I absolutely loved Seth's class. I've done a handful of other hot yoga classes and several yoga classes for year's. He was patient, offered adjustments, kind, and grounded in his teaching. The studio is in an area with lots of parking. There is a changing room and one stall for a shower if you're needing to jump from hot yoga to a Bubbles N Tea date (which is across the street and delicious). I will definitely consider the drop in class for $20 and the 2 weeks for $40 intro package. I dont live in the area, but I could see this being a great spot to check out if you've got a commute and want to dodge traffic! I wish I did live in the area so I could embrace this emotional and physical release more often. read more

Not to be basic, but if I could do 0 stars, I would. I'm home from school and decided I wanted to try a hot yoga studio here at home, so I decided to try a class here. I took Laura's class, and she was such a sweetheart and amazing at teaching. I do hot yoga nearly everyday but I was not used to this type of yoga. I got extremely dehydrated, dizzy the second I walked into the studio room, so I decided to lay in child's pose the whole time, just to be safe and avoid fainting. I noticed another worker (I'm not familiar with her name) giving me very rude looks during the class, which made me feel like a distraction despite my efforts of staying safe. After the class, I quickly felt sick and ran to the bathroom where I was excessively vomiting in the trash can (all stalls were taken, it was my only option). It was embarrassing, but it happens. Not one person stopped and asked if I was okay, and about 10 people walked by me. When I went to tell Laura, she was busy so I asked the other worker available. She was extremely disrespectful and told me to clean it up and go take the trash out myself, after I told her I felt extremely dehydrated and ill. She didn't ask if I was okay or if I needed help with anything, all she said was, "Yeah can you take out the trash yourself." Seems like a biohazard to me, and heck if I even knew where to take the trash to. Additionally, I was visibly shaking and my voice and body was obviously showing that. I was utterly shook that she had asked me to do this and her attitude was undeniably sassy. I have never felt so unwelcome and humiliated. I told Laura and she immediately told me to go home and feel better, and that she will take care of it! Thank god for Laura being there or else I would have left the studio bawling my eyes out of embarrassment. There must be policies for cleaning up things like vomit, and I don't think that a visitor is in charge of doing that! If I knew her name, I would contact the studio directly and inform them. I felt so unwelcome after speaking to her and I pray no one else has had a similar experience with that worker. Every other worker was so sweet and helpful, though. While I am new to Bikram yoga I have practiced Hatha yoga on and off for years. Hall Street offers a friendly atmosphere and an average of 4 classes a day. All classes are 90 minutes, going through the standard Bikram Poses (teachers do not change the routine). There are 30 mins between classes on average and I have always felt welcome to go in a little early or stay a little more to relax/meditate. I have enjoyed all the instructors I have encountered so far, some seem to keep the room a little hotter than others and might occasionally hold poses a little longer (could be my aching muscles though). If you like Bikram/Hot Yoga then I would recommend Hall St. They offer first timers an unlimited month for $29. Update: After 4 months of membership I am bumping them up to 5 stars from 4. She's truest a keeper in yoga's world. I recently visited this studio while in town for a weekend. I normally practice in Los Angeles, at a gorgeous studio, so do have a high bar. That being said though, come on Portland, you can do better. I will give them 2 stars because they are at least all Bikram classes, and have a lot of class times. That's about it though. LOCATION: This studio is in a strip mall in Beaverton. Blah. However, if it were nicer inside, that would even matter. FRONT DESK: I found the front desk girls pretty friendly, but I did have to sign a waiver, which after I got into the class was HILARIOUS. This yoga was NOT strenuous enough to require a waiver. NOT BY A LONG SHOT. STUDIO: The studio itself was not very nice, it was kind of dirty, only had one shower, and felt a bit like it was someone's house converted into a yoga studio. The carpet in the practice room was SO GROSS! The entire room smelled. However, the BIGGEST, most glaring issue was THE HEAT! This room was NOT, in any way shape or form, heated to 105 degrees. I practice almost daily in a studio that has an actual temperature and humidity gauge, and I KNOW what 105 feels like, and they were NO WHERE CLOSE. I almost walked out of the class when I realized it was pretty much just a slightly warm room. There is absolutely zero chance this room was over 90 degrees, and it felt like it was about 80. For Bikram yoga, at that point, I don't even want to do it. The heat is a key component of this practice. TEACHER: I wasn't terribly crazy about the vibe here either. The teacher was a little bit snotty, it seemed that the whole studio had a bit of a pretentious vibe, which was funny to me because the room WAS BARELY EVEN HEATED! I was in class just thinking, why in the hell are you people taking yourselves so seriously if you don't even have the damn heat on!!?!?!? In summary, I wouldn't go back, nor will I, nor would recommend to people. I would expect a studio like this in the boondocks of Nebraska, not in Portland, Oregon. read more

