I have been in this store several times and the owners Amy and John have always been very nice to me. I have been in both the rail yard store and the Marcy Street store. They even fed me some great French pastry on one occasion. I have seen many people come and go and I was in the store when two ladies took extra brochures because they needed something to write on. The owner was very nice about it but said please take one and write on that if you need to but printing colored brochures is very expensive and if it's scratch paper you are looking for I have a paper bag you can write on. The lady said something I couldn't quite hear but left quite abruptly. I didn't think the owner was being rude. Some folks are just hard to please I guess. Anyway, I've bought some of their shoes and cushions. The items they sell are not inexpensive but it's like Mom used to say, "you get what you pay for". Long story short some of these items are years old now and have been left out in the weather (sun and rain) and they haven't faded or fallen apart. I can't say the same for the Chinese items I've purchased at Wal-Mart. I always try to support our local businesses first and use Wal-Mart as a last resort. I just had the nastiest customer service experience with this store I think I've ever had. I saw online that they sell Fermob bistro tables and chairs which a client of mine is looking for. I was reviewing the online listing, trying to gather pertinent info to share with the client - ie cost, colors, availability, shipping time in transit so they could make an informed decision. The shipping time wasn't listed online but I saw they had a customer service chat function. I sent my question on shipping time and waited a minute for someone to connect. They sent "?????" and "are you there?" right when they connected. Weird. I wrote back hello and they said they needed to know what color to answer. I shared the potential color. They said it was in stock, goes out within week of the order, and ships fedex. I asked how long it would be expected to take in transit. (This was my question initially). They said they don't make any promises. I said is there an estimation... 2 weeks, 5 months, roughly what should we plan for? They then wrote "why would you say that when I just said one week?" But as you recall, I was told after ordering, they ship out within one week. They never said the timing in transit. Then they disconnected. I was dumbfounded! Needless to say I absolutely will not recommend my client orders from Bon Marche. Hope this customer service person has the day they deserve. read more

Defective items and threatening customer service. This vendor shipped me a defective table, and when I sent evidence was told "send us pictures so we can file a claim on your behalf, otherwise we cannot proceed." This does not follow US trade law, where regardless of a claim or not they are responsible for non-defective items. When I reminded them of their responsibility and graciously laid out options, including sending back for a normal return, they called me at SEVEN PM at night to threaten me and my family like thugs. I cannot get over the disgusting behavior of such thugs, this store is like a criminal enterprise. They may just get defective merchandise from Bon Marche and try to pawn it off onto customers who do not know better. Avoid this vendor at all costs - they don't even provide a price advantage vs. the Fermob website, or even Pottery Barn. I tried to support a small business - however an attempted scam and criminal behavior is what I was rewarded with. I may have to file a restraining order against their bizarre and undignified customer service representative, Jean Phillipe. Don't waste time, just buy from Fermob directly. read more

The staff at Bonnemarche went above and beyond my expectations to ensure I was choosing the best colors and items for my patio furniture from afar. They're very knowledgeable and showed expertise about their product lines. I was concerned about what was in stock in the fall given how quickly things were being purchased from the store inventory as I was shopping online. They sent me photos by text and gave me their personal recommendations for combining colors if my goal was to receive my items from in stock quickly rather than waiting an additional six months for a specific color. Their recommendations were spot on. When I had a slight issue with one of the pieces due to a delivery company disregarding their strict order to leave items on the pallet (I didn't realize the implications) they were so fast to provide me a remedy that ensures the item will be protected and in use for many years to come. At that time I could tell the person was feeling a bit overwhelmed with demanding and perhaps slightly unreasonable, perfectionistic customers (like my normal self but let's be real - these items are costly!) given everything that's been going on in the last two years... I could tell he was truly concerned about my concerns and so it made it easy to work with him and soothe my "customer monster side" that comes out if I feel I'm being disregarded. I think given global shipping and production issues that if you're just a reasonable human and talk with the store owners even before placing an online order you will be delighted with service and outcome. I highly recommend calling to place the order. they even told me how they had to hire their own trucks to go to the port and pick up merchandise and order table to sell it as it was taking so long not only for the ships to be unloaded but for the prearranged ground delivery to take place. Let's face it lots of companies are struggling like this and it demands our thoroughness and patience when setting delivery expectations as we choose a vendor. After enjoying my Ethimo six chairs and table in the fall and now able to use them again in the Pacific Northwest spring (sunbrella cushions from the company store), I would go out of my way to purchase from Bonnemarche in the future, especially compared to big name corporate places that have treated me poorly in recent years with lack of knowledge, inaccurate availability estimates and inability to cancel delayed orders because they are shipped directly from the vendor (pottery barn, rejuvenation, WS, etc.). read more

