    Plum scone

Such a fun find on the edge of the city! The scone was so light and fluffy - I want to try them all. The apple turnover was also quite good: flaky, not too sweet/balanced flavors. It's a fun vibe inside with people excited to start theirs days with some delicious pastries.

honestly, if I'm in the area, I would want to stop by Bonjour. Any chance that I would get? For a small business bakery, that was on my ones former clients pastel. This is a gem for anything breakfast pastry. Their scones are simply the best I've ever had. I even went for a salmon scone, which I don't normally go for savory, but it hit the Marc. The service was really good and the ambience was a sitdown café with outdoor seating

What a gem! They had a very nice spread of pastries - especially a big variety of scones. The staff were friendly enough and were helpful in giving recommendations. We ended up getting the seasonal apple scone, the always sold out cinnamon roll, a butter croissant, a pancetta scone and a ham and cheese croissant. Everything was really delicious and I really liked the size of their pastries - they were just right. The item that surprised me the most was definitely the pancetta scone, it had so much flavor and the pumpkin seeds were a nice touch. There were plenty of seats and the coffee was good too.

Delectable croissants, scones & many baked goods at Bonjour Bakehouse located at Kitchen Town, an incubator for food businesses. Located in a mixed residential & commercial industrial area of San Mateo that borders Burlingame, street parking is a bit hard but getting to this bakery is worth the effort. I suggest getting here earlier in the morning as they do sell out. We enjoyed the chocolate croissants (called Chocollini), lemon scones and plain scones which were all very very good, with good texture and flavor. Prices are reasonable. Coffee and other drinks are available too. They also offer sandwiches and savory baked items. Indoor and some outdoor seating. We will be back to support this business.

I tried Bonjour Bakehouse cause of TGTG and enjoyed the scones. I'm usually not a scone person because they're dry and hard. But not here, liked the softness and taste. Definitely will be back to try other items Street parking is tough.

Hidden Gem Worth Every Single Bite! My husband and I visited the Bay Area a couple of weeks ago. While searching for good coffee, Google brought up Bonjour Bakehouse, and we are so glad we decided to check it out. The shop is tucked away from the crowded areas; it is a true hidden treasure you would never run into unless you were specifically looking for it.On our first visit, we were lucky enough to meet the owners (a wonderful husband and wife team). They are the absolute nicest people and warmly helped us with our selections. We ordered the savory ham and cheese croissant, and it was out of this world! It had a million layers that were perfectly crispy on the outside, yet plushy, soft, and gooey on the inside. We also tried the goat cheese & honey scone and the cherry scone. Both were fluffly, flaky, and beautifully balanced without being overly sweet. The latte was outstanding as well, though the pastries completely stole the show! Everything was so incredibly yummy that we ended up returning two more times during our one-week stay. Now we finally understand why the whole world goes crazy for French pastries--we experienced it firsthand right here in California

This was a total accidental find and easily one of my favorite breakfast detours ever. We were originally headed somewhere else, but Google Maps had other plans. We got here around 8 ish on a weekday and parking wasn't bad and snagged a spot right in front. They have a cute little outdoor ordering window with a couple seats outside, and the inside has more seating and felt like a legit industrial bakery setup. You can see trays of cookies coming out. The Yelp reviews told me to get a scone, so obviously I listened. I grabbed the plum scone and it was crisp on the outside, soft and buttery inside, and just the right touch of sweetness. I also ordered the mushroom croissant toast and it checked all the boxes. Drink wise, I went with their seasonal orange mocha and it was a solid choice. Rich chocolate and bright citrus is a great combo. Extremely friendly people here! They also had treats for my pup, Mocha.  Can't wait to come back and work through the rest of the pastry lineup

Great little friendly side window that looks into the huge expanse of a commercial bakery. By the time you pick up a delicious almond croissant or mushroom scone with coffee at 7am the bakers are gone to their next job. We're eating what they started around 10Pm at night until 6am and now it's quiet and speed racks are empty. Croissants are fresh as the other baked goods. Coffees are good too.

What an amazing treat the cookies are so crunchy and delicious and very sweet and they taste like real cookies baked from home. Will definitely come back.

Whoever lives in this neighborhood is so lucky to have this little bakery gem!! I was working in the area and craving coffee. Then I looked up French bakeries and this came up. - expect a line (even on a Friday morning) - it sells out fast - it's so delicious. I got the chocolate almond croissant and it's everything and more. I also got the ham and cheese croissant and that was it! All I needed was a side salad. - parking is off street so that can be a challenge but worth it. I parked far away so the walk really helped. - I got the numeric ginger latte - well balanced for me and not overly spiced. I am looking forward to going back, it's worth it!

Beautiful and amazing pastries + coffees I enjoy every single items here but the croissant was the one that is closed to the one I had in French. I also love the cheese scone and plain scone. The chocolate scone was a little too sweet but good to pair with coffee Coffee was strong and amazing. My friend enjoyed the Mocha and I love my cappuccino One of my most favorite pastries on San Mateo. I hope they have restroom there since the coffee hits hard ‍ Service was fast and friendly Love the outdoor seating and the good vibes here.

