reasonable priced. This place is OK in a pinch but nothing about this place is authentic by any means. The paratha's here are pre-made frozen, oily and of cheep quality. The quality of the food here is inconsistent in my opinion. This week, I went there 2 days in a row and got 2 wraps on each day and a soup each time. On the 1st day I got a chicken tikka wrap and a paneer wrap along with a soup. The chicken wrap was a bit dry but edible, the paneer was rubbery but the lentil soup was pretty decent. On the second day, I got a couple of the potato tava wraps. The potato masala was not seasoned properly and the skin was still on the potato's. I also got the lentil soup again which was still good but this time only half the cup was filled. I paid for a full cup and only got 1/2 a cup. Also don't bother with their lassis. I got both the mango and strawberry and they were both overly sweet and tasted very artificial. read more