I love Bikram, and I have been practicing for a very long time. I am new to this studio, new to Oregon all together and I have been to 3 Hall St. classes. I have a few complaints. I know the room never reaches 105.. I often hardly break a sweat in that studio even when I push my self extra hard. Almost every studio I have practiced at has a Temp gage on the wall that the students can see. I would feel better if they had one of these. I feel ripped off not practicing in a room that is not 105. Even when I go to the morning class the carpet is so stinky, usually studios clean their carpets every night , this place obviously does not... which is a bummer because then students get fungus on their feet from the bacteria in the carpet. I have honestly found myself tip toeing in there, scared that I will get athletes foot.. The teachers are great, I have no complaints about them, as always they are trained to perfection and hold a very professional class. HOWEVER they are always letting people in late, or the front desk person will come into class to give the teacher a note. It is so distracting. I believe once the door is closed, and class has started, that door should not open again until after class. Also the bathroom floors could use a good bleach scrubbing... and while they are at it clean the womens shower more then once a day. the women do not clean their hair out of the drain and the shower curtain is disgusting.. I have stopped using the bathroom there all together.. and that is my two cents. read more

Oh my word...I really like this place!! I had never tried hot yoga before coming to this studio and I was hooked after my first visit. I recommend reading through the 'Prepare' section on their website before your first visit. It's always a good idea to be in the know so you can be safe and enjoy the experience. Make sure to have a mat, towel and water. And honestly, within reason, the less clothing the better. You will want to get there a little bit early, but not too early. Mostly because the doors will be locked while a class is in progress, in order to ensure security. If that happens, people typically just wait patiently by the front door till someone can come open it up. From the moment you walk in you'll get just a taste of the heat that is coming. Leave your shoes at the door, and if you have any personal items you can leave them in a communal cubby space or they have separate locker rooms for men and women. I like this place is very welcoming of everyone and they never seem to turn anyone away. This has made for some very crowded classes, but the more the merrier right? You may be in close proximity to others, but you just need to be smart about staggering where you stand on the mat so you don't bump into people. The class goes through a breathing exercise, the 26 poses and closes with another breathing exercise. People of all skill levels are there, and I feel like it's a very nonjudgmental group. The instructor will walk around and help to correct your pose if need be. Since it is the same 26 poses you really get to know them and can continually work on improving them. Not to mention, you can't beat the great feeling you'll have after you have made it through the 90 minute class! I always walk out of there full of such great feelings. Depending on how often you plan to go and what your schedule is like it can seem a bit pricey. They do offer package deals, so that's one good way to save. And I seem to find them on Groupon quite a bit, so I snatch those up when I can! read more

Who says the Oregonians aren't friendly to out-of-towners (particularly out-of-towners from that state to their south)??? NOT the case at Bikram Yoga Hall Street. From my first encounter with them over the phone to the cute postcard they sent me in the mail, my experience with BYHS was warm (or, well, 105 degrees HOT) and welcoming. Instructors all seemed very genuine and equally attentive to newcomers and seasoned yogis alike. Perhaps the mid-day classes are just poorly attended, but the yoga room and the whole facility feels luxuriously spacious. If you like your personal space, this is your Bikram studio. (One slight downfall is the fact that there is only one shower and only one toilet in the women's changing room. But waiting in lines makes for friendly chit-chat.) The yoga room also didn't seem as swelteringly hot as other studios I've been to. I already feel a bit let down to be returning to my cramped hometown yoga studio. I'll be back to BYHS the next time I'm in town! read more

