We enjoyed staying overnight with our dog in a comfortable cottage! We booked the basic studio. The bed was not super sturdy but it was comfortable enough for a 1-night stay. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and large, with a full size tub/shower. There was a mini-fridge and a coffee maker. The cottage we stayed in had two studios, with a shared wall. Unfortunately we could hear the people on the other side of the wall whenever they were talking (and unfortunately they were talking very early in the morning), so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to noise and booking a studio. Right outside our cottage was the fire pit, which was lovely in the evening with supplies for s'mores! We loved how dog-friendly this property was. There was a dedicated pet relief area that was fully fenced off. The continental breakfast starts at 8:30 and has a decent selection. Check-in and check out process was easy. Parking was right outside the gate along the property. We would stay here again. read more

I stayed here a few years ago, and I've always had a favorable memory of my experience. It was almost like staying at an Airbnb. The front desk folks were so welcoming and accommodating. I was staying in a standalone cabin that had a bedroom, bathroom, and living area. It was very cozy and quiet. In the evening, there was a fire pit with s'mores and other people to talk with. This is our second time here. Checkin is easy, the rooms are clean and tidy. Parking is close so bringing in your stuff is easy. The property is quaint and colorful, cabins are accessible. We had a day between staying in the city and heading to point arena for NYE and since we love Guerneville, we decided to stop off and see if we could get a room in town for the night. We were able to snag a last minute booking here and it was exactly what we needed. The cottages are cozy and the grounds are charming. The continental breakfast was hands down one of the best we've ever had, and we travel for youth sports frequently, which usually entails some sort of generic breakfast. I had an absolutely incredible stay here - Kathy at the front desk was fantastic and welcoming, our cottage was clean, neat, and well-stocked, and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. The concierge, S'more (I also called her "Mousekeeping") was a welcome wagon extraordinaire, and a total sweetie pie! Got back from dinner in town to a crackling fire and fixings for smores - my partner and I already had ice cream from town, but we loved getting to kick our feet up and unwind! S'more also provided further excellent service by hopping into my lap and making sure I didn't get too chilly. Continental breakfast was hot, fresh, and had a lovely selection of goodies to choose from. Checkout was easy and breezy and the gal (I didn't catch her name) was also very sweet and kind. Upgraded to a 1BR by the pool because of a special occasion, and nothing special happened . The bed is the smallest bed I've slept in, in the US! I am 5-10 and I can touch the ceiling barefoot. Normally I find it easy to settle on a yelp rating, but I will admit that it was a struggle with Cottages On River Road. When you arrive, parking is right off the street, so there is just the road, space for a car and then the fence to the property. Even though we arrived just after check in, the office was closed and an employee met us out front with our key which was odd, but fine. We had our dog with us so they told us where our room was and where the dog relief area was. The inside of the property is peaceful with a garden-like setting and our room even had a small deck which was nice. The pool was far too cold to use in September but I did sit outside to eat dinner and make friends with an orange tabby that seems to own the place. I noticed that many of the guests had dogs and I always like to give extra points to dog friendly hotels, especially ones like this with only a small $25 fee. The potty area was in the back of the property and very small, I actually left when I saw another person heading back with heir dog because of the limited space. I am not complaining, just advising. The room itself is where it become difficult to rate Cottages On River Road. When I entered my room, the smell of paint was strong, but the room had clearly been remodeled recently and who doesn't want a freshly updated room? So I opened all the windows and even tried leaving the door open thinking in would air out. I spent a good deal of time on the deck but when it got dark and I had to be in the room, I started to get a headache from the smell. I tried to sleep but the room was so close to the road and the noise from the traffic was just so loud that it was virtually impossible. You would think that by 2 or 3 am there would be very little traffic but trucks seemed to be coming through all night and I was only able to get a few hours of sleep. In the morning I was ready to leave and packed up well before check out time but I wanted to make sure to grab some complimentary breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised. They had a lovely little self-serve breakfast station and the sandwiches were delicious. So although, I fell asleep quite early that night to make up for some lost sleep, I left the Cottages on a good note. read more

The check in was very smooth and staff was warm and welcoming. The property is newly renovated and just beautiful. The location is right by the road but inside is a little piece of heaven. Beautifully done place, surrounded by tress and fire pit. Our king bed room, cottages #17 I believe, was little bit small for my taste especially since we paid little more for a bigger bed but I guess not for more space, not much room to move around and there was no place/shelves to place our 2 luggages but we managed for one night, longer stay would have been an issue for me becasue I really did not have the space to unpack. The bed squeaked when I got up to use the restroom so if you are light sleeper....this might be a problem. read more

