She has cut his whole back half plus his ears and front feet, plus he got a bottom half bath - never thought he would let anyone else touch him! Larissa is so careful with him; everything is slow, he gets lots of treats for smelling the scissors and letting her snip, smell and snip, very slow. We go in together and get the job done. When one has a pet like mine, finding partners in his care is essential to securing his future. We have a regular vet, a behavior vet, a KPA certified trainer, and now Larissa, who helps us ensure our boy doesn't look like a little ragamuffin like he did when we rescued him, and helps us teach him not all humans are mean and can actually be really helpful. From the moment you walk in, you can tell how incredibly clean and well-organized the space is. Every single pet there is calm, happy, and clearly well cared for, which says everything about the environment and the people who work there. The staff is beyond friendly, always smiling, patient, and with the best possible attitude. You can feel that they genuinely love what they do. I bring my dog Maximus here for baths and grooming, and Renata was absolutely wonderful. She is highly skilled, confident, and calm, which is essential because my dog is NOT easy at all. She handled him beautifully and with so much care and professionalism. I live in New Jersey, and I still drive all the way to Astoria because this is the only place I truly trust with my dog. That alone says everything. The owner, Vivi, is a real animal lover in every sense of the word. Once we get home, I realize her nails hadn't been clipped. I reached out to them, they stated they forgot to do it and to bring her back in. I brought her in 2 days later and received a call stating that she was ready. We get home and I take her out to find that she was not given a haircut, which is wha I requested in addition to the regular grooming. Their response was, that was what was recommended by the technician. I responded with, I wanted her haircut, not a trim and requested a partial refund for all the issues with her grooming. I was told that if I was unhappy with the grooming, I could bring her back a 3RD TIME to have it completed. They have not responded to my last email. Providing the service that you pay for and customer service have deteriorated since I first brought her in. I will not waste another dollar or minute on the incompetence.

There are times in life when you just can't have your best friend with you--as it was this past weekend, September 27, 2025, when his humans got married. We dropped Rocky off on Friday, and the staff even snapped a picture of him in his "My humans are getting married" bandanna, which was so thoughtful. One of the best parts of Dozo Dog is the comfort of being able to log into their cameras at any time. Throughout the day, I got snapshots of Rocky running and playing with his doggy friends, and before bedtime, they even sent me a "good night" photo. Knowing I could check in anytime gave me such peace of mind. Rocky has also been groomed here several times, and Amanda always does an amazing job--sometimes he comes home with a bowtie, sometimes with a bandanna, but always happy, and that's what truly matters. Over the summer, we even went to their pool party, which was an absolute blast--watching Rocky jump in and out of the pool with his friends was pure joy. However after Jenn left Dozo, we began working with Amanda and she is great! She seems to take really good care of my puppies, and they smell and look awesome! However, the whole experience was very easy and Fuji came out looking amazing. We chose to do the full grooming package, which includes a bath, haircut, nails, and ear clean. Fuji was so soft afterwards, and he also smelled so good. They texted us 15 minutes before the appointment was done, which worked great for us since we only live 10 minutes away. The price ended up being $18 more than what was listed on the website, but it was still cheaper than other dog groomers in the area. Only note I have is that when you make an appointment online, it says that the appointment will only take 30 minutes. However, the actual appointment ended up taking 2 hours. Thankfully, we made an early appointment, so it didn't end up affecting our plans. We'll definitely keep coming back here! The hardest part will honestly be resisting the urge to take him here every week.
