I've slowly had to stop going to Bombshell because their prices are not true to their website. Whenever I go I am charged more than is listed, and when I looked at my last receipt from there I was charged extra money for a wash and dry when I was only getting my bangs trimmed. I usually say no to a receipt, but I'm finally glad I asked for one because I had no idea they were charging me for that when they are cutting my bangs dry. I tried one more time and I went in for a bang trim that was listed as $9 on their site. When I go up to pay I am told $14. I asked why it was this much because it said that the person i booked with charged $9 online. The person I'm checking out with then tells me that it says they charge $10 on their tablet. I then say again, "okay, it's $10. But where is the extra 4 coming from?" which was what I was charged last time for a "wash and dry" for a quick bang cut. They then tell me that it's part of the "circle charge". As she's processing my payment she just tell me a I'm "all set" not even asking if I wanted my receipt, or even ask if I wanted to add a tip (which they always have) and then I had to leave feeling terrible because I didn't have cash for my tip. Everyone has been truly kind that I've talked to, but I feel like I'm getting scammed every time I walk in. I do not feel like I'm being charged honestly and it's made me so frustrated. I went to Bombshell when my regular stylist was unavailable to adjust my adhesive extensions. It should've been a simple removal and replacement, putting the same extensions in the same spots on my head. However, from the moment I walked in the door, I had a bad experience that carried through the service. To start, the stylist didn't introduce herself to me and I had to read her name off her license (Aubrey). She made no conversation. I asked her to please keep the extensions in the same order since they are custom cut and colored. She said she would. I also advised her they are Babe brand extensions. Halfway home, I realized the placement of the extensions was all wrong. See the photos - one was on top of my head and another was showing at the hairline by my eye. Most of the rest were grouped at the nape of my neck. I called and asked her to fix it. When I went back in, she wasn't apologetic and didn't even seem to care, really. I had her move the 4 up front and didn't want her to touch anything else. After 3 weeks, the extensions had slipped an inch in some places. They shouldn't slip that much until about 8-10 weeks. I went to my regular salon and we discovered that Aubrey had put the replacement adhesive strip on top of the old! She never removed the old glue AND she put too much of my hair in the wefts, so it ended up taking 2 hours to remove them (should take 20 minutes) and now I have bald spots. My stylists were absolutely floored at the poor and neglectful work. I'd written a Google review when it initially happened and a FB review when my stylist was trying to remove the glued extensions. I called Kelly, the owner, who not only stood by her stylist, but she tried to tell me: 1. I already had bald spots. 2. I should have notified her when it happened. 3. Her stylist followed protocol - Hotheads requires them to put the adhesive on top of the old. 4. I would need to have them adjusted at 4 weeks anyway. 5. That she tried to call me when she saw my review. 6. She would not issue a refund for the service (over $200) but would refund my tip. Well, anyone can Google the Hotheads Training Manual and see that #3-4 are lies. Also, I didn't have bald spots before Aubrey (see photo). And when I asked why she didn't reach out when she read my Google review, she said she did, but the number she had wasn't in service and she didn't have my number until I called her. Ummm... Kelly, I received TEXT CONFIRMATIONS from your salon for my appointments. You obviously had it. As a small business owner myself, I think it's unconscionable when a business won't take accountability for poor service and damaging a client, whether financially or physically (both in this case). I mean, I asked for a refund and she could have made it better for me, salvaged some reputation, possibly turned my experience around. Instead, she dug her heels in to defend... $253? I had to spend a lot more than that to get it fixed. That should tell you all you need to know. read more

The salon is very nice and the staff is very professional, but my last visit did not go very well. Apparently the customer before me was late for her appointment and it messed up my stylist's schedule. I had 3 different staff people working on my retouch and partial highlights and apparently each stylist has their own rates, which I wasn't made aware of. I was charged for each service individually, so some services I assumed were just part of the service, I was charged for separately. I would have preferred just to reschedule than to be shuffled around. Needless to say, the final bill was about $100 more than I was expecting from the service prices listed on the website. I don't expect to return and in the future I will ask for an upfront price from the next salon. read more

I feel bad it's taken me this long to sit down and write a review for Kelly B.'s new downtown Albany salon, which is another great success by all measures! I have trusted Kelly and her ever-expanding team of talented stylists to take care of my low-maintenance locks for almost 5 years. Ashley, the manager at this location, is an ardent professional who will listen to your wants and concerns and make sure you leave the chair feeling happy and beautiful (even though you obviously already are). She is a master of all things hair coloring. Go to their website and check out the pictures. I also love the various lines of Davines hair care products that they both use and sell at the salon. While i was skeptical at first that I could make the switch (Kelly's other spot, Bombshell uptown, previously known as Sky Beauty Bar, spoiled me with their Moroccan Argan Oil products), I love that all of Davines' shampoos and conditioners are vegan and cruelty free. Bonus! My favorite time of year is around x-mas when you can buy $125 gift cards for yourself or a loved one for only $100. Go get some hair love! read more

I'm truly bummed I found this salon the month I'm slated to move out of town. I needed a last minute (and reasonably priced!) haircut to clean up my way-too-long hair a bit for an upcoming interview for a dream job. I used their website to book a same day appt with Aubrey, opting to spend a few bucks more for a wash with my cut. I arrived as the last client left and was immediately greeted and helped. After a discussion about how much I wanted to cut, my hair was washed with the best scalp massage I've ever gotten at a salon. My cut was quick but expertly done, and Aubrey gave me a lovely voluminous blow out afterwards. 45 minutes and $41 (before tip) later, I walked out pleased and ready to take on the rest of the day! read more

After my initial one star review, I was personally contacted by the owner and offered to fix a hair cut that I felt didn't live up to Bombshell's Expertise. I just came back and I'm beyond happy with how my hair looks! Thanks to Catherine It's no longer frizzy mess! i was charged $350 for black hair and an uneven haircut. i went in asking to match my roots which were brown but i expressed that i did not want it to look black. she dyed my hair twice and charged me both times without telling me, gave me an uneven haircut for $30 extra dollars (pictures attached) and charged me an extra $50 for misc, which i'm assuming was blowing it out. also, they charged me $30 just to wash the dye out of my hair. i've never been more disappointed in a salon, it's gonna cost me so much more to fix and when i called and asked for my money back i was told that even though i didn't like it, a service was performed. i would not recommend this salon at all. they added multiple services onto my receipt without telling me and did a horrible job. read more

This salon is excellent. Always greeted so kindly at the door, and always offered a complimentary beverage! It is nice to sit and sip a hot drink while getting styled. I am always interested to hear what the stylists have all learned - since it seems they are always having extra classes and brand professionals coming to strengthen their knowledge. I have been to Kelly's other location in Delmar and was very pleased with the services I received the last time I was in town from California. I was again visiting family over the holidays and decided it was time for another haircut. Kelly fit me in at short notice and again did a great job with my hair. I had trouble expressing what I wanted, but she cut off 4-5 inches and gave me the fantastic layered look I wanted. She is clearly skilled, since she then cut my husband's hair and also gave my baby daughter her first haircut. It says something when I trust a stylist with my and my family's hair, all the way from CA! I will definitely be back. read more

Two people I know have recently called for highlights, given the length of their hair, thickness and asked for an approximate price. Both, who went on different days, were quoted $100 LOWER than they were actually charged once they were done. Seems like a scam - I will never go there!! read more
