Glad there's this food truck in Halawa industrial area because there's not many food spots in this area! I ordered their "The Harry" which comes with their cheeseburger, fried noodles and mac salad. I swear this is a meal for 2 people! Comes with a lot of food! They take phone orders too!

Head to Halawa and grab some lunch at Bombuchaz. We ordered the hamburger steak plate and the #3 special with beef stew, chicken long rice, and pan laulau. Yummers! The stew uses short ribs which made it even better. The flavors was spot on. We went there at 10:30 so only had about 3 people in line. I've heard they sell out so get there early and get your grub on!

STEVE's AKAKA FALLS FARM Jams, Butters & Honey: This review…read moreis specifically for Steve's Akaka Farms Giving them 5 stars for their great tasting jams, butters, and honey! Giving 5 stars for Katy, who works at the Pearlridge Farmers Market location in Saturdays. She is a ray of sunshine, with her great smile and loves to share samples of their product. Be careful, though because when you taste the delicious products you'll have to get something! Their passion fruit habanero is amazing with cream cheese and crackers or as a glaze for meats. If you combine it with cream cheese it softens the heat. They do have one with ghost peppers or Caroline Reaper peppers but beware - I bought it for my friend who loves heat and she said it's really hot! They have amazing butters - try any of their chocolate butters and you'll think you are in heaven! Note-these are seasonal so there may be different ones available when you visit. Award winning Coconut black chocolate is absolutely amazing, rich, and decadent and the best way to eat this is to get a big spoonful then just sit there and savor the flavor. The Kona coffee dark chocolate is also amazing. Hard to decide which is better! Got a jar if passion fruit Hawaiian pepper (chili pepper) smoked pineapple Kentucky whiskey to use as a glaze for meat. Can't wait to use it. These also make great gifts to send to or give to suiting folks from the mainland to give them a taste of Hawaii. I like the POG jam for islanders who have relocated to the mainland because it's like a taste of home. Kona coffee butter and mango are also divine. I have the mango for me...! I also got a jar of the mango honey and it's marvelous, too! These are high quality and a bit pricey, but after going to the craft fair at the Blaisdell, the prices are not too much more if not comparable. ...AND they are available weekly! If you go and sample a flavor you like, be sure to ask if it's seasonal (such as mango) or not. If it's seasonal - get it. It may not be available again until the next season. Me

Two weeks ago, I saw a group on FB called 808 Best Lunch Wagons, Restaurants & Entertainments that…read moresomeone had posted the menu for Ige's and saw that Wednesday they would have baked spaghetti, my favorite going to school. Wednesday, had the internet fixed in the morning, picked up my cousin at 10:30 and she gave me directions to Ige's because all this time, I didn't know they were still in business. Oops. Ige's is located in the Waimalu area behind Goodwill on Kam Hwy. There's several small businesses back there and all these driveways, you can miss this place easily. On the main driveway, there's a bike path that crosses it, and an old guard shack. After this, you want to take the second driveway on the left. You know you're going down the right path when you see Guieb restaurant on the left, which I also didn't know was here. And drive all the way to the end. Ige's is the very last store on the left. You'll see the lunch line. They are only open for lunch from Tuesdays to Fridays from 9:30 am - 1 pm, so you should plan ahead. The regular menu differs each day and for now, the daily specials have remained unchanged. But to make sure, check out their IG @igesaiea. When you get there, they do have some grab and goes that are not advertised. As far as pricing, they are pretty reasonable, regular plates are between $13 - $16. However, the portions, let's say it's really heavy. My cousin got a mixed plate of chicken hekka and pork teriyaki. And I got the baked spaghetti, no rice, with toss and Mac salad. And the spaghetti filled half the plate with a good amount of height. Ige's is counter only, a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Therefore there are no seats. I asked my cousin if she wanted to grab a table at Neal Blaisdell park down the street and she quickly declined. So we drove back to her house for lunch. My cousin did enjoy her chicken hekka and pork. I'm didn't get to taste it because I was too involved with my meal. At first glance, it wasn't the brick, lasagna-style like school where there was a thick layer of cheese on top. However, without the cheese, it was still tasted the same from what I could remember. Because the portion is heavy, my cousin could only eat a fourth of her lunch while I thought I better tap out at 1/3. So she didn't need to make dinner for her family while I had dinner and lunch for the next day. Although the interaction was short, the counter person was pleasant and very helpful. As you look into the kitchen, you can see a lot of people hustling back there as they also do catering. I'll be away for two weeks but I am looking forward to picking up lunch when I get back and I am definitely brining family here, I just need to figure out a good place for a picnic.

