I must say. It's been over a decade since I've been to this location. And I am IMPRESSED. Greeted immediately. Recently got back into MTG. Came here looking to see if they had anything. Was bombarded with MTG cards for dayssssss. The gentleman working was very polite even gave me some knowledge on the play/draft booster packs. Even invited me to come play on Friday. Extremely nice comic shop. I say comic shop in a general sense. It had collectibles of all sorts. Comics encompass all sorts of items now. The comic book prices and standard. There's a wide selection of other various items or different sizes and likes. read more

I like this store and let me tell you why. First, it's neatly and strategically organized. I appreciate when some is smart with their space. Secondly, MTG: double masters 2022 we're running hot on Amazon and everywhere else close to +$75 on the collectors and nearing +$100 on the draft boosters. He made a choice to go well below the going rate. He made a decent profit; I'm happy. I love my local gaming store. But because of this, I'll drive the 3 hours and purchase my boxes from him. Love this place wonderful humor and all around good people to be around always a good place to get a laugh and some good stories always something happening and love that its family friendly all the regulars respect the owner a great deal and keep the language pg so it's nice for family If he doesn't have it he will get it for you and if you can't find it he always is there to help we are lucky to have a store like this in the community read more

Upon entering I was greeted by an older employee who seemed friendly and welcoming. Soon after I felt the gaze of every free employee on the back of my neck, and even in this small shop I was followed and watched. I don't know about you, but I don't like that at all. After the only other customer inside left, they immediately started making fun of him for asking basic questions. It was the typical "snotty nerd" attitude, and it made me angry and uncomfortable. Poor attitudes aside, their selection is very limited, especially with back issues and collectibles. For all of their self-importance, they don't have much to back it up. read more

I didn't think you could pack so much gaming and comic awesomeness into such a small package, but Book Stan pulls it off superbly. Impossible to go inside and walk out without your wallet on fire and your bank account empty. Not that they're pricey, but your sure to find more things to buy than you originally walked in for... The staff is great, and will go out of their way to help you find whatever it is your heart desires. Best game/comic store in town. read more

After spending stupid amounts of money on paint and models from this store, I popped in to buy a single jar of paint. They don't do charges under 5$. Paint came to 4$ and change. Didn't buy the paint. Policy saved them credit card fees - cost them a customer. Unfortunate. read more

While not as good or as large as Dragon's Lair in Austin, this place has been a landmark for nerds and geeks in the military community of Killeen for ages. While small, it has a good amount of things I need and don't need (like more dice). They specialize more in comic books than roleplaying games, but they have some of everything. However, don't expect to game in this store because they don't have the room for it. The owner is pretty protective of the store as well and while friendly you will be watched as you browse. I can only suspect that the store has been the victim of many a shoplifter and they can't really afford a fancy camera system to monitor the whole store. read more

Decent variety of new and old comics. Problem is, even comics less than a year old are sold for more than the cover price. I know some back issues are hard to find, but seriously... Apart from that, the owner follows you around the store, eyeing you like a hawk. The store is a bit cramped on the comic book side, but there are mirrors in the corner if you're that paranoid. Very military friendly store the owner has boxes in the back and will hold your comics when they arrive or you can put a credit card on file so when you get back from deployment your comics are already paid for as far as I know the other comic book shops do not offer this. I enjoy going in and getting my comics weekly. Yes the first few times I went in I felt like I was being watched but I also have PTSD so I know why people are like this and diffently not a deal breaker for me. I will always get my comic books from stan until I move on from texas. read more

The owner and his employees were extremely rude. I've been trying to find a place to play magic the gathering and was talked down to by the owner several times. I'm not the most knowledgeable player so there is a great deal of things I don't know. Instead of being cool and helping me out, the owner very condescending. The owner also eats really bad smelling food all the time and the shop smells bad. Don't waste your time or money on this place. I'll be going some where else. read more
