I think this is the WORST Bonefish Grill I have ever been. I have been to one in Alexandria, VA (Kingstowne) and Augusta, GA. This particular location in Dayton, OMG, the utensil had food particle and my water with lemon gave me the bad after taste. I will never go back to this location again. read more

So. My partner and I had been talking about going here for awhile. Finally did that as a Valentine's dinner. Had an early reservation, but they seated us on the side full of people. With a loud kid. But, we ordered our drinks and Bang Bang Shrimp. Shrimp was hot and crunchy, but I expected more. I had a beer, which was reasonably priced since it was happy hour. Partner not so impressed with her mixed drink. We made the mistake of ordering dinner at the same time as the appetizer. When the entrees came out, our server insisted that I cut into my filet as the kitchen "has a tendency to undercook steak". I wanted medium rare. This was still on the cow. She took it back and suggested I "nosh" on my sides. THAT is where we screwed up. My partner's fish had been under heat lamps for awhile and I got to nibble on fries (because there's no baked potatoes???) while I waited for my steak. We later agreed that what we should have done was send it all back and get hot meals at the same time. Her fish was lukewarm, my steak was basically raw and why should I have to eat sides in lieu of my steak? Got a free piece of cheesecake for the trouble. Woo hoo. Didn't ask for it, was nice that they offered, but still. Spent $100 for something that was worth about half that. Been there, done that won't go back. read more

My wife had never been to a Bonefish Grill so yesterday we decided to stop here on our way home from Nashville. The restaurant was surprisingly not very busy for a Sunday afternoon which usually is not a very good sign. Guess what my wife ordered? If you are familiar with my posts here the answer is usually SALMON. She found it excellent. I ordered something very different trying the crab stuffed wolfish which I had never heard of before... I had the 6 oz Filet topped with a Lobster Thermidor sauce. The steak was cooked to my liking and the sauce had chunks of lobster meat. Yuuummmm. The dish came with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli, but I opted for green beans rather than the broccoli. The meal was excellent. read more

Solid as always. I don't really like shrimp, but the Bang Bang shrimp is really awesome. Their fish always tastes fresh and is cooked well. I like how they give you the sauce on the side too. This particular Bonefish had a couple nice local beers on tap, so that's always a bonus. This is a chain of course, but I think it's one of the better, high quality chains out there. read more

Friendly staff with courteous service. Had the favorites like bang bang shrimp, coconut fried shrimp, scallops, sirloin steak, Tilapia and trout. Cooked to perfection. Great assortment of sides too like garlic mash, coleslaw, rice, steamed broccoli, long beans and mixed greens. Came in for dinner a little late just past 8pm. Beer mugs were not ice cold but the great friendly staff made up for it. Manager was actively checking with guest how their meal was saying hi to customers. Our first time at the Bonefish grill. Great atmosphere. Adam was our server, answered all our questions. Did a really good job. We started off with the bang bang shrimp was awesome. Food was ok not great. Service was very slow rarely saw our waiter- would have ordered more cocktails but he never came back.

I went here for an early dinner while in town visiting my boyfriend. Our server was wonderful! Very knowledgeable on the food and more than willing to help us alter sides, etc. without charging us extra. Lilly's chicken was delicious! But then again, if you serve me anything with goat cheese on top I will probably say that! The cheese au gratin potatoes were fabulous as well! As was the corn chowder with lump crab. My only complaint is that my boyfriends 11oz steak was a bit too peppery. But it was still a nice cut of steak. Overall great experience, great food, but especially great service. It was excellent! You are greeted with fresh ciabata bread and oil as well as a jug of water and full glasses. The menu isn't too long which is good because there were so many good things to pick from I had a hard enough time choosing already. I settled with my tried and true favorites, the 6oz filet mignon, a side of scallops, green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. My fiance had the fish and chips. The dishes were nicely presented, though at first my fiance said they could have given him more fries he actually ended up not being able to finish them off, claiming looks can be deceiving when I made fun of him for it. His fish portions were huge and piping hot. My steak was cooked to perfection as were the scallops and both were well seasoned. My green beans were a little too crunchy for my liking but still had very good flavor. The waiter was kind and very accommodating. Great price for the food and the restaurant itself was beautifully decorated. I'm disappointed I had not tried bonefish sooner to be honest, and will be returning soon!!! read more

