What an awesome place to stay at in this cute little town. We had an excellent stay! The hospitality is really off the charts here. Heidi was very friendly and accommodating upon our arrival. We ran into Marco at dinner and he was also very personable, even remembered we spoke on the phone. Chef Crista was also too kind, we asked for a later check out to explore the Redwoods one last time and she didn't hesitate to let us stay a little longer. We will definitely be back to this oasis in the hills. Only 4 minutes away from a beautiful forest and 30 to Jenner. You really can't go wrong here! Such good vibes. The room was very spacious and they have quality toiletries. The simple breakfast that they provide also gives you the fuel to start your day! Unfortunately, I didn't request and spa services so that will have to be next time. We had an amazing stay at Boon! Marco and Peter were so hospitable and treated us extremely well. This is our second time here and both times Marco made sure we were taken care of. He's the best! He needs a raise! I've stayed at several other resorts here but this is by far my favorite. The property is well maintained, super relaxing and grounding. They have bikes to take into town which are also well maintained. Rooms are really cute and the place is dog friendly. The pool has a chill ambiance with a curated playlist. The main star at boon isn't the sparkling swimming pool, or the towering redwoods, or the mad stylish comfy room. The main star is the culture of hospitality that Crista Leudke and her staff have created. From check in, to poolside drinks and snacks, to a lovely breakfast delivered promptly at our requested time, it is very clear that the guest experience is at the very tippy top of the priority list. We only had a short stay but when I tell you I could happily disappear here for a week . . No lie, so many places rest on their laurels in terms of good location, good design but the game changer is always the humans - and boon has all the right humans. We visited with some business colleagues and had a fantastic time. The property exudes a hip, modern vibe and is impeccably clean, welcoming, and professionally run. Our room was spacious and uncluttered, equipped with everything we needed. The breakfast delivered to our room was delicious, and it provided the perfect amount of food and beverage before our hike at nearby Armstrong Woods. Some rooms feature a private tub on the back porch, where you can soak with a glass of wine while gazing up at the trees. The cabins surround the pool area, which boasts a sizeable inground jacuzzi, a fire pit, and numerous comfortable chairs and lounge areas. Thanks to the extensive honor bar by the pool, we didn't have to worry about drinks or snacks. My husband enjoyed a much-needed massage at the on-site spa, which was incredibly relaxing. The Boon staff greeted us with smiles and were very accommodating throughout our stay. This is a fantastic spot in a charming town. We had dinner on the main street at Road Trip, where the food was delicious, the place was packed, the service was amazing, and we all enjoyed our meals. As owners of Wine Tour Pros, we travel extensively and often have clients who stay in this area to hike and then join us for a wine tour. I absolutely love it here, it's one of my favorite places to stay. The rooms are really cute and have record players. I love the honor bar and how you're basically just left alone while you're here. It feels very homey. Great breakfasts too. I've stayed here and never left the property all day (except walking to downtown Guerneville for meals), but there are also some wonderful places to visit nearby: Armstrong Woods, Healdsburg, Jenner... I always try to stay on a weekday when it's basically empty. It's a really special place, I highly recommend it! read more

The cabins surrounding the pool with lush vegetation give it a tropical resort vibe. Overall it was a good stay, and the staff was welcoming and responsive. I would add a couple cons though: 1. More attention should be paid to the breakfast orders: something was off each day. The first day they gave me decaf for no apparent reason. I was in denial about what the "D" sticker on top probably meant all day until I got a caffeine withdrawal headache. Dang. Didn't know I was that addicted. Something to work on. Day 2: they gave us regular coffee (yay!) but no tea bags for my partner. Messing with our caffeine intake.. dangerous. Also: I was surprised that "dairy free" breakfast still meant very normal tasting yogurt. Maybe was A2, or maybe.. it wasn't? 2. Room was small, like you could barely walk between the bed and the wall. Bathroom small and dated. The cabin is definitely old with no insulation, so it was cold, but the heater warmed it up. No heat seemed to emanate from the fake log provided in the fireplace. We could clearly hear people outside in the pool area and I was mentally counting down until quiet hours, not that there would be any enforcement. 3. My takeaway: maybe I'm too old (45) and spoiled by other really great places. Younger folks here seemed to be having a great time! So I don't want to knock it too much. Favorite spot for a casual, romantic getaway with my husband. It's within a short drive of amazing restaurants and wineries. The fire pit in the courtyard provides a nice place for a glass of wine and a book in the afternoon. The hot tub is open all hours and with a self-serve honor bar, so you can chill all night after a long day of hiking, biking, wine tasting, eating, etc. The rooms are cute and nicely renovated with your own record player and a collection of vintage records to play. The rooms are spacious enough for 2. We loved our morning breakfast (included with in the room) on the little wooden table by our own private patio. The spa has amazing massages (highly recommend!) Each guest gets their own robe and amazing toiletries. Their hospitality is outstanding- I was sick and they did everything they could to make me feel comfortable- and they checked on us to be sure we were taken care of. I always love the food at the restaurant but found my massage at the spa unremarkable and overpriced. I got the body & sole and the foot portion of the program spent at least half the time with my feet in hot towels - you can get a much better foot massage for a lot cheaper at a nail salon. The body massage was good, but nothing that stands above anything else. Everyone was kind. The front desk did confuse me for other customer, which ate into a few minutes of my massage time that I didn't get back. I don't see myself going back. read more

