I'm a barnes and noble girlie, however my son loves coming to books a million. The staff are polite and helpful. There are a ton of other items such as toys, games, mugs, journals, merch, etc. There is limited seating, a couple of benches towards the back. There is a cute little frozen yogurt spot connected to the book store, which is nice My son can spend hours in these book stores. He loves to read and see all the comics and toys that they have to offer. It isn't cheap here, so keep that in mind, I compared the price of a book that I've been looking to get, it was about 24 dollars here and only 13 dollars on Amazon. But, I suppose if you're not willing to wait for something to be shipped and you rather have it in hand immediately, this is the way to go! read more

Horrible Service. I understand that Black Friday is a busy day, but they were not understanding at all. They had a flyer left out that said 50% of books on top of their manga section, but none of them were on sale. My aunt bought them anyway as a gift, but I took her receipt and returned them. $87 for 6 books on Black Friday. Later I would learn that there was no discount in store, and they had no disclaimer at all. Buy your books on Amazon, this company sucks.Not the first time I had to put up with this, but it will be the last. Go to hell Books A Million. read more

Husband and I stopped here just before our flight back home, we were recommended to go here by a family member who lives in this area and this place was absolutely wonderful! It really exceeded our expectations, unfortunately I did not look at the entire store because we didn't have too much time, but the manga section is what I really focused on and I loved it. We went in with the intention of just buying a couple books but we actually left with almost $300 worth of manga haha The staff here greeted us as soon as we walked in, The manga is to the far right of the store towards the back and that's where we made a beeline to. They also have a great Harry Potter selection, I'm really regretting not buying more of it but I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan. But any Harry Potter fans out there will not be disappointed that's for sure. The prices here are reasonable, honestly I think everything is cheaper here than it is in California, the isles were clean, it was nice and quiet and had a really nice atmosphere. On the way to the register we ended up getting suckered by all the small cute knickknacks, so we got our kids some octopus plushy's and while paying the employee behind the counter had asked if we wanted to sign up for a membership because then it would make things cheaper if you wanted to purchase online since they do ship so we ended up signing up. Such a fun nostalgic thing too, they actually give you those little cards that go on keychains for when you go in person so they can scan it. I have not received one of those in years, so it definitely made me chuckle. Overall definitely a memorable experience, and if ever we do come back out to visit the family in this area I would definitely want to come back here again! read more

Definitely shop here if you are looking to be treated rudely and disrespectfully. This place was not crowded at all, and all I was buying was a Christmas card. There were three people waiting in line but they were so far away from the cash registers that I did not even see that they were in line, so I just walked up to the registers from the other end, having never been here before. So three times the staff yelled at me "the lines over there, the lines over there!!!" I just had surgery, and the medicine I'm on messes with my head a little bit. It would've been nice if someone would've walked out and showed me where this so-called line was. Honestly, the people in line looked like they were shopping, looking at displays. The staff here is very rude and not understanding at all. I wouldn't recommend going to this place, no matter how many books they have. I moved to Charlotte from New England two years ago, and if I wanted this kind of treatment I would've moved to New York City, which was just voted the rudest city in America. My treatment today was especially jarring considering the fact that southern hospitality is a real thing down here, and I have noticed it, except of course for this place. read more

I needed a gift receipt. I was promised one. Then the untrained associate could not figure out how to do it. She called one person up, they had no clue. Then called the manager up and he said there was nothing he could do. I was SOL and asked me to leave the store. Do not tell me you can do something and then don't and then make it out as my fault. I will NEVER purchase anything ever again from this store. Rude manager, untrained employees and overpriced items. I know now why people buy things online. This place is okay if you are browsing around or trying to kill time while family is shopping their hearts out at the other stores of Concord Mills. I do notice that some of the book prices are a little on the marked-up side but if you are in a bind for a book, you can go here to get one. I usually get my books online (the only drawback is the wait time for the shipping), but it's always nice to go into an actual book store and browse. There used to be a coffee place attached to the Books-A-Million, but now it has been changed to Yogurt Mountain. One of those new yogurt places that you serve yourself and put on your own toppings - haven't tried this location yet, but you can't miss it with it's bright lime green walls and colorful decorations. read more

