A plate of just Garlic Fried Chicken... and plate of Pancit. Perfect lunch for our fam of 4.

Where else can you get about a dozen pieces of fried chicken for just $12???? TripleRT Food Truck... they have a truck at Waipahu District Park and another truck at Hoopili - during the week. Not available on weekends - they're busy doing catering. By the time I went at 2:30pm, pancit already sold out. Got my filling of Garlic Fried Chicken (gotta get the garlic sauce). Awesome portion for an order of just chicken.

Only thing on the menu so I took it all: pinakbet, fried chicken, pancit, rice 9.22.21.

Well, it's been a little over two months since I was last here in early July. so I decided to eat here again as it is close by to where I live. It's a Wed (9/22) morning just a few minutes after 11am and I see he has no customers at the moment. He likes to park his lunchwagon street side just after the entry into the Waipahu District Park parking lot. I walk up to the lunchwagon and see no one near the order/receive window so I walk a little to my right to see if he is sitting in the front passenger seat awaiting customer --- and yes, he's there reading the newspaper. As walk back to the order window, the first thing out of my mouth was to say I "wanted half pork guisantes and ..." when he stopped me and said he only had fried chicken, pinakbet, noodles and rice... Took me just a moment to comprehend because 'that's all he had for entrees' ? The past few times I knew he only had three entres (as he liked to say he serves what his customers like): fried chicken, fried chicken with garlic sauce on the side, and pork guisantes. So I said, ahh.. ok, i want half fried chicken, half pinakbet with half pancit and half (white) rice for the starch. Anyone familiar with pinakbet, the main vegetables in the dish are normally eggplant and bitter melon slices (sometimes they had chicharron, or sometimes they had small bits of roast pork (Chinese style). While he was assembling the plate, I was telling myself how much I would have to remove bittermelon (goya) pieces from that dish as I don't like the strong bitter taste. Gee, I guess I came at the right time, as now a line of customers began to form right behind me... he wasn't his talkative self, but still nice (maybe he had a cold or something and didn't walk to speak much.. dunno, didn't sound like he had a cold though...). As he had a hard time closing the lid before putting it into the plastic bag, i wondered why he was rushing. I gave him my $10 and there was no exchange of words by him or me (hmm ... unusual). As I walk away from the truck to my car, I was trying to secure the lid on the styrofoam container and now found out why he couldn't close it well, it was just too much food inside that the lid couldn't close properly ! As I got home and opened the container, I saw the unusually reddish pinkabet portion of the meal ... hmm, never saw reddish 'sauce' before any anyone's cooking ... maybe he was trying to 'localize' its taste? Ok, so I start looking for the hated bittermelon pieces with my fork, but couldn't find ANY ! Now it's a 'what?' Unusual ! there were eggplant, long beans, wing beans, and okra with some onions in a tomato based sauce ... Let me taste ... ummm, tasted good, and tasted like there was the hint of bittermelon in the dish (wonder if had placed them perhaps in a straining/cheesecloth or packet so he can allow the flavor of the bittermelon to blend in, without having the bittermelon pieces actually be in the dish for consumption? Whatever ... I was liking his rich flavored pinakbet .. too bad there wasn't any roast pork, or at least the crispy skin of the roast pork in that dish. Fried chicken (his version is all right for my tastes ... though I have seen reviews that say his version is bomb ! Not to me though ... Like I mentioned before, these (very small) chicken thighs look exactly like what are sold at the supermarkets in the 5 lb boxes by various chicken companies.. He was generous with the pancit canton and you can buy his pancit on the side like I did the last time. This meal with the two entrees just complimented each other with flavors galore, and I wouldn't mind eating this combo again....maybe he should just add this to his other three entrees (fried chicken, garlic chicken, pork guisantes) permanently. The last time I was here in early July, I ordered the fried chicken and garlic chicken combination, and only gave it three stars.., but this one works better! Most likely you will love this mixed combination @ $10 exactly for this meal. Cash only (like so many other lunchwagons operate) !