I have been to two classes so far, and let's just get something out of the way. This place is NOT for beginners such as myself. I know that everybody says that you're never too old, too young, or too inflexible to begin yoga, but I'm not buying it. I literally cannot get into any of the positions at all, and I don't think grown men are meant to contort themselves in these positions. I do have to preface this by saying that I am fat and stocky, with my only form of consistent exercise being weightlifting. I find myself thinking the whole time..."When will this torture be over". During both classes I attended the heat can be downright overbearing. I have wanted to walk out of the room both times I was there, but basically my pride wouldn't let me...LOL. I did have to stop a few times and just lay on my towel to catch my breath. I will say that the instructors have never made me feel bad or out of place because I can't do the poses, I just do the best I can. It at least makes me feel better to see other men struggling the way I am. The only guys who were flexible enough to get into all the positions were the ones you could tell have never touched a weight their whole lives. Now don't let my bitching keep you from giving this place a try, just make sure you have at least some basic experience with yoga before going. I bought an unlimited month membership so my pride isn't going to let me quit, even though I want to...LOL. read more

First Yoga Experience: Wednesday, 2/27/08 Oh my thighs...my back...my spine...my legs...my butt...my neck! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!! Seriously though, nothing actually hurts though I do feel tired. Tonight was my first dip into the world of Yoga. To add the heat/humidity to it was taking a risk, but my skin already looks 50% better for it! Release those evil toxins! The studio is really nice and though I felt awkward being somewhere I didn't know well, about to do something I had never done, it turned out to be a really good experience. Stephanie is a great instructor and very supportive with a newbie like me. Gotta say that the one bathroom stall, one sink, and one shower in the women's dressing room isn't so great if you really need to use any one of them right away. Still....the yoga classroom is nice and roomy with the size class we had. I rode the MAX to Beaverton Central and just walked down Hall right to the studio, so convenient location, even if you don't drive. Hmm...I wonder how I'll feel in the morning. I may just get the best sleep I've had in months! I'm off to bed now. What a night! 3/1/08 Update: Legs hurt a little on Thursday. Back hurt a little as well. I went back to the studio for more torture on the Friday (2/29) and though they turned up the heat, it was a better session in ways. I did not hurt today. Unfortunately, it hasn't helped me to sleep, but the class is helpful because I can think of little else but trying to be in the right position and making sure my heart doesn't beat too out of control for 90 minutes. An hour and a half of not thinking about the things that cause you mental pain....certainly worth any physical pain. 3/5/08 Update: OH CRAP...I really did hurt myself this time. I strained something during my 3rd (and final as far as the free week trial) class on Monday (it's Wednesday now and it still hurts). Guess I shouldn't have stretched out as far as I did but when the instructor says REACH, I reached! SO, taking a couple days off to recover. If you're thinking about going though, now's probably a good time. You get 30 consecutive days for $30 and I don't know how long that deal will last or if it's always around. It can be a bit expensive after the 30 days, so use them well! read more

This is a super solid Bikram yoga studio. It is quite large, the people are super nice, the studio and facilities are clean and the atmosphere is, cheery and happy. I signed up for the 30 day newcomer pass after realizing that I am horribly out of shape and need to rectify that situation ASAP. There are two reasons why they have 4 and not 5 stars. To earn 5 stars from me, as a Bikram studio, you MUST have rubber or bamboo flooring. With that said, their carpets are obviously shampooed regularly because they did not smell AT ALL. Additionally, there is only one shower stall and it is a unit that would be at home in a cheap motel. Literally, if they changed the floors and put in 2 or 3 showers that used materials commensurate with the rest of their studio's quality level, they would be the best studio I have ever been to! I am going back again tonight for my second "torture session" that promises to have me in bikini shape within two more days. Ahhhh....there's nothing like Bikram. I love it! read more

Located in the heart of Beaverton by Best Baguette and Hall Street Grill is Bikram Yoga. I've done yoga in the past, but have never done Bikram yoga until a good friend suggested to try a couple classes with her. I agreed and decided to join their new member special package for this season for 30 days of unlimited classes just for $29. For those who are unfamiliar with Bikram yoga, you pretty much are doing yoga in 105 degree room for 90 minutes. You want to be hydrated before you head over there so I recommend drinking LOTS of WATER throughout the day before heading to class. I also recommend eating a light snack before heading to class because of the poses and balancing you would be enduring. I also recommend wearing clothes that are not made out of cotton because you will be LITERALLY sweating HEAD TO TOE. There are different fabrics out there that would be suitable for enduring the sweaty exercise. My first trip to Bikram was unbearable. Possibly because it was my first time doing this type of exercise routine. Possible because I wasn't used to breathing through my nose while exercising. Possibly because I was going through my seasonal allergies and it was difficult to breathe. But my goal was to sit through the 90 minutes with the class as a team to complete the time even though I was torn out from the class. I was thinking throughout my time there, "Is it time to go now?", "Has it been 90 minutes yet?". I came home light-headed and wanting to just sleep all night...... My friend who had introduced me to Bikram had said that the only way to get better in the class is to come frequently and that she also had the same experience on her first day. After several classes, I was able to breathe throughout the 90 minutes and gain form of holding the poses. I feel exhilarated after class, full of fulfillment from releasing the toxins from sweating. I am not an expert yet, but I know if I am a frequently coming, I can become a better Bikram student. Overall, I my back that was once tense and full of knots is now free of pain from experiencing Bikram. I do not know if I will stick to Bikram because I am not getting the cardio that I want from my exercise, but if stretching is something for you, then I recommend this. It is a good experience and would recommend this location to anyone who is interested in this intense workout. read more