What a disaster. I can't fathom working in a customer service industry and walking by customers not saying hi. I get it, you have projects and tasks to complete, but with any retail store no matter the vertical, the customers are the number one priority. (That was my first visit) My second visit was for the Ray Lewis book signing. And that too was a disaster. You could tell they didn't have a solid plan, as they were changing things on the fly. They had roughly 150 in the store snakes in between there rows of book shelves. This made it VERY inconvenient for customers coming in not for the signing to shop. Id also be concerned about their disability compliance. I saw a gentleman in a wheel chair struggle as he couldn't turn around a few fixtures in the back by the magazines. Clearly not complaint. Anyways, they had one employee triage the line telling us how to have the book opened for Ray to sign it. Then. Another employee came around about 20 mins later telling us to do it differently! Holy cow. Finally, you had to "collect a ticket" to enter the line. Hilarious! No one ever asked or even took our tickets. And I witnessed many many people walk on through the yogurt entrance and just slip in line with their friends. I hope this management team really sits down and takes a look at this signing. While it was awesome meeting my favorite player, it was a huge miss on their part for achieving a high level in customer service. read more

For a book lover this store is heaven! It's a huge location with a well planned layout of any book you could possibly need or want. In the middle of the store is a customer service desk that is more than happy to help see if a book is in stock or show you where in the store to look. As a frequent visitor I normally know where I'm going but the times I have used the desk have been pleasant. Amazon is great BUT there's just something about looking at a physical book before buying or when trying to decide what to get for yourself or a gift. This quiet and relaxed store right near the food court and a main entrance to the mall is a great stop for all ages!! read more

On a trip up to Salisbury I was in need of Guy Fieri cookbooks. Coming from South Charlotte, I figured there would be a place around Concord Mills. I called ahead and a very nice man answered and found out they had a few copies on hand. I stopped off and after asking for some assistance found them and checked out with another very friendly woman. If you have something specific in mind do not hesitate to call. 2 stars because a gentleman helped me find a bookmark and he was very nice. The cashier did not offer me ANYTHING (the rewards card and some type of other offer) she offered the two customers checking out before me. After bagging my items she held the bag up and dropped it prissy like in my hand. She did not say thank you or have a nice day, instead she looked at me side ways. We asked that this transaction be canceled we were told it was too late that it was already in the system and we could call a toll free number. We called the number and was told to call back in two weeks when they updated their system (it's a computer- it should not take two weeks!)This is a deceptive practice and I will not be shopping there again! read more

A nice selection of books and magazines of all genres. BAM is located in the Concord Mills shopping mall and is more akin to a book "store" than a place to come and relax. That's OK. That's the model of BAM. The prices are what you'd expect. The only great deals are on the items they're trying to get rid of, but isn't that what most places do? It's a book store. Books-a-Million isn't my favorite bookstore, much prefer Barnes &Noble. This location is inside the mall, so it's not the biggest bookstore but they still manage to pack with a huge selection of books. You'll be surprised with the vast array of their inventory. Their kid section is great too. My kids go to books stores to scan for books they like and play while I shop. B&N is a favorite for them but they like this location a lot too. The biggest downside is that the place isn't very inviting. Seating through the store is limited. You will often see people sitting against shelves on the floor. Also, what's a positive is also a negative. Because of the large inventory, it can appear cluttered, which isn't a turnoff for me ... I'd rather they have he book I want. read more

This place is too cookie cutter for me, isles of low brow literature and stupid categories like Teen and Western. Not to mention there was a display in the front for Bill O' Reilly's new book, blah! I can't understand why people waste their time reading talentless literature like this. So this place is pretty big and in a popular mall, so I assumed when going in and heading straight to their art section I would get atleast a fairly good section. But unfortunately art has 2 book cases- one of which is entirely kid how to draw dragons and that type of stuff, coloring books etc. So really you get one book shelf for art. I went in looking for some books on art history. I found literally 5. On the ENTIRE art history section. There were no books on De Kooning or other well known artists except for Picasso and one Van Gogh. I was really dissapointed not because I couldn't find my book because whatever that happens... But because the section was so awful. Not even the basics. Meanwhile the manga section was like 4 rows, nothing against manga, and there was literally a section dedicated to 50 shades of grey. The people working the store were nice which is why this isn't 2 stars, but the company needs to really know what books are just basics. I'd rather go drive another 20 minutes and go to Barnes and noble is the all around lesson here. read more

I stop it maybe 3 times a year to browse the bargain books, every time I go in it's always high pressure sales tactics by the clerk to get you to join their club. I'm buying a $10 book at most three times a year, I don't need it! They also don't take no for an answer well, they will get rude and hold up everyone else while you have to repeatedly say no.
