Totally worth visiting if you're a comic geek or book nerd. It's definitely not the same as Barnes and Noble, but they seem to have a different target market. Theres selections within each genre. Also, they create great "bargain" products of common topics, area of studies or classics redesigned. If I have to pick up a gift, this is one of my go to places for the options and price point! read more

Took the kids here to browse around and kill some time in a Saturday afternoon. PROS: - staff was friendly -nice and quiet -good selection of activity books, toys, and games that kept the kids entertained for about an hour and a half -i was really happy to see the amount of diverse children's books available. They weren't categorized in a separate section as you'll see in other bookstores, as if these çharacters of color are 'different', belonging in a 'special' section, but were mixed right in with all the other books, as they should be. My kids were so excited to see books with characters that represent them on the shelves. -i liked the selection of reduced price items thought the store CONS -couldn't find the book I was looking for. I'd definitely come back here, at I enjoyed the atmosphere. read more

Books-A-Million is a chain bookstore that sells books, magazine, collectible toys and other small gifts in-person. Online, they offer e-books and textbooks. This store is located in a great shopping center with a Target and tons of other places to have a nice shopping day. For the busy shopping center it lives in, this store is usually pretty quiet and tidy. If I'm in this Books-A-Million, I'm not looking for something specific. I'm an avid reader, and this BAM is more of a place I think of when I just want to wander and find something unexpected. Make no mistake, this isn't a dusty bargain garage for odd books. They carry new fiction and everything in-between. If I'm shopping here, its mostly to leave with a few treasures I've picked up in the extensive sale sections. I've left with everything from travel books, to biographies or feminist literature. Some have even ended up as my favorite books...and it never hurts to feel like you found a real bargain, especially on a popular-ish hardcover. If you're looking for something specific, I'd recommend ordering it online directly to the store. Because their prices are a bit less expensive than the average, I can't imagine that super hot things stay here long. Shipping directly to the store would ensure its there. You can also always find awesome coffee table books here at fair prices, which is a go-to gift for me for my reader friends. Overall, a nice chain bookstore! read more

It's admittedly been a long time since I've ventured into a book store. Like many of us, I buy my books online or use an app to read on my phone. Nonetheless, this Books-A-Million is a nice treat and is located in a great shopping center where you'll find a Kohl's, Target, Marshall's, Ulta, and more. The book selection here is decent but certainly not comprehensive. The store has a mix of best sellers and classics but other items will likely only be available online. I was looking for two books neither of which they had, but were willing to order it and ship it to my home. The store does have a large selection of gift items, journals, etc. so can surely find nice Knick knacks for yourself or others as well. I didn't find the staff to be particularly helpful or friendly but the checkout process was easy enough and the immediate satisfaction and convenience of leaving with a book in hand is something you just can't get from Amazon. I paid about $5 extra for that convenience though. Overall, good experience for a chain bookstore. read more

Three stars for their awesome selection of geeky goodness! I get my comics elsewhere, but their selection is rather large for a chain book store. But what really gets me excited are all the DC Comic and Star Wars toys, collectibles and shirts! I found Harley Quinn everything there--needless to say I was excited. They have other nerdery as well, so take your time and look through it all. What I didn't like was that abnormally large bible section. Did I miss something? Is this place like the bookstore equivalent of Chick-fil-a? It's really not my jam... And would expect something like that at a religious store, but not a chain. read more

Great place to find not only books but unusual gift items. I bought all my kids required school reading here. If they don't have it; they will order it I. For you. Highe periodical section. Popular new releases and all genres of prose you can imagine. Coffee table books, children's choices, recipe and hobby interests. Also ton of cute and unusual sundry items. Pens, bookmarks and book loght, jewelry, journals, games, etc... Fabulous place to fill those Christmas stockings. They do have a loyalty club. Check it out!!!! read more

