Bon Air Park Rose Garden really is a hidden gem--especially if you've never been before. Even on a hot summer day, it was beautiful. I can only imagine how stunning it must be in the spring when everything's in full bloom or during a crisp, colorful fall afternoon. While the heat made it a bit tough to linger, strolling through the garden and taking in all the vibrant colors was still absolutely worth the visit. A Hidden Gem in Full Bloom. Bon Air Park has officially become my favorite park to visit--and for good reason. The flower garden is an absolute vibe, and I truly felt like I caught it. What impressed me most was how beautifully maintained the garden is. It's clear that visitors respect the space no trampled flowers and are careful crossing into the garden beds, just pure appreciation of nature's beauty. The park also features tennis courts and scenic walking trails for those looking to get active, but I spent most of my time immersed in the tranquility of the garden. I even filmed an episode of my show here it was the perfect backdrop and took some photos to remember the moment. If you're ever in the area, this is a place worth carving out time for. Whether you're looking to walk, relax, or just get inspired, Bon Air Park delivers an experience everyone should have at least once. Plenty of parking. The flowers here are so beautiful. If you are looking for a place to just sit, admire the beauty, then get a mini walk in or run, this may be the place for you. Timing of the year for visiting the park is also essential, as the heat may have impact on certain flowers not blooming or dying from lack of watering (there was one section that was dried up on our visit at the beginning of September), so that is something to consider. It's nothing exciting. Definitely don't drive out of your way, to visit this park. That being said, Bon Air does change the urban perspective. It can be relaxing. It's a nice area to walk around. There's just not really anything, that screams must go. Best for locals. It does have quite the flower garden. Admittedly I'm not familiar with the species. If you're a fan of Holland, this might make it more appealing. This is a decent park. It provides a respite, but it's not all that. read more

What a beautiful little park. It's small, but there's lots to it. I came here to do a photoshoot and there were a lot of options for backdrops. Flowers are well kept and plenty of parking, quiet as it's located in a residential area. There is also a tennis court nearby. read more

This is a pretty rose garden which is next to two tennis courts, a children's playground, and picnic area. From the garden, you can see the Washington & Old Dominion bike trail (just across Four Mile Run Creek). This park and rose garden was a pleasant surprise. It's located at the bottom of a steep hill as you are driving along Wilson Blvd. The park is about 1 mile west of the high-rise office buildings of Ballston. At the entrance on North Lexington St., the parking lot is spacious and free - a bonus for Arlington where street parking can be difficult to find. I drove here on a Sunday afternoon in mid-November for a brief stop while enjoying a cup of coffee, and was surprised to see a few roses. The weather was cloudy but in the upper 50s - warm enough for a family to enjoy an outdoor picnic lunch. Look forward to visiting again when more roses are in bloom. read more

Such a happy surprise! I saw a mention of this park on a FB group, so I thought I'd go check it out. I had no idea what to expect and was just looking to spend some time outside. I was pleased to find such a beautiful, well maintained garden. I was there in early October and there was still beautiful blooms. I look forward to coming back when it might be more of a peak bloom. There's also an educational garden which was nice to walk through. It looked like it needed a little attention, but many things do during this pandemic craziness. I also noticed a playground and lots of green space. There was gravel path which people were walking and biking on. I'll have to get to that next visit. Oh! How can I forget? There was even a wedding wrapping up in the rose garden when I first arrived. Go see. You'll love it! read more

This is one of my favorite local and hidden gems in Arlington! And it's free! I came back-to-back in the early spring before all the roses bloom and it was still lovely then! Gorgeous greenery. Aside from roses, there are azaleas, magnolia trees, holly bushes and lovely camellia flowers in bloom! Such a beautiful sight! It's a great place for a mini photo shoot (so many great photo ops!) or place to go on a nice family-friendly stroll. Check out the walking paths that surround the park. There are cute little garden nooks where you can sit in the shade and look at more shrubs and greenery. Its own paradise! It's never crowded, so that's a plus during covid when you want to get outside and enjoy nature's beauty. The park has plenty of parking (has its own lot) which makes it very convenient. There are no bathrooms - so plan ahead! Ballston commons and a bunch of nice restaurants like Pupatella and Italian store are just minutes away. The park is also dog friendly, so you can bring your furry friends for a nice walk here, as well! read more

I was absolutely blown away by this park. It has tennis courts, a shade garden on a steel hill, rose gardens, a beautiful trail that runs up to the WO&D trail, and connections to two kids parks (one is on the other side of the interstate and has two playing fields and a covered pavilion), barbecue pits, and picnic tables. It has everything...almost. So here's the bad parts: the restrooms are weird amalgamations of years or restoration. It's just a cinderblock building that has obviously flooded or not been taken care of at various times, and the plumber just slapped the toilets on the wall. I seriously need stilts to reach the toilet in the mens restroom lol. I mean, TMI but seriously WTF. The other negative is kind of amusing: there's a basketball court that has signs saying "No ball playing in this area except basketball!" but the basketball goals have no hoops. None at all, nothing to attach a net to. So I guess this is a BYOH: bring your own hoop, situation. I love coming here and relaxing with the rose gardens, or a enjoying the shade garden at midday, or watching my kids playin the really nice park on the other side of the interstate. It's a fun place to walk. A creek runs through the park as well and while I wouldn't recommend touching the water, it lends a nice feel to the place. And for parking afficianados, the parking lot is really large. I'm sure it fills up at various times on the weekends like every lot in the DMV, but it's really nice. There are also water fountains if you need them. read more

