Been to this location a few times and always got the premium Jasmine Milk Tea and it's DELICIOUS. If I can give this place a 4.5 stars I would. The only reason why I'm only docking a star off is because the entrance/doorway is always so crowded and it can be confusing as to who is waiting to order via the kiosk or the ones who are waiting to pick up their order, and going in and out the door. Feels like it's a safety hazard with all of the crowds. You order on the kiosk and enter in your phone number and it will give you a number to pick up. While you wait you can see the number on the screen that your drink is ready. Besides the crowd, the drink itself is VERY good. It is so light and not sweet at all. I've always finished the drink in less than 30 minutes and always want more haha. I love that the caffeine has not kept me up (which is great). I wish they would have MORE locations all around! It's my most favorite tea place ever!
Finally hopped on the Molly Tea 茉莉奶白 train quite literally. I took the Caltrain from SF down to San Mateo and made a beeline for the legendary tea shop upon arrival. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of lactose free options. Basically everything on the menu had some form of dairy, but I eventually settled for the pistachio coconut jasmine fresh brewed tea, which only had dairy in the pistachio foam top so not as bad as drinking an actual milk tea base. I popped a lactaid and hoped for the best. Not sure why Chinese boba shops fail to offer dairy alternative milks, but it's an on going point of frustration I have. Anyways, I digress. The tea was great, pistachio cloud foam top and all! I now get the hype. The tea is so good that you don't need to add any extra toppings. Molly Tea is definitely up there with other globally recognized favorites like Chi Cha San Chen 吃茶三千 and Hey Tea 喜茶.
The big trick is to order ahead via the food delivery apps if you want to avoid the wait. The good news is even if you don't order ahead, the orders go by fairly quickly. Stopped by on a weekday afternoon and the wait was pretty long, but they took orders fairly quickly and all in probably took about 15-20 minutes. The tea is definitely strong and flavorful and they didn't have any boba/bubbles at the time. As far as tea quality goes, this place has some high quality tea, but also lacks the variety of sugary drinks that you might find at other boba shops. Part of their schtick is also the fact that you sip from extremely thin straws, like coffee stirrers. Overall, the staff was nice and they were able to get drinks out quickly. Just expect to wait a bit and also pay a higher price for just tea.

The tea is strong / leaning towards a little bitter side. Very fragrant. You can change to oat milk without extra charge. I went at weekend during lunch time but the wait wasn't that long. Very popular place.

It's good but I still prefer Happy Lemon's jasmine MT. It just wasn't as floral. I also ordered the Snowy Peach Oolong also at 30% sugar. It comes with whip cream and crunchy pecans sprinkled on top. I really like the pecans in the drink. I did not like the coffee stirrers used as straws. Not as enjoyable as a regular straw.

The jasmine was fragrant and delicious. The matcha cheese added a nice creaminess to the drink without overpowering the jasmine. It was a nice combination, and I really enjoyed the drink. I love jasmine and this being my first time, I had to get a jasmine drink. However, I would love to try one of their other tea drinks next time.

I'm always disappointed. You can't taste much. The floral scent is not really coming through, even though the store is fragrant smelling. The camellia matcha just tasted like a matcha drink on the bitter side. The premium jasmine milk tea tasted like very watery milk with faint jasmine flavor. So bland. For the taste it's not worth $7. soo sad :(

I enjoy the customization options; some places have less granular sweetness selections. I ordered ahead online, which went well, fast pickup. The shop itself is whatever, typical boba shop.
Ok I finally understood why this place always has a line. I pre ordered the coconut drink with pistachio foam and sago pearls per Claude's recommendation and I was not disappointed. This isn't your regular boba spot and in fact you can't get regular boba as an add on - only the transparent, bursting kind is available. It was a very hot day and this was the perfect drink to quench my thirst. I didn't know too much about the difference between the other types of teas but I'll be back to try more.
Finallllly got to try Molly Tea after waiting for the lines to die down from the grand opening so I'm not waiting 45 minutes for a boba Short-version: I realllly liked the Camellia Oolong milk tea :) We had sago in it but yeah, it's such a unique (in a good way) treat with tasteful floral notes that makes every sip sing. The sago was beautifully done as well (as someone who overly loves boba haha) - and would 100% recommend this drink (and Molly Tea) to be such a standout than your everyday boba. Really can't wait to come back!

