Drumsticks

First time i've been to a bonchon and I was crazing fried chicken. The location is right in a mall shopping area/strip. Plenty of seats and it's clean and the food comes out quick. The staff was friendly and the manager was a cool dude. Ok so the prices are up there but bear with me. For the food you get the price matches. Let's talk about how the drumstick was the size of my hands. I don't know where they get these super sized steroid chicken from but DAMN! Literally 5 pieces with the soy garlic sauce for $19 and a side of radish and when it came out I could only eat two pieces. I think this is def made for a bigger group of people lol Their menu is pretty diverse . If you want to get completely filled with food go here.

My daughter has been telling me to try Bonchon so finally here we go. I visited the one in the Lefante Way plaza, Ashley the nice lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. The store was nice and clean. The decor is cute. Now for the food! It's was a bit of a wait but that's fine since it was made fresh to order. I am not a sourced wings type of woman but who is soft soy garlic wings were amazing. The chicken was seasoned. It was double fried so the crunch was amazing and the sauce enhanced the seasoned chicken versus it doing all the heavy lifting. I also ordered the bow bun with fried chicken that was super delicious. The bun was soft. The slaw and fresh slice of cucumber paired with the crisp seasoned chicken was fantastic even when it was cooled off over an hour later the chicken was still crunchy. I have a new favorite place to visit for delicious wings. I'll definitely be going back to try other items from their menu and I'll update this review. Stay tuned!!

Yay. It's finally opened. The last time I went to a bon chon was 12 years ago. They do have mucus and music videos playing on tv screens for your entertainment so that's a plus. The place is clean and the interior is very pretty! Service is helpful and they are very patient. If you're in a rush then order ahead of time.

I was told that not all Bonchons are created equal, and that statement holds true. This location was excellent. The service staff were very friendly and helpful, and everything I ordered was fresh. The place was clean, and I especially enjoyed their bibimbap bulgogi. I highly recommend this spot if you're craving Korean food.

Wow. You would think this place would be on point for first 2 weeks of opening. This is the most disappointing Bon Chon Chicken location. Where is the training and leadership for this place? Paid $40 and got 20 SOGGY wings and 10 SOGGY Pot Stickers. Never coming back. Good luck on staying opened.

Coordinating a group that size is never easy, but the staff was very accommodating they kept things moving, checked in often, and made sure we had what we needed. The food was a1. From the grill the short rib was the star! the hot pot miso soup was everything and satisfying just what I needed to combat the cold weather. There was plenty to go around, and the interactive cook-it-yourself vibe made it perfect for a group celebration. Definitely one of those meals where everyone is talking, laughing, and tasting a little bit of everything. That said, there were a few notes. A couple of items were brought out that we didn't order, which caused a bit of confusion at the table. Nothing major. Even with that, the experience was fun and delicious overall, and I genuinely had a great time celebrating here.

I opted for the mushroom soup and it was pretty flavorful. There are a variety of vegetables, meat, seafood, noodles, etc. to choose from. Some of my favorites include scallops, dumplings, udon, and fishballs. There is also a birthday freebie but you have to bring 3 other people with you. For $32 AYCE, it wasn't bad at all! I would return.

Love going to Cast Iron Pot, but was getting tired of hauling out to the Signature past Fort Lee…read more So I was pleasantly surprised to find one closer to me in SI! Service was prompt-- we were seated almost immediately once our whole group was gathered, and immediately began to be served. Meats came out fast. They have a 3 meat at a time limit here, but given that they're doing most of the cooking for you, it helps keep things fresh and things are coming off the grill pretty quickly anyways, so the limit does not really come at the cost of velocity of consumption (if you're that kind of AYCE eater). Service here is pretty proactive, coming by regularly and taking orders promptly. We got a mix of meats and sides throughout. Pork belly is a winner, both slabs and slices. Beef intestines were not as we remembered from other locations, but nonetheless good. Sliced beef brisket and jowl are also good cuts for folks looking for something new. Not too much of a fan of marinated meets, but I'm sure they'd live up to the same level of quality too. One huge plus about this particular chain (for which you do pay a bit of a premium in the price) is that they have pretty amazingly efficient grills and vents, such that you can largely avoid smelling like your AYCE KBBQ afterwards. Pretty uncommon, and totally forgivable when it happens, but a nice plus for this place!