Cute little shop! We wandered in after a trip to the farmer's market. My friend was enticed by the bags hanging out front. She was looking for a new one. We were greeted by one of the owners. She gave us a lot of information of how they get the fabric from France, how it's made, etc. We looked at the bags - not a whole lot of styles but my friend found one she loved and bought it. I loved the style too, but I wasn't a fan of the colors. I follow on Facebook hoping that they come out with the bag in new colors! They also have shoes, pillows, fabric and maybe a few other small things. Definitely a niche type shop but cool! Check it out if you're in the area. From fabric, to umbrellas, furniture, table top and accessories all in the finest quality fabrics from France. The designer color combinations in bold stripes made me feel like a kid in a candy shop!!! There was no product that I didn't want to take home. Not to mention a charming pair of espadrilles, or a sassy bag to tote around. I wanted to adorn my world in a color kaleidoscope...French style. My casita in Santa Fe was boldly trimmed in bubble gum pink and I took my outdoor living area in my courtyard to the next level by ordering custom cushions for my dining table and benches. I couldn't be more elated with their fine quality and it's stated elegance. It has transformed my out door living area completely. Not only did it bring a new level of upscaled class and comfort but combined with the surrounding flowers and landscape it is a spectrum of complementary colors... a Santa Fe paradise. Such a change. The pandemic has made things very difficult for many merchants, but it's how you deal with adversity that marks you. Had a beautiful experience with the woman running the shop a few years ago (bought a couch, chair, table and accent lantern) and returned expecting that experience. Quickly learned that was the world Pre COVID. Was actually mocked by the male who now seems to be in charge who let me know very quickly that my little 2 chair order (does say min of two on the website) meant nothing more than an annoyance to him. It takes a lot to make me feel like utter crap and this man achieved that easily. They should shut their doors to street traffic until they want to or rather CAN treat people decently again, and explain clearly that they just can't get inventory into the States this year and they haven't had time to update their website. That we can understand. By the way, the Fermob distributor for the entire US does have an in stock inventory list up. So you can save yourself hours of wondering, designing and planning that you can get anything this year by going there. read more

on 6/9/2021 I placed an online order for an in stock item, which was confirmed as in stock by Jon Phillip (JP) on 6/9/2021. Their website states that due to Covid, the shipments for in stock items are taking from 5-7 business days. Following the placing of the order, I received a confirmation email siting shipments usually within 3-7 days. on day 3 (Monday 6/14) I sent a polite email just checking in on the expected ship date suggesting I was hoping it'd be shipping by the end of the week. No response. On Wed, (day 5), I called and left a polite voice mail asking the same. No reply.... Friday morning I sent another message requesting a status update at their earliest convenience. Within an hour, I received this (verbatim, including misspelling) "Respectfully if your think we are not fast enough let us know, we would be more than happy to cancel and refund your order. We do have overall 700 orders to ship. It is on a first come first served basis, by respect for other clients that have ordered before you, we cannot ship your order before their's. Please let us know if you would like to cancel your order We already have a long waiting list for your table. Thank you The Team" I replied back "Respectfully" and sited their website and confirmation emails shipping schedule and reiterated that I'm merely asking for an update or expected ship date, of which they still hadn't provided. I then received an order cancellation email. They cancelled my order!!!! When I called them to find out why, JP was very rude saying that everyone wants their orders NOW and they can't fulfill them all so they're just cancelling them. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional outlet such as this. When I told JP he was rude he said NO, it's just their culture. Well, I just can't with that..... The products they sell are top quality but too bad their customer service is less than quality. I will spend my time and hard earned money elsewhere. read more

I recently ordered furniture using their very user friendly online site. But it would have been a mistake to simply order without speaking to JP and his colleagues. They took the time over the course of three phone calls to understand the intended use and location for the pieces, they sent and received pictures of pieces and color options and all in all spent over an hour making sure I was on the right track. At the end of it all I wound up with just the right array of pieces and spent less money than I would have had I gone with my first options. I've seen a couple of comments about sales staff attitude and I have NO idea what that could be referring to. Like, NO CLUE. These are some of the friendliest people I've ever bought from. Perhaps some folks confuse enthusiasm and passion for the product to be arrogance but in my experience it was just someone who wanted to make sure we were happy with our purchase. I have recommended them to everyone I know who I think might need their wares. If you're thinking about buying peruse the website, but by all means call and speak to them about your needs. They are terrific! P.S. Style, stripes, customer service! I bought a lovely watermelon striped tray at the Bon Marche shop a few years ago which has made breakfast in bed happy ever since. I also ordered a cross body clutch bag online today. I called the shop to check on the patterns and colors whereupon the owner offered to text me photos of the extra colors and styles that were available so I could hone my choice. I took a recent trip to Santa Fe and found this delightful shop. I loved the beautiful, vivid fabrics so I bought several dish towels for my kitchen. However, it wasn't until I got home and actually used the towels that I found they were so wonderful!! They are super absorbent and maintain their beauty throughout the work I give them. I am an avid home chef and I have never found towels like these! When I got home, I decided to order more via the website but found that the store special wasn't on the website. BUYERS BEWARE. I would give this store NO STARS, but I don't how. The owner of the company, Claude is extremely difficult to deal with. He is very aggressive and extremely argumentative. I purchased a item and was having it shipped out of state. When I did not receive an email confirmation, I contacted the store to get the tracking number and the email confirmation. Claude took the phone and was very resistant to give me the tracking number. Then, he gave me an incorrect tracking number. When I called back to request the proper tracking number, he actually refused and hung up. When I called back again, in utter disbelief, he hung up again. I should have known better; while shopping in the store he was incredibly rude and dismissive to his wife in front of the customers. She is lovely and was quite embarrassed. If you treat your wife like this, of course customers will be treated much worse. Never again. read more

This is the perfect shopping experience -- fabulous high quality product, knowledgeable and very charismatic owners who are passionate about their product, deliver on their promises and care about customer satisfaction. We serendipitously happened upon their store on Saturday, by Monday both owners arrived at our house to take exact measurements and provide samples for custom outdoor cushions and table runners, and by Wednesday the beautiful completed pieces were delivered and installed in time for the 90 guests we were expecting that evening! We anticipated a delivery of two to four weeks for this custom order, not under two days! Yes, we were blessed with great timing because they were able to work on our order while waiting for materials for another -- but regardless, there is no other business in Santa Fe that delivers custom orders this quickly. And if you love vibrant colors which bring joy to the heart, you simply must treat yourself to Bon Marche -- you can't help but walk out of there happy . read more
