Menu board against the food truck

Finally Tried Fufu--And I'm in Love! I finally made it to the Enchanted By Aloha food truck, and wow--what a treat! The lovely lady running the truck serves Nigerian food, something I've always wanted to try. Fufu has been on my foodie bucket list for years, and let me just say... I'm officially obsessed. My husband and I ordered the fufu with egusi spinach soup, and a plate of lamb with jollof rice and cabbage. The fufu? It's hard to describe--soft, dough-like, almost stretchy, but not like mochi. It doesn't have a strong flavor on its own, but the texture is so satisfying, especially when dipped into that bold, spicy, flavorful egusi soup. The soup came with a tender piece of meat (maybe lamb?) and a chicken drumstick. Absolutely packed with flavor! My husband really enjoyed the lamb plate too--the jollof rice was spicy and savory, and the cabbage added a nice balance. But if I'm being honest, I'm team fufu all the way. The woman in the truck does everything herself--takes the order, cooks, and processes payment. She accepts Venmo or cash (Venmo is easiest for her). Super friendly, full of smiles, and she even gave us a sample of the daily special: beans and plantains. Oh my goodness... that alone could be a full meal. So tasty. Can't wait to go back and try the fufu with okra soup next time!

While at the Food and New Products Show I had a hard time deciding what to eat. There were so many choices but I kept coming back here because it was different. I have never had Nigerian food so I decided to get the lamb and jerk chicken plate which also came with rice and tossed green salad. The jerk chicken and lamb both had good flavor. The jerk chicken was not that spicy if you are concerned about that. You can tell the food was made with care and attention. The only thing that could have been better is the carrots included were not fully cooked so they were hard and crunchy. Besides that the food was great and would like to try their oxtail next time.

Soup w/2pc chicken & fufu. Mini Sprite for size comparison. $20 not including Sprite.

We saw a few different trucks in the Pearlridge lineup and after social media research, we went with Enchanted. Service 2.5/5. We were up first and I asked if there were smaller portions (mini-plate kine) and was told no then "how much you got, 20? I'll make you a plate for 20!" Red flag #1. As we waited, a full 7 minutes pass and the lady is consumed with entertaining 2 other people after us and not making our food. Red flag #2. We got the food and when I tell you never again, I mean NEVER AGAIN. I am wholeheartedly supportive of local businesses and I get rising cost but the amount of food for $20 was just nuts. Food 2.5/5 Soup was extremely seasoned & I'm a heavy seasoning person but this was just too much. Fufu was mush. Not sure if that's supposed to be the texture but not for us. That's just MY OPINION.

Combo plate: Super tender and flavorful Jerk Chicken with sautéed shrimp with veggies, fried cabbage, and plantains. MUST TRY!!

Enchanted By Aloha IS A MUST TRY!!!! Her food is BOMMMBBBBB!!!! Probably the best meal I've had in a looooonngg time. We ordered her combo meal Jerk Chicken and Shrimp and Jerk Chicken and Lamb and I'm telling you she'll give you more than your money's worth. It was THE BEST Jerk Chicken I've had on island by far hands down. The shrimp was super fresh and her veggies were so nicely seasoned but not salty and still had a crunch to every bite. Can't stand when I get veggies in a dish and it's mushy. Her cabbage wasn't undercooked or over cooked. It was absolutely perfect. Perfect seasoning perfectly cooked. We ordered ours with Jollpf rice which was soooooo good! And it comes with a big portion of fried plantains. Our plates were so heavy. Besides the amazing food the owner cooks the food herself and you can tell she puts her love for cooking and her heart into it. She's so jolly and happy and super friendly. She gave my kids the Oreo cream dessert that was little little fried donuts topped with crushed Oreos and cream on the house and they killed it! It was also amazing! Will definitely be a regular of hers!

Fufu has been all over my social media and my Nigerian friend loves it! I ordered the fufu with spinach soup. Absolutely blown away. The price was well worth it, which is unusual for me to say. I've never tried such flavor combinations and it wasn't overpowering since I grew up with Hispanic food. Fufu had mochi-like texture and the soup platter had a chicken drumstick and big chunks of meat, so it was very filling. The service was also so friendly and refreshing. My husband and I went to this and one other food truck. We're so happy to support the smaller businesses in this location. The most important thing is that my husband and I still feel very healthy - and not like we consumed an insane amount of oil. This alone will keep us coming back frequently. Next, fufu with egusi soup! Thank you!