This was our first time visiting the Bonefish Grill and our group of three picky eaters with moderately high standards agree that this experience was amazing especially for a franchise restaurant. We had a reservation for 17:00 and arrived 30 minutes early. It wasn't busy yet so we were seated immediately. One of our group is a disabled man in an electric wheelchair and the staff were very accommodating and respectful--some places we go the staff and servers won't engage him I guess because they think he can't speak or something, but everyone was engaging, kind, and treated him just like they treated the rest of us. This gets a 0.5 Star bonus. Our server's name was Daemon and he was amazing. He could easily be a server in a much more upscale restaurant and fit right in. The only flaw in his service was a very minor one not worthy of a loss of stars--a reach across the table, but it was only because the aisle was blocked and he really wanted us all to have our drinks refilled promptly. he even apologised for the reach as he did it. Also, the disabled man in our group is the reason we were there as it was his birthday so Daemon provided him with a complimentary dessert and chocolates. Daemon, if you're reading this, thank you. You are amazing. Service was 5 stars! One minor odd thing about this place is that they cover the tables with a tablecloth and then place a piece of brown paper over the table. It gives it kind of a cheap feel, but we agreed it's pretty genius for making turnover faster so we see why they do it. It would be nice though if they were to upgrade the tablecloths, not cover the tables in paper, and use real candles on the table instead of the battery-operated flameless candles. This would provide a classier ambiance. (-0.25 Stars) Now for the most important part of the review--food. We ordered two appetizers: Wagyu Beef and Ginger Pot Stickers, and NY Strip Tataki with a hot mustard and soy sauce. Both of these appetizers were phenomenal, and the hot mustard and soy went fabulously with both. Our three mains were the Wild Mahi Mahi with mango salsa, steamed asparagus, and herbed couscous; a filet steak with shrimp scampi and garlic potatoes; and a filet steak with butternut squash and garlic potatoes. The Mahi Mahi main was perfect and the asparagus and couscous were delicious with it. The filet and shrimp main had a couple of minor flaws with the filet being a little under the requested medium rare temp, the shrimp were overcooked by about a minute and a half so they were rubbery, and the shrimp were also served without a sauce. The filet and butternut squash main was perfect with the filet cooked to a perfect medium rare and served with a delicious Béarnaise sauce. The cooks in this kitchen, unlike in some franchise restaurants, mostly know what they're doing and seem to strive to put out quality food. (apps and mains get 4.33 Stars) We tried three of the desserts as well: the chocolate crème brûlée, the custard crème brûlée, and the macadamia nut chocolate brownie with raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream. Both crème brûlées were okay, but far from perfect as they were served completely cold instead of with the hot caramelised sugar crust and cool custard base that it should be. Both were also served with a large blob of unnecessary whipped cream. The macadamia nut chocolate brownie was served with the raspberry sauce, ice cream, and a blob of unnecessary whipped cream--getting rid of the whipped cream on all of these desserts would be a solid decision. (desserts get 2.75 stars) Conclusion: We'll be returning here someday, asking for Daemon, and probably skipping dessert. Overall we give the Bonefish Grill 4.25 stars, and we'll round up to 5 stars for the Yelp rating. You should definitely give this restaurant a chance if you haven't already, or give it a second chance if you happened to have an unpleasant first impression. :) read more

What a disappointment. I have been here previously and still remember those wonderful meals. This time, well the bread was good. We shared an appetizer, stuffed shrimp, shrimp small and overcooked to the point of being rubbery. I had the mahi mahi, also overcooked, had to use a knife to cut through the hardened bottom of the fish. My husband had stuffed tilapia, presentation poor, looked like it was just slapped on the plate and he had to use knife to cut. Couscous was the winter vegetable served with entree but was cooled down. I wonder where in the world cous cous became a vegetable. We both ordered broccoli steamed perfectly but unevenly salted. Really folks, this was awful, canned tuna would have been better. The portions have been sized down, which is not a bad idea, but the quality needs to go way up. read more

