My wife and I went there for breakfast. It was the worst breakfast we've ever been served on PEI. On top of that the facility is run down, cracked floor tiles, booths beyond need for reupholstering. C The sausage we were served was black and hard. She couldn't cut it with a knife. The toast could hardly be considered toast at all. It was very lightly toasted on one side - when I mentioned this to the server she said - yes, our toaster sometimes does that. IMO if it sometimes happens get it fixed, We like our bacon crispy but not THAT crispy! The coffee was terrible. All for the princely sum of $37. Not recommended Cornwall deserves better - it used to be better - whatever happened looks like neglect. read more

I don't typically make reviews at all but I just couldn't believe how bad it was today. I typically enjoy this establishment but after we sat it took a waitress over half an hour just to take our order, the food didn't come with everything included on the menu, except it did include a few extra treats and surprises for us which was hair on hashbrowns as well as on the sausage, plus the table was absolutely disgusting, sticky on top which I didn't understand until we looked beneath the table to all of the heaps of gum stuck to the bottom. Used to love this place but I don't see myself going back within the next decade. read more

I used to love this place. We went here at least once a week. Over the past year or so, the prices have sky rocketed, and the quality has gone way downhill. I gave them many chances, always calling to let them know when my pickup order was wrong, not in a rude way, but a "just so you know" kind of way. After being sick and asking my partner to pick me up chicken soup and chicken pita ranch wrap on a tortilla instead of a pita, paying $20.59 for that (essentially soup and a sandwich), then having the wrap be on a pita and not on a tortilla like I asked, I finally gave up. Run of the mill outdated restaurant. Your fine if you stick with pei diner classics like burgers, hot sandwich platters, chicken tenders, and breakfast food. Avoid the more adventuresome items on the menu. Not sure why they bother with stir fry. The rice they used was overcooked and tasted awful and bitter, overpowering even the sauce for the stir fry. To try and make it good they add too many toppings, which is hard to do with a stir fry. Even whole celery stalks which have no crisp, just half mush. Yuck. read more

Food is pretty good! Atmosphere is a no from me though. The restaurant itself and bathrooms were not clean whatsoever. We got seated at a table that clearly hadn't been wiped with food underneath it. Waited 50 minutes for food despite not that many costumers. I wouldn't recommend if you are like me and cleanliness is a top priority. read more

Another day, another diner. Sam's isn't bad, if you ignore the run-down exterior and dark, needs-an-upgrade interior. Lots of servers and staff bussing tables and caring for customers. The counter is littered with donation cans, funny signs and items for sale for charities. (I bought a couple catnip pillows for my kitties.) Our server was nice and friendly. I had a burger and fries and my family had a club sandwich, fish and chips and roast beef dinner (what's a diner without roast beef dinner?). Overall everyone enjoyed their food. My burger and fries were very good and I'd happily order them again. Still, it's *just* a diner and while there are slim pickins for good restaurants in Charlottetown and surrounding area, they do exist. We stopped in because we were told that their Burger Love was one of top in the list. The Burger itself was really good - not over the top. However, the big disappointment was that they served frozen McCain or Cavendish deep fried French Fries. I cannot believe any restaurant worth its reputation on PEI would not sell fresh cut PEI Potatoes. The decor was certainly dated. But the staff were wonderful, friendly and it was a very comfortable place to dine. read more

I went here with my girlfriend for a good old fashioned greasy spoon breakfast and I wasn't disappointed! The toast was cut nice and thick, the bacon was also thick and cooked perfectly ... Only down side is that the hash browns are nothing special - looks like they came out of a freezer bag and into the deep fryer. The staff are awesome - friendly and attentive! Next time you go for a greasy breakfast, remember that Maid Marion's isn't the only option in town. read more

This restaurant was just fine. I had chicken tenders and fries, and my wife had the chicken wrap. The chicken tenders were definitely from a freezer bag, but they were alright. The fries were crinkle cut (so obviously not made on site), but were also ok. The plate also came with coleslaw and peas and carrots. Some of my peas were still frozen, and the coleslaw was questionable (but since they came with the dish more as garnish than meal, I wasn't bothered). My wife said her wrap was better than ok, but not great. Also note that there are no refills on drinks other than water. Ambiance of the restaurant was pretty low key. We were there at about 2 p.m. local time for lunch, and there were only a few other people there. They have a pub located in the same building, and a pretty nice patio for outdoor eating. All in all, it was an OK experience. If you're travelling toward Charlottetown on the road, just wait and grab something at one of the other restaurants that you'll come across not 5 minutes later. read more

We stopped here because it was close to our hotel. Typical diner/pub food. We enjoyed just about everything. Some were slightly disappointed with the lack of fresh veggies in the stir-fry but over all was a decent meal for a decent price. We saw someone else who ordered the pizza, it looked amazing. I came here twice during my stay at PEI - once for take out and once for dine in. Both times, the food was good. For take out, we had a fish burger and a double cheeseburger. Our drive home was 10 minutes and the fish and buns stayed crisp. The only bad thing was that we waited about 15 minutes for our food to be ready (there were 6 of us though).Our dine-in experience was similarly pleasant and our waitress was extremely attentive. I got a breakfast item and it was mediocre, not amazing but not bad either. But for the limited choices for food and especially for breakfast in the area, try Sam's. read more

This is our "go to" on a regular basis. A yummy , home cooked meal that will never leave you hungry. Lots of seats and great servers.