My experience at the Hall and Sellwood Studios are as follows: I heard about Bikram yoga several years ago and it has always been something I wanted to try. I was told it could be a very challenging class but the rewards could be felt and seen almost immediately. I was told the temperature at which it was heated to and the amount of sweating one can experience. I was told about the benefits it had on strength and flexibility and for many people it really helped to improve their lives. Finally, three months ago I started my classes at the Bikram yoga studio on Hall and Sellwood. Everything I have heard about Bikram yoga is true. It can be intense, painful sometimes, very sweaty, difficult and at that same time relaxing, uplifting, energizing, and very rewarding. I struggled the first couple of classes like almost anything I have tried. I felt that I could never even get close to what some of the postures are supposed to look like. But after three months of 2-3 times a week I have noticed how I have improved a lot more than I thought I could. If I could get this far in three months it makes me wonder how much better I could get in 3 more. The staff has always been friendly and very professional. The instructors have always been very attentive and even when there are several new clients have been able to help them without disrupting the flow of the class. Everything about the studios has been excellent they have always been clean and well stocked. One time I forgot my clothes and they even had extras to borrow. Some tips: Arrive early to set up your mat, bring two bottles of water, if you want a more intense workout closer to the heaters helps, and don't wear too much clothing it's too much weight to carry home. read more

I'm in it for the furnace. If you can stay in the room and do each pose correct for just a moment you will feel amazing at the end. There is no shame in laying there for a bit. I just wish all the instructors stuck to the 105 degrees. I don't really think you can call it Bikram, if it's not 105 degrees. This place gets 3 stars for the great instructors, great parking, and mostly great adherence to the 105 degrees I'm coming for. Huge stars knocked off for the horrible pet store smell. The carpet seriously needs to be replaced. I had to scrub the back of my mat to get the smell off it. read more

I'm giving Bikram Yoga 5 stars because this studio introduced me to hot yoga. I have only been to one other establishment that offered hot yoga. Bikram is just too conveniently located to go anywhere else. I like the discounts that this facility offers, especially there groupon for returning customers. I also like most of the instructors. They all seem very into there job and the act of yoga. They def give the impression that you should absolutely not leave the room before the session has ended. If you do leave, they will call you out in front of the class. Nothing belittling or mean, just kinda awkward. I've done a lot of variations of yoga in my day and I feel the the most growth with this yoga. My only complaint is that there is no music accompaniment during the class. read more

I'm a huge fan of this establishment! The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are passionate about bikram and very encouraging to their students. My first visit was awful. I nearly fainted and felt a bit nauseated. I've never had to endure physical exercise in 105 degree weather for an hour and a half. I had to sit out about 30% of the class, unable to continue for fear of blacking out. I literally wanted to claw my way out of the class but for pride I endured. I vowed to never return. 2 weeks later I returned with a friend. I was able to complete the entire 1.5 hr without stopping once! I felt great afterwards in both body and mind. Unfortunately it's hard for me to find time to go before or after work, leaving a max of 1-2x a week I'm able to attend class. But I do highly recommend the starter package of unlimited classes for 30 days for $29! When I first went Wednesday @4:30, the room was completely full. Saturdays @4:30 were much nicer with hardly anyone there. Unfortunately the woman's bathroom features one toilet stall that doesn't lock, what a sight! =( read more

Great program especially for a visiting out of towner. Wood floors were challenging for me but I loved the traditional Bikram practice.

