As I have sent many Airbnb Guests to this location recently since they were traveling to Prince Edward Island via Cruise ships they wanted delicious local quick dining & a long distance relative of mine owns this, Moo Ice Cream ( closed for season). What was found out from them most recently is that an overwhelming majority found that the overall value/ quality of the items purchased fell flat to the expectations for monies spent. Boom that went bust. I cannot fathom why someone should fork out $20 for a run of the mill nothing burger that you can get at any greasy spoon for half the price. To compliment your burger you get a sad little 8oz coffee cup with fries. In my case, the fries were over-salted. There really is nothing to redeem here when the whole business philosophy is wrong. If you are not going to bother to toast or steam the bun, that the onions you fry up aren't the sweet ones that every hot dog vendor in Vancouver knows to use, the burger is smaller and more tasteless than anything you can get at Wendys. Moreover, they stuff your food into a lunch bag instead of giving you a reusable tray. They also don't allow reviews on their Facebook page which speaks volumes about how these people are running their business. Honestly, go to Wendy's, their burger is better and you get far more for $5 less. No idea how these guys are still in business. read more

Six years after our first review, we're still eating here when we visit PEI and still loving those tasty loaded cheeseburgers. Can't think of much to complain about (wish they served Coke instead of Pepsi), so there's a lot to be said for consistency in food quality and service. Boom Burger is the newest addition to fast food in Charlottetown. Yes, it's a burger joint (obviously!), but what sets it apart is its focus on using local, fresh ingredients including Island beef, Cows Avonlea cheese and butter and potatoes. Located in a brand spanking new building at the North River Causeway just next to the Cows Ice Cream Factory (convenient as they share the same owner), the décor is all hip and funky in a black and gray scheme with lime accent colours. The space is very clean and bright with lots of natural light. The tables will seat two or four and are designed so they can be put together to accommodate larger groups. When full, the dining room is a bit loud as there is little in the way of sound dampening materials. I visited on Thanksgiving Monday with my family. The line moved pretty quickly. The menu featured the basics--hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers, grilled cheese and fries. You can watch the food being prepared. This was only the second week in operation so the crew was still scrambling a bit. The menu could use a little more explanation. My burger ended up having two patties. I guess the junior burger means one patty and the regular burger has two. If I had known, I would have ordered the junior. You have your choice of toppings including mayo, ketchup, mustard. relish, onions and pickles. It was a very good burger, but I don't know that it was worth $6.49 plus tax. The patties were stacked on each other inside a Bens' bun (maybe they could get buns locally?), sliding off each other and drowning in onions and mustard making for a messy eating experience. The fries were a bit of a let down. I like a super crisp fry and these were good, but not great. Not super greasy but not the best fries I have had. Perhaps they are a work in a progress, but at $5.49 for a large, I'd like something at the higher end of the scale. Boom Burger is definitely pricey. Lunch including a hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon dog, regular hot dog, a large fries and two drinks set us back $40 so I wouldn't be stopping by every day. The opportunity to check out this new place while supporting a locally owned business and local suppliers made me glad I stopped by. read more

It's a little noisy and slightly stark but it's also very bright and clean. The burgers are OK (truthfully, they taste almost exactly like A&W but at least all of the ingredients are local). The fresh, hand-cut fries with zesty pepper are nice. Very limited menu and quite pricey for burgers but a tasty meal from local producers. Oh, and you can get Anne of Green Gables Raspberry Cordial there! The best part, though, was the super-turbo hand dryer in the bathroom. It makes your hands look like they're sky diving. I can't believe how many times I've driven by here and never tried it! What brought me in was their burger love entry, the 'Foxy Dill'. It was so delicious ! And when I told them about my gluten allergy they were very careful to keep my order gluten free. While it is a little bit pricey - this is definitely not just another burger and fries place. I went here during the off season. This really feels like they are trying to trap tourists. I got a hot dog and fries and my girlfriend got a burger and fries. The hot dog and bun looked like they were bought at the grocery store and had nothing special flavor or size or anything sooo plain. The place was pretty much empty and the 1 person working at the counter wouldn't smile to save her life it felt like. Service was bad. Food was WAY over priced and I filled out a comment card about how displeased I was with it and got to response at all. Never going back. Only relying on tourists and one time visits. Save your money and go to one of the fry/burger trucks around town instead. read more

I tried the Halifax restaurant out of curiousity. I like a good burger. Yes, it is about 40% more pricey than international fast food burger chains (burger, small fries and a drink cost $14). However, the food is not mass-produced and I guess they need to make a profit. The Halifax outlet is much larger than I expected and probably too large for the area. The inside is spartan. Music is piped in at an appropriate volume. The staff is extremely friendly. The best part of the meal was definitely the beef burgers. They actually taste like beef. The patties are small at 3 1/2 ounces but the double burger hits the spot. I made the mistake of ordering "the works". There was so much stuff on the burger that the bun fell apart with the first bite. Next time no mushrooms, and raw onion instead of fried. The fries were good. I agree with another reviewer that they need a minute or two longer in the fryer, or maybe they should be twice-fried. Just a little more crispness is all they need, but otherwise they are quite tasty with a generous portion. The pop is the usual watered down stuff from a dispenser. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to give the option of ordering better quality drinks. Maybe real coke or root beer in an old-fashioned glass bottle. It would enhance the 1950's burger joint experience. I give it a thumbs-up. It's also nice to see a local business succeed. read more

Love the burgers. This place is a twin of 5 Guys in the states...same set up, same menu, same serving method with paper bags and lots of fries. Bags of potatoes on display, just no peanuts. Took off one star because I paid $1.49 for their special sauce. For $1.49 I got 2 tablespoons of dill fry sauce...really, $1.49, 2 tablespoons, for lots of fries!!! Don't order the markedly overpriced sauces,or maybe bring your own. For the money you could get a good sized bottle of something at the supermarket. read more