Such a lovely property! Absolutely gorgeous with the pool and hot tub, cabana, lounge chairs, and honor bar. But if you are looking for some quiet alone time, this is not the place for you. It is right on a busy road so 'relaxing' by the pool also comes with loud traffic noise. I could not hear it overnight, and they do give you plenty of earplugs, but my noisy, drunk neighbors woke me up partying at 1:30am. There was nothing the concierge would/could do about it, and didn't even acknowledge it. I was asleep with earplugs on! Anyway, the walls are paper thin, so know you will not get much sleep. I also didn't feel welcomed at all by any staff, and felt like I was a nuisance, not a paying guest. The vibe is that they are doing YOU a favor. The back balcony overlooks the parking lot, so that wasn't great. But if you are looking for a fun, adult-only place to get drunk, socialize, and party all night, you will love this place. read more

2 stars because they are really cute and a great place. F minus on customer relations. If you live nearby and meet your relatives who are staying there, you will get booted out. They will tell you to visit at a local restaurant, maybe THEIR own Boon restaurant because they dont have enough space in their common areas of their hotel for 3 people to visit (2 who are Boon guests.) So, you go to Boon restaurant where there is barely enough room for anybody and its loud and crowded and you're in the way again. Where do I begin? My husband and I discovered Boon six years ago and it's become a very special place to both of us. We come up from the Los Angeles area two or three times a year because we love the property and the area so much. It truly feels magical, and everyone who has come up with us feels the same way. When my husband and I decided to plan an anniversary party, we planned it around doing it at Boon. There was no other option. We wanted to make sure that it didn't get booked up, so we booked it two years in advance to make sure that we were set. For that entire two years, Crista and her entire team were incredible at guiding us through the process. It was a wedding anniversary party, but it was really a wedding. Maybe even more events. And they were fantastic for everything. Firstly, the hotel is incredible. We did a hotel buyout and all of our friends and family stayed here or in the Highlands, Crista's other hotel two minutes away. Every single person was so impressed with the property, the food, the honor bar, the hot tub, and the surrounding area. They also marveled over Crista. She owns the most incredible restaurants in town. She should truly be the mayor. Our friends that stater at the Highlands were super impressed with Crista's recent renovation. 99% of the party was staying at the two hotels and everyone was so happy. Crista is so incredibly dynamic. Not only is she a master at hospitality, everything she touches turns to gold. The entire event was incredible. Crista and her team stepped in when they could tell that I was overwhelmed or didn't know the answer to something. They had extra rentals laying around so that they could easily step in. At one point, it seems like it was going to rain, and Crista had back up in case it happened to rain, despite me resisting, because she knew it would save the event. She also offered to open up her restaurant for the dinner portion, which was incredibly generous. Thankfully it didn't rain, but Crista did a great job preparing me for if it did. One of the most impressive moments was watching Crista go through what sorts of plates we needed. She is such a master chef, and it was so impressive to listen to her. Crista could go anywhere and run any sort of restaurant, but she stays in Guerneville, and the city breathes life because of her. You cantell she really cares about the people in the city and her employees. Our friends and family and loved ones were so impressed with the space. All of them have said that they want to come back. And some of them have started planning trips shortly after. We have so many vacation options in California, but we will continue to go stay at Boon over and over and over again. I also can't say enough about Jennifer, Crista's mom, Marco, the entire team on the ground, the housekeeping staff, the people who deliver breakfast, and everyone working at the hotel. Even the massage therapists are above and beyond incredible. Jennifer joined the team in the middle of planning and seamlessly stepped in and was the best every single second. The quality of the experience elevated even more. It's clear she's worked in hospitality for a long time. She's joyous and really cares. She knows the area so well and had so many recommendations. It was so sad leaving after the weekend. I know it may seem like I'm getting paid to write this review, but we just had our celebration this past weekend and it's so fresh in my mind, and I want to make sure that people understand how incredible Crista and her team and the hotel are. We are already planning our next trip up there early next year because we can't stay away. I've been to all the other hotel properties in the area, and I will still continue to stay at Boon every time. None of them have what Crista has built. Stay at Boon. Fall in love. Second time here. Ahhhh---Maaaa---Zing!!! Adult only boutique hotel. Honor system bar with a fully stocked fridge and bar area to make any cocktail of your desires. Beer, cider, sodas, mixers, liquor, juice, coffee, tea, wine, champagne, etc. The rooms all have record players, excellent bedding. Guests have access to umbrellas, bikes, and a close walk to town. Spa services are available from massages to facials with an appointment. This visit was for only a night and we stayed in a smaller room than the previous visit. I recommend paying the extra $25 a night for the larger room with its own balcony. The bathroom in the smaller room was, well, smaller. And when you're paying a lot for the room, as it is a luxury stay for a teacher, it's worth it. But room 11 was situated perfectly at the end of the building and far enough away from the road to not hear cars. Despite being a smaller bathroom, there was a small window, which was nice for fresh air. The bed was very comfortable too. No phones in the room, no television either. Be ready to unplug. Breakfast comes with the price and is served 8:30-10:30, and it's a perfect size for two. Forgot to take pictures of the breakfast this time. Freshly made cinnamon style croissants, hard boiled eggs, small fruit cup, orange juice and the best coffee of my life! The coffee came in a French press and was absolutely creamy and delicious, even black. Yes, creamy black coffee. A little carafe of cream came with it. Breakfast is all served on the cutest silver tray. When finished you put outside. I absolutely love this place and am already saving for my next visit. Armstrong redwoods is up the street and the town is in walking distance. Highly highly recommended!! read more