this was also back in April, so the bag design might differ now. everyone and their mama (and papa, and granny, and dog) have heard of molly tea by now. I was just excited we finally got one in California/close enough to try it out. I was overwhelmed with choices. I was told by my milk-tea-only-loving friends have even opted for JUST tea drinks because that's how good it is. I didn't even know what that meant/looked like. I did some digging, and this was one of their most popular drinks - jasmine apple milk tea. NON DAIRY!! and superb. it was so floral, I never had jasmine tea taste like a candle but in a good way. the apple was subtle and the drink all around was so refreshing. mind you, I only had this to go and after the 25 minute drive to Daly City, so I can only imagine if it was fresher. I don't know it I could wait in a super long queue for this spot, but you should know at least it's good! hopefully I get the full experience here next time. read more

First time here. Jasmine apple milk with white pearls was nice. Service was a kiosk machine. server just called out number and I picked up. Standard boba shop. Menu had a lot of options I had not seen before. Worth a second visit. read more
I got the jasmine apple milk tea with white boba and it was a little bitter and the boba isn't the typical boba texture so it threw me off a little bit. But I really like the champaca milk tea a lot. I'm glad the cue is a lot better now but it does get busy read more

Service here was really fast compared to their South Bay location I've been to. Kiosk ordering was efficient too. Love their jasmine whipped cream with pecan bits. The jasmine apple milk with sago was a hit with my 7 year old. Not too sweet. Jasmine tea was fragrant and paired nicely with the jasmine flavored whipped cream topping. Will try their matcha jasmine next time. read more
Very busy store even at night time. I finally stopped by to order after couple months since it opened eve though I pass by it so often. It is just because most of the drink have milk and I don't like tea with milk. The store is small with 2 touch screen ordering kiosk but it was not organized nicely as I can see people just cut the line when ordering even though they came after us. Ordering is simple as the menu is clear. As it was very busy, it took a while for the order to be ready. The pistachio white Champacca coconut was good. This one has no dairy. read more
Molly Tea originates from Shenzhen with many locations worldwide. Even though I usually avoid caffeine in the evenings, I couldn't pass up the chance to try one of their drinks. The shop is small and there was quite a crowd. You can order at the kiosks inside, but I scanned the QR code and ordered from my phone. There is a monitor at the window so you can see when your order number is ready. I went with the premium jasmine matcha at 50% sweetness and loved it. It was floral and the matcha was perfect. I love that they have a kiosk because there are so many drink options and customization options. You can also order online which is helpful. I ordered 3 drinks and they were all great. The stand out drink was the Premium Jasmine Mango Coconut Tea, sugar 50%, with sago add on. It was perfect on a hot day. The cream was delicious on its own and mixed in. The mango was perfectly sweet. I will be getting this again. The Camellia Oolong Milk Tea, less ice, and sugar 70% was enjoyable. The Dancong Oolong Milk Tea, less ice, and sugar 70% was also enjoyable. You can really taste the unique floral notes and flavors of both teas. The staff was very patient. They asked every customer if they'd like the Easter sticker sheet and patiently asked if the customers didn't hear them the first time. read more
There was a long line at this Molly Tea location on a weekday night, but luckily the line moved quickly through self service kiosks and fast drink-making. While there is no space for seating inside the boba shop, there is plenty of outdoor seating in this bustling downtown area. I tried their Gardenia Milk Tea with oat milk and boba recently, and it did not disappoint! The drink was very light and paired well with their chewy boba, and there's not that many boba spots that get the floral, gardenia taste down. read more

Didn't get the hype about Molly Tea at first, but now I do. I cannot get enough of the Jasmine Apple Milk Tea. It's not overly sweet and the flavor is so floral with a hint of apple. I really wish they would open a location in SF!!! Make sure you get the app to order ahead. read more
Tried the Camellia Matcha and it was really good. The matcha cheese added a rich, smooth, buttery nice fluffy texture & creamy flavor. Great menu selection and the shop looks very aesthetically pleasing. The store is small, but the QR code ordering is a smart idea, so the customers can sit outside and wait. The wait time also isn't that long, they have a lot of staff working inside to speed the process. There are also a couple of self-order kiosks inside. For the quality the prices felt fair. Parking lot and street parking are available nearby. Highly recommend if you're craving good matcha. read more