Originally established by Rachel Ige since 1969, opening out of Masa's Cafeteria. This review is for Ige's Lunchwagon & Catering (Aiea). I remember years ago I once ordered pork nishime ala carte, and it was so flavorful and with the generous serving, it lasted for several meals! Because I don't live nearby, I lost track of following the Instagram/Facebook menu and the short weekday hours. Thanks to Yelper Sach T. for reminding me what Ige's has to offer! This Aiea-based business is known for its generous portions of local plate lunches, catering services, and Okinawan-style dishes like sweet sour spareribs and shoyu pork. It offers daily lunch specials and catering for events, with a reputation for large, affordable meals with leftovers. Their lunch menu for the weekdays include: turkey/chicken ala king, Korean fried chicken, fresh corned beef, meatloaf, pork tofu, roast turkey, chicken curry, checken hekka, pork teri, hamburger steak, Hawaiian plate, tripe/beef stew, long rice, bbq spareribs, shoyu chicken, roast pork, chicken fried steak/katsu, catch of the day. In addition, their weekly specials per weekday include: teri beef tips, sweet sour spareribs, curryburger stew, pork cutlet w/ gravy, shoyu chicken, baked spaghetti, fried saimin, fried chicken thighs, chicken long rice, turkey tail adobo, baked luncheon meat, fresh fish patties, pork nishime, chow fun w/ pork teri, baked rosemary chicken, and catch of the day. Plus, maki sushi and cone sushi are available. Plate lunches can come with rice. mac salad, chow mein, and pickled onions; but if you want all entrée, it's $1 more. It's astounding to think of what is available! Our recent visit included our ordering of: * Sweet sour spare ribs. This is exactly how I like my sweet sour spare ribs - vinegary, meat easily off the bone or tendon, lots of gravy over rice! Old-school cooking brings back memories of eating this when growing up! * Chicken hekka. Lots of long rice, chicken, celery, green onions, shiitake make this old-school cooking dish a winner! * Maki/cone sushi. Nice flavors to this sushi that are good for snacking! Great entrees to order in place of having to cook, as they lasted for several meals for hubby and myself! Items were pre-ordered over the phone to ensure that Ige's didn't run out of food and due to the short hours that they are open. Phone orders were done processed quickly, as they just asked for your name by friendly staff. There is a separate phone order pick-up area to expedite paying and receiving your order. Otherwise, you'll find a line of customers waiting to order in the regular order line. No dine-in, as it is strictly take-out. Hours of operation are short, Tues to Fri only from 9:30a to 1:00p only; Mon and weekends closed. Free parking available in large lot shared by other businesses in the complex. Staff works out of a kitchen behind Cutter Ford in Aiea in a "lunchwagon" style of services. Known for its delicious old-school local cuisine, extensive food choices, generous portions, affordable meals, authentic flavors, and friendly customer service, Ige's Lunchwagon & Catering in Aiea is a great place for lunch or dinner! And especially if you're too lazy to cook!

Very nice lady but is also unorganized and has no efficient system as a business owner. Wait times are longer because of this. She takes my cash but doesn't always give back my change right away, then will forget the amount of cash I've handed her. She often asks to be reminded of what you ordered, and when you think you're done ordering, she asks you to come back to the window to ask additional questions about your order. Instead of waiting until the entire order is complete, she brings out the plates at different times and has asked another customer to bring back the first half of their order and show her to make sure she doesn't give them extra food. She would benefit from using a simple receipt book so she doesn't have to rely just on memory and she can give the customers a numbered ticket to call when their order is ready. She only takes CASH or VENMO which is fine. But I have seen her take the order and make the food before the customer pays, and then get into conflict when the customer does not have any form of payment. Confirming payment first will save a lot of troubles. She's no longer in a fixed location, and now takes her truck to various spots around the island, mostly on base or Waipio. I recommend following her instagram but she unfortunately doesn't post her location until the day of. She doesn't post her schedule in advance, making it very hard to track her down. I used to come often when she was at the old Sear's parking lot. So it's been months until I finally had a day off and was relieved to find she was in Waipio -- just to find that her efficiency hasn't improved since the last time I came. I love that she's getting more business but I cannot keep coming back if this is the service every time. She definitely could use more helping hands.

Be prepared to wait around 45-60 minutes as it is just her and 1 kitchen crew. The wait was well worth it for the most delicious Nigerian food I've had on the island. Jollof Rice came with Oxtail & Jerk Chicken so we could try both and they were seasoned immaculately. The Jollof rice has some heat that builds as you eat it and the oxtail was a hefty piece. The jerk chicken had a nice spice & sear to it, it provided a nice balance to the fatty oxtail. There is also pieces of plantain that come with this plate. Fufu is neutral flavored pounded yam (comparable texture to a stickier mashed potato) - It pairs well with the smokey, earthy & spicy flavors of the Egusi Soup. The soup is very hearty and more akin to a stew with how much protein & veggies are in the bowl. My total came out to $51.00 for these three items.

The options they have, the ingredients they use, the cooking, and the flavor... it's made exactly like how I remember in the Philippines. It kind of does bring me back to my days growing up in the Philippines. We've been ordering platters from 2NO 2NO (pronounced "tono tono" like "pono") for a few years now. I've yet to receive anything that I didn't like. Their platters of food, like pancit and lumpiang shanghai, and their BBQ sticks and Filipino street food offerings are really good. I can eat a whole pan of kwek-kwek all by myself. Not in one sitting though, but spread throughout a few meals and late night "snacks". We've also ordered there big "budol fight" (pronounce "boo-dol" as in "boo" and "toll") meals. It's a traditional Filipino/southeast asian way of sharing a meal with families or large party. I grew up using the term "kamayan". Anyway, it's a feast of your choice of meat, fish, seafood, starch, etc. So far, the two or three times we've done it, it's been real good. 2. Service - Not much. They're not a restaurant. They are essentially a "catering" company. You send your order through text or instagram or some other social media thing, with the date and time of pick up, and pay cash or Venmo or some payment application after you get your order on the day of. I don't know, my wife usually does the ordering. I usually do the pick up. When I do go and pick up our order, most of the time, it's ready or almost ready. They haven't messed up any of my orders yet, which is important because most of the time when we order, it's for events. 3. Ambience - Non. You go to their place and pick your order up. If you want to talk ambience, it's in Kalihi, in one of those tiny streets off of Kalihi St. I do like going there though. The smell of the kitchen reminds me again of home in the Philippines. On a good day, when the sun is out, the skies are blue, and there's no vog covering the island, picking up orders is a pleasant errand.
