I really like this sourdough bread spot in San Mateo, they have so many options. I really like their Dutch crunch bread a lot and it was still fresh after 4 days in the fridge. The lady at the cashier is really sweet as well, she gave 2 little kids free cookies that were in front of me!

The sour in sour dough doesn't mean we should get sour puss service! I came in with joy in my heart as a lover of sour dough bread. There were so many to choose from. I asked the lady what's the best seller and she quickly had attitude that all they sell are sour dough bread in different shapes and sizes. Okkkaaaayyy... I let her little attitude slide. I picked up a small round bread that was already sliced up and additionally, I added a cherry Danish bun. She rang me up and I left. I wanted to sink my teeth into that Danish immediately when I got to the car. I opened and was surprised that it was a chocolate chip cookie. No way. I went back in to let her know the error. The way she looked at me and the way she said 'sure' had an attitude of me lying to her about my selection. I instantly felt it and came back and asked her if she thinks im lying to her and that her attitude was not appreciated. I didnt make the mistake, she did. She gave me the cookie and grabed the corrected product for me. I left feeling that I never want to come back again. Bad attitude. Bad customer service. Lack of energy for your own products. Not very nice at all. PS - The sour dough bread was very lovely. I enjoyed the cherry danish and the free chocolate chip cookie too. Very good products. 4 STARS.

This place had incredible sourdough bread! We got a small sourdough baguette with some butter and ate it almost immediately in the car. It's been weeks since we've had it, but I still think about it often... I love the smell, the crunch, the taste... All of it! Can't wait for our next visit.

Store front no baskets for shopping or even a tray.

I love the sourdough here, but my experience with the front desk staff on 11/26 was awful. I accidentally dropped a piece of bread, immediately apologized, and was still planning to buy five or six items (asked her toreplace that one). Instead, the woman at the counter started speaking in Spanish to other customers about how I should pay for what fell on the floor, which was embarrassing and felt very disrespectful. What concerned me most is that the bread that fell on the floor was resold instead of discarded. In any shop, food that hits the floor should be tossed for hygiene and safety reasons. This was an unintentional accident, I apologized, and I was ready to buy more items to help with sales, yet I was treated like I was at fault instead of the victim of rude customer service. In the end, I left and did not buy anything. She spread rumors of me to other customers in Spanish. Not professional and this will impact their store revenue. At the end no sales.

Stopped here during errands as one son loves sourdough - grabbed one and a loaf of Dutch crunch - also ordered an almond croissant and some macarons - the women behind the counter didn't even stop talking during my transaction - maybe it was work related I don't know but usually you stop and acknowledge a customer and say thank you - the place was empty and they weren't rushed - a disappointing interaction for sure - but the breads were great, the croissant was fine (forced into a tart shape, kind of hard, but it was 11am), and the macarons were pretty good. I would return for the bread if convenient - otherwise hit up friendly Piazzas. Service was very disappointing.

The pastry selection is incredibly large so its normal to feel overwhelmed. There is no parking lot, only street parking so expect a little walk. There are a few outdoor tables as well as some inside tables. There are two gender neutral restrooms which both have baby changing stations which I would say is very thoughtful for families. * Lemon scone - very soft and more cakelike in texture. Lemon flavor is strong but not overwhelming. The sugar glaze makes it a bit sticky and counteracts the tart lemon tang. * Cinnamon roll- *only sold on sundays* This was delicious! The cinnamon roll is light with a crisp exterior and delicate notes of cinnamon spread throughout the pastry. The cream cheese frosting is decadent and creamy. Its a good ratio and doesn't feel too heavy to eat by yourself. * Salmon scone- I ordered this because I was craving something savory. It was pretty small so no more than a few bites. The bagel seasoning on top adds texture and grainy salt bits. The salmon is soft and smoky. It was good but compared to the other pastries, it didn't stand out to me. * Caramel latte (hot) - it was lightly sweetened, with balanced coffee flavor and milk. The coffee isn't too acidic and very easy to drink. I like that the drink wasn't too sweet so you could enjoy the pastries together. Bonjour Bakehouse stands out for their wonderful selection of high quality pastries and solid coffee options. If you're looking for overly sweet specialty coffee, I would look elsewhere. They serve authentic coffee using Ikon Coffee beans. Their outdoor patio is great for soaking up some sun with your pup.

Current prices are $50 for an 8". It's cash only so be prepared. The cake itself is on the light side (not as light as Asian cakes but I wouldn't call it dense either). Unlike some other reviewers that found it dry-- I highly disagree as it was not the most moist cake I've ever tried-- But it wasn't dry either. It was right in between and good enough for us. The Mocha flavor was lightly infused in the frosting and filling. It wasn't super overpowering but it was definitely there. The crunch topping was perfect and so unique. I'm also not a huge frosting person, and I believe the cream was buttercream, which was probably the biggest downside for me. I do wish there were more fruit in the filling. It was mainly cream and a few berries. We sliced the cake on Saturday, and by Monday the exposed part of the cake from where it was cut had become pretty dry. I ended up cutting off the dry outer layer, but thankfully the inside was still moist, so I was able to enjoy the rest of the cake. Ordering through Square was easy. I ordered the 4-inch cake with a marble design, matcha cake, strawberry cream, and strawberries. One thing to note is that if you order the 4-inch cake, there wasn't a section to add custom text. You'll need to email or call them with your order number to let them know what you want written on the cake. Overall, the highlight of the cake was definitely the cake itself. The moisture and strong matcha flavor really stood out and were my favorite parts. If I were to order from this bakery again, I'd probably try a different filling and cream because the buttercream just wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference.

Maison Alyzée is an order-at-the-counter establishment, so we made our purchase with a friendly staff member at the register.