Roses roses roses! This is the perfect place for engagement, graduation, selfies, family photos and more. I stumbled upon this completely by happenstance when looking for playgrounds. Yes, there is a playground here that is not worth a shout out, but those roses brought joy to my heart. There is ample parking and tons of walk ways to explore through the park in North Arlington. I've been trying to get outside in nature more during the pandemic and some friends recently recommended visiting the Bon Air Park. Two of us visited the park recently and were able to socially distance while enjoying the beautiful roses in the rose garden. The garden isn't huge, but its very lovely. The roses were in full bloom when we visited last weekend and there were roses of various types and colors. I love their little nature garden, full of other types of flowers (and also bees, so watch out!), as well as their walking/hiking trail. There are plenty of benches around and there are great shaded (lots of lovely trees) spots on which you can picnic. There are also tennis courts, if you are so inclined. This is a great park and parking is very easy (their parking lot is connected with the rose garden and there is ample parking). I will definitely visit again! read more

This is such a beautiful park and rose garden. I used to come here as a kid, and I used to say that this was the place I wanted to get married. Not much has changed - I still want my special day to be full of pretty roses. No matter what your reason is for stopping by this park, you are sure to feel surrounded by beauty and tranquility. This is definitely an oasis worth relaxing at, or stopping at during a walk or a run on one of the adjacent trails, or while visiting the neighboring park or tennis court. There are many benches and fields nearby, so this would be ideal for a picnic, barbecue (Grills are nearby too) and the like. Can you tell I'm obsessed with this? I absolutely love this park. I took a visit today in preparation for a small picnic I want to host. When you first get there you can't miss that amazing rose garden. Immediate photo opp. So much green everywhere that you can have a lunch picnic on the floor or enjoy a bench or picnic table. The trail continues (I believe there is a path to bluemont park) and you can see more open land, playground and grills. They also have a sheltered picnic area that you will need a reservation for. Everywhere else is first come first serve. Looking forward to enjoying this little place more often. Also lots of trees for shade. read more

Very awesome park!! Not sure how big it actually is but it seems to keep going on and on... Paved trails that lead through the park. Very nice. Not too heavily populated either! The are various gardens along the way. A flower garden. A wooded garden. Places where you can wander and relax. There are also many pavilions and picnic tables for use. You have to get there early on the weekends in the summer... They fill up fast. Seems like everyone just wants to be out and grilling or picnicking. Smell of charcoal in the air. Plenty of garbage bins around too. So all in all a great park to visit. Aplenty of access points too. Some more crowded than others... Just find your way and have a great time outdoors!!! read more

Another birthday stop was Bon Air's rose garden in Arlington (i love nature in controlled doses), and I really wish we'd brought lunch so we could picnic here. The rose garden itself is laid out nicely and for the most part is helpfully labeled. It's not very big, which is fine, and the rest of the Bon Air Park is about 23 acres. I wish more space was dedicated to the roses, but there are also tennis courts, picnic areas with grills, a stream running through the back, and apparently some other gardens (sun, shade, ornamental trees) that we didn't see. There were lots of people here with bag lunches and families running around, so even though it was a pretty hot day it would have been nice to throw a blanket down and drink some bubbly or eat a crudite platter. Also it's in a nice residential area so there isn't a load of street traffic and is generally pleasant. read more

We went to this park to enjoy the first real warm day we've had this year and it was great! Even though none of the gardens, particularly the rose garden, were in bloom, it was still a pretty park. We only ventured as far as the first picnic area, but there was quite a bit more to the park. We were there to enjoy a day of bbq-ing. There are several grills there that are in various stages of cleanliness. I would invest in some grill mats. The bathrooms were clean. I can seen parking being a problem in the summer when everyone is here to BBQ because it was already almost full that day. Will definitely be coming back when the roses are in bloom. read more

Fun park with a great grassy area for frisbee or soccer and a beautiful rose garden. They also have a jungle gym with sand for the kids.

What a beautiful park! So clean, and well kept up. And the roses are obviously cared for by people who are trained master gardeners and know what they're doing. I have never seen so many different varieties of roses, and even in the heat of summer they are beautiful. I'm going back next spring when they are really at their peak. I also enjoyed the perennial garden, the shady garden, Four Mile Run, and the bathrooms! There is also a nice playground and picnic area, and lots of green open areas. But, the rose gardens are the crowning glory! read more
