It was a bright afternoon, with the sun shining through the clouds after a day of rain. We meandered down a pleasant pedestrian only street in the bustling metropolis of Charlottetown and came upon the Cork & Cast. We were cheerfully greeted at the door and promptly taken to a table for our meal. The kids menu did not disappoint, with high quality pasta presented elegantly in a curved bowl. Salads and sandwiches, including one lobster roll, also met expectations. The chowder was rated 10/10, on account of light broth combined with hearty pieces of seafood. The one area for improvement was the unfortunate failure to distinguish between brands of cola when ordering. Despite asking for Coke, we were brought Pepsi without the requisite warning. We were sat outside immediately and Lauren our server came and took our drink order promptly. We had a blueberry na beer and didn't care for it, she offered to change it out, did so (took the old one) and charged for both beers. The Arnold Palmer was basically a raspberry lemonade with barely a hint of tea. We had appetizers - she was able to sub scallops for the shrimp(due to our allergies). We had the seafood medley and 2 mini tourtierres. The seafood was good, the smoked salmon was dyed a purple color. The scallops were good, cooked a tad bit too long, but still tasty. The beef tarts were dry and the pastry tough. While our server was enjoyable and pleasant, the appetizers were not the best, and for the price, we won't be back. The Cork & Cast was so great that we visited a few times while in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. It's located downtown on a beautiful pedestrian street. The staff are fantastic here, very helpful and friendly. We had the best mussels of our trip. They were so good. I also had the Seafood Chowder which was delicious. The lobster rolls I had were absolutely fantastic! Some of the best seafood I've had in the Charlottetown, PEI area. The staff made me feel very welcome, and I will definitely come back here when I return to PEI next summer. Wandered in to this place on a random visit to P.E.I. and the people here were very welcoming. I was able to talk sports with Doug the owner. He said he dunked on Shaq in his day. Our lunch totally exceeded all expectations I had. The mini meat tarts were a fantastic start, taking something very humble and old fashioned and making them new. Served with a house made pickle relish, savory mustard and a berry compote gave each but the chance to try something new. My main was a beet salad with an unusually large number of crunchy fresh ingredients and a nicely balanced house made basaltic dressing. Wow! We stopped in for a drink and had not had lunch. We met the chef. She is darling, outgoing, and takes great pride in her craft. The seafood chowder was unbelievable! She does not add flour so it isn't thick, just incredibly tasty. I tried diligently to get the recipe from her since I live in America and can't go there for her chowder. She wouldn't budge. Oh well. BEST fresh seafood in PEI! Cork & Cast recently moved to the row and it is absolutely bringing A+ game to the downtown food scene. Service is awesome, always busy, and the menu is excellently designed, including a fantastic mix of seafood and other favourites like burgers, chicken, and some great apps. At the slightly higher price point than I'd say average in the area you totally get what you pay for with perfect portion sizes and incredibly fresh and flavourful food. I couldn't believe how much fish was in 1 taco! Sides choices are also delicious, definitely recommend the flattop potato or one of the salads. My only regret is not taking a photo of my gorgeous dinner! Definitely recommend this spot for locals and tourist alike! read more

Started with the award winning chowder which I can understand why it wins awards. Simply delicious. My wife had the PEI oysters which see said were very good and the freshest she's ever had. Insanely over-priced compared to neighboring restaurants for a pretty mediocre dining experience ($19 for a single fish taco, $40 for a regular, everyday lobster roll). Service was great though, which is the only reason for any stars! Pricing obviously isn't their fault. read more
