Being from India, I really miss the amount of street food and fast food options I was accustomed to. The wraps you get here are similar to what you'd call a Kati roll or a Frankie in India. I've been here many times now and I've always gotten a chicken wrap - either the tikka or the Reshmi. Both are good but they don't exactly look like how they're shown in the pictures on their website. Regardless of how they look, they taste just fine. I do agree with the other folks who commented on the portion size. I'd suggest maybe revising the price by a dollar or so for a bigger sized wrap. I tried the cheese paneer with salad today and it cost me about $9.50. I found that pricey for a salad at the time of purchase but 7 hours later, I'll still super full! There aren't many Indian fast food type places around but this one is definitely worth a try if you haven't tried it before. As my problem was with the service and not the food, I've revised my review to reflect my most recent experience. The food is pretty delicious (and I say this as an Indian), and I definitely enjoyed the sauces and the vegetarian options. A lot of companies have been trying to invent the 'Indian Chipotle', and this place does offer fast Indian fusion food. I wouldn't necessarily call it authentic, but it is tasty and a great lunch option. HOWEVER, I'm vegetarian (and mentioned this clearly as I ordered the two veggie wraps), and when I got back I realized - after biting in - that I'd been given lamb instead. I was so disappointed and angry that I trekked back to the restaurant to get a replacement, and received only a cursory apology, without even the offer of a discount or refund or anything else. Yummers. I've read some of the yelps and beg to differ on the portions. For $6.99, a wrap, samosas, and a fountain drink is just the right amount. I think to expect Chipotle sized portions is just true glouttany at its finest and wished that I had options for smaller portions so I don't overeat. This was perfect. I'm I the only person underwhelmed by this place? It was way too expensive for a plain paneer bhaji wrapped in a chapati (because they ran out of paratha two customers before me and didn't bother to tell me the bread switched!). They pretty much messed up every part of my order. Onions when I said none. No cilantro chutney when I asked for it. Made it to go when I said for here. It was tasty, but I could make similar at home and bring it for work at half the price and I would make sure it had veggies in it. Couldn't they just add some vegetables to their wraps? This place is awesome. I've only been there once but I am already looking forward to going back again. For around $10, you can get 2 tasty wraps or a wrap and samosas. I had the vegetarian and the paneer wrap and both were delicious. I wasn't brave enough to try the spicy sauce but the mild had a pretty good kick. Maybe I'll go for spicy when it's a little colder out. And if you eat in, they play Bollywood music videos on the TV which are super entertaining. Gotta say, the reshmi wrap is pretty tasty and a good size for$4.50. I was pleasantly surprised by the richness, and the wrapping being made out of a paratha really brought it home. The spicy chutney is pretty hot though so be warned! Think I've found my new go-to fast food joint in the loop. read more

Do not come here if you want a quick lunch. I have went twice. The first time at 12:10 where it took 40 minutes to order and receive my food. There was a long line that went outside. The second time at 11:05 where there was one person in front of me and it still took 15 mintues when the actual time to make the wrap is under a minute. The food is good, but you have to eat it when its hot. The second time I went I had to wait 10 minutes between my wraps and the first one was cold and not good by the time I got back to the office. The lamb curry is very good and worth the extra $1 premium for the combo. The chicken tika is better than the reshmi but both are tender and juicy. The tika has more flavor. If you are trying to compare it to a kathi roll, the ones in NY are better. They are faster, open later, and have more options. Oh, I was fine eating one wrap but they aren't big so grab two if you are really hungry! read more

Man, these wraps are tiny!!! Even with the 8$ for 10$ deal through yelp, I couldn't help but leave feeling underwhelmed. I love Indian food (both "americanize" and hardcore root versions), but was very disappointed with Bombay. Had one of each, lamb and chicken tikka. Flavors were modest in the sense that the meal did not satisfy my craving for Indian food; frankly, do I need to load it up with spices for taste? It was simply "whatever." I'd heard really good things about Bombay wraps, so I decided to try it out. I'm torn between giving them a 2 or a 3, and the reason why I give them a 2 is because I'm feeling mixed about how often I'll return for lunch. I probably will for the price, but I didn't think the food was that amazing and I was still a little hungry after eating my wrap. I ordered the chicken tikka wrap (which had good spices and onions) and my friend and I split the sweet potato fries and salad (which, for $2, was only a couple lettuce leaves and cucumber slices...nothing great). The sweet potato fries were OK, they were not very hot and they do not compare to other sweet potato fries I've had (most notably, DMK's). All in all, a decent lunch place for the price, but I don't plan on returning soon. read more

I enjoyed my first experience at Bombay Wraps. I'm giving it three stars because I got a salad (though by the look of the wraps those looked better). On top of my salad I got chicken tikka which was very good, but they didn't put that much chicken on it. Because I felt like the meal was a little light, I added a side of samosas to my meal and those were very good. Without the samosas, however, I still would've felt hungry because of the somewhat small salad. I definitely would come back! read more

