The prices listed are not the regular price instead they are a "perk" price with the actual price in very small type below the "perk price" for a paid membership- which a very rude employee abruptly explained when I mentioned that there was a discrepancy in what the listed price was and what I was charged. I have been buying all my pet products from this business since they were a small shop on Sunny Dunes. Now they want loyal customers to purchase a membership while deceiving unknowing shoppers charging a higher price. My husband went here cuz our dog had a tummy issue while we were in Palm Springs for the week back in Dec & it's close to our friend's house. The guy who works here (husband doesn't recall who) was SUPER helpful - recommended to give our dog carrots & kefir instead of powdered probiotic. Worked immediately & has become part of his regular diet a few times a week - no tummy issues since! Amazing. Thank you!!!! Amazing shop I've been coming here a little under a decade now use to love going to the small shop on sunny dunes, ever since my dog was born I've spent so much money here I absolutely love it! Incredible employees and great small shops, from goats milk when my pup needed to be bottle feed to the nutritional dog food they have with so many toppers and incredible homemade treats, the only thing I can give a negative response to is there reward system! Ever since they changed it during Covid It absolutely makes no sense, I buy so many bags of food and spend 200$+ about every 2 weeks and never get a free bag, it use to be every 10 bags you got one free which makes it so easy and convenient, the employees don't even understand the reward system. my dogs about to be 8 and he's so healthy but unfortunately since Covid everything is so expensive and I've had to reduce spending and can barely just buy just his single bag of food, and Rottweiler eat a lot, I always look forward to that free bag and it seems like the points never move. Sucks to say but with petcos free delivery, discounts, and buy 9 bags get the 10th free and all the other competitors prices it seems like you should be switching up your reward system back to the way it use to be, or get an app that customers can keep track of there points so they know how if it actually works and what to expect from watch purchase. My dog Bobby loves it here but we just can't afford it anymore and it's makes me incredibly sad especially for how long I've been loyal to this company. read more

It's the best dog food we've researched and found for our fur zoo! They carry other 5 star quality food lines like...Nulo, Signature, Kasiks and Origins... Last time I was in I asked a question and was hesitant about trying a new freeze dried method of food. The type you just add water and "poof" it's a meal. I was so happy the girl behind the counter offered a sample and it made the process easier! They have an excellent assortment of cat food too. I will give a customer service shout out to the girl at the front with the pink and fun colored hair! She's dynamite and gave me a few samples of hard kibble for my cat and great advice on how to integrate the food into her bowl. IT WORKED! She's got kitty voodoo because I thought it would be impossible to trick my snobby cat. When I travel back to LA I actually load up and buy the bulk of my food from this store vs ordering from an online retailer. #supportlocalbusinesses I also get some great samples and an over all nice attitude from a staff that is helpful but not bothersome! We use to shop there for both of our dogs food. One of our dog developed diarrhea over from the food. The other dog we purchased the soft slightly cooked food for. She developed severe pancreatic and had to see the vet twice and be on medications for weeks. Our vet told us that the so called holistic, grain free, freshly cooked food can be very bad for your pet. Please check with your vet before you purchase any food that is slightly cooked. Most of the employees at the store are not trained at all. read more

I adore this place and the people in it. I come here for all of Aiden's food and treats. I love how they carry all natural, by-product free foods and other essentials. I often buy their homemade doggy frozen yogurt for the hot summer days in the desert. While their selection of toys, shampoo, and pet accessories are limited, that is not the true focus of Bones n Scones. Bones-N-Scones is my favorite place to buy dog food and supplies due to their great customer service and awesome selection of all-natural, human-grade, species-appropriate pet foods and treats. As the sign above the door says, this is a health food store for pets. The focus at Bones-N-Scones is on high quality boutique brands that use ingredients sourced entirely in the US and Canada. Most, though not all, of the pet food brands they carry also use human-grade ingredients. About that: Only foods like Honest Kitchen that use ingredients USDA inspected and approved for human consumption AND manufactured in a human food processing plant are allowed to carry the human-grade label. Brands like Orijen and Acana use ingredients passed fit for human consumption but are manufactured in the company's own processing plant, which makes nothing but their pet foods, so they can't use the human-grade label on their packaging. They do, however, tell you about the human-grade status of their ingredients on their website. Any company that doesn't do that, I would strongly suspect that their ingredients are NOT approved for human consumption. Someone said that pet foods at Bones-N-Scones are a little overpriced -- no, not really. Prices are comparable to or even a bit lower than what you would pay online. The reason prices are high is that these are ultra premium foods. You get a kibble like the Orijen we buy that consists entirely of free-range, hormone/antibiotic-free meats and eggs, locally wild-caught fish and fresh vegetables and fruits with zero cheap fillers like grains or potatoes, well, OF COURSE that's going to be pricey! Granted, things like supplements, shampoo, chews and toys, you may be able to find a little cheaper online, but we like to support locally and independently-owned businesses -- especially when the people running the store are as awesome as Kathy and David. Both are knowledgeable about pet nutrition, and customer service at Bones-N-Scones is always top-notch. Plus, they're very generous with samples, which is much appreciated. Bones-N-Scones also has their own bakery where they whip up biscuits, scones, cupcakes, cakes and other treats. Last time I was there I was given a freebie biscuit that smelled so good I was seriously tempted to bite into it myself. The dogs were very happy I didn't; they absolutely loved it.
