My son got invited to a couple of quick birthday races from his friend at school and he had a blast. I will say I'm glad I wasn't on the track with these teen boys but I'm glad they had fun. Where do I begin... called a total of 3 times to clarify information and possible scenarios before driving up 2-3 hours to celebrate a buddies birthday and have some fun. Unfortunately we only had 7 so we couldn't do the 8 person reservation. I called to get info about wait times (I understand that they can't give me an exact estimate so I told them give me worse case scenario) and I was advised that the group of 7 could have some long wait times so we opted to just come up with 3 of us. Upon arrival, place was dead other than 2-3 staff members within sight. We asked the individual behind the counter some basic questions being first timers at that location, we ended up purchasing 2 races and we received 1 for free because it was Tuesday and that was just a deal they had. After they took our money they said "well it could be about 30 minutes until you all race" which we responded saying that it's totally fine we will hangout thank you. Well since we had 30 minutes to kill why not buy some arcade credits and mess around (very mediocre arcade at best). After we purchased arcade credits, about 15 minutes went buy another employee came up to us to let us know that if we wanted to race we would have to wait till about 4:45-5pm because a group rented out the facility and there's just nothing they can do. Keep in mind when we purchased our races, 2:23pm to be exact, we got told 30 minutes. Somehow between multiple phone calls to confirm before the long drive and the day of upon arrival purchasing our races not a single individual let us know about this possible booking. ALSO no we did not show up before this group event, they were already there. Which in their defense the employee giving us a refund said "well we are not allowed to tell people about bookings". Great totally understandable I run a business my self and I understand private information etc. however the lying of race times, letting us wait for a bit and following up with "if you don't take the refund we will give you 2 extra races" well thanks but I find it hard to believe we got the full reasoning behind the situation... also to add more context, no we weren't those customers causing issues, being overly loud, or causing any sort of issues. Civilized beings and in return got a pretty S*** end of the stick. K1 speed its self is great but this location is ran by some individuals that have zero interest in making the experience rememberable. K1s slogan "Arrive and Drive" they have printed on their business cards left out crucial information. Arrive and drive past. Keep your money and spend it with a business that will give you the proper attention. Not asking to be treated like royalty. Just some common decency. read more

Following his train of thought, Rory Mcllroy dials in his game playing miniature golf. He expressed zero concern regarding his employee being disrespectful or his regular "racers" abusing new drivers. Been waiting 2 hours for second race. Why? We asked not to race with the abusive drivers. They go in every other race. We wait, wait, wait! Faux Tony told us he got to the bottom of it and it was some other drivers that are now gone. Funny thing is, despite knowing who the privileged were, I never referred to any specific drivers. Yet, there's faux Tony talking it up with two wanna be racers. Even better, Tweetle Dum Gavin was instrumental in another driver hitting the wall hard in the very race we opted out of. So, now you've been informed. You support regular drivers abusing occasional visitors. This will work until the magical moment in time when it doesn't. When that day comes, It will be a costly lesson. read more

Racing was legit fun. But service, food and "experience" was seriously lacking for $100 a person. Our group of 20 was recently in and got the Taco bar as they had no other options for folks with gluten sensitivity. The food was straight up bad. I've never laughed when the meal was presented before but a disposal hotel pan of chicken, beans, corn tortillas and 5 cups of sautéed vegetables for $2k and 2 races is insane with no water or cups. You had to go the bar for bottle drinks. Also the bar was straight up not staffed for multiple occasions there was a bell put out and I assumed it was for service, hit the bell, waited for 5 min, no one came. If you're coming to race, bring your own food/drink and this could be a good time. Other than that, absolutely skip it. Yikes. read more

I had a really fun time at K1 Speed overall. The electric karts are fast, the tracks are well designed, and the lap timing system makes it competitive and exciting. We purchased a race package over spring break (4/7/26). We were told after we bought the packages that it would be a 2 hour wait before we could race. We decided to leave for the day and come back the next day (4/8/26). Once again, we were told it would be a one hour wait. We said fine, went to grab lunch, and then came back in an hour. We were the told that it was going to another 1 hour wait. There is no way to reserve a time for your race. So each time we came, we were stuck waiting for an extra 2 hours. They also would not refund us for the races so we were forced to wait the two hours or lose our money. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE. read more