I went to Books-A-Million, for the 2nd time, on 11-13-16, my second trip there in a week. The staff are very helpful in finding the books I requested. The place is clean and set up in a logical fashion. It's a great store for browsing as they offer a huge selection. The prices are reasonable. The service here is what makes this place so wonderful. These staffers are really helpful. I really like this store and recommend it to anyone who loves books. If you can't find what you want here, ask anyone who works here and they will be happy to assist you. read more

I needed some retail therapy and hit Westgate. Target was great for detergent and dog treats. Then i decided to give this place a second chance. Hooters magazine caught my eye as my sis in law is a Hooters employee. I thought maybe it would be about beer and leisure, but it was mostly pictures of big chested orange skinned ladies hula hooping half naked. Not that that's bad, but that is readily available online for free. Found a good magazine(Dwell), but had trouble locating anything else. What happened to shit just being organized by fiction and non, alphabetically? Looking for particular audiobooks and other non fiction was a chore, as they organize by "subject". The subjects are sex, history and politics. Good luck trying to figure out how any of thousands of topics or authors fit into those three categories. They have an info desk, but i'm not about to waste my time asking a high school age clerk for help. Time is too precious. But at least i didn't have to drive out to Crocker. read more

I enjoyed this bookstore for several reasons: 1. very large. 2. quiet. 3. helpful, friendly staff. 4. "interesting" selection. I won't say "good," because I actually don't know if this is true and it seems hard to figure out. Based on the way the store is laid out (as others have said, by weird subject areas), it seems pretty difficult to find an individual title. So I'm not really sure if I would enjoy this store if I were on the lookout for a specific book. In terms of wandering around, though, it was fine. [Side note: I TOTALLY got the same Christian vibe that Jason was getting. There was soooo much devoted to Christianity. It practically took up the whole middle section.] 5. Somewhat affordable - not drastically cheaper than B&N, but they have a lot of stuff on sale and their membership allows you to get 10% off each time you visit plus more, with emailed coupons. 6. This probably doesn't matter to many, but a large portion of the store seemed like an "odds-and-ends"/toy store for kids There are puzzles, games, stuffed animals, and other weird stuff that somehow seems enticing. It seems like an easy way to take a cranky kid to a place where she can get something fun and I can get a book. Win-win. Plus it would be a good place to shop for a holiday if you've got kids in your family you never know how to shop for. 7. they have a coffee shop attached. Don't ask me how it is ... I only get 1 cup a day right now and I'm not taking any chances on an unknown. read more

My ideal bookstore would be the kind where I feel utterly, gloriously lost - with endless shelves of books reaching back as far as the eye can see, and when I trail my fingers along the wooden shelves of the Science Fiction/Fantasy section, I find so many authors that Lordy, I don't know WHAT to pick. I want total brainfreeze when I walk into a bookstore - presented with so many choices that it takes me an hour to wiggle my way to a purchase, regretfully leaving a pile of books I want to read behind, muscling my way to the counter only thanks to the strength of a thoroughly-sugared cup of coffee and a cookie. Books A Million is not that store, sadly. But it ain't bad, either. It is very, very large. That's in its favor. Sadly, the selection despite all the books isn't quite as good as I'd like it to be - perhaps it's a problem common to all new stores, but the books seem to focus on the new, ignoring the classics. If it's not been published in the past year and it's not an absolute slam-dunk classics, your chances of stumbling across OMG, I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THAT BOOK FOREVER are slim. The staff is not the most educated in bookery, not yet - they've seemed perplexed by my request every time I've asked them for a book, never having heard of a single one of my choices - but they have cheerfully and efficiently looked them up, and offered to order them. The selection of recent books, however, is great, and I love having a gigantic frickin' mall of a store across the street from me. I love them so much that I walk over every three weeks and buy a book even if I don't need it, because I want to keep these folks in business and the book economy is hard these days. In short, good for new books. Okay, if not squeeful, for browsing. You could do worse, and chances are good you'll emerge with some books in your hand if you're not a sinful, ugly Luddite who hates reading. Get to. read more