We ordered the Snowy Jasmine and the Camellia Matcha, and both drinks were good and enjoyable. I understand the hype. I'd rate this place a 4.5 stars out of 5. We stumbled upon this place on a Tuesday evening around 6PM and there were lots of people purchasing drinks. We were in town to visit the Thai spot across the corner but wanted someone hot to drink while walking around downtown. Both my friend and I have been taking a hiatus from drink milk tea and Boba drinks, because it's been getting pricier and we've gotten pickier with the quality. Especially after we started going to Chicha San Chen, it's completely ruined other spots for us. This place smelled fragrant the moment we walked in, which sealed the deal for ordering two drinks to try. You can often tell the quality from the fragrance of the tea leaves. We order the top two sellers: - Jasmine milk tea, hot 50% sugar, 4/5 stars - The tea was fragrant and smooth, but my friend and I both agree it could be even more fragrant. That's why it's a 4/5 and not a 5/5, but it was nonetheless a good quality jasmine tea. - Snowy peach oolong, hot, 30% sugar 5/5- The Oolong was a nice strong and smooth flavor, the peach was subtle, but paired with the jasmine whipped cream and the nutty pecan, the flavor was divine. It was the perfect combo when I grabbed a little spoon and got a little scoop of the whipped cream with pecan and a sip of the tea altogether. I generally like strong tea, for both my Oolong, Jasmine and Matcha, but the oolong being a little more subtle allowed the peach flavor to shine. A stronger flavor would probably be too overwhelming in this case. The balance was perfect, the only thing I'd change is increasing the sweetness to 50% next time. The only other thing we'd like to note, the Jasmine milk tea has a oatmilk option, but not the other milk teas which was a little disappointing. So if you can't drink dairy, your options are limited(or bring lactaid!). Overall, we thought this place was good and we were not disappointed. The prices were high, like most other milk tea spots nowadays($6-$8 per cup). We would still rank the quality of this tea to be slightly below Chicha San Chen. If we were in town, we'd definately swing by and order again but we wouldn't go out of our way for a drink here. read more

My new favorite tea spot! Definitely lives up to the hype. I got the pistachio coconut jasmine tea and it was the perfect blend of creamy, coconuty, nutty, and floral. Not too sweet not too bland and it had beautiful presentation as well. The tea tasted high quality without any bitterness. The line was super long but the wait was worth it. I was so excited to try Molly tea because I love jasmine tea. We ordered the premium jasmine green tea, white champaca milk tea, and pistachio jasmine coco. All were delicious!! I love how the jasmine taste is super strong and all their drinks were well balanced. The inside is small, so I recommend ordering ahead if you don't want to wait. read more
Fragrant teas with fancy cups and unique straws. If you're looking for a more unique tea place, this could be it (but not for everyone). In my first couple tries, I didn't like Molly Tea much and thought it was ok. But my work kept ordering from this place, and I got to try more options. Their matcha in particular caught my interest and became my go to. Suggestion: try various drinks here, you might find something that speaks to you. read more
My first Molly Tea! I grew up on drinking traditional Chinese teas so I'm a big fan of the super strong tea flavors. I got the snowy jasmine at 100% sweetness, and it's not sweet at all FYI for those with a sweet tooth. It was very busy and a little bit of a wait but was expected. read more
I've tried quite a few of the Molly Tea drinks at this point. My favorite is the premium jasmine matcha which has a delicious layer of matcha cheese on top and the bottom is a creamy jasmine tea. I got 30% sweet and that was perfectly subtle amount of sweetness for me. Others I have tried include the jasmine milk tea, white champaca milk tea, and gardenia milk tea. Honestly, all of those taste the same to me with only very slight differences. However I recently tried the jasmine apple milk tea and did enjoy that one over those three. Even with 30% sweet it was a good amount. read more

