The broth has no taste, as if they used the reused the water they used to boil the noodles and didn't bother to make a real broth. The beef is soggy and tasteless. The noodles are mushy, 3/4 of the way to disintegration. I finally learned my lesson with this place. I don't eat Chinese food often but when my co-workers want to grab something together, we take a walk to this place. Twice I've been ripped off. My co-workers and I went at 1pm for lunch. I ordered the boneless spare ribs lunch special. She asked if I wanted the combo, I said yes. The menu said the combo is $9.95. The staff said my total is $11.68. I was confused by the high price. After I paid, I examined the menu being confused why it was high, and what was the difference between lunch special and combo if both come with fried rice and egg roll. She couldn't give me a clear answer other than the lunch special ends at 3:30pm. Ok but it's 1pm. Then said combo is bigger and soda is NOT included. You have to pick between egg roll or soda. But my meal is the same size as my co-workers who also ordered from the lunch menu. So I'm guessing we all paid for the combo instead of lunch special. After I left, I saw on the receipt I was charged $10.95 instead of $9.95 for the "combo". My co-workers also found that they were overcharged when they looked at their receipts. Out of desperation, I called in a General Tso's Combination with Pork Fried Rice for $10.50 and I never tasted such a flavorless Chinese food before in my life. I don't know what it was, lack of soy sauce/salt?? It just tasted very bland to me. The General Tso's felt like it needed more heat and more soy sauce. The fried rice might as well be white because that's what it tastes like. I should've asked for 20 soy sauce packets because that's what was missing! My boyfriend and I were looking to try a new Chinese spot and deviate from you usual. I decided to go out on a whim and try this place despite the horrible reviews. It was really hard for me to decided whether 3 or 4 stars was appropriate. I'm giving them 3 stars because while some of the food was good, it seemed to be a hit or miss with some of the items. In addition to that, one of their menu items was priced incorrectly resulting in a hire spending amount but I'll get into that later. We ordered: Half Chicken with House Special Fried Rice (Tasted A-M-A-Z-I-N-G) Half Chicken (Again....flavorful) Crispy Chicken 7 Flavor (Tasted Great!) Thai Pad Thai (Horrible - They didn't even use Pad Thai Noodles and was on the dry side) Fried Squid in Chile Sauce (Meh - Fishy taste and not as spicy and flavorful as I had hoped, I guess the fishy taste overpowered the flavor. ~~TIP: DEFINITELY DO NOT ORDER THIS IF YOU'RE EXPECTING A FRIED CALAMARI TYPE DISH!!~~) With this purchase, we received a free 2-liter soda (mwnu does not indicate what coupons they offer). They are a bit more pricey than what I'm normally used too but if you stick with the usual stuff and nothing usual chinese spots DON'T have (i.e. Fried Squid, Thai Pad Thai) this place will definitely satisfy your taste buds! Just be aware, some items on the menu may be priced differently that what it says. i ran into this issue with the Squid. The menu said $8.25 but when I double checked with them, they said it was $10.75. When I told them what the menu said, they didn't offer to change it all they could say was "No, it's $10.75, the menu is wrong." So just keep that in mind. Also, there is only street parking so it could be hard to pick up an order. The service was slightly below average but that's usually how it is with most chinese spots. Other than the minor menu issue I had, overall, I would definitely come back here for the basics, not the Gourmet food suggested in their name. read more

My family and I usually order from this restaurant by my house but no more after tonight. The lady forgot to put my rice in my bag which I didn't realize until I got home. I called she apologized and said she would bring the rice to my house but it would take 30 minutes because it's busy. Fine, we are all human we make mistakes. 80 minutes later, still no rice. I call back she tells me that she is busy and asks do I really need the rice tonight?? I guess once they got my money they didn't care about me anymore. This is probably the worst food I've ever eaten, no joke. Ordered pad Thai and subbed out egg and shrimp for tofu. It was mushy and taste nasty. I can say with sureness that I will never be a customer of theirs again. This was inedible food. When we called to complain quality we were met with rudeness and no refund or exchange. The food was good, the shrimp broccoli was good, but I don't trust this place. I got a free box of white rice with my order and thank goodness I didn't eat it. I left it in my fridge to eat it the next day. I microwaved it and it smelled like burning plastic. The consistency felt like fake snow or the contents inside the diaper that soaks up liquid. There were two reviews that gave this place one star. I now know why. Let's just say the best tasting item from what I ordered was the plain white rice that came with the chicken and string beans. How has this place not been reviewed yet? I must order from here once a week at minimum. I'm seriously becoming Sandra Bullock from Two Weeks Notice. I stock up on my Chinese orders bc it's so good and I want a variety! It's quick (less than an hour.. usually like 35-40 minutes), they know where my complex is and how to access it, and they never screw up the order. Plus, the food is pretty delish. I'd highly recommend their noodle dishes, dumplings, juicy mini pork buns (i.e. soup dumplings), or combo/lunch specials. It comes neatly packed and the pricing is not outrageous. You can go online to order from them, so you don't even need to have a conversation with anyone!!! They also accept credit cards or cash. I've been trying to find a decent Chinese takeout place in Jersey City since I moved here 2 years ago and after 3 failed attempts on 3 different spots I just gave up. This past weekend I decided to give Lin's gourmet a shot after reading other reviews and I WAS NOT disappointed. We ordered the steam pork bun which is really tasty! it's no Joe's Shanghai soup dumpling but it's really good for a regular kind. Beef Chow fen is as good as you can get in a takeout place and that's what won my heart. If a Chinese takeout place mess up Beef Chow Fen then you can skip everything else all together. We also ordered 2 veggies and they are on the lighter side, they are not salty nor drenched in soy sauce so you actually taste the flavor of the veggies. I have unusually high expectations for Chinese food after 4 years of college and ordering from every spot within a 10 mile radius of college. So after a long shift, and a strong craving of Chinese, I found myself ordering enough food for four. So on my binge eating event, I got steamed chicken dumplings, chicken wings, veggie lo mein and shrimp and broccoli. Chicken dumplings were ok, nothing specular. Prob will try them fried next time. Wings were salty and crispy and amazing, nothing beats that. But the star was the shrimp and broccoli. Large shrimps and crunchy, al dente broccoli that wasn't too soggy or drenched in sauce. One of the best take out places in all of Greenville. Prices are a little higher than some but remember, you get what you pay for. Love the boneless ribs. No fat and moist. Chicken and broccoli an all time favorite. Asked for fresh mushrooms to be added and they were without an issue. Will customize your dish anytime. Consistently good food, and I've ordered numerous times. I always order on-line then pick-up; never had any problems. One thing though--some of the on-line prices are not the same as what's on the current menu, but only by cents. It might be significant on some items where you place more than one order; a good example is the fried chicken wings which has a 50-cent difference, so that's already an additional dollar on 2 orders. I usually protest chinese for dinner but every once in a while I have to give in...but I've gotta say, I haven't had anything for Lin's that I haven't enjoyed. I called to ask about this portion and all he explain to me was that no one ever complained. That's what you say when a customer has a question?! The worst Chinese food and service ever, don't believe the "gourmet" name. Its easter Sunday and my family and I were busy doing easter stuff. We come home late and had to order out which we dread in my area. Only thing open was this place with the name "gourmet" Chinese food so we decided to gave it a try . We saw beautiful pictures on Yelp" which are fake" and thought it must be great we ordered everything vegeterian and didn't get vegetables .No vegetables!!!!! Straight garbage and my family being that they was so hungry and late we ate it. Its now got us sick from all the oil.