It definitely takes a couple of times to at least get used to the heat. After that, you can adjust and push yourself at your own pace. The instructors do really good jobs to guide the beginners. Also giving alternatives to some of the difficult moves. They had a groupon deal awhile back so the classes were wayyyyy too packed for my liking. I didn't like the constant worry about other people's sweat on my mat; or any sweaty physical touching for that matter... :P I wouldn't mind if they put a limit to the class size so everyone can be a bit more comfortable. read more

I was introduced to BYHS through a friend of mine the other week. She told me it was one of the most challenging things EVER. I myself enjoy challenging things so I took her up on her offer to meet for a class the next night. As soon as I walked in the door, I could feeeeel the heat. I'm from southern California and I could tell that I was about to enjoy 105 degree weather (just like home) for the next hour and a half. About 15 min into the class, I was already sweating like I never had in my entire life. It felt so good but I could smell this disgusting funk coming out of my pores, which really grossed me out. The instructors were awesome and I've since been back for 4 other classes. It's totally worth trying out and paying the $29/month first time student deal. Amazing. Honestly, I could stop there. The staff is encouraging, friendly and kind. That meant so much to me, being new. I was Encouraged to join and even though I've been to gyms and practiced kendo, Bikram Yoga has been one of the most rigorous, challenging and rewarding workouts I've ever experienced. I'm at the end of my trial month now and am going to push myself and do the year. It's already helped my flexibility, my mood and helped with my wrist pain. This is one of my favorite local yoga studios. If you like Bikram yoga this is the place to go. There is a great silent Bikram class on Thursday. I like the diversity of the clientele. There are all types of people: men/women, young/older, different fitness levels. At some yoga studios you see mainly fit 20 somethings in the latest Lululemon coordinated outfits plus the BMW SUV driving soccer mom. I like the vibes here. read more

I used to do hot yoga years ago in San Diego. Unfortunately I moved away from my favorite studio and with traffic it took hours of drive time to get there so I stopped going. I moved to Portland last year and wanted to find another hot yoga studio that incorporates the Bikram poses. I also wanted a studio that offered 60 minute classes and other yoga options. It was important to me that the studio NOT have carpet and be large enough to fit a lot of students without people crammed in to the room. I wanted a studio with great air circulation to make the heat more tolerable. I got all of this and more at Bonfire. The instructors are nice, helpful and friendly. So are the other members. If you are new to hot yoga this is a great place to try out without being afraid. Everyone is supportive and you won't get yelled at for not being able to do a pose. Newbies get applauded at the end of class for just being there! There are so many benefits to yoga and there are various classes to fit every need. If hot yoga is too intense try the gentle yoga. If you want to do hot yoga but can't stretch in to a pose if your life depended on it, that's okay! Lay down or stand in a simple pose and enjoy the heat and watch and learn. No one is perfect in these classes. It is a clean studio with areas to store your things. You will see familiar faces as you keep going because so many people have been here for years. If you want to improve your mental and physical well-being I recommend Bonfire. There are also advanced classes for expert Yogi's. So happy I found this place. If you are new just make sure you call them and get everything you need to prepare for a comfortable class (water, towel, mat etc,,). I've attended this Bikram studio for eight years. I've attended about 10 other Bikram studios around the Portland Area and Oregon, and this would be my favorite studio. Outside of occasional furnace problems (most hot studios have these), the experience is very consistent. Bikram Yoga is not for everyone--it's a real workout, which is exactly why I go 3-5 times a week. One of my favorite features of the studio are the fans, which are mercifully turned on when it gets almost unbearable, so that the heat doesn't become the only thing going on. The men's dressing room is too small, but the owner assures me that will be addressed during the next remodel coming up this year. This is a large studio. I've been in there when there were 70 people in it (not my favorite experience!), but usually there is plenty of room even with 30-40 attendees. Average class size is around 25. There are over 30 classes per week, so it's easy to find one to fit your schedule. read more