Not 1 but 3 bad experiences. I drove over after calling, and the automated message said I had to come in person for tickets. Once I got there on Friday night at 5pm they said they had no races that my kids could do for the night. The next night I went and called before coming. Waiting for a real person and asked if they availability that night. They told me they were open but I had to go in person to get a reservation. After arriving I was again told that they were out of spots. Today I decided to get in right when they open at 10am and they told me that they don't have kids races till 8pm today. Hadn't been here in a couple of years until recently. They have computers on site to sign up, then you move on to pay with one of the employees there. We were a pretty big party, so it took a while to get us all situated. It was surprisingly empty for a Friday afternoon but it seems like we just beat the rush. If I could put zero stars I would, awfully ran business, we called ahead of time and confirmed multiple times that we could race, got the run around and were told 3 people could come in a race, 3 hour drive later we arrive check in at 2:30 all is well, pay for our races are told it's a 30 minute wait , no problem then some lady comes over and tells us we cannot race, there has been a cooperate buy out of the facility till 5:00, then she tells us you need a 32 person minimum to buy out the track which isn't true, gives us the run around and tells us there is no way we can get the races we paid for unless we wait over 2 hours, keep in mind we drove up for a birthday. - The Scam K1 Racing Experience I'll try to keep it short and to the points without a story this time. 1. They force you to buy an annual pass card which is not expensive but why do I need to pay for a membership if I'm coming literally once for fun? 2. The whole car setup is rigged. So basically if you know the people working there as we clearly saw drivers hand fiving and hugging the workers in the racing pit, we also noticed these people they knew were winning and were much faster then the other cars. Why? I found out when I started driving. See they have someone control the speed of the cars for each one. So if your winning and their friends are racing they systematically reduce the speeds of the cars in front of their friends. So naturally I was curious why my cars speed was being reduced when I was leading until I see one of their friends climbing on me to take the lead and win. That seemed very fair lol. 3. I would suggest all women avoid racing. They have no care or punishment for anyone that slams the girls hard on the track. We saw it several times and thought Jesus like will they say anything. Nope. Why? Because they knew the aggressors and high fived them afterwards. 4. The services is well ehhhh. We had to wait several minutes each time to speak with someone to ask a question or sign up. Because they were busy talking about their relationships etc. you know! lol ahhhhh. We will never be back here. Please. A scam is a scam. And this is a perfect one. Lo and behold, they have special kids hours. We asked how we could have known, and they said you have to call a special extension that is not posted online, and they don't post their hours online. We had a great experience for our first time. We came in during a not so busy time so we didn't have much wait time. There's buy 2 get 1 additional race on Tuesdays. It's a good deal. I had to get an annual membership. I was told that's still a better deal than the bundle membership which comes with a shirt and membership. So I went for it. You get an extra race for being your birthday! So if your birthday is coming up within a week timeframe before or after, you can take advantage of this deal. So first experience was a bit nerve wrecking since I didn't know how fast folx will go and I didn't want to get hit by other drivers. The nice thing that I learned is that folx are not supposed to hit each other on purpose like bumper cars so this gave me some reassurance especially if you're going at fast speed. The race only runs until the first person who completes the 12 laps. It was a bummer for us newbies since we were still learning how to navigate the course and vehicle. So I only got to do 7 laps out of 12 for my first race. I did better on the second race and even though I was going faster, I only got to complete 10 laps out of 12. I don't know how other folx race through the course but I suppose it can only go up from here. Wearing a mask underneath is a good idea since they don't clean the helmets after each race. They do give you something to wear underneath the helmet though so that's a little better. I still wear a mask regardless. I felt safe that they have folx adjusting your seatbelts for you. If you pull the eye cover from the helmet all the way down, it tends to fog up so I was told to keep it slightly ajar and that helped with not fogging up the goggles/eye protector. The course wasn't very dirty but I've been to ones that splashed some dirt or oil on my clothes before so wear something dark or clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. A buddy and I showed up on a Tuesday night around 6:50pm and planned on using our free race from a prior visit. 