My best friend and I went on a quest to find bookstores we have not visited before. I saw this one…read moreon someone's instagram stories and was intrigued. First, they have a lot of books. When I first walked in I wasn't even sure where to begin but it was great to be able to browse and see their extensive collection. Staff is very friendly and let us know that they curate their books from donations. If you donate your books to them, they create an account where you can have a credit on file to use. As someone, that occasionally does donate books, this is fantastic news! Additionally, all of their books unless otherwise stated are half off the cover value which is incredible and affordable! They definitely had something for everyone there. I look forward to visiting them again, hopefully with some books to give them!

The Book Rack in downtown Ocoee is not only a great place to shop for used books; it's also a great…read moreplace to bring in any of your own used books for credit. You're not only decluttering your house, but you're helping out a small local business. With every book you bring in, you receive credit toward future purchases. I already have more credit than I'll probably ever use, but I'm happy that my previously read books are going to a good home. The store has a pretty decent used book selection with floor-to-ceiling shelving (and also some graphic novels, CDs, and DVDs). It's always hit-or-miss, so each time I go; I never know what I'll find. There's also a little sitting area with coffee or hot cocoa, if you so desire. How much are the used books? They're half off the cover price. How does the credit work? You get an additional half off the half-off price. So if a book has a cover price of $8, the store sells the book for $4. I can use my credit balance for an additional $2 off (half of the $4), leaving the book at a total of $2. There are also some $1 books on a rack outside the store. Everyone working there is always super friendly and helpful.

There are also "blind date with a book" options if you're feeling indecisive and want someone to choose for you. 5 Stars for an independent local bookstore that delivers on great selections, staff recs, banned…read morebooks, and miscellaneous goodies. I was excited to stumble upon Writer's Block, a bookstore I've heard about for years, while visiting the Winter Garden Farmer's Market. The windows beckoned me in and I immediately saw a bestseller that had been recommended to me recently, so I was stoked to spend my money locally. I also perused their stickers, pens, and other fun local goodies while wandering. There's a robust kids section in the back, so be sure to keep walking! I appreciated the many hand-written staff recommendations and teasers for books on the shelf, and also the entire section on banned books that described the reason for the banning. Love a store taking a stance for banned books! Overall, I plan to continue supporting independent bookstores instead of the massive, bloated, unethical, late-stage capitalist hellscape that is Amazon. Hope others are tempted to walk in and enjoy the rare little bookshop the way I was when walking around downtown Winter Garden!

The staff was really nice. We purchased some cute book related art that could easily be framed; they will be nice decoration for a home library or classroom. Since they were done by a local artist, I think the price was excellent for the quality of the product. It is on the smaller side, so it did get a little crowded.

If you enjoy the thrill of the hunt, you might really enjoy it here. Personally, I prefer more structure and hardcover selections, so it wasn't quite my style. I didn't find anything to take home, and there wasn't any staff interaction during my visit. Still, it's one of the few bookshops in the area, and I'm glad it's there for folks who love browsing for a surprise find.
