Stopped in here on a rainy Sunday to watch golf and met Anthony, who was holding down the fort solo, bartending both inside and outside bars and serving all the tables as well. He immediately served us and never left our drinks empty. We had wings and turkey tips. Hubby said wings were some of the best he's ever had. I saw what others at bar ordered. Was not impressed at all with the look of theirs. It's all personal preference. Went for the first time tonight and our overall experience was ok. Nice folks and service was pretty quick. The food was ok, but unfortunately it was not great. We started w/Fried Mozzarella wedges. The tomato sauce was very bland & tasted like canned tomato paste. Hubs ordered a Philly Cheesesteak and was underwhelmed. He said the bun was mushy & that a sandwhich like this needs a more substantial bun. He had shoestring fries with it. He would not order this again. I ordered a House salad with Italian Vinegarette and Ava's Lasagna. The salad was fine but the dressing was bland. The Lasagna portion was a little small but with the salad it was enough. It wasn't as good as homemade and again, the sauce tasted like canned tomato paste. If we go back, I would order something different. But to be fair, this place is really a sports bar, so I think if you stick with burgers & barfood you will probably have better luck. read more

There are only a few places in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area which serve great wings. This would be one of them. My wife and I were scouting this somewhat new venue to see if they were worthy of more visits and possible social gatherings. They seem to have a nice, cousy outside area with a small bar and some tables & umbrellas. Unfortunately February is not the best time for outside dining in the Lowcountry. When we came in, it was "seat yourself" even though nobody told us. Even though my tab said Bar B1, I believe our waiter was Pat and welcomed us by asking if we wanted a beverage. I asked "what's on tap" and he responded quickly with "BEER". OK, we're off to a good start--- waiter with a sense of humor. I had a Damn Yankee ( Southern Barrel IPA) while my wife had a Yuengling. Service was excellent. I ordered 12 wings---- 6 "Yikes" which are slightly hotter Buffalo style wings as well as 6 Cheddar Jalapeno (Pat recommended as well). My wife ordered the mozzarella wedges and some chips and salsa. The wings are excellent. Crispy, tender, well seasoned and sauced. Plenty of celery and blue cheese (real blue cheese dressing with chunks). The tables are plenty and good for groups. Lots of TV's and big ones at that. There are 2--4 TV screens which probably equal 100 X 100 or more. Not confirmed, but I would guess this is a Philadelphia Eagles bar. The owners came from different wing venues to start JVZ and I'm only guessing that there was an Eagles fan, Washington fan (can't say Redskins anymore), Braves and Gamecocks. Why not 5 stars? A bit disappointed they ran out of paper towels in the bathroom. Always be sure to take care of the rest rooms from a hygiene perspective as well as making sure you encourage your patrons to wash after using the facilities. We also ran out of paper towels at the table where each table gets their own roll of paper towels. I hope there's not a paper towel shortage at JVZ. Walked in on a Friday night about 6, no one in there but a couple people at the bar. That probably should have been our clue something was not good. Very very friendly waitress walked over took our drink order. Another waitress came took food order, we ordered fried prickles, nothing special at all, in fact quite greasy. My sister ordered Greek salad which was large and really good. Husband had wings, smallest wings ever saw, burnt, cold. When dinner was over still no one in the restaurant part, took us awhile to get the attention of the 2 waitress who were chatting at bar to get bill. It was disappointing the place is very nice in there, kinda sport bar vibe, we had stopped in several times for just a drink at bar. Went to JZV for the first time last night (2//0/23) after reading a lot of recommendations for this place on a post that was on a local FB page. My family showed up first and took a seat at a high top table in a pretty empty establishment. They were served their drinks shortly after they arrived. My boyfriend and I showed up shortly after and we were greeted by the same waitress who promptly took our orders for drinks. ... So far, so good... Sadly went down hill after that. Apps were ordered, queso steak nachos and wings. Wings were good but queso, not so great. Took forever to get a second beer. Food came and we were definitley not thrilled. Fish and shrimp came with four small shrimp and a very small piece of fish. Steak and cheese sub was smothered in what looked and tasted like melted cheese from a can. Waitress never came back to table after food and second round of drinks were served. Very disappointing after reading so many comments about how this place was the nightlife of Bluffton and had great food. Worst part of the night was AFTER my boyfriend finished his second beer, we were waiting for our bill and just happened to look at his empty beer glass and it was FILTHY on the inside. We were horrified. It had a film inside the glass. When the waitress finally came over we mentioned it to her and she laughed and said... "Oh! All our pint glasses are like that! They are clean but they are a year old, so you know...". We reply... "They are not clean", and proceeded to show her how when we wiped inside the glass the filthy film in the glass came off. She was horrified and said... "Maybe we need a new dishwasher", and walked away. She came back and told us she took the last beer off the bill. ... Gee. Thanks. We weren't looking for free food but maybe a comment saying... I will definitely let my manager know so hopefully we can get this fixed. But Nothing. We arrived, greeted promptly, server was sweet, and served our drinks immediately. Now we go downhill. Onion Rings were burnt and soggy, could not eat. (She did credit these off the bill) I ordered the fish and shrimp basket which came on a silver pan, not a basket, 6 shrimp, I only ate 2 as these were the toughest I have ever had, fish was one piece fried so deeply that the meat of the fish was non-existent. Hubs had the fish sandwich that was to have cheese, no cheese, very small piece of fish, chewy sandwich. All around very disappointing. What an incredible hidden gem. Only been open for about a year now, and already ridiculously impressive. I'm a wings and beer guy, and wow did I come to the right place. Those wings were the absolute best I've ever had. It shows how much they care about what comes out of that kitchen. Everything from the warm greeting from Dezirae and Brooke, to the conversation with one of the co-owners, this place is awesome! Only get one star because I can't leave zero. Placed a to/go order and never received any notification it was ready. Was told 25-45 min. I walked in 30 min after placing the order and my food was sitting there already cold. When I grabbed the bag and asked if it was ok to take it (I only asked to confirm my card was charged) the balding douche-canoe at the counter responded with "I don't care." What angers me the most is I tipped 15% on a to-go order! Food is room temp- so of course it's awful. There are much better options. Edit- the boneless wings are not hunks of chicken. They're coated clumps of processed junk. Chick Fil A nuggets are better than this garbage! read more

Not sure if this place is still open but when I went there in early June 2023 the bartender immediately told me that the previous owner failed to pay his taxes and they lost their liquor license as a result but will get it back in a few days. I was still served alcohol and told I would be charged for a Pepsi and where is says to leave a tip that is where I pay for the alcohol. I did this for them. When I came back later in June 2023 still no liquor license and they were still having customers leave huge tips to pay for the alcohol. They were putting lots of pressure on customers to do this. I felt pressured, and got nasty looks from the employees. Shady and dangerous place. read more

The service and food is excellent!!! We had their Greek, garlic Parmesan and Pittsburgh wings. The wings were big and sooooo amazing! The onion rings were really, really good! Homemade and beer battered, not frozen. They had a Philly cheese steak sandwich on the menu.