I heard about Bikram yoga a few years ago and was dying to try it. When I saw a Groupon for Bikram Yoga - Hall Street, I jumped at the opportunity. After my first class, I was hooked. I've taken yoga classes before but I did not practice on a regular basis. The instructors are always very positive and helpful. As someone who hasn't practiced for years, its nice to have gentle reminders of what each pose should be. Each class challenges my flexibility, strength, and will power. And it feels so good after each class knowing that i worked hard and sweat - - A LOT! If I could make any suggestions to anyone interested in it: TRY IT! At the very least, its a great workout. This is a fantastic yoga studio. It's very clean. The floors in the studio room are a beautiful waterproof wood-look surface, which is perfect for hot yoga. What I really love is the diversity of yoga classes. From Bikram to various vinyasa classes to yin and yoga nidra, there are plenty of options to keep you from getting into a yoga rut. They also have many many different workshops. The vibe is friendly and supportive, never pretentious. The prices are on par with the going rate for yoga in portland. Are you tired? Stressed out? Sleeping poorly? Sore? Fat? Unhappy? Mean and difficult to be around? One of those people who assumes everyone gets your inside jokes about Battlestar Gallactica? If you are any of these things (and statistically speaking, you probably are) and/or you have zero motivation to get through ANY exercise routine much less one that's 90 CONSECUTIVE minutes, this is the place for you. Here's why... This Bikram Hot Yoga is a pure, intense workout. For NINETY minutes they make you stretch. And I don't mean that pansy, slowly swaying from side to side stretch while Eastern-influence music plays on a boombox. I mean crazy, painful in a good way, LEGIT EXERCISE poses. And on top of that, you are in a room full of super fit people wearing as little as possible, so there's a visual motivation. (They do this to stick it to you, Le Fatty. Actually, no one is looking at you - everyone is just yoga-ing.) The amazing things are that: - Instructors? Super nice. It's yoga, not mean Jillian Whatserface. They WANT you to do well, grow, and there's no pressure - just encouragement. The only thing they ask is that you STAY IN THE ROOM. So even if you can't hold any of the poses the first few times, just being in there gets your body some good. Try to do some, sit out others... it's up to you. - Even though the yoga is hard, everyone is at different levels and no one is judging you. Trust me. I fall out of every one of the "balance" poses CONSTANTLY and just try to get back into it, while some are holding it perfectly the entire minute, and others are just laying down on their backs for a little break. The time flies, and afterward, you feel awesome. Ok? AWESOME. I don't know WHY this is. It's almost contrary to laws of scientific things nerdy people know about. You just got your butt kicked, yet you feel peaceful and insanely proud of yourself for gettin'err done. So... will you sweat, you ask? I don't know, is the Pope Catholic? Do Oregonians senselessly love Subaru's with "Wag More, Bark Less" bumper stickers? Are there annoying teenagers awkwardly holding hands every. single. time. you take your kids to the park? YES, YOU WILL SWEAT. A lot. It's hot yoga, what did you think was gonna happen? Literally, every pore on your body's surface will start pouring out sweat, including the ones on your scalp. And when it's all over, you will feel like the poison and stresses of the day have totally left your body. I'm not kidding. Here are some tips for beginners: -Take a FULL SIZED towel to lay on your mat. They have towels they rent but you should just find an old beach towel and make it your yoga slave. Also take a hand towel to wipe your face over and over again, in order not to go blind with your sweat when your head is hanging. -Take a giant bottle of ICE water. It's hot in there so the more ice the better. BUT... drink a ton of water in the hours before, and try to time it so you have to peepee when you get there. (I have kids. I abandoned proper words for going to the bathroom, like 3 years ago.) During the yoga practice, take small sips. Then after class, drink a ton more. -Don't eat in the 2-2.5 hours before class. I have especially found that if I consumed carbs and dairy a few hours before, then I'm dragging all class. If you can only go in the evenings, the 8:15 PM class is great, because it allows you to eat dinner earlier. Also, this way you get home after 10:00 so the likelihood of continuing your nachos supremos post-dinner snack tradition, is slim. Aka: you will have eaten less, which you need to do because you are American and your portion sizes are twice that of anywhere in the world. -If you live within a reasonable distance, leave a dry towel in your car to sit on, and drive home sweaty to the warm embrace of your own shower. They only have one in each locker room at the studio, and (understandably) they want you to keep it to 2-3 minutes. I personally think a post-yoga shower should be 20 minutes and involve a lot of groaning, so I go home and use up my own water. AND... Don't give up. The first few times are HARD. But your life will change. You will feel better, look better, sleep better, eat better. You will treat others nicer, and your family will like you more. There is a reward, and it's well worth the hard work. And gentleman... keep the shorty-short-shorts in the closet as a reward for when you've reached a certain goal, mmmmkay? They don't care about their clients or wanting to keep a client for life. I bought one of their deals online and yes I know that they apparently expire after 3 months (ok I get it, my fault for not looking at the fine print), but after only using 2 classes (out of 10!) I was (am) going through a horrible divorce. And yes I know I probably needed to be here the entire time to help my body & mind destress, but it's a little easier said than done when going through something so traumatic... but beware that they do NOT care. It was about the bottom dollar & the woman at the front just kept mentioning the money & I can buy another deal. Yah no thanks. I will be finding somewhere that actually cares about their clients. The facilities are great modern and clean but unfortunately the instructor has ruined the experience for me. I would only recommend the class for someone seasoned in yoga and hot yoga at that as I needed to leave the room to catch my breath as the instructor looked at me with disgust and 5 min later opened the door and threw my mat and towel down in front of me on the floor (Ahmad Kouklani is his name). The front desk staff was very apologetic and helpful but my idea of enlightenment and feeling good about myself (which is what he was preaching about at the start of class) doesn't include being disrespected by someone im paying to teach me new techniques. Sunset yoga is right up the street and seems to be a better choice for someone like myself still learning the ropes. read more