Books a million was indeed a fun visit. We spent about an hour or so here! The girlfriend loves to read and is addicted to Barnes & Noble! So we happily walked in to check it out. As we walked in it looked a lot like a Barnes & Noble to us.You must be wondering if this is a good thing? To us yes! We like Barnes & Noble. However this store did have some characteristics of its own. The book selection seemed nice. The layout was a little strange but otherwise it was easy to find what we had been looking for. Sci Fiction is what I normally read and they had a great selection. Prices even seemed to be on par with Barnes & Noble. Over all it was a good experience. We only bought a few page clips from this location. ($.99 sale!) Staff here where also friendly. Check out times were quick. read more

This bookstore was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were in Cleveland on vacation during the Christmas holiday and decided to stop in here. The closet bookstore we have around us is a Barnes and Nobles. We were pleasantly surprised about the size and selection that they offered but we're blown away by the deals they had as well. The prices are about the same as B&N but BAM had more sales and deals. I would suggest this location to anyone. read more

Don't waste your time here. You will not find a bargain. They seem more concerned in selling you magazine subscriptions than books. They have a lot of junkie items at the front that have noting to do with books. There magazine section takes up the entire back wall of the store. Their clearance books are a real joke. I went here today to take my mom to get a cookbook that had just come out. After unsuccessfully trying to find it on our own, I went to the information desk. While waiting in line, I googled the book so that I could give them the exact title to look up. While doing so, the manager rudely asked me if he could help me send a text. Well thanks for assuming that's what I was doing. He looked up the book and told me that they did not have it. On the way out, I spotted the book on a table by the door. My mother went to pay for the book, and he was sweet as candy to her. What is that about?! If I had known for sure we could've gotten the book someplace else, I would've just left and not gotten the book from books a million. I'll be very reluctant to go back. read more

I went there once it was great but the book I was reading was pretty boring so I decided to return it. The girl at the cashier was so rude and it took them so long to finish. I decided to buy a drink and it took them about 10 minutes to make it and to be honest it wasn't really that good. Books a Million is the last bookstore I'd go to. read more

They have such an awesome "geeky" collection here. Right now they're featuring Star Wars and I loved all of the books and memorabilia that they displayed. Really cool stuff. I looked at their selection of other books as well and it seemed to be expansive, but not overly so (like in the Barnes and noble at Crocker park). They do have a wide selection of magazines. Their prices are iffy, but so are most bookstores nowadays. The staff was friendly and quick moving. I would, however, suggest putting in some sort of checkout line marker as the current way is not exactly ideal and rather confusing. The cafe in the store is also cute and brews fairly good coffee. read more

I love this gem of a cool place! Bookstores like BOOKS-A-MILLION are the complete antithesis of anonymously shopping online (which i'm a fan of too). In other words, you'll get a smaller selection, BUT you feel connected and human, being in an actual 'brick and mortar' bookstore with actual shelves amongst other patrons that are perusing their selection in a community-like setting. I've met a lot of interesting people here too over the years. The way things are headed, these bookstores will go the way of the dodo bird unless we start supporting them by shopping there. I love the fact that they have a huge magazine selection, a children's toy (educational toys too) section, discounted DVD's and CD's, other novelties, and a coffee and pastry shop. It's amazing that they are able to include all of these in a store that is perhaps one-third the size of a Barnes & Noble. read more

I like books a million because I can get a free coffee every day since I signed up for their membership card. It costs $25 so you only have to go like 6 times to get your money's worth the rest is free after. Plus coupons are cool too sometimes. If you like coffee then I def recommend looking into it. Some employees make better drinks than others but that doesn't bother me much because it's still better than my coffee at home. One girl who works there is really nice. She was able to find a book i needed with a really vague description (I forgot what it was called). It's a nice place to go and kill time when your bored. read more
