Most everything they sold was in some way or another a home improvement item, be it actual building materials or items to add to your decor. Sure, some were priced just right, but I didn't find anything that was such a steal I just had to buy it. Come to find that they do not have a brick-and-mortar location but instead are 100% mobile and available 24 hrs a day. The person I spoke with told me that there is a standard service charge to come to your location (call to get current charge) which I didn't want to pay for such a small job, but he did tell me that I could meet one of the trucks at a current job site at no cost.....giddy up! The job site was not too far and the tech was given my contact information and would be expecting me. I get to the site and the tech was able to knock out the job really quick and for cheap. They can take credit cards payments on site and I was done in less than 10 minutes. I will keep their number in my contact list.

He gave me an up-front estimate, which seemed fair. He asked for a 50% deposit, which (based on past reviews) also seemed fair. The first workday, he arrived then left because of weather: it was a bit misty but not actively raining. Each day, he arrived at around 11 am. I told him up front that our HOA is very strict and that the lights must be professionally installed. Halfway through, there were cords dangling making it appear unsightly. I told him again that we want all cords hidden. At the end of it all, there were still cords dangling in several places, easily visible a casual observer. Additionally, while Govee recommends their lights be 2 to 4 inches from the wall, he installed them at least 10 inches from the wall, making for a muted and dimmed light show. In the end, we were very disappointed and had to hire a second contractor to uninstall his work and then reinstall the lights correctly. If you need Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights installed, look elsewhere. I cannot speak to any other work he John does.