So good and authentic! I was really craving Indian food and made a stop here, and it reminded me of the rolls my mom used to make for me. I got the Chicken Tikka with onions and it was absolutely delicious and actually spicy. My only complain is that the roti (wrap) was way too small for the amount of filling, so it was impossible to eat it on the go. I feel like that's part of the appeal of this place, so larger rotis would be good. Stop in between 3-6 on weekdays (or maybe just Thursdays?? not sure) for happy hour aka 20% off! This place is a must try if you are in the area for a quick Indian food! The food was freshly cooked and mildly flavoured. With the sides of chutney and salad made a good meal for me. The portion of raita was minuscule - I wish they had given me a bit more. The staff looked very disinterested and don't care types. Having grown up in Bombay, I can safely say that this was the closest thing to true Bombay style mouthwatering food I've tasted in the U.S. Super affordable, fast, and extremely delicious. I was excited to try an Indian fast food place. First one in Chicago i think. I went in there excited to possibly have a new fav lunch option since i work in the Loop. I just wish my experience eating there was remotely close to my expectations. Here are my pros and cons: Pros: First quasi fast food indian restaurant They have Thumbs Up (like dr. pepper) Cons: Super small wrap. I would need about 3-4 of those and at 4.99 each... ehh bring me to second con.. Super expensive. For a tiny panner wrap, 3 tiny samosas, 1 thumbs up my bill was over $10... that is absurd! Food was bland and the actual wrap (paratha) was horrible. They should have gone with a nan or a roti. Food also didn't really taste indian, i don't know what kind of mild and boring spices they used, but there is no need to tone down the flavor. Most people can handle some spice now days. No rice options, no sauce variety.. nothing. Well i don't think i'll be returning there ever again, but hey its got to start somewhere. Hopefully there will be more indian fast food palces in the near future... and hopefully somebody will get it right. There is so much potential... unfortunately bombay wraps might be wrapping it up in the near future... b/c i can't imagine people will put up with the bland overpriced food for too much longer... ah well. read more

Yay! My first Review!! Came across Bombay Wraps today while looking for something different from the usual Goodwins or Mac Kellys...I love Indian food, so thought I'd give it a whirl. Reasonable prices, set up for quick service, some tables for dining in and televisions to drone out your boring co-worker... So about the food and service. Clearly, they are not ready for the loop lunch rush. At 12:30, they were not prepared, having to prep chicken for the Chicken Tikka (probably the most popular menu item, but still, running out in the middle of the lunch rush?) and slice steak for the Steak Boti dish, which of course, I ordered...until the bald sweating guy came to slice the steak. Something about being able to see the beads of sweat on his brow as he hastily chopped away at the beef didn't quite appeal to me. And the menu says the steak is dry rubbed... Anyhow, I changed to the chicken Reshmi, sans sweat. It was pretty mild, as most people's palate is not quite ready for real Indian food. Also ordered a side of samosas. The samosas were good, and it all came with a side of cilantro chutney. This was a good addition. Overall, it was moderately tasty, but kind of greasy. The whole thing was less than 7 bucks. Good deal. Unfortunately, I could have used a bit more. It just wasn't substantial enough for me. So I give it a 'meh' because the food was decent, but it loses stars partially on lack of substance and mostly on the unsanitary workers behind the counter. In fact, if there is one thing that irks me more than a screwed up order (which they didn't do...), it's unsanitary workers behind the counter. This is common sense people! Hopefully the folks in charge get a handle on this and get some skull caps for the employees with the overractive sudoriferous glands. Actually, most of the other employees were wearing baseball caps. Why wasn't this guy? I am writing this review right after eating a wrap from this restaurant. Chose it due to proximity to the office. The food was passable, but overall I am disappointed. I would advise against eating at this establishment. Taste: 2.5 / 5 I got the Chicken Reshmi Wrap. The bread was greasy, but this was to be expected. The chicken, after several bites, turned out to be slightly pink and undercooked. On its own, the meat was devoid of flavor. It was just white chicken meat. All of the flavor came exclusively from the green cilantro sauce that comes with everything. Seriously. You literally can take their sauce and make your own wrap using undercooked chicken and pita - it would be about the same. Portion Size: 1 / 5 This is where the establishment truly lost me as a customer. The wrap is TINY. It is the tiniest wrap I have ever had, anywhere. I'm not a big guy and definitely do not need large food portions, but this was laughably small for the price. I honestly thought it was a joke for a few seconds, and that my real wrap was at the bottom of the bag. You're better off buying a hotdog as it is larger, more filling, and cheaper. Also, my wrap should have come with a "medley of vegetables" and a "creamy yoghurt sauce" but barely had any of either. I don't need a ton of sauce or veggies, but this was ridiculous. Skimping on the size and ingredients . . . The only sauce I really noticed was the green cilantro that goes on everything anyway. The wrap was TINY to begin with, and for the price, I feel robbed. If I could, I would post pictures. I would need at least 2 more wraps to feel remotely satisfied. I don't know how some reviewers defend the size of the food - you really cannot justify it at the current price point, especially with so many cheaper, bigger and tastier alternatives nearby. It's okay to have small wraps, but not okay to rip me off for them. Location / Decoration: 4 / 5 The only thing this place has going for it is its downtown location and a bright, fresh interior. So good. I really love the food here. Delicious and fresh. Pretty much everything on the menu is good, haven't been disappointed with anything that I have tried, be it the kati rolls or the fries or the samosas. The only thing that keeps me from giving them a 5 star rating or going back for more is that they are a little on the expensive side for the portion size. My co-worker loves Indian food, so we decided to check this place out based on Yelp reviews.We've been there about thrice in the last couple of months. The ups : The location, the prices, the samosas. The downs: The Paneer(cheese) tikka wrap, the lackluster service, the space. My opinion is biased because I've only tried the paneer wrap. I've heard that the aloo tava wrap is absolutely delicious. But if you've ever had a Bombay frankie, you'll know what's missing in the Paneer wrap. The wrap makers? are very friendly and helpful but the owner always seems frazzled and irritated. It would do her business a lot of good if she smiled once in a while.