Gardenia drink is coming next week. Staff answered questions about the current menu and upcoming ones. For the week for lunar new year, there is a special drink menu of Camellia Oolong Milk Tea. Staff provided us with a satchel and red envelope that held a 10% off 1 entire order until end of the month. Yeah, I get the Molly Tea hype. If you're looking for a premium Jasmine milk tea, look no further. This location also allows you to conveniently order from a QR code outside so you don't even need to go inside the shop. I've tried their Premium Jasmine Milk Tea, Jasmine Apple Milk Tea, and the White Champaca Oolong Milk Tea (at the recommended sugar and ice levels) and loved them all. The floral note from their jasmine tea is extremely fragrant and tastes high quality. I normally don't like my milk teas too creamy, but their fresh milk paired with the fragrant tea delivers such a luxuriously creamy finish. My #1 would have to be the Jasmine Apple Milk Tea -- it is seasonal but I do hope it becomes permanent! It tastes like a candy apple mixed with premium Jasmine milk tea. read more
I ordered the Jasmine Apple Milk tea, which was highly recommended from previous reviews. I usually don't go for floral drinks but my coworkers were raving about their jasmine drinks. I chose 70% sweet and less ice. I can taste both the jasmine and apple. They balanced each other out without being overpowering. I imagine it would taste good with even less sweetness. I wish the size was bigger though since it came out to $8. I ordered ahead of time online and it was ready in 15 min. Better than waiting outside in line! Heads up, if you order online, you don't have a ticket number on the screen (at least I didn't see it). My husband went in and had to check if my drink was ready. read more
Another new boba shop in downtown San Mateo--Molly replaces the old Bambu. This is the first location on the Peninsula. It was really busy on my visit, Saturday afternoon--almost a deterrent for me. I walked inside and it appears that you can order at the counter, unfortunately that was not the case. I was waiting for a few others who thought the same, only to be told that they weren't taking orders at the counter. Back outside to order by the QR code. I was hesitant--thinking it would be a long wait, but it went faster than I thought--it felt like about 5 minutes. I order the apple jasmine tea and it was very refreshing. It had nice hint of apple, not overpowering and the mix with jasmine was very good. I thought it was a little sweet, but I failed to adjust the sweetness when I ordered. This is a relatively new boba shop, and it's already very busy. The area in front of the store is often packed with people waiting to pick up their drinks, which shows how popular it is. The space has a clean, modern, trendy vibe that feels very "now." Mobile ordering is available, which is convenient. If you order at the in-store kiosk, though, make sure you remember your pickup number -- they call numbers instead of names, and it can get a little confusing when it's crowded. Their tea selection actually reminds me a lot of CHAGEE, one of my favorite spots, with a similar variety of premium-style drinks. Unfortunately, during the week I visited, all of their peach drinks were sold out, which was a bit disappointing. For toppings, the "boba" isn't the usual brown sugar tapioca pearls but more of a white, agar-style jelly. Personally, this was a letdown since I prefer classic chewy tapioca. The staff always seem busy, and there isn't any seating inside, so it's more of a grab-and-go place. There's even another boba shop I love right across the street, so the competition must be pretty intense. It'll be interesting to see how this place stands out. read more
Cute little shop with outdoor seatings. You can order with the cashier or the kiosks. I ordered one of their most popular tea, pisctacho white champaca coconut. It was refreshing and it smelled really good because of the champaca flower, but it was just okay to me. The first few sips were good, but the smell of the champaca took over afterwards. However, my 2 sisters LOVED it. So if you're a tea person that loves floral tea, you def should try if you're in the area. I'm just more of a coffee person lol read more

Pretty good! I came here right at 11am on a Saturday and there was already a small line. You can order using a QR Code they put outside, or on the iPads inside. Defs meant for to go! The tea flavor is light and flavorful! Premium Jasmine Tea (70% sweet): 7/10! You can really taste the Jasmine flavor, and it's nice and light. Snowy Jasmine (70% sweet): 7/10! I prefer it without the whipped cream, which is basically the Premium Jasmine Tea. White Champaca Matcha (70% sweet): 7/10! Honestly tastes similar to the premium Jasmine tea, with a hint of matcha from the matcha foam at the top. Overall, a solid spot for a light tea spot. I recommend going early to beat the line, or ordering on the app ahead of time. read more

Heard great things about Molly Tea, so I was super excited to try. I'm a classic jasmine milk tea girly, but wanted to also try their matcha too so I'm glad they had something with both. Ordered the iced matcha jasmine tea with salted cheese. Less ice and 70% sugar was perfect imo. The jasmine tea really stood out in a good way, and was on the more floral side. Cost was $7.49 which is pretty standard for milk tea these days so I would say it was reasonable. Make sure to mix it before drinking or you'll get all the matcha and cheese just at the top. Would come back and try their other drinks! Service was pretty quick (less than 5 min wait) on a Tuesday evening at 7pm, even with lots of people waiting outside. read more