Ive practiced yoga, mostly Hot Hotha, Vinyasa/yin and Ashtanga, in California, NYC and more recently the PNW. Bonfire is the real deal. No one studio is the same, but they are all familiar. Some spaces are simple and have room for everyone, others are cramped, have far away bathrooms, pillars everywhere, low ceilings and pipes meshed together feeling like being inside a submarine thousands of feet below the Sea. Bonfire has a huge studio space with windows and thankfully not a rug, no offense to the rug people its just not my thing, good size changing rooms and showers. Wide open and simple lobby with art for sale on the wall. They recently updated their class offerings and I am stoked about the noon classes, I took a kundalini class for the first time and that was awesome and the Hot Hotha yoga is spot on. They are really about the practice and the philosophy of mental and physical progress I highly recommend to people seeking more than a workout, I signed up for the 30 day challenge to take class everyday stating this month, I've never done one before but I get a good feeling from this place. read more

I'm changing my three-star review of the Hall Street location to a five-star review based on what I think is an upgrade in the teaching quality over the past few months. The few classes I have taken recently have all been outstanding. While there are still stinky carpets in this place, there are usually stinky carpets in Bikram studios. If you're looking for a nice Beaverton location with good teachers, I recommend this studio. read more

I was a member of Bonfire Hot Yoga for a year and absolutely loved it. I came in knowing nothing about yoga and at the end left with a love and new found appreciation for the practice of yoga. The staff are all very friendly and I learned so much. The studio is large, light and has wonderful floors for your practice. The studio provides mat rentals for a nominal charge as well as free use of props such as blocks, blankets and belts, and eye pillows. Every instructor encourages you to listen to your body and the classes are filled with diverse clientele who range skill and ability. I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone who is looking for a new studio and even those interested in exploring the practice of yoga for the first time. My favorite instructors are Sasha, Eune, Maui and Sean although every instructor at the studio is outstanding. Sasha has such a exuberant, accepting and upbeat attitude I always left feeling uplifted and energized at the end of each class. Maui is very kind and gentle bringing a peaceful calm to the yin yoga classes he teaches. Eune brings a sharp awareness to the Bikram classes she teaches providing astute adjustments to form during certain postures. I left many times having "ah ha" moments because of minor changes in form she helped me with thus improving my overall practice of Bikram yoga. I also love that I was able to access and sign up for classes by using the mindbody app on my phone which was great. I definitely recommend you give Bonfire a try if you are looking for a studio or even if you are interested in discovering something new. You will not be disappointed. read more

So, after the initial feeling of death, you'll like this place. The heat is one thing, but DOING things in the heat is a completely different thing. But after going for a few weeks now, I can actually feel a difference. I feel stronger, more flexible, and just good overall. The one thing that I would warn people about, is that the instructors don't go any slower, and they don't explain postures in detail just because there are new people in the class. There were two deaf friends in one of the classes I went to, but the instructor didn't really help them keep up with the class at all. So, once you're in that room, you're kinda on your own. read more

Joined for a trial 2 months to see if I could stand the heat w/my husband and 11 year old daughter. I'd have to say it is pretty intense. My daughter didn't properly hydrate before class and she suffered a bad headache during & after class. The facility is large but it still feels so crowded b/c so many people attend & the room is so hot! I would recommend getting to class early to pick a good spot. Make sure you bring a towel, a water jug & a change of clothes! They do have a shower facility if needed. The only reason I take a star off is b/c the instructor in the beginner class just goes around motivating people and not really "teaching" the poses. You have to watch the people infront of you. For a beginner it can get frustrating. We do plan on finishing out the trial period but actually joining is still up in the air but it's not their fault if we quit. read more
