My first visit here in quite a while. I had attended one of their huge Cons years ago. Since I grew up in the area and collected comics for over 50 years, I was curious to see their new (to me) location. After a dizzying trip through traffic and construction I finally made it. It is certainly impressive being greeted by Spider-man battling Doc Octopus overhead. Tons and tons of comics, magazines, books, games, etc. So much to see hard to take it all in. The only thing I missed were the displays of beloved titles from the 1940s to 1960s. So I was told of a huge comic show in Boston and large stocks were sent up there. A very impressive store. Everyone was very helpful and answered questions that I had. I even brought a small box of my personal comics for them to look over. They liked the books and the condition and we agreed on a price for them. Very nice people and very pleasant atmosphere. read more

I love this place and I mean love this place. They have so many exciting comics, books, gifts and much more. I am an avid comic book collector and focus on Harley Quinn only for the most part and they always have many new and vintage titles. In fact, I found my Batgirl #12 in amazing condition and the owner worked out a plan for me to make sure that I was able to get it. I also contacted them on a deal I found on eBay for a very special book and the owner was willing to give me advice and confirm if the book was real and it was. The variety of new and vintage books is plentiful and they do have the super duper books in the back of the shop and they have some good ones. The parking here can be a bit scarce as there are food spots, coffee and other shops, but I always do find parking and make it work. I cannot recommend this spot enough if you are a Comic Book lover plus when you are done there a few spots to eat around there and you can eat and read your new comics. read more

Picked up a comic to add to the home collection today. This business has been in Charlotte for decades. They have always sold amazing comics & other fun comic collectibles & movie collectibles. They have great owners & supported a local fundraiser I organized years ago with a non-profit focused on children's literacy. I love businesses that give back to their community. This is one of them. They even have a bench in here if you ever want to come in and sit down to read one of their hidden treasures. This place is fun every time I come. This is a great little comic book store in an old part of town, close to downtown. Don't be fooled from the interior, they have a good selection of golden age comics, probably around 30 short boxes. Staff was friendly during my visit, even as I came around closing time, they weren't rushing me out the door as I perused nearly all 30 boxes. They also seemed very knowledgeable as well. I called the next day asking a question about a certain item I saw and a different employee answered then switched me to the owner or manager, not sure which, but they weren't as friendly. They indicated they didn't have time to look and would get back to me the following week. They never did though. It literally would have taken less than 2 minutes to look and return back to the phone to answer my question. Even though I found and purchased a couple comics from their better than average selection of golden age ones, the service could have been better during the whole experience. read more

I am not as into Comic Books or Graphic Novels as I want to be but this place could feed an addiction. I came here on Free Comic Book Day and this is usually a fiasco at Comic Book stores. You have droves of nerds and geeks (of which I am one) in one place and we show out that we leave our mom's basements often because we cannot queue. Amazingly, the staff at Heroes was able to create and enforce an orderly queue that moved quickly and efficiently. Free Comic Book Day features (drum roll) free comic books, which there were plenty. I thought it was a clean, well-lit, well-staffed store. On free comic book day, they were efficient, friendly, the store stayed clean, people stayed polite. Thier prices are not out of line with other places you can buy comic books and they had really cool memorabilia and collectibles on display throughout the store. They also host the best and one of the largest comic book conventions - which I hope to check out some day. read more

And since I know little about comics and such, I brought my daughter who found specific comics she wanted. Nice offering of statuettes and figurines. The Spidey hanging from the wall was very cool. Parking in the lot next to it is easy and they have a bike rack out front. This is probably one of the nicest comic book shops I've ever been in. Heroes Aren't Hard to Find has been my LCBS for as long as I can recall. The staff has always been one of the best parts of going. There have even been times where that was the only reason for going. There have been other shops that have popped up over the years, but hands down, there is not a better experience at any of them. There are some shops where you just don't get a friendly welcome or they just treat you like a regular customer. Not at Heroes. At Heroes, you feel like a priority. They always go above and beyond to make sure you are getting items or information you yearn for. I have a monthly pull list with them and I go at least 1-2 times a month. Sometimes more. They usually have store events and signings going on throughout the year so it's a must to check out their social media pages. They also run one of the largest independent comic book conventions in the US every year. I can't recommend this shop enough. If comic books are your thing, this is where you need to go. Heroes is the best comic store my hubby and I have ever visited. They have a huge stock of comics, the decor is super cool, and there are no staff nicer than at Heroes. Another thing going for Heroes is their amazing staff. Phil usually works Saturday mornings, and we love chatting with him - he's just the nicest guy. If you come in the evenings, you'll often meet Brent, Eli, or Snap (Matt). Everyone is just so nice and friendly here. Both regulars and new customers are welcome, so don't be afraid to strike up (or join) a conversation. There are comfortable benches along the windows, and they always play awesome music. It's a small space, but well organized. It seemed to be understaffed and also, if you aren't a regular then it might take you a while to get any information. Heroes is a comic person's heaven. I'm not into comics, but I learned about this strange world very quickly when my hero, Alice Cooper, launched three comic books in the mid-90s to coincide with his album "The Last Temptation." I was in school at Appalachian State U at the time - no one in Boone had Alice's comic books when they each came out. I called Heroes in Charlotte, told them what I wanted and where I was coming from, and they held it for me while I drove the two hours down from Boone. (Yes, I am an insane Alice Cooper fan.) One of those three comic books is now inscribed to me and autographed by Alice, and is one of my most treasured possessions. A big thank you to Heroes for putting up with someone who was only into the strange world of comics for three issues. read more

