This is one of the nicer places to eat in PEI. The menu and food are simple and the flavors are nice. However, it's always packed with families which means it's always loud. It's very difficult to have a good conversation. Service is about what you'd expect from a friendly community. I've sampled a few different fish dishes, but tend to go for the Mediterranean platter. Absolutely love this friendly, family-run restaurant, especially since the recent reno. The atmosphere is casual/comfy and very welcoming. I try to have dinner here every time I go to PEI. The menu is diverse and there is something for everyone including the kiddies - from fresh seafood, salads, burgers and steaks. The owners are Lebanese and their cook is east Indian so you can't go wrong ordering anything with a Middle eastern flare. The kafta and rice is so tasty, but my favourite time to go here is on curry Wednesdays (or maybe it's Tuesday - be sure to check! The chicken korma is to die for!) Love their curry Wednesday special! I was looking for a change this evening while working in Charlottetown this week, and spotted this "family restaurant" with a beef special advertised, so gave it a try. I was easily side-tracked into their Curry medley, which is a special every wed. (I have a weakness for Curry dishes for some reason) It was awesome! I nice combination of east indian dishes all in one. Apparently their cook is east indian so has introduced it to the restaurant. At the time I was there (6pm) most of the customers seemed to be silver haired, but there were a few young ones mixed in. read more

Food was wonderful. I had ahi tuna and it was delicious. My only concern was that people were not spaced apart properly.

Excelent home made food, I had the Turkey and Vegetables soup ... could be better but it was ok! The the roast por beef ... what can I say ... like I made in home ... very tender, very tasty. I'll return again for sure in that cold days. read more

The place was almost empty when we arrived for a late Sunday lunch. But it filled up quickly. We understood why, after finishing a really lovely meal. Kidney, burger cooked to perfection. The fish cakes had excellent taste and texture. The BLT apparently the best my daughter has ever had (and she's eaten a few). Magnificent service. Fairly priced, and a pretty stylish interior. Came here for dinner after a long day at the beach. I loved that they use local ingredients in many of their dishes. I ordered the three dip appetizer, which consisted of pita bread, veggies, and salsa, sour cream, and hummus. The salsa and hummus were both fantastic. As a main course, I had the maple walnut salmon, which was amazing. It came with brown rice and some local veggies that were cooked just right - with a bit of bite. Our waitress was fantastic. This was the only place on Prince Edward Island where my water glass was refilled! The only drawback was when we went to pay our check. We were happy with our food and were in a good mood, but the lady who rang us up (probably one of the owners) had a major attitude. I have no idea what her problem was - we didn't make a mess, we hadn't made special requests, we were just paying our bill - she was just curt and rude. It ruined the meal for us. I hope our waitress got to keep the entire tip and didn't have to share it with that douche-y lady. If it hadn't been for her, we would have come back to this place. read more

Now Papa Joe's was an experience! From the starters to the entrees, everything was perfect for my spouse and I. The Seafood chowder was very rich, fresh and tasted amazing. My spouse had a turkey vegetable soup that was exceptional, perfect portions and ingredients that made you feel like mom made it herself. I proceeded with the lobster roll that was stuffed with lobster goodness, very creamy, rich and the textures from the toasted bun to lobster was amazing. (First time having a lobster roll and loved it). My spouse had a burger that was cooked to perfection (the only issue she had was the mustard on it, that she forgot to request to have it removed). Furthermore Papa Joe's was worth the money I spent and will definitely be going to Papa Joe's a lot! read more

My family and I have been going to this place now for about 3 years. The service is great and the food is fantastic. They almost always have a local menu that uses all ingredients from the surrounding farms and fisheries. The owners also have a middle eastern backgound- so if you are into arabic food (whoch I totally am) Get the Arabic platter. The cabbage roll is one of the best I have ever had. read more

Just....no. We've tried this restaurant on a couple of different trips to the Island and have come away disappointed each time. Where to start? Maybe with the service. It always takes way too long to get acknowledged and taken to a table. Then there's the wait at your table to get your order taken, to get your food, and your bill. Even the compulsory "check in" from your server isn't a given here. It's a bad sign when we have to prompt the server for any of the above, but that's what has happened to us each visit. The lady at the cash (I think she's the owner) is not at all friendly. Would it kill her to smile or be genuinely interested in how our meal was? Then there's the menu. The choice of entrees and apps is all over the place- a little fish, a little pasta, a little steak/beef, Asian, some Lebanese etc. The result of this is that there doesn't seem anything that the cooks are really good at. The food itself. We've ordered different items for apps- nachos, sweet potato fries, chowder, and soup. ALL have come out cold or lukewarm at best. The entrees we've ordered have been OK, but our orders have been given to us wrong. As in the wrong order has arrived at our table or there's been something wrong with our order. For example, the last time we went my steak came out rare instead of medium rare as I had ordered. Seriously, how hard is it to keep track of what each table ordered? The servers are quick to apologize for the mistake, so there is that. Saying all this, when we've been there the place has been busy; which just blows my mind. Obviously, it's a popular restaurant for reasons that I'm just not seeing. In my opinion, there are much better options for your money. There's nothing on Papa Joe's menu that you can't get elsewhere in Charlottetown for better service, better quality, and better value. read more