Mushroom, Ham and Cheese, Salmon Scone

We visited Bonjour Bakehouse and tried a few of their items: the Ham and Cheese Croissant, Mushroom Toast, and Smoked Salmon Scone. For drinks, we ordered two "I Love You A Lattes" (a latte with white chocolate ganache), a ginger turmeric latte, and their seasonal orange espresso tonic. The total came to about $50. Food-wise, the Mushroom Toast was my favorite. It was savory, well-balanced, and packed with flavor. The orange espresso tonic was another highlight. I appreciated how the sweetness of the tonic complemented the bitterness of the espresso without overpowering it. The baked goods tasted great and were clearly made with honed skills, but I wish they offered the option to heat them up. We were told they aren't able to warm the items because they only have large ovens. The Ham and Cheese Croissant, for example, would have been even more elevated if the cheese had been melty instead of firm in my opinion. As for the drinks, the espresso tonic was refreshing and bold. The "I Love You A Latte" was not overly sweet, which I liked, but I didn't taste much of the espresso. It also had a thick cap of foam, making it feel more like a wet cappuccino than a latte. We sat at one of the outdoor tables, which added to the relaxed, casual vibe. The service was friendly and speedy enough. I would definitely come back. Next time, I will probably take the pastries to go so I can warm them up at home.

Drip coffee and a chocolate chip scone

They're open on Sundays now! Came by at 10a because my kid goes to Jackie Flynn Irish Dance Academy (BEST Irish dance school ever!!!!) and unfortunately for my waistline and blood sugar, Bonjour is now open on Sundays. It's a window with outdoor tables and chairs. There was a table with a bunch of adult and kids books to borrow and read, including French kids books. Lots of families were hanging out in the tree-lined area and passing a beautiful morning. Drip coffee was solid, and the chocolate chip scone was the best scone I've ever had. Craggy crunch-crispy edges, tender interior that wasn't dry at all, nubbins of delicious slightly bitter chocolate. SO good. Given that the majority of the families hanging out were French, I'm going to assume the other pastries are just as solid. Can't wait to come back to try more!

She was definitely a drive from San Jose to San Mateo but well worth it. When you pull up to her house, it may be difficult to find parking as other customers are picking up-- I ended up waiting for 1 person to pull out of her driveway so that I could park. The street is pretty packed with cars. Can I first say what a pleasure she is in person? Claire is super sweet and she's the reason I love supporting small business. We ordered the Mocha Crunch cake. Current prices are $50 for an 8". It's cash only so be prepared. The cake itself is on the light side (not as light as Asian cakes but I wouldn't call it dense either). Unlike some other reviewers that found it dry-- I highly disagree as it was not the most moist cake I've ever tried-- But it wasn't dry either. It was right in between and good enough for us. The Mocha flavor was lightly infused in the frosting and filling. It wasn't super overpowering but it was definitely there. The crunch topping was perfect and so unique. The only other place I've tried a crunch topping is in a latte from Kamurocho in Pleasanton. They have a "Honeycomb Latte" that is amazing. We served half the cake at one gathering and we ended up bringing the leftovers to another gathering. The cake was devoured. We had a party with 10 people and we couldn't finish the cake! The crunch was really good and special, the cake itself doesn't really present the mocha flavor, as a result, after a few bites, the cake became too sweet. We were all hoping the bitterness from the mocha coffee flavor can balance out the crunch but we were disappointed. Interestingly, we then moved onto eating a chocolate cake from Marvel Cake and the chocolate was able to balance out the sweetness and cleansed our pallet a bit. We all felt that a cup of coffee would be perfect with this cake. The cake inside could also be a bit more moist. So all in all, the crunch got the thumbs up but the overall cake not so much.

Super funny that the couple behind me commented that they go here all the time and there's never a line. After about a 40 minute wait, I got to the cashier at around 10:20am. Sounds like both were good as well. The black sesame wasn't sweet, which was to my aunt's liking. Inside, it's very clean and not crowded. I'm also not a huge frosting person, and I believe the cream was buttercream, which was probably the biggest downside for me. It wasn't overly sweet, but the consistency was just too thick for both my husband and me. I even tried leaving it out for over an hour to see if it would soften, but it remained dense. I do wish there were more fruit in the filling. It was mainly cream and a few berries. We sliced the cake on Saturday, and by Monday the exposed part of the cake from where it was cut had become pretty dry. I ended up cutting off the dry outer layer, but thankfully the inside was still moist, so I was able to enjoy the rest of the cake. Ordering through Square was easy. I ordered the 4-inch cake with a marble design, matcha cake, strawberry cream, and strawberries. One thing to note is that if you order the 4-inch cake, there wasn't a section to add custom text. You'll need to email or call them with your order number to let them know what you want written on the cake. Overall, the highlight of the cake was definitely the cake itself. The moisture and strong matcha flavor really stood out and were my favorite parts. If I were to order from this bakery again, I'd probably try a different filling and cream because the buttercream just wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference.
