I really like this sourdough bread spot in San Mateo, they have so many options. I really like their Dutch crunch bread a lot and it was still fresh after 4 days in the fridge. The lady at the cashier is really sweet as well, she gave 2 little kids free cookies that were in front of me!

The sour in sour dough doesn't mean we should get sour puss service! I came in with joy in my heart as a lover of sour dough bread. There were so many to choose from. I asked the lady what's the best seller and she quickly had attitude that all they sell are sour dough bread in different shapes and sizes. Okkkaaaayyy... I let her little attitude slide. I picked up a small round bread that was already sliced up and additionally, I added a cherry Danish bun. She rang me up and I left. I wanted to sink my teeth into that Danish immediately when I got to the car. I opened and was surprised that it was a chocolate chip cookie. No way. I went back in to let her know the error. The way she looked at me and the way she said 'sure' had an attitude of me lying to her about my selection. I instantly felt it and came back and asked her if she thinks im lying to her and that her attitude was not appreciated. I didnt make the mistake, she did. She gave me the cookie and grabed the corrected product for me. I left feeling that I never want to come back again. Bad attitude. Bad customer service. Lack of energy for your own products. Not very nice at all. PS - The sour dough bread was very lovely. I enjoyed the cherry danish and the free chocolate chip cookie too. Very good products. 4 STARS.

This place had incredible sourdough bread! We got a small sourdough baguette with some butter and ate it almost immediately in the car. It's been weeks since we've had it, but I still think about it often... I love the smell, the crunch, the taste... All of it! Can't wait for our next visit.

Store front no baskets for shopping or even a tray.

I love the sourdough here, but my experience with the front desk staff on 11/26 was awful. I accidentally dropped a piece of bread, immediately apologized, and was still planning to buy five or six items (asked her toreplace that one). Instead, the woman at the counter started speaking in Spanish to other customers about how I should pay for what fell on the floor, which was embarrassing and felt very disrespectful. What concerned me most is that the bread that fell on the floor was resold instead of discarded. In any shop, food that hits the floor should be tossed for hygiene and safety reasons. This was an unintentional accident, I apologized, and I was ready to buy more items to help with sales, yet I was treated like I was at fault instead of the victim of rude customer service. In the end, I left and did not buy anything. She spread rumors of me to other customers in Spanish. Not professional and this will impact their store revenue. At the end no sales.

Do you sell Dutch crunch rolls here?

Yes. They’re a deli sandwich roll, not a dinner roll. They come in a six pack poly bag that is a brown ‘n serve (½ baked). You bake it the rest of the way and brown it off. We also sell a fully baked Dutch crunch baguette that you can cut into…

The food looked yummy! Ordered: Egg-tine 7/10 The black sesame seeds were good but then the sunflower seeds adding with the cheese in the center, uhh, it was ok. I took off the center - see pic of actual product with the center in tact. That made it taste better. The croissant was my fave part - crispy yet flaky and oh so soft in the middle. Jamon fromage 10/10 Basically, a ham n cheese croissant. This was delish. Unsure if you've eaten at Croissante; but, their jamon fromage isn't that great compared to this. Theirs has mayo, which completely throws off the taste for me. In any case, this was a success. Latte 3/10 Way too milky and not enough flavor.

Order pastries at the counter, they ring you up at the register and provided utensils for dine in which was a nice touch. Water was self serve, bathrooms are available in the bakery. She was definitely a drive from San Jose to San Mateo but well worth it. When you pull up to her house, it may be difficult to find parking as other customers are picking up-- I ended up waiting for 1 person to pull out of her driveway so that I could park. The street is pretty packed with cars. Can I first say what a pleasure she is in person? Claire is super sweet and she's the reason I love supporting small business. We ordered the Mocha Crunch cake. Current prices are $50 for an 8". It's cash only so be prepared. The cake itself is on the light side (not as light as Asian cakes but I wouldn't call it dense either). Unlike some other reviewers that found it dry-- I highly disagree as it was not the most moist cake I've ever tried-- But it wasn't dry either. It was right in between and good enough for us. The Mocha flavor was lightly infused in the frosting and filling. It wasn't super overpowering but it was definitely there. The crunch topping was perfect and so unique. The only other place I've tried a crunch topping is in a latte from Kamurocho in Pleasanton. They have a "Honeycomb Latte" that is amazing. We served half the cake at one gathering and we ended up bringing the leftovers to another gathering. The cake was devoured. If you haven't tried Claire's Crunch Cake's yet, do yourself a favor and support a small business and meet the sweetest woman.