Triple RT's located at Waipahu Regional Park Monday thru Friday

Finally made to this Food Truck in Waipahu called Triple RT's located at the Waipahu Regional Park from Monday thru Friday as I wa so excited because I really love my Fried Chicken and after seeing all these glowing reviews I definitely had to come here and see what the hype was all about. I had originally ordered the Fried Chicken and Pinakbet Mixed Plate but Uncle gave me the Pancit instead of the Pinakbet and I was kind of bummed because I love my Pinakbet especially with Fried Chicken. Anyway after getting my plate and opening up my plate, things looked very promising until further inspection looking at the Fried Chicken, they all looked like they were Refried and overcooked. And after taking one bite of my First Piece of Fried Chicken, my thoughts and initial senses came to fruition as the Fried Chicken was no where near moist nor juicy. It also lacked any type of flavor as well. Not even a faint taste of salt or pepper at all. It was bland, very bland and when the Chicken was overcooked like these pieces that I got, I had a real hard time swallowing it. Out of the 5 or 6 pieces of Fried Chicken I got, just one of the pieces of Fried Chicken was even formidable to even swallow. Also the pieces were in all different sizes. They weren't all the same size as some were really small in size. As for the Pancit that also was disappointing as it lacked any type of flavor and all and once again very bland. Luckily I found some Soy Sauce Packets in my Glove Compartment to give my Pancit some flavor that it sorely needed. Despite this very disappointing meal, the Uncle working at the Food Truck was really nice and genuine and I really want to try this place once again but I'm so gun shy because once I get disappointed about a certain place I don't want to experience what I went through the first time. Perhaps it was just a stroke of Bad Luck that I was dealt a really bad batch of Fried Chicken and I think I knew I was in trouble when the Plate that I ordered wasn't exactly what I initially asked for. I really wanted to like this place but I think it may be awhile before I make my trip back to Waipahu to satisfy my Fried Chicken Cravings. Especially here at Triple RT's

The chicken is super dry and no flavor whatsoever. The old man is smoking a cigarette in the food truck. So unsanitary. Bad service. Don't waste your money buying your food at this food truck.

Weekly special: fried chicken and gravy plate $6

I always enjoy ordering plate lunches to feed my team or to enjoy with family. One thing that never disappoints is the fried chicken. Where can you find a better deal elsewhere? Especially for fried chicken thighs that are crunchy, perfectly salted and not oily! Often having so much oil in fried chicken can ruin the flavor. Thanks Triple RTs!

They provide linen, and let me choose the color scheme! Cute!

Accommodating, professional, punctual, beautiful, convenient, tasty, reasonably priced-- that sums up my experience with Triple RTs. I had an event up at Sunset Ranch this month, and I couldn't have asked for a better caterer. They delivered, set up beautifully, and provided everything we needed for food service. They are a complete package, and the price is so good! I asked the food to be ready to serve at 1pm. They came early to set up (which I really appreciated, since there's a lot of traffic going into the North Shore on the weekend). Our program moved up, and we asked them if they could serve at 12:30pm instead-- I was so grateful they accommodated our request. I ordered rice, noodles, fried chicken, kalua pig & cabbage, sweet sour spare ribs, and fish tempura. Everything was good, but everyone's favorites were the chicken, spare ribs and fish tempura Definitely recommend!

The service was sufficient (low contact - could be off-putting to some.) The food was cooked on the spot, at least, the fried part was. My thing is, I've had different preparations of both the lechon and sisig before. I have to say that the ones I got from home-cooked versions versus commercial versions are different (at least for me it has.) It seems as if the sisig and lechon were initially boiled to cook it thoroughly, then they fry it before they serve it to you to get that crispy feel from the skin. The thing is, the jello-like/slightly slimy texture of the fat leads one to believe that it was boiled first or at least not fried thoroughly. There's nothing wrong with boiling as long as the skin and fat come through as crispy. The skin was crispy, but the fat wasn't. Perhaps, they just need to fry it a little more. Other than that, if it was crispy throughout, I would've given it 5 stars. I'm looking forward to trying the other things on the menu like the beef pares.

I decided on the lechon with pancit plate this time, since the Fried rice I got the last time was fairly bland. It was a good choice, as the noodles were flavorful, with lots of veggies. Unfortunately, the lechon was super salty this time. It was moist and the skin was veto crispy, but I could only eat a little at a time, due to the saltiness. I'm hoping this was a "one off", and they didn't change their preparation or recipe. I'll have to make sure by stopping by again to grab another order soon.

They're located on the corner and once you see a tent & smell bbq, you're at the right spot. This restaurant gave karinderia vibe to it! Karinderia is basically like those food stalls they have in the Philippines, where they have a bunch of dishes and you sit out to enjoy the food. Home cooked & affordable eats. They have everything from bbq sticks, adobo, lechon, kilawan, lumpia and more. I got the bbq stick & chicken inasal plate. The bbq stick was packed with so much flavor! The chicken inasal was more on the huli huli side & was served with Filipino dipping sauce. They also offer free sabaw with your meal. Ordering was a little complicating, they have a menu outside with food and also more food inside. The bbq items were cooked by order and the inside food had more of the Filipino dishes like (adobo). But next to the cashier, you could also find other fried dishes as well. So a little complicated. You also have the option to sit outside under the tent or inside the restaurant with AC. For this type of place, if you're dining in, you order & eat first then pay. Like any karindera. Overall, this place was VERY good & SUPER AFFORDABLE.