From about age 8 to 24, I voraciously bought and read comics weekly. 14 years later, I decided to buy a comic book collection for a great deal on eBay to see what was going on with some of my favorite characters. Well...that did it. I was hooked again. I then wanted to see what was going on with other favorite characters, so I bought up sets of their comics on eBay as well. Naturally, once I got to the end of the set I bought, I had to find out what happens next. Thus, I entered the world of Heroes Aren't Hard to Find. I hadn't stepped foot in a comic book store in over a decade, and now I realized why, as the store sucked me in. Before I knew it, I had a stack of comics in my hand, was handing over my credit card, and was signing up for them to pull and save new comics for me when they come in. The good thing is that now that I do that, I get a 10% discount off new comics. So, yes, I'm going to stick with it because I love to visit my read about my favorite characters and what's going on in their lives. The store is very clean and organized. The staff at Heroes has been fantastic, too. I used to see Phil or Rusty all the time and now I most often see Shawn, who is incredibly helpful. The staff always recognize me and remembers my name, which is amazing to me considering how many people probably go in there. Best comic store in Charlotte bar none. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They are real comic fans as they have a variety of interests. This is important so if you want information about a comic by an independent company or a big publisher, they can help you out. I go once or twice per month to pick up my pull and they give good recommendations based on your interest. The staff are also very approachable. Some times us nerds can be judgey and cliquey. However, all of their staff are nice and helpful. They also have some cool statues of Spider-Man and doctor octopus. They also have toys, figures and pops figures. My wife, who is not a comic fan does not feel like as much of an outsider because the staff acknowledge her as she finds a chair to hang out in as I peruse. Want a bunch of filler, non-key, books to complete a run, they have the stock....want ANY major or minor key comic....they got it probably, and its the most expensive one you have come across(unless you have been to mile high in Denver!). Totally understand the need to "keep the lights on" for such a small store, but ungraded raw books for slabbed+ prices...nah! Great store but what collector will WANT to spend $400 on a Raw mid-low grade ASM 100?! If it was $250...probably woulda bought it....just to give anyone an idea of what kinda shop this is. 2 stars because it was so organized and clean. read more

When I go out of town for work, I always hit the LCS (Local Comicbook Shop) to pick up my weekly books. Some stand out more than others. This was one that that makes it easy to give two thumbs up. Phil was there working when I came in. He acknowledged every person that came in, which I thought was amazing. He was really knowledgeable not only about comics but he knew everyone by name and with one client even knew what one would like based on their past buying habits. I wish all LCS's could take a lesson from Phil. I'll wait stopping in again on Sunday to dig through back issues. I will say for all parents looking for comics for their kids, this is your location. What can you say? This is a seriously huge, seriously gorgeous, seriously well staffed comic book store. I hate doing the whole "compared to big cities" thing to stuff in ze CLT but seriously... any sized metropolis would be lucky to call Heroes its own. On top of running this awesome place, the dudes organize the yearly ComicCon, which, like Heroes, is huge, awesome, and popular. And relatively inexpensive. Who knew that Charlotte would have some of the biggest and well-stocked comic book stores, I've ever seen? Heroes is well-located, with a floor layout that makes sense. Open, inviting, bright and cheery, with a friendly staff that is neither too geeky or cool. Massive amounts of comics, a smaller collection of figures; you can peruse until your heart's content. I will give them a pass though as it's Monday and I've seen their weekend show stock and it's excellent. More than likely they just did not unpack. They probably like it better when I'm zipping through for that quick present for someone. Heroes Aren't Hard to Find is easily the best comic shop in the Gaston County/Meck area. They have a large selection of backstock, and they order plenty of new releases so that you don't have to be first in line on Wednesday to get a book you wanted (if you haven't started a pull list with them). I've read reviews where people complain about their prices, but consider this: in Heroes, you can physically hold and see the book and it's condition before you purchase. You don't have to worry about shipping costs. You don't have to wonder if the seller is poorly packaging the book for the shipping process. And you don't have to worry about your overworked mail carrier carelessly tossing your books around (or folding them to fit into the mailbox). So maybe you do pay an extra dollar for a book, but I personally think that's worth the peace of mind. Not to mention, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, even during this awful pandemic. There are 3 shops closer to me where I could get comics, but I choose to drive 30 minutes (sometimes a little less depending on that Charlotte traffic) because Heroes is just top notch. read more

I'm new to the area. Where I'm from the loose bins are for rummaging through. If that's your bougey back stock put signs on them. Don't scold someone like a child. Or greet them before they assume otherwise. Gross. Not one person acknowledge my presence until they saw me "digging" in the wrong place. And they weren't busy. If you're a fan of this place I'm sorry. There are stores in other cities that aren't uptight and have a sense of community. This store is beautiful to look at but seemed more geared to true enthusiasts and adult readers than someone hoping to get started. The two employees weren't much help, and were a little cold. I asked for assistance, and felt like I was disturbing them. My son was looking for Doctor Who merchandise and they were not much help. Just getting back into reading comics again and it has been an easy transition with this store in town. It's a very polished up comic book shop and I love it! Have yet to go into the store and not gotten into a good discussion about anything from NPR, the Walking Dead to Edward Abbey. So, yah I've never been ignored here. To boot they always are really cool with my niece's rolling into their store. Most comic books stores cringe at the idea of 4 yr olds coming in looking through the comics.