As nice as this restaurant is the employee who runs the reservations is quite empty headed. I came here with my friend and her family for dinner. Her uncle made he reservation for 8 people at 6 pm, when we got there they said oh we thought it was only 6 and they had the outrageous thought of cramming 8 people into a booth. Our party ended up having to stand waiting by the door since it was so crowded at that time. We ended up being spilt between a booth and a table. The waitress poured our water and we didn't see her for 10 min after we sat waiting for a refill. The only thing good was the food I ordered, which was the blackened fish tacos that had some kind of sauce and mango salsa in it. read more

Bang bang shrimp was good but extremely spicy. The pot stickers were not hot, were crunchy in some spots and kind of raw in others. Sitting in some weird oil/sauce. Couldn't even finish one piece. Have never had bad pot stickers anywhere before this! Steak was cold and chewy. $200 bill for 8 people. Wish we went somewhere else! Quite surprised how poor our experience was at this location. My wife and I couldn't recall having a bad experience at the locations in Hyde Park or West Chester. Two of the hostesses/servers were having such an in depth conversation that they didn't realize they ripped off the paper table table cloth while cleaning a table next to us and flung crumbs and food debris on us within the first five minutes of being seated. We couldn't believe how oblivious they were. Stuff happens. My steak was rare having ordered medium. Yes, I know this place isn't specifically known for steak, but if you put a filet on the menu, I would hope you could cook to medium. The manager was coming around asking how things were and I only mentioned the steak was rare since he asked. He asked me "what I wanted to do about it". I just continued to eat it because I did not want to wait while my wife ate her meal. Very "production" feeling and not a very good atmosphere or experience for a $100+ dinner for two people on a special occasion. I am not sure why it seems so hard to cook a steak correctly when there are objective measures (i.e. thermometer). This seems to be a trend in Dayton restaurants in my recent experience. We are pretty easy to please and this place is marginal at best. The only reason I did not give it one star is because the server was nice and did bring my wife creme brulee since it was her birthday. I feel rotten to say, but it was bad as well. I have never been to this place before and received an email about $5 martinis all night long during the eclipse on Monday. I seated quickly and ask my waitress for a $5 martini. She says they are not promoting that so I order a $4 Chardonnay. She comes back and tells me they are doing the $5 martini and without asking me orders me one. Now I have two drinks and that's a bit ridiculous. I order the crab corn chowder....not good. Then I order this spicy tuna rice bowl. The tuna and rice and avocado are good but the rest is blah. Not worth the money. I have a couple more drinks and receive a phone call...my waitress comes up to me and interrupts me while I am on the phone. Rude. Food not so good. First off I am a fan of this chain. I have been a customer for many years, I went to this location 3 times in the past 2 weeks. mixed feelings, i would have given them a 3 1/2 stars but its not avail. 1. The food was good, fish was cooked perfectly, appetizer was good but service was ok at best. I asked the server for lemon 5 times and for some reason she kept forgetting or refuse to bring. The food was good enough to were I returned. 2. Second time, service was good, appetizer was good but I wasnt too happy with their special, the king salmon. This type of fish is usually moist and tasty but the way thay is cooked made it dry, and it had too much sweet sauce over it. Not too happy but it was ok. Crabcake appetizer was delicious. 3. I went again and service was good, appetizer was good, the bang bang shrimp and for entree I ordered the crabcakes and they were undercooked. It was soft and creamy inside and I thought maybe it was extra creamy on purpose but it wasnt, just undercooked. I ate some and left the rest, had coffee and dessert which was ok. A few hours later I ended up with a stomach ache, and I am willing to bet it was from the half cooked crab cake. Lastly, I am traveling for work. I am currently living in a landlocked place that has no seafood, normally my experience at the bonefish is better than this but this time it was a hit and miss. We have been to Bonefish twice in this area, Since I had company from out of town there were 6 of us, so the seating was not adequate in the regular dining area, so we sat at the bar area with the raised tables and chairs. First let me say that the atmosphere, ambiance and staff are impeccable! The bread is hot and fresh out of the oven, I was torn with what to order so I asked the waiter his opinion and it was spot on! I got the Shrimp & Scallops blackened and served with the lemon butter- all grilled to perfection! Everyone at our table enjoyed the meal, and was super impressed!.. You can't go wrong with Bonefish.. ***Disclaimer*** If you think Red Lobster is good or great, This place is not for you, unless you are wanting to expand your palate and have some REAL seafood. read more