We visited Boon Hotel mid July 2020 amidst the pandemic right after the reopening. We stayed for 2 nights and found the place to be a nice relaxing getaway and a break from the lockdown with safety considerations in place. We stayed in room 5 of the Queen size room. Total cost of ~ $325 a night. Nice touch with the record player in the rooms. No microwave. No water boilers in the room for tea. Wi-Fi works fine. Breakfast is served to your room at your desired time. First day we had what I thought was a Kough-Amman like pastry. Second day is croissant with hardboiled egg. Staff were friendly, warm and professional. Good location to get to the Redwoods for a hike. Close proximity to all river activities and convenient for food and supplies right in Guerneville. Yup, I'm a fan and thank you Boon Hotel. We had a wonderful time and hope to visit again. read more

I stayed here in June for my friends 45th birthday and I wish I could give it the rave reviews everyone else is. We stayed in a glamping tent, which was nice and very cozy. For the price we paid $300 a night though, one would think there would be better bathroom facilities for the glamping area. I've seen nicer bathrooms at actual campgrounds. Two showers in the middle and the toilets on either side, they used plywood to finish the stalls. The showers didn't even have the same fixtures, the sink was on the outside with no shelving to put your things like a toothbrush or toothpaste. The shower leaked all day and all night, I would try to tighten the knob so it wasn't wasting water but it continued to drip and could be heard from our tent. Complimentary breakfast each morning, the first morning we were forgotten, at 10 we flagged down somebody by the pool and asked about it. Days two and three we received breakfast but no notification of yoga on the grass, so we missed out on that. We found out from others that text messages went out to all regarding yoga, again not us. There were bees all over the pool and hot tub area, they have chickens and bees on the property but the bees need their own water source near their hive, that would prevent them from seeking out water from the pool/spa. So many little things added up over the 4 days we spent there. We notified the manager on duty through their texting system and he ensured he would notify the owners and we would hear from them. Sadly two months later and I've heard nothing. read more