A Decade of Love on a Plate: A Local Favorite That Punches Above Its Weight…read more This place is the definition of a neighborhood gem--the kind you almost want to keep secret, yet can't stop yourself from praising. Cheap and cheerful on the surface, it punches way above its weight class, delivering inventive, clean, Asian-inspired food that's masterfully cooked by clearly skilled hands--and made with real love. I've been coming back year after year for most of this restaurant's 10-year lifespan, and that consistency is no accident. Every dish tastes intentional, thoughtful, and deeply satisfying, with a clear goal: to feed people love on a plate. It's a super veggie/vegan friendly that easily wins over even my "meat and potatoes" husband--who happily cleans his plate every time. In an era where genuine hospitality feels increasingly rare, Perry single-handedly restored my faith that quality service is not extinct. Warm, attentive, and authentically kind, Perry makes every guest feel seen, welcome, and cared for--without pretense or attitude. This is food that nourishes, service that uplifts, and a place that keeps you coming back not just for the flavors, but for how it makes you feel. A true neighborhood treasure.

I've seen this restaurant circling my YELP for the last few months and put it on my "want to try"…read morelist. This place is absolutely solid! If you're looking for good flavorful food options, this has got to be on your "must try" list, I genuinely do not think you'll be disappointed. I ordered the blueberry lemon iced tea, maitake mushroom medley with the option of udon noodles & added chicken, the coconut curry with the option of ramen noodles and the rice pudding with caramel sauce for dessert. First things first, my absolute FAVORITE thing about this restaurant is the food contains no GMO's no preservatives, pink Himalayan salt to season and NO REFINED sugars- only agave and palm sugar to sweeten. I WISH I would've known about this spot sooner JUST for that detail alone. I am always on the hunt for a place that offers refined sugar free options, and with that comes this level of safety knowing what I am consuming has a heath standard/holistic approach to meet and me not having to feel guilty or worrisome after a meal. Absolute 10/10 in that aspect. I saw a few reviews mention the blueberry lemon iced tea, as someone not even a fan of lemonade I decided to give it a try. Let's just say, I was slow sipping my drinks to not finish it all and avoid getting another in the same sitting lol. It's well balanced, not sour, blueberry flavor is present and knowing it's sweetened with agave led to guilt free pleasure. Would recommend everyone to try it, even if you're not a fan of lemonade like I am. Another mention, lemonade tends to make my throat dry, due to its sourness and tanginess and that didn't happen at all. Think the blueberry was more prominent than the lemon, it was really enjoyable. The curry ramen was a highlight! If your a fan of curry, I think you def have got to try this. I actually didn't get it (my partner did) because I didn't wanna be let down, but it was absolutely delicious. I got the maitake medley udon noddles with added chicken and what a blast of flavor. It had veggies, mushrooms, chicken, udon, eggs, kimchi and was extremely flavorful. I was very surprised that each element of the dish had its own flavor and spice that really jumped out, but paired well together. The least favorite thing for me on this platter was the eggs. Just your standard egg, I'm a fan of soy-marinated eggs on my noodles and not a fan of regular boiled eggs, but they are always an added protein plus! One honorary note, is the kimchi. I like kimchi, don't love it, but this was the best kimchi I have ever had. I even ordered a side to go. Another cool thing is the food is cooked fresh, right in front of you. Tbh, we were the only ones in there at 6 PM and food took quite a while, but I appreciate and prefer freshness over quickness always. The rice pudding is light and the homemade refunded sugar-free caramel addition makes it so much better. As there were only two options of dessert on the menu (rice pudding & matcha ice cream) I decided to give it a go although I'm not really a fan of rice pudding. Was it amazing? No. Would I get it again? Possibly. This place was on the pricier side I would say. My bowl of maitake mushroom w/chicken (added chicken being a $6.50 dollar up charge) was $34. Worth it for that price point? Not really, but good none the less. I also ordered a small side of kimchi (the small clear containers) and that was $7 which I think is crazy, but also it was good. For a better price point, I might've asked for a jar lol. Customer service- the workers were nice, but not really personable, which I don't really care for much, but bringing this up because there was this sense that maybe I shouldn't be in there or they just possibly didn't want to work. I tipped nonetheless, but for being the only couple or people in there I thought we would be greeted by everyone, just a simple acknowledgement, but it felt more like we were bothering them by walking in. I understand that people have their days and you have no clue what someone is going through personally, but it was distinct enough to mention- especially as someone who never really comments on the customer service aspect. I see through it cuz the food was great! Something about it was also just a let down, but I can't put my finger on it. Although it was good, I don't see myself frequenting this place. Maybe the price point is deterring me, but I do think it's worth a try!

