Falls Church's hidden gem. Woodland themed park with 3 slides
    Rebecca C.

Falls Church's hidden gem. There are 3 slides, 2 regular swings, 1 baby swing, and one seat-style swing, a sandbox, and a basketball course. It is woodland themed with the main structures looking like trees and two toadstool tables with toadstool benches. Tree coverage makes this park usable even on hot summer days. There aren't bathrooms or I would have given it 5 stars, but otherwise it is perfect.

Add bathrooms and you'll have a 5 star review from me. Cute neighborhood park that is small and quaint, and yet just enough playground to give kids a good go for what they are seeking after -- good quality fun! They have 2 playground areas. 1. Swings and miscellaneous 2. Climbing equipment. The climbing equipment is perfect for your ADHD rug rat who enjoys swinging from the chandelier at home. Bring them here and it will certainly wear them out if you give them an hour here. There's tons of open space to run. Basketball court and small park garden are nice added touches for scenery. Oh yeah! Shade.... there is plenty of shade under the trees.

park is temporarily closed. Lots of construction. Other than that it's a fun park when it was open.

It feels good to escape even for a few moments. There's a lot of greenery. The paved path is pleasant. Also it's well maintained. There is some wildlife to see, although not too high on the excitement o' meter. I have seen small fish in the artificial pond. Am not certain what species they are. Considering the area, and its proximity to the beltway, glad to be on foot sometimes.

There will eating fifteen gallons of yoghurt (The British spelling of yoghurt. Not the American way of yogurt) either. I don't  need to tell you what Dr. Kellogg's response to Mr. Lightbody was. Anyhow, the first run was hard and painful, but still enjoyable. I could feel my heartbeat thumbing and light sweat breaking out by the time I finished.  I had set some goals, but that didn't work out to well in some areas. I did; however,  make it two times running around the pond without stopping and two times walking.  I will do another run on Sunday. I have figured out yet, on working out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday yet, but I will think of something. Just need to get into a routine. 6/12/20 Today I will try four sets of twenty push ups, squats, crunches and more stretching.  This will be  lighter workout, but something worthy nonetheless.  I am also thinking about lunges too. Maybe over time develope a better stomach and ass than I have now.  Well time is a wasting and I have work to do. Update: Change of plans. I ended up doing an hours worth of Zumba with my wife. I might not have sweated as much as her, but I can feel the workout I was doing. I still having some trouble with Michelle Vo's squats/stomach crunches. I feel I am not doing them right at the speed she is doing them. Nevertheless, I will do it slower so I know I am getting them right. I did 40 pushes with 40 more to go before bed time. I am sore, but feel better.

And then we just kept walking into this incredible park. As we walked through the gardens, there was an explosion of baby rabbits hopping about everywhere. My kids loved it, and I admired the beautiful gardens. I don't know if this is a wedding or events venue, but it should be because it's beautiful. The house and barns look like they belong here, as though someone might be living in them, except there's no driveway, there are public benches, and a few commemorative signs nearby. But at first I questioned whether we were in a public space or someone's yard. On the negative side, there were homeless looking guys sleeping on several of the benches. They woke up and disappeared not long after we arrived. The park is great. There are logs the kids can play on, in what appears to be a colonial reenactment area. My kiddos liked walking along the logs and jumping from one to another. There's two distinct play areas but both are great for toddlers and little tikes so I wasn't able to distinguish them very easily. The swings were a hot item when we were there, but there just aren't very many of them for a Saturday morning toddler rush hour. There is also a tiny house structure but it is slightly too large to be fun and too small to be interesting, no kids played in it except to inspect it. The sand volleyball court was also popular, as our kids joined others in excavating the volleyball service area. Luckily they didn't get very far by the time volleyball players arrived, though it wasn't for lack of effort. The park also has tennis courts and a basketball court, and there's a really nice nature trail along the edge of the park nearest the houses that back up to it. We walked through these flowers and gardens to find butterflies, bees and more rabbits. Also a nice feature, although there weren't very many picnic tables, there was one barbecue pit for people to build a coal fire. There was a very small pavilion area as well. I liked this park for the "nature in the city" feel. We were only a block away from fancy pants coffee shops, but it felt secluded and beautiful as light filtered through the enormous trees adorning the property. Other park visitors kept telling us about live music and imploring we check the schedule, but we aren't interested in that. This park is great with or without those concerts for me, and would be a really awesome spot to stop by anytime. I do not know if they have restrooms around, but with the restaurants and coffeeshops nearby, you should be okay. I think we spent about 5 hours here on our first visit and we didn't even really play in most of the park, so it's good for a long or short visit.