I saved Boon Hotel for my 200th review. My most recent visit to the Boon Hotel + Spa was for a charity event the hotel was hosting for the Ceres Community Project. This was my third time staying at the Boon and my first time staying in an actual room (the other two times I was glamping in the tents). BOOZE: The $40 VIP advance ticket included unlimited beer and wine tastings from nine wineries. Each winery was set up on the lawn and it was fun walking around and guiding your own tasting. We started with whites, moved onto roses and finished with reds. I got to know the vibe of each vendor and the gentleman pouring for Equality wines may or may not have emptied a bottle into my glass at the end of the night. FOOD: We purchased raffle tickets to buy food but found out later that only one of the four food vendors were collecting tickets, the taco bar hosted by Boon Eat + Drink, which sold out fast. Seaside Metal Oyster Bar, Chile Pies Baking Company, and Nimble and Fins a local ice creamery were accepting cash only. . . So what to do with the $80 of raffle tickets we purchased when all the tacos sold out? Luckily, the security guard working the event agreed to let me buy bottles of wine from the bar with the extra raffle tickets. . . one million YELP stars for helping us find a solution. ENTERTAINMENT: Our party thoroughly enjoyed the live music . . . Tumbleweed Soul, The Easy Leaves, Heather Combs, and Dgiin. . . but what we liked even better was winning a majority of the raffle prizes. As luck would have it, our room (which is also the most expensive room on the property) had a private balcony with views of the event and we could space out our tickets on the table which I think was critical due to the amount of tickets we purchased. We took a lot of heat for it, but hey, the rest of the attendees shouldve spent more money on the raffle tickets to compete with us. We walked away with countless bottles of wine, a full pie from Chile Pies Baking Company (which was DIVINE), and my best friend won a complimentary massage. We did not win the complimentary stay. HONOR BAR: We ended the night in the hot tub, and sampled some mezcal from the honor bar by the pool. This honor bar is EVERYTHING. Top shelf liquor, mixers, beers, and bottles of wine are offered at totally reasonable prices. You simply take your card out, tally up what you take, and the hotel charges your account when you check out. GENIUS. The way the whole pool area is designed and maximized as the focal point of the property is genius. BREAKFAST IN BED: Boon Hotel proudly serves complimentary breakfast in bed. Further, they serve Oprahs favorite biscuits. Oprah named this companies biscuits as one of her favorite things and they are EVERYTHING. In addition to the biscuits, you receive a seasonal fruit parfait, orange juice, and pressed coffee. Please note that if you stay two nights, the breakfast might vary. I booked two nights this past summer and the first morning I was served bagels and I was shocked. Rookie mistake. BIKES: You will notice a wall of orange beach cruiser bikes when you enter the property. The use of the bikes is complimentary and another reason why the Boon Hotel is worth every penny. If you turn right onto the road fronting the property, you can take your bikes to Armstrong Woods. Just drive right past the attendant at the gate, because bikes have no entrance fee. If you turn left onto the main road, you can drive the bikes into town. Ive eaten at the Boon Eat + Drink and the food there is as good as any big name restaurant in any city. Or take your bike to the margarita bar El Barrio. RIVER: In the summer, the Russian River provides endless activities. Kayaking, canoeing, floatilla-ing . . . My only advice is dont put your head under depending on the time of year because of bacteria levels. WINE TASTING: There are many wineries a short driving distance from the property. I pass Korbel every time I drive in (but havent been yet). La Cremas new flagship winery is a 15 minute drive from Boon (I was locked inside the property this summer but that is for another review). We also visited Sonoma-Cutrer, it is the only winery with a professional croquet lawn. GLAMPING: I have to say that after staying in a regular room, the tents are the way to go! Unless you cant deal with an outdoor shower/bathroom. However, its best to know whoever will be staying in the tent next to you so you can avoid hearing someones drunk girlfriend say "Dont touch my butt," all night. FIRES: Sadly, the morning that we were checking out of the event. Our breakfast was delivered with the terrible news of the fires. The freeway was closed and we were being evacuated. In the coming days, the Boon Hotel stepped up to provide meals and shelter for first responders during this nightmare. And because the Boon continues to do such great things for the community, I will continue to support them, even if staying at the Boon is out of my teachers budget. read more

This resort takes in the amazing beauty of the area and adds to it..... every corner of this property is pristine while respecting nature. This place is absolutely stunning! I was fortunate enough to stay at Boon this past weekend. From their breakfast with eggs fresh from their chickens, honor bar, fire place in the room, everything was perfect. One thing I'll share is how amazing their staff is, especially Kristen and the gentleman who's on site throughout the day (I did not get his name). Sunday (check out day) the storm unfortunately hit and began flooding causing roads to close down, landslides, power outages, wifi and cellular service out etc. The team not only was quick to help us during such a stressful time trying to find a way home but Kristen personally showed and guided us through old rio road, we don't think we would have been able to make it home safely without her going above and beyond. Boon is such a special place. The most recent stay we had (during COVID) was somehow better than our first stay. Staff is warm, friendly, and very well adjusted to current safety measures; making for a very pleasant and safe stay. Everything from the delicious breakfast delivered to your door, to the serene surroundings, to the perfect salt water pool, make this a beautiful and recharging experience. Great weekend getaway. Get room 8. It's a queen room steps from the hot tub but more importantly not connected to other buildings. It's totally quiet and also on the edge of the property so it's private!! We came in the winter so there is an awesome babbling brook 15 feet from the door! Talk about relaxation! Honor bar! Music playing lightly at the pool. No TV! (Bring L.P.s) Clean rooms and property. A stove (fire place) with duraflame. We found this on Travel Zoo so be smart and do your homework. Dog friendly. We picked the perfect spot for our first real getaway since March! Safety protocols were definitely in place at Boon, without any compromise to comfort. Our room (#6) was stylish and clean with a sweet little deck, and the grounds and surrounding area were peaceful (right up the street from Armstrong Redwoods). One of the best things about Boon, was Jay! We enjoyed our conversations with him, his excellent cocktails, and overall attention to service. We will be returning! read more

