Boomerang bay in the summer time is nice for everyone to cool down. You get to enjoy 2 parks for the price of 1. They have plenty of lifeguards working to ensure safety, but be sure to come early to secure shady seats. These seats fly off the shelf like hotcakes. They have a wave pool, waterslides, a lazy river, a water playground and food areas. You are able to book cabanas. Fun, staycation spot local to Bay Area folks. I like to come here with my kids. It's super safe. There are lifeguards everywhere. I have no trouble letting my kids just kind of run around and Rome especially in the waddle pool area. There are lots of beach chairs for parents to lie on all the kids do their damage. It is tucked away in a corner, a great America that just makes it feel like it's it's a little world. Love that lazy river. Season pass makes this place well worth it. Love that they are open on Tuesdays for JUST Planet Snoopy and South Bay Shores so it is less busy. Our favorites are the Tide Pool with the little water slides, Breakers Bay wave pool, and the Rushin' River. The little guy also enjoys the Otter Trotter for some basic water play. The massive bucket of water that dumps at Pup's Pier frightens my children, but the big kids love it on a hot summer day! Lots of lifeguards on duty through the area - watching diligently. Cabanas are nice if you're going to spend a full day! But always best to reserve well in advance if you want a weekend! read more

This is the place to be on hot days!! And you get 2 parks for the price of one!! We usually get to Great America early and hit all the rides, then when it starts to heat up around 1-2, spend the rest of the day here. The wave pool and lazy river are our faves, I could stay in the lazy river all day. They also have some water rides and small slides. Always fun times!! read more

As I'm sitting here writing this I'm sitting in a waterpark that isn't this one but still reminds me of the struggle that really is Boomerang Bay! Boomerang Bay reminds me of a bit more depressing Knott's Soak City before the current year as Boomerang Bay is very small with only 5 waterslides a small kiddy area with a little lazy river and a very shallow wave pool! The park itself really needs some love as they totally need more slides to make it so you can spend more time here! However the plus side to all of this is that Boomerang Bay is free for you to attend with a ticket or season pass to Great America! Pretty much if it wasn't for if you couldn't get in here free I wouldn't see any real reason to come here otherwise as there just isn't much. This waterpark is more or less for you to come Cool off in on those forever Summer California days as it's just big enough for that to keep you nice and wet just don't come here expecting to spend a whole day unless you just plan on lounging around in the small lazy river! Gold & Platinum Season Pass Holders get into the waterpark early so if your one of them definitely take advantage of that as that way you can hit the slides and then spend the rest of your day in all the awesomeness that is Great America! One other thing that I thought was super cool is the lifeguards here offer a class inside the waterpark to teach your kids how to swim that's really cool because I've never seen another waterpark do that! Overall a good place to cool down and get wet for a bit with the few slides they have all of which are great fun for everyone! I can not believe I have not written a review on this. I only been to the water park here just once and only once. Now keep in mind that Cedar fair has invested in expanding the water park and going on many renovations. Looks like they are going to have a restaraunt and shops inside to the left. On the far right will be new water slides and there will be an expansion of Planet Snoopy which is cool. They are getting rid of also the Cocodile Dundee (Australian) theme as it was the park was once owned by Paramount Pictures. The only reason why I only been there once is lockers are $15 dollars to store your stuff and that money does add up since we been there 10 times this year. The water park is opened from 11am to 5pm, I believe. Once time expires you get an extra 30 minutes to pack up and change out of there. The park does come with admission and connected to the park and is on the left side of the park near Mass Effect the ride, easy to spot. My wife and I did most of the rides there. 1. The lazy river 2. The 2 mini slides 3. The 2 raft rides 4. Large body slide We did not go into the wave pool . It does get crowded so that is why I believe Cedar Fair is investing in expanding the water park and can not wait to go on there and try it out. I will probably go on a weekday for sure. The other thing about being crowded is hard to find a seat. The rides itself are pretty fun, but your butt does hurt on some of them. I did like the body slides. Came here last weekend with my husband and 3 year old and some friends because I found out that Great America was only open for 3 more weekends. Wanting to feel not ripped off in getting the gold pass, we came here bright and early to wait for boomerang bay to open. We got to the park around 10:30 and proceeded to go straight to the water area. We waited about 15 mins before they opened the gates to let people in because that doesn't open until 11am. Have your gold pass or ticket ready again as they do check. We weren't sure if it's because we were there early or if it was just the end of the season, there weren't that many people and no lines. We got a good seat in front of the wading pool. They also have a wave pool towards the back that constantly oscillate the water creating waves. The hubs and I were able to take turns going down one of those giant slides too. Overall a good place for kids to play in the water and play around. read more