I highly recommend ordering the blue crab dip, shrimp ceviche (with tostada shells) and any of their tacos from the steak and shrimp taco Cabo to their fried fish tacos. The seafood is fresh and every bite, from the salsa to the tortilla, is bursting with flavor. Seating and a few parking stalls are available outside. Ordering is pretty quick and convenient. You can order in-person or order takeout online, but I would suggest going in person to check if they have any specials including churros with coconut ice cream.

We went big with the Family Pack (Blue Crab Tobiko Spread, Shrimp Ceviche, and tostadas) and threw in some extra tacos for good measure. The steak tacos were the undisputed MVP of the night -- perfectly grilled and genuinely delicious. The fish tacos were solid, respectable citizens of the taco world and the serving was big enough to make two tacos from one serving. Now, the Blue Crab Tobiko Spread tasted really fishy, so fishy that I had to tap out. Maybe it was an off night, but I couldn't power through it. The Shrimp Ceviche was a crowd-pleaser for the rest of the family, though it wasn't my personal vibe. Here's where things get spicy -- and not in the fun way. We got hit with a $21 convenience fee for ordering online that appeared AFTER we'd already tipped. No heads-up, no warning label, nothing. For a family just trying to enjoy some seafood, that's a gut punch. Had we known, we would have ordered differently.

After walking around,…read morewe decided that one of the vendors we will try from would be Pelmeshki, which serves up pierogis, which is a type of dumplings. We order an order of half beef and half cheese & potatos. The vendor recommended us get panfried (between the two options of boiled or panfried). We got to choose two sauce which we went with garlic and shoyu chili. We had to wait SO long, I think it was around 15-20+ minutes. Overall, the pierogis were just okay, my friend didn't like the potato & cheese one and the beef one was just mediocre for us. The wrapper were thick and the sauces weren't very flavorful which just made it all taste bland. The shoyu chili was NOT spicy at ALL, like not even a hint. I personally don't think I would want/try this again.

Honestly I am and when I first discovered Pelmeshki which usually has been in the back end of the Village Night Market at Pearlridge Center I had already bought something to eat and with the amount they sell in one order there's no way that I can do it all by myself lol! These are Russian dumplings which looks like tortelloni or even some won tons that are round but are super cute and is filled with beef and pork you can have it pan fried or steamed and though I usually like pan fried I chose for steamed as it felt it would be more light and soft textured. A paired with a choice of sauce it was spicy shoyu for me. Placed my order but be prepared to wait as it's made to order though it did give me time to look around and see if anything else would capture my attention but before my eyes speak for my belly I headed back and was excited to see it was ready. Let me tell you these pillowy beauties was delicious though the dough is a bit on the chewy side as it was thicker similar to like a mandoo but it was delicious and with 20 for an order it's totally shareable and the sauce was on the thicker side and wasn't really spicy but is nice and flavorful to give a bit of kick to the Pelmeshki. The vibe at the night market is very festive and vibrant with lots of seating under the tent and a few cocktail tables for a quick bite making this a great place have some food, fun and freeing enjoyment. Thank you!