1 race. We waited until 8:15pm as we watched party after party of 1, 4, and 6 racers. I would have understood if the races were full and we had to wait for an empty slot, but why would you have a race begin with 4 people only when there's walk-in's waiting? When asked about this, the employee said, "The races aren't full." Well that's what I'm asking though? Why not get out ONE race out of the way? There is a lot of favoritism among employees and regular drivers. Makes it a complete and utter waste of time for anyone looking for a good way to wind down after work. Staff was nice, and the race track is pretty simple for kids. The check in process was easy on a Monday afternoon. A group of Karen parents were taking the racing too seriously for the kid's league. I like that the track is beginner friendly for my kiddo, but why are people being so hostile over a kid's race? We saw the same group of people arguing with the staff because the kid's race kept slowing down due to kids bumping into each other. I have been bringing my son here since he was tall enough for junior carts. He now races the adult carts and absolutely loves it. 1 Star - Disrespectful Staff & Terrible Management Came to K1 Speed to celebrate my kid's birthday, and the experience was a complete embarrassment for this business. One of their employees actually yelled at my nephew and said, "Use your brakes, jackass." Who talks to a kid like that? Completely unprofessional and out of line. Pretty fun experience and would do it again if a friend was doing a group event. It was $59.90 for two races (12 laps each race) which included an $8 fee for an annual fee plus a balaclava mask. We did a walk-in on a Sunday noon and waited about 30 minutes until we were called. Would definitely recommend going earlier since my friends got an estimate of a 4 hour wait the weekend before. The staff gives you a quick rundown of the instructions (way faster than we thought!) and you wait in the karts until it's your turn. Updated my review to be more clear and focused: --No Way To Book Online- A no-brainer. I should be able to buy a race online for a designated time slot, be asked to arrive 45 mins in advance to check in and get ready, maybe exchange words with a marshal, and drive within that time slot. Instead, K1 makes you show up in person. Sometimes they fit you in immediately, oftentimes you wait 1-2hrs, and sometimes you're told 4-5hrs. Every other karting venue I've visited has a pre booking system. I believe K1 knows how long a kart race runs on average, so why is it so difficult to implement this? This is the primary reason I don't come to this place, because they are asking for a lot of my time, for an experience that is very short. If I could simply book ahead like normal, my friends and I would be here every other week. --Subpar Experience-- I understand there are many variables which can affect how fun karting is, but the bottom line is that K1 Speed Santa Clara does not fulfill their responsibility to teach beginner/average drivers how to drive fast and safely. Other karting venues have engaging staff who teach new people how to drive faster, which lines they can take, what the flags mean, and overall how to be more safe/aware on track. All it takes is a 5 min talk with each group right before the race. This results in faster/more fun racing, and less incidents which increases everyone's time at full speed. I feel that the K1 marshal just asks people to raise their hands whether they've driven or not, and lazily point to the sign explaining the safety flags, with no engagement prior to jumping in. As a result, novice racers enter the kart with different ideas of what they're doing. Some brake, some don't, some race, some let others by, some are there to go fast, some don't really care, many ignore flags. Once you try karting outside of the Bay Area, even outside the US, it's easy to see why I am so upset with k1 speed, this place can be so much better. Also the track staff I've dealt with, while not rude, simply seem like they don't care about karting in any capacity. Other venues have amazing staff who love to talk about karting, but something about K1 Santa Clara feels so cold. I really want to know how they hire staff, because when I was in college I had engineering friends on the formula student team who wanted to work part time as track operators, but they all got ignored in favor of people who don't seem to know anything about the karts they're duty bound to keep us safe in. The management staff must be a complete joke, because how can a place so cool, be turned into a such a lame experience?. The reviews have been bad for a long time now, and all my friends have stopped going. After being to K1 multiple times, a front desk receptionist in the front was very kind to us and gave us great service, but this track operator at (9/11 8:45pm) was very sassy and rude when trying to him explain with our kart issues. With a very rude and short temper tone he blamed it on us knowing HE was in control! On top of that he was unaware of the track and sped up and slowed us at the most dangerous parts of the track, causing danger among other racers. This place looks nice and clean. I wish we arrived earlier and got the kids game cards before the kart race. The kids had fun racing even though they had to wait in their kart for so long in the beginning. I don't know why they had to sit there that long when they weren't even set to go anytime soon. Personally, I didn't like that I had to pay a credit card fee (3.5% if I recall correctly). I wasn't told that when I booked the event or when I checked in. For what they charge to ride plus the gratuity built in to the total, they should already waive that fee! I don't even know why gratuity was added since we didn't do a party package. We did a group race. Why are we forced to tip people to help kids in their kart and facilitate the race? Isn't that their job and shouldn't the business owner pay them for doing their job?