Stopped by this place and was so impressed…read more The menu is very big with a mix of Thai, Chinese, and Japanese options. Everything came very fast, hardly had to wait for our food. You can also see the chefs cooking in the back, and everything tastes so fresh! The place was very small, with very little walking space, so definitely expect to get cozy. But it's nice to see what everyone else is ordering, since most people there seemed to be regulars, and all of the plates here look and smell really good. We got a few plates to share with the table. Starting off with the calamari appetizer, the pieces are a good size and they taste quite fresh. The pad see ew has a great mix of noodles, chicken, and vegetables. Didn't feel like there was too much of anything, everything was well balanced and tasted very good. They have a large menu of sushi options, and the scallop sushi tasted very fresh. The mango chicken has a sweet and sour taste, with bell peppers, mango slices, and rice. The teriyaki chicken and shrimp combination is a huge plate with a wonderful presentation. Very flavorful and filling. The only thing I didn't like was the Thai iced tea. I personally am a huge fan of Thai iced tea, but the presentation wasn't very appealing and the drink was way too sweet for my liking. Probably wouldn't order again. I noticed there were a lot of delivery people coming in to pick things up, so I can tell this is a well loved spot. I loved everything I ate and would definitely come again!

Super cute small local business that sells "homemade" Korean kimchi with a small weekly menu…read more It is located in a cross section of Bay Ridge Avenue and Colonial Road next to a pizzeria. They specialize in a variety of jarred kimchi that you normally see in grocery stores. The price per jar is anywhere between $10-$15. They also have a weekly (changing) menu offering Korean homemade soups and lunch. I got a pork kimchi ($13 after taxes) and it was delicious. This brought up so much childhood memories of a time when my dad worked at a local Cheung Fun place in Chinatown. You feel something inside that you don't normally get when you go to a crowded / fancier restaurant. It feels like "home" in a sense. I love a small business like Kimchi Kooks Kate's Kitchen because it adds characters to the local business. :) The staff are friendly and because there is an open kitchen, you can see them make your food. I picked up a small jar of their classic white kimchi ($8.32), which I was so excited to try because white kimchi is traditionally made with pine nuts and it's difficult to find a nut-free version at supermarkets. I thought the kimchi had a pleasant tang, though it was a little savorier than I expected. The variety of banchan was also excellent-- I counted 21 different dishes as well as 4 different types of sauces. I picked up a miyeok and dubu muchim ($8.32) which was a seaweed salad tossed with firm tofu crumbles. I intended to eat it for dinner, but I finished the whole container before I got home because it was so addictive and delicious. If you have any questions, a staff member is at hand but everything is neatly labeled with an explanation of ingredients. Their kitchen is open on Wed-Sun so I'd love to return to try a weekend special, which rotates on a weekly basis. Kimchi Kooks is located a short walk away from Owl's Head Park and the pier, so I would definitely recommend grabbing a few banchan to-go if the weather is nice! PS- A staff member kindly let me know that all the kimchis are nut-free and that if you bring the glass jar back, you get $1 off your next purchase.

Such an incredible gem…read more We were in the area before a show, and with all the amazing options in Sunset Park, this place was pretty much at the tail end of the Chinese part of Sunset Park before it ascended into the Latin side, where Chinese restaurants are pretty much your typical takeout (can someone explain this??) style. The decor, from the outside to the inside, was so inviting--it really felt like I was at a small family-owned eatery in Asia. Best of all, the employees were so warm to us. We were looking through the menu thoroughly since Fuzhounese food is still very much unfamiliar territory for us Cantonese folks, and the kind cashier gave us full-sized (!!!) fried buns to sample. We were immediately sold and got an order of 5, which we had to take the rest home but they were so good, despite having no meat - this is a great option for vegetarians. The sliced beef mixed noodles were incredible - it looked small but the mixture of garlic, and spicy peanut butter was so perfectly flavorful and the generous portions of beef made it perfect. Also got some refreshing fresh fruit drinks to cool down, which were wonderful. Prices were so reasonable and the seating is good for 1-2 people. Can't wait to come back!