Two weeks ago, I saw a group on FB called 808 Best Lunch Wagons, Restaurants & Entertainments that…read moresomeone had posted the menu for Ige's and saw that Wednesday they would have baked spaghetti, my favorite going to school. Wednesday, had the internet fixed in the morning, picked up my cousin at 10:30 and she gave me directions to Ige's because all this time, I didn't know they were still in business. Oops. Ige's is located in the Waimalu area behind Goodwill on Kam Hwy. There's several small businesses back there and all these driveways, you can miss this place easily. On the main driveway, there's a bike path that crosses it, and an old guard shack. After this, you want to take the second driveway on the left. You know you're going down the right path when you see Guieb restaurant on the left, which I also didn't know was here. And drive all the way to the end. Ige's is the very last store on the left. You'll see the lunch line. They are only open for lunch from Tuesdays to Fridays from 9:30 am - 1 pm, so you should plan ahead. The regular menu differs each day and for now, the daily specials have remained unchanged. But to make sure, check out their IG @igesaiea. When you get there, they do have some grab and goes that are not advertised. As far as pricing, they are pretty reasonable, regular plates are between $13 - $16. However, the portions, let's say it's really heavy. My cousin got a mixed plate of chicken hekka and pork teriyaki. And I got the baked spaghetti, no rice, with toss and Mac salad. And the spaghetti filled half the plate with a good amount of height. Ige's is counter only, a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Therefore there are no seats. I asked my cousin if she wanted to grab a table at Neal Blaisdell park down the street and she quickly declined. So we drove back to her house for lunch. My cousin did enjoy her chicken hekka and pork. I'm didn't get to taste it because I was too involved with my meal. At first glance, it wasn't the brick, lasagna-style like school where there was a thick layer of cheese on top. However, without the cheese, it was still tasted the same from what I could remember. Because the portion is heavy, my cousin could only eat a fourth of her lunch while I thought I better tap out at 1/3. So she didn't need to make dinner for her family while I had dinner and lunch for the next day. Although the interaction was short, the counter person was pleasant and very helpful. As you look into the kitchen, you can see a lot of people hustling back there as they also do catering. I'll be away for two weeks but I am looking forward to picking up lunch when I get back and I am definitely brining family here, I just need to figure out a good place for a picnic.

Originally established by Rachel Ige since 1969, opening out of Masa's Cafeteria. This review is for Ige's Lunchwagon & Catering (Aiea). I remember years ago I once ordered pork nishime ala carte, and it was so flavorful and with the generous serving, it lasted for several meals! Because I don't live nearby, I lost track of following the Instagram/Facebook menu and the short weekday hours. Thanks to Yelper Sach T. for reminding me what Ige's has to offer! This Aiea-based business is known for its generous portions of local plate lunches, catering services, and Okinawan-style dishes like sweet sour spareribs and shoyu pork. It offers daily lunch specials and catering for events, with a reputation for large, affordable meals with leftovers. Their lunch menu for the weekdays include: turkey/chicken ala king, Korean fried chicken, fresh corned beef, meatloaf, pork tofu, roast turkey, chicken curry, checken hekka, pork teri, hamburger steak, Hawaiian plate, tripe/beef stew, long rice, bbq spareribs, shoyu chicken, roast pork, chicken fried steak/katsu, catch of the day. In addition, their weekly specials per weekday include: teri beef tips, sweet sour spareribs, curryburger stew, pork cutlet w/ gravy, shoyu chicken, baked spaghetti, fried saimin, fried chicken thighs, chicken long rice, turkey tail adobo, baked luncheon meat, fresh fish patties, pork nishime, chow fun w/ pork teri, baked rosemary chicken, and catch of the day. Plus, maki sushi and cone sushi are available. Plate lunches can come with rice. mac salad, chow mein, and pickled onions; but if you want all entrée, it's $1 more. It's astounding to think of what is available! Our recent visit included our ordering of: * Sweet sour spare ribs. This is exactly how I like my sweet sour spare ribs - vinegary, meat easily off the bone or tendon, lots of gravy over rice! Old-school cooking brings back memories of eating this when growing up! * Chicken hekka. Lots of long rice, chicken, celery, green onions, shiitake make this old-school cooking dish a winner! * Maki/cone sushi. Nice flavors to this sushi that are good for snacking! Great entrees to order in place of having to cook, as they lasted for several meals for hubby and myself! Items were pre-ordered over the phone to ensure that Ige's didn't run out of food and due to the short hours that they are open. Phone orders were done processed quickly, as they just asked for your name by friendly staff. There is a separate phone order pick-up area to expedite paying and receiving your order. Otherwise, you'll find a line of customers waiting to order in the regular order line. No dine-in, as it is strictly take-out. Hours of operation are short, Tues to Fri only from 9:30a to 1:00p only; Mon and weekends closed. Free parking available in large lot shared by other businesses in the complex. Staff works out of a kitchen behind Cutter Ford in Aiea in a "lunchwagon" style of services. Known for its delicious old-school local cuisine, extensive food choices, generous portions, affordable meals, authentic flavors, and friendly customer service, Ige's Lunchwagon & Catering in Aiea is a great place for lunch or dinner! And especially if you're too lazy to cook!
