Their booth at the FM yesterday was only selling tomato plants no actual fruits but she told me that they sale to local restaurants and that Olivia's can not get enough of their Black Cherry for their salads - that was enough to sell me on one of those babies. I also purchased a Texas Wild which she described as putting out fruit all summer and even hard to kill in the greenhouse when they want them to stop putting out fruit. Pamela is very passionate about farming and explained that she did not even like tomatoes until her husband made her sit down and eat one of their family heirloom tomatoes. She tried hard to sell me on one of those but I know my backyard growing conditions and have never had success with large tomatoes so I stick with the Cherries. Pamela also gave me some great tips such as using hay or oak leaves as mulch and putting some tin foil around the bottom of plant to keep bugs off. They also set up a booth at the downtown FM and in addition to tomato plants they sale jalapeno, zucchini, nasturtium, oregano and chocolate mint plants all 2.00 each except tomatoes 3.00. My issue was coming here on a Sunday, the aisles were backed up like I-35, it was horrible. I sang out loud to myself, "where is what I'm looking for?" Then an HEB employee helped me, but didn't give me a specific aisle number. I interrupted this other employee from stocking and he stopped let out a huge sigh, and gave me the correct aisle number. Hey, it wasn't my idea to build such a giant mega store having things spread out so wide that you end up lost trying to find ingredients for the week. They should start handing out maps with legend when navigating through this place! Geez louise, if I'm ever in the area, I'd avoid this at all costs!

Luckily for us, his recommendation was spot on as La Ola is a great little ice cream shop with a large variety of different cures to whatever your sweet tooth desires. Parking is pretty accessible as it's in a small strip of stores and restaurants and there's ample outdoor seating as well to take in a nice summer night. The interior of the store is also nice and clean, making you feel like you're in a well run place from the moment you step in. We ordered a banana pudding scoop in a cone and a scoop of the Cookie Monster in a cup. The line here moves pretty quickly which is good so we didn't have to wait long from the moment we entered to the moment we began eating outside. The ice cream was delicious. The banana pudding tastes just as advertised with chunks of Nilla wafer throughout the bites, incredibly spot on. The Cookie Monster also tasted great, essentially a cookies and cream scoop dyed blue, but why not have a bit of fun with it? The whole experience was great and if ice cream isn't your thing they have numerous other options like shakes and ice pops to get you by. The only ding we can think of is that the trash outside was overrunning and looked like it hadn't been changed in hours. Nevertheless, we're very glad we stopped by here to get a sweet treat and would highly recommend it to anyone in the far South Austin/Kyle area looking to cool off on a summer night.

After today can confidently say that we will be shopping at the Kyle location from now on. JD the new manager greeted us as soon as we walked in and our experience only got better from there. He was super helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the products in the store. He didn't try and upsell us or sell us products that were not appropriate for our individual needs and goals. I've not experienced that level of customer service in that store EVER, which is why I would drive 30 minutes out of my way to get what I needed. I am grateful to not have to do that anymore!
