I pay $25 for a new book, read it in 2 weeks then take it in and am offered 25 cents for it? No way! This time I took in 15 hard back books and was offered 25 cents for all 15 books! This place is a complete rip off- do not give them your business.

The store is clean and well organized, but the prices left something to be desired. If you're looking for non-fiction, they have some pretty solid deals, with a lot of books priced around $5. But they price the second hand mass market paper backs that are a bit beat up at $4. Some had likely been through several owners. While that's a decent price for a book, for a paperback cozy mystery published over 20 years ago in some cases, the deals are less good. So I'd say good deals on used books here is a bit hit or miss

It's a used bookstore with a lot of older books, but I saw some popular ones from present day there as well. The books were organized very nicely by genre and author, so it made it really easy to browse! There's also a healthy supply of crystals and witch type things (I'm not into that, but there's a witch museum next door so it must be popular!). I knocked off a star because the building is over 100 years old and it shows. Parking was also tricky. We had to walk a few blocks and none of the city's sidewalks were shoveled :( And also, the hours were different than what were posted online, so it was inconsistent.

I didn't really know about this store until my church friend, John, suggested the store to me because that is where he found his Bible cover. So, I came to find myself a Bible cover for a new Bible that I bought a week prior. I bought the Bible while in Chicago which is a used Life Application Study Bible that I randomly found for $1 at a bookstore. I was able to find a brown covered Bible cover here at Books-A-Million in October 2025. It has an Ephesians Bible verse on the front cover (Put on the Full Armor of God) and side pockets on the inside of it. I also like the side handle to carry the Bible cover. While at the store, a guy friend from church called me and asked me to find him a large print Catholic Bible (with the aprophcyha) but I couldn't find the exact one that he liked. I ended up returning back to Books-A-Million on October 31, 2025 to buy a Catholic Bible for him. A few others later chipped in money to use in purchasing this Catholic Bible for his birthday in November. I couldn't find a large print Catholic Bible with Jesus words in red so I bought a regular print one with Jesus words in red plus a Bible magnifier. I returned to the store in November 2025 to look for something that they didn't have but per my posted photos, I bought some Dubai Chocolates (I am writing this review almost a year later). INSIDE -- the store is large and organized by various sections. BOOKS GALORE -- There are many books to choose from, including fiction and non-fiction. They offer books in areas of business, religion, mysteries, sports, romance, etc SERVICE -- It may be difficult to find help because the store is large. When I finally found assistance, the employee was helpful during my two October 2025 visits. I remember during my first October visit, the employee walked around the Bible section of the store with me trying to help me find a specific Catholic Bible. I'll definitely be back again if I am looking to buy a specific book (I traditionally shop at local bookstores). Flame & Fable is romantasy indie bookstore in Lakewood. The store is fairly new and is already the…read morebest in CLE winner. In case you haven't heard, it's looking to expand and moving soon (staying in Lakewood). I heard to much about the store, but only finally stopped in for Book Crawl event. It was the perfect excuse to visit! AMBIANCE/INVENTORY: One space with bookcases lining the walls. Great lighting and neutral white shelves. You will find so many fun books here - romance (think Emily Henry and beyond), fantasy (think ACOTAR), smut, seasonal reads (like Christmas and fall), YA, and more. I stay pretty addicted to Booktok but I've seen plenty of new-to-me titles here. If you need a book in romantasy genre, it's safe to say you'll find it here. If not, you can also call the store to pre-order. If you're unsure about what to read next, they got you. There is a gumball machine where for 25 cents you can pick a suggested read (and potentially win a prize). Also, dates with a book are $25. I was pretty close to using gumball machine. I think it's such a fun idea! Beyond the books, there are so many cute souvenirs - totes, sweater covers for books, wax melts, cards, and more. I was at the book shop with a friend who is not a fantasy gal. She found so many accessories! So bring along your non-fantasy friends! Also, I'm working on converting her to a fantasy reader! MY PURCHASE: I browsed the shelves for awhile. Finally I purchased the trending book "Penpal." I'm currently audio reading it, loving it, and wanted a physical copy. My purchase was $17.49 which is probably what it would be at a big store retailer. I was happy with the value. SERVICE: The service at the store was very friendly. The employee at the store (an owner maybe?) was very social and pleasant. We enjoyed small talk with her. I will be back at Flame & Fable soon. The love for…read moreromance and fantasy books in the Lakewood, OH area just couldn't be contained to their first smaller storefront. They have a great selection of mainstream romance novels to more niche fantasy novels. It is a rare feat to find a non B&N type bookstore that has items both my fantasy loving boyfriend and my romance loving hearts are happy with, but this is the place. If you find yourself in there with no other customers, you will get the owner's undivided attention to give recommendations and like most indie stores your fellow patrons will as well.

Even better, they still have some of the menu favorites, including the avocado toast, which was just as good as I remembered. The space is perfect for getting work done. Plenty of seating, reliable Wi-Fi, enough outlets to keep everything charged, and I had more than enough room for both my laptop and portable monitor. They also have a great selection of books if you need a break from the screen. The staff was welcoming, the coffee was excellent, and the avocado toast definitely lived up to the hype. My only note is that it runs a little chilly inside, so I'd bring a sweater. Other than that, it's an easy 10/10 and a spot I'll definitely be back to.