So it's the best in the Bay Area... but if you want serious rides and family fun, try Texas or Chicago. I like the way the watermark is integrated into the carnival rides portions, but the water is not warm. Other states warm the water which I am sure costs a bunch, but it makes all the difference. I was here on a lazy Saturday a couple of weekends ago. This by far was the highlight to California Great America, it was a great time for the entire family. Maybe it was the contrast of how much I didn't like the rest of the park at Great America. Here's what Boomerang Bay has to offer: Didgeridoo Falls: your basic giant 4 person raft water slide, like everything else, the wait is a little long, but worth the wait. Jackaroo Landing: It's a giant kids play structure except water water blasting everywhere. fun times, no lines, lots of stairs, DON'T RUN, DON'T EVEN TRY WALKING FAST. Water slides big and small with wild and crazy names: good, not great. Boomerang Lagoon: the high light of my day, a giant pool, good for little one as the deepest is 3ft., lounge chairs as far as I can see. beer and more beer, ah.......lazy and relaxing. read more

Their lazy river is annoying The point of a lazy river is just to drift for days without a care in the world. NOPE they only let you go one time and then they kick you off making you go back in line....defeating the whole purpose. A season pass-holder for the second year in a row but on July 4th was the first time the hubs and I brought the kiddos here. I'm being very generous by giving them three stars because they really need to expand- more water slides, decent flowing showers with a bit more privacy, changing rooms, more cabanas! And let me tell you... I am the BIGGEST germophobe! It really took a lot for me to get over myself and bring my little girl to the wading pool area to play, but when I later saw a toddler wearing regular diapers in there, that was it for me. Snatched up my baby girl and off to the showers we went where a bunch of people in line for the changing rooms watched as i struggled to soap down my daughters body and keep the shower running. The showers are posted between the changing rooms- everybody can see your business! I didn't like the idea that we had to walk around the rest of the evening with wading pool water still left in our skin. Just, EW. Cabanas were all sold out that day, there are less than 10 of them. We were lucky to have snatched up four lounge chairs. Water shoes at the little shop they had were decently priced. I paid more for the ones I was wearing from Walgreens. Food service and Dippin' Dots are in the area, so that was a plus. Unless you want your funnel cake, then you're SOL. read more

I dont know if this company pays to have reviews removed immediately, but I just posted a one star review that has disappeared. We came specifically for the little ones slides. We were told it closed at 8 at the gate, then it took so long as new clients, for them to get us all registered. Then once inside they're us no map. We had to walk for what seemed like miles to dusky get to the water park of which we came for. By the time we got to the little ones slide at the back of park, we were just getting in line for our three year old first slide at about 5:15 when we were rudely told by punk kid lifeguards who wanted to play cop, to get out of water with no explanation. When asking any of them why, at least three of these very young employees, could not answer. Finally at closing of the park I asked a supervisor who said they found unclean, trainted water, ie some sort of contamination. We feel like we should get our money back with it being our first time and we bought a season pass since it seemed like a better deal. Very disappointing. If they'd not taken so long to register us, and if they'd had a few posted directional maps it would've been helpful. Not everyone has the ability to go on line and look for a map. read more

It's nice to get 2 parks for the price of one. My girls love the water and this place is perfect. Their favorites are the wave pool and lazy river. It's great for kids up to about 13 or 14 but not really for older kids and adults. There are 2 medium slides and 3 larger slides with inflatable tubes. If they could, they would stay all day. Make sure you come early to get a good seat in the shade. Don't forget your sun tan lotion, towels and water. I also recommend bringing your own food, if you can. read more

I like it here...on the weekdays...when there are few day camp invasions. There are several activities with various levels of thrill / relaxation. I appreciate the large number of lounge chairs, too. As long as you come early in the day, you can find a good spot to hangout. If you have small children, there are really only two features of the water park that are appropriate: the wading pool and the water feature park. That's okay, though, because both of those are exciting enough for most little ones. As I alluded earlier, beware the DAY CAMPS! Yes, it has water park slides but I have to admit my favorite spot is the open pool that has shallow water for kids and adults to wade in. This is, in my opinion, the best part of The Great America area. It has many different rides for all ages, whether you are looking for a lazy ride, a kid-friendly area to play, or even some thrills, this is the place to be. The lines can be a bit long, so go on weekdays in the summer, all days in June, and all days in October. Compared to other water parks, I felt this one was lame. Lazy river was really shallow, and they made you get out after one time around. I don't ride slides, so I enjoy just relaxing going around the lady river. Not here. 1 time around, then you have to get out to go getin line to get in again (less than 10 people in line). And changing rooms need a redesign. For as big as the "building" is, you could have had at least double the amount. Lines for them were as long as lines for the slides. read more
