They have also begun selling entire sections of their inventory to be scanned to train AI then the books are destroyed. Yet they advertise that they rescue books. Digitizing books doesn't count for rescued when they aren't kept intact and accessible to the population but instead only fed into a single AI company. The service at the Hagerstown location does tend to be friendlier than the Frederick location.

Hagerstown has lacked a great local bookstore for decades and I'm so glad that Next Chapter has taken on the task. As you walk into the bookstore, you are immediately immersed in a warm, calming and inviting atmosphere. Music softly plays in the background as a staff member greets you. As a book lover, I couldn't help but smile ask I walked into the room that held a majority of the books. "Wow" immediately left my mouth - as well as others' who entered the store while I was perusing the shelves. Next Chapter has a great variety books, both fiction and nonfiction. A whimsical second room houses all of the children's books. Walking even farther into the building (Next Chapter is like the Tardis!), you step into the spacious cafe area. Comfort is the main goal as patrons have their choice to sit at tables or super plush chairs. If you need to study or work, this is a great place to do it. The cafe offers drinks, pizza, charcuterie, wings and small bites. I look forward to my next visit and highly recommend checking out Next Chapter Cafe and Book Shop whenever you're in the Downtown Hagerstown area!

The wonderful woman behind the counter was just as sweet as could be. I can't drink coffee, and being a new spot, the drink menu is rather brief, but I found a delicious tea I've never heard of and was really happy with it. I didn't eat so I can't comment on the food. The seating area is huge but somehow also cozy. Lots of comfy chairs and couches, lighting that is t too bright nor too dim, some mellow music playing, beautiful wood floors, natural colors, and on and on. I really loved Next Chapter. I wish I had a coffee shop like this near where I live, but I'll have to settle for stopping in when I'm passing Hagerstown. I really hope this new place will be here for years to come!

It's not huge but it has a lot of variety and the prices are fairly reasonable for what is offered. What's really cool about the place is that they not only have the regular used books selection, they also have a good handful of vintage, pulp fiction type paperbacks from the '50s and earlier. They also have a good selection of First Editions that they keep under lock and key and go for some serious bucks. Of course, being in a WV tourist destination, they also have a little area for locally made soaps and lotions and the like. Not a lot. Just enough to make a couple more bucks. If you like browsing through a used book store, this is a great place to spend some time.

Jen was extremely sweet and personable while telling me this and stated I could speak to the manager since it was the end of the day and I really did not want to lose the items I chose. When the manager Shannon arrived she callously informed me that most of my items were clearance and she could not make an exception to hold them. I'm not sure the relevance in how many clearance items I had, but I am sure that there was a major lack in customer service. I will return however I recommend a secret shopper to speak with Ms Shannon with the d3ad eyes to see the lack of warmth for themselves.

As a craft store, it was a larger, cleaner, more people walking around, Michaels. Nothing jumped out at me, they were just another craft store... with no RC stuff. I had did that the day prior and when I got home and opened the package to pack the cord noticed that it was damaged to the point that it was not usable. I figured that I would just stop along my travel and exchange the broken one for a new one. GPS will show you where to go when you don't know the area. Exactly what happened here. I wish now that I would have went elsewhere. I walked in and went to the area they had setup for customer service. Told them that all I wanted to do was exchange it for exactly what I had. They kept the item and I went back to the electronics department to find my replacement. I searched and searched and searched for a replacement. I wasn't seeing what I needed. I went to look for an associate to see if I am just blind or if they were indeed out of the item. When I saw an associate I went over and asked if I could get some help. It was a bit funny, I had asked one and had two come to help me. When I pointed out the item that I needed she used her little scanner thing and scanned the peg. Her database was telling her that there were two of them in stock. But not on the peg. We looked through every peg as a just in case. Nothing. Walked the department to make sure there wasn't a display with them on, nothing. Then the truth comes out. They had no one with knowledge of the department currently working. So even though the associate was answering my questions, her knowledge of the department was nil. She was just giving a blanket answer. Working retail prior in my life I would have gone to the back to check and see if it was just sitting on a shelf waiting to be placed on the floor. Or at least that's what I used to do when working. We would constantly pull items from the back to see if they could go out, if they didn't, they just went back to the back. I ended up just buying the charging cord that was shorter because it was needed and I didn't have any other time to stop elsewhere before reaching my destination. Went to the front and told the associate I was dealing with what the situation is. This is the irritating part. For me exchanging an item that was damaged to no fault of my own and having to get an item that was similar but not exact, I could receive the difference back to me via put back on my debit card (which is my money and basically cash in these days) or I could receive it back as store credit. For real, you think I want to carry around a gift card with like two dollars on it. I guess I'll just wait the three to five business days for it to show back up in my banking account.

They have a nice stock of gundam models and a group that meets monthly to build and share tips. We've entered their local model competitions and met lots of friendly fellow fans through them. If you're not into models they have educational toys, puzzles, Legos, arts and crafts kits, something for every interest. You'd be hard pressed not to find anything here. Staff are super friendly and can provide advice on what and where to solve any problem you might have or item you might be looking for. They also have a reward program and send out coupons over the holidays to save money. A nice local shop with knowledgeable staff you dont see too often now a days.

This plaza, overall, is odd. This store, it feels like it sticks out like a sore thumb, especially…read moreat night. It is bright and new when compared with the rest of the plaza. The part of the lot that this fronts, kind of serves as overflow parking for company vehicle for other businesses in this plaza. Inside it is your typical Five Below. Departments, if you want to call them that, are divided and clearly marked. Well stocked and a good variety of what is stocked. However, the aisles feel cramped and makes it almost impossible to browse if there are other customers in the aisle with you, especially if you are coming from opposite ends. I appreciate the basket/carts scattered throughout the store. It makes it easier to realize you need one of them. I browsed the entire store as I was looking for small items to round out a birthday gift. I grabbed enough items that I could have had a whole new gift. Got to the register and was waiting my turn. They encourage the self checkouts and usually just oversee the area. However, the lady working this night just waved me over to the register to ring me up. Bought a reusable bag to put all the items. But I had to pay attention to the counter. It was wet, I don't think the lady working was aware, but I didn't want some of my items to get wet as they could have been ruined. Oddest thing here, an area ambulance pulled up, parked, left the rig running, came in and shopped. After they left, they pulled out of the lot with their lights on.