We had a party with 10 people and we couldn't finish the cake! The crunch was really good and special, the cake itself doesn't really present the mocha flavor, as a result, after a few bites, the cake became too sweet. We were all hoping the bitterness from the mocha coffee flavor can balance out the crunch but we were disappointed. Interestingly, we then moved onto eating a chocolate cake from Marvel Cake and the chocolate was able to balance out the sweetness and cleansed our pallet a bit. We all felt that a cup of coffee would be perfect with this cake. The cake inside could also be a bit more moist. So all in all, the crunch got the thumbs up but the overall cake not so much.

Super funny that the couple behind me commented that they go here all the time and there's never a line. After about a 40 minute wait, I got to the cashier at around 10:20am. Half the pastries like the ube brioche were already out so I opted for just the lattes. I played it safe and got the Tahitian vanilla latte. I will say that it's good quality coffee. Didn't need to add sugar. It didn't come super hot though so as I took it away, I downed it pretty fast! I got my mom and aunt the ice latte version of the black sesame and the brown sugar. Sounds like both were good as well. The black sesame wasn't sweet, which was to my aunt's liking. Inside, it's very clean and not crowded. What helped is that there is a sign that tells the people in line that only 6 people at a time should line up inside. If I have the time, I'd line back up. 4.5/5 stars, but I'll round up.

There was a sign that said only 6 ppl could wait inside to order, but I already counted 8 so figured they weren't enforcing it yet. Unfortunately, right when it was my turn to order, they ran out of beans and had to dial in a new batch. That alone added at least 30-40 minutes between waiting to order, and waiting for the coffee to come out. We got the caramel miso latte and the black sesame latte with an ube brioche. Can't say I loved either latte, nor the brioche. Everything was just decent. I was more impressed with how many ppl came here! I did enjoy seeing the baristas at work though. I'd say if you got here at even 850am, be prepared for a long wait. Can be even longer depending on whether they need to dial in new beans. Definitely not a good place to get a quick coffee before work.

I'm also not a huge frosting person, and I believe the cream was buttercream, which was probably the biggest downside for me. It wasn't overly sweet, but the consistency was just too thick for both my husband and me. I even tried leaving it out for over an hour to see if it would soften, but it remained dense. I do wish there were more fruit in the filling. It was mainly cream and a few berries. We sliced the cake on Saturday, and by Monday the exposed part of the cake from where it was cut had become pretty dry. I ended up cutting off the dry outer layer, but thankfully the inside was still moist, so I was able to enjoy the rest of the cake. Ordering through Square was easy. I ordered the 4-inch cake with a marble design, matcha cake, strawberry cream, and strawberries. One thing to note is that if you order the 4-inch cake, there wasn't a section to add custom text. You'll need to email or call them with your order number to let them know what you want written on the cake. Overall, the highlight of the cake was definitely the cake itself. The moisture and strong matcha flavor really stood out and were my favorite parts. If I were to order from this bakery again, I'd probably try a different filling and cream because the buttercream just wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference.

Maison Alyzée is a French fine pastry bakery café located on downtown Burlingame's main strip. Upon entry, we were welcomed by a brightly lit and very clean venue. Ray and I were immediately drawn to the beautiful marble-topped white counter that encased a gorgeous variety of exquisite treats. The commitment to the elegance of French culture and modern creativity were evident in every luxurious pastry and cake on display. Maison Alyzée is an order-at-the-counter establishment, so we made our purchase with a friendly staff member at the register. Unfortunately, we were told that espresso drinks were no longer available that night since the staff had already begun cleaning the machines. Ok....I never understand businesses that start shutting down things before closing time. This just shows customers that team convenience of closing shop quickly takes precedence over customer experience, essentially omitting availability of items from the menu while they are still open. For this reason, I am docking a star. Luckily, they still had some cold brew available, so I ordered a Lavender Cold Brew with oat milk.