We stayed recently at the Boon Hotel (May 11-13, 2019). This was our second time staying at this hotel after about a 6 year break. A few things seemed to have changed and not necessarily for the better. The room we booked isn't the room we received. Don't know why this happened and it wasn't explained at check in. We received room ten, located about center to the pool area. It's a clean room and fairly spacious. It only had a two metal chairs which we used for luggage holders but no other seating. The main issues we had with this room revealed themselves that night when we could clearly hear every conversation, bump, tap of a shoe heal as our neighbors on either side walked around. The first night, our neighbors to the left decided to stay up and chat until about 1:45am. Just a normal conversation, no shouting, just talking and laughing that you could hear that kept us up. The second night, the couple on the right side were arguing for hours. They rolled their luggage bag back and forth and then were going in and out of their room, which has a sliding glass door that makes a great deal of sound each time it's opened. Needless to say, both nights of our stay were interrupted by our neighbors being rude, resulting in a horrible night's rest. By the way, there are no phones in the room to call anyone to complain. An issue that I either forgot about during our last stay or the room we had was different is the shower area. I'm tall, about 6'5" and trying to shower in the tiny tiny square shower was not pleasant. There was no place to put the shower soaps on a ledge other than a small curved hand soap tray (meant for small bars of soap which didn't exist). Putting any one of the pump bottles of shampoo or body wash or conditioner on that tiny ledge resulted in it falling off. The space is so small, you can't bend down without hitting your face on the wall in order to retrieve it. Also of note, there's no tv in the room. So after you've been out to dinner and maybe sat by the pool until it gets dark, when you return to the room, there's no amenities for entertainment. Not in room ten, other than a record player and a small selection of vintage records. Something we didn't feel comfortable using late at night in order to be respectful of our neighbors. Wifi is available at the hotel but not secure so we opted not to use it. Our cell reception at the hotel was zero bars so basically, there's nothing to do at this place after a it gets dark. Breakfast is included in your stay. We asked for an 8:30am delivery of our breakfast (they give you a few times to pick from). By 9am on our first day, our breakfast didn't arrive. So I got dressed and went to the reception desk to find out what happened. The guy I saw deliver to all of the other rooms that requested an 8:30am breakfast was there. I asked if ours was still coming. He seemed to pretend it was still coming. I'm pretty sure he forgot as the last room he delivered to was at 8:45am. I could see him from our door, going back and forth delivering to each room. The breakfast (vegan) that took so long consisted of a cup of packaged oatmeal (in its branded packaging) with just hot water added. There were a few slices of oranges, a few berries (they looked unwashed) and a glass of orange juice (probably Tropicana), soy milk and coffee. I will say that having bikes available for riding into town was nice. You have to unfortunately dig through the haphazardly parked bikes to find a pair that aren't damaged. I pulled several out where the handlebars moved freely up and down. Once we found a pair that worked, we took those around the area each day. The pool area is nice but each day of our stay, there were more people there than there were chairs. So it was a bit of a thing to get out there and claim a space early. There were only two chairs that had shade, the others were completely in the sun all day. What was nice is that they allow dogs at the hotel and around the pool. We love dogs and this is pretty much the only reason why I'm giving this place 2 stars. I don't think we'd stay here again. It wasn't restful at all. read more

Great boutique hotel! We really enjoyed our stay here and they even gifted us a bottle of wine for my birthday. The pool and hot tub were great and the daily breakfast was delicious. The walls are a bit thin so you can hear your neighbors, but we had polite neighbors who didn't keep us up. The staff was super friendly and responsive - our door lock did not work upon arrival but they promptly fixed it. Would highly recommend! read more