This was a charming little hotel. It smelled amazing from all of the cottage flowers planted around the facility. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the location was great. There was no river view, but it was across the street from the river ingress point and also a short walk to food. The breakfast sandwiches were tasty! They're in a metal bread box, so you would miss them if you didn't read the signs. The bed was not particularly comfortable - you could hear the springs as you moved. I'd normally give 3/5 for this type of bed, but the staff were so amazing that I added a star. They were kind and helpful, and I really appreciate the good customer service. We booked through a third party. Since we have a dog, we called to make sure they saw we requested a pet room. The third party didn't share that with the hotel, but because we called them directly they were able to put us in one of the pet friendly rooms. (Always call ahead to verify!) The town is interesting. We walked to the dog park and I couldn't believe a village layout like that existed in the US. Reminded me of an old European town layout. read more

We were on the road and had nowhere to stay. We were in and out of having cell service to find a place. As we got close to Guerneville, we found service and pulled over. We booked this gem of a place for $140 off Hotwire which felt like a good deal given the last minute and Sunday night. You walk into the office that is up to date and the woman at the desk checks you in. I believe the office closes at 9pm, so keep that in mind. We got there just in time at 8:45pm. After checking in, we were shown our cottage. The property is so adorable. There are maybe 15 different cottages at this place. On our way to our cottage, she told me there is a shared fire pit and they have everything you need for s'mores set up for anyone to use. They have an ice machine and breakfast in the morning. After a 1 minutes stroll to our cottage and explanation of the property I felt like we lucked out finding this gem! They have "breakfast" in the morning. There is fruit, three different types of pastries and coffee available. She also has yogurt and orange juice for the taking. This is a great place to stay. read more

Such a quaint and marvelous locale! We very much needed a visit to our beloved city of Guerneville and lucked out with our relaxing stay at The Cottages on River Road! Kathy at the front desk was so accommodating, ensuring we had all we needed. The cottage was clean, updated, and comfortable. The grounds are utterly charming, and they even have a fire pit with s'mores at night weather permitting. They were quick to recommend where we could rent a kayak to enjoy the nearby Russian River. Pets are allowed, and there's ice and laundry on site (Although they provide coin operated washing/dryer machines, they would not make change for the machine, nor was there laundry soap available to purchase, which would be useful) . WiFi worked most of the time, but it did cut out during the 3 nights we were there. They serve breakfast and have a pool, which is refreshing on hot summer days! The fridge and air conditioning in the cottage was also welcome. We would definitely stay here again. read more

I am not one to give 5 stars on a review, but this place is simply perfect! I stumbled upon their website on a google search. I didn't have time to review any yelp reviews or photos, which i always do, but i needed a place to stay at, since I was booking last minute. We got here after dark, the owner called me and let me know she left me the keys in a lock box. She left me a little detailed map of where our cottage was. We had cottage number 16, as we walked to our cottage we were super happy with the property, it was very well taken care of and all the flowers and plants made it feel so whimsical. As we entered our cottage, we were so surprised to see how clean, and cozy it was. Everything was new looking recently remodeled. My husband our two teenage girls and myself talk about this little weekend getaway all the time and always talk about going back and staying here. Cant wait! read more

The service is pretty basic and a little curt. I understand that we are living in a time where it seems everyone is running of fumes. However, they did choose to be in customer service. The rooms are quite clean but the lighting in the rooms needs to be changed. It is stark and harsh. They do have a laundry facility on site. Please keep in mind that they only take quarters. I am the first to admit that I am stingy with my five star reviews. That said I don't know how anyone could not love it here. The cabins are adorable, clean, good sized and better than expected. The property is beautiful and peaceful. Our cabin was a "river road cottage" , two bedrooms, queen bed, two twin beds, fridge and coffee maker. More than enough room for two. The extra room came in handy because my friend snores like a freight train . There is a microwave in a common area if you need it. Property was very quiet, followed COVID standards, small pool and fire pit. (Closed for COVID) Location is awesome ! It's about two miles from Johnson's beach and close to lots of stores and restaurants . The property's cat "Smore" was adorable. The staff is very friendly. The only thing I would say is that house keeping does not automatically come, annoying. I'm not going to mark them down for that because it may be because of COVID. Just be sure to ask for when you check in We will definitely be back! read more

Yes, the cottage vibrated a bit from trucks on the road occasionally, but once I figured out it wasn't an earthquake, it was fine! Lol ( living in SF makes one always assume that's what's shakin').Here are some of the nice details... Super comfy beds and COTTON linens, fluffy towels, no gross carpet or horrid synthetic bedspreads. Nice pool. We have been staying here for several years and have always enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are clean, comfortable and it's a great place to relax for a few days. It's a great location for getting a drink or some food across the street at a taco truck or a burger at the Stumptown pub place which boasts great views. read more

Overall, very very clean room and outside surroundings and dog friendly, both which were greatly appreciated. They provided a healthy and energizing breakfast of boiled eggs, ciabatta ham sandwiches, muffins, Yoplait yogurt, Oatmeal and toppings, orange juice, coffee in a COVID-safe manner as it was displayed outdoors. Some cons: -Dog relief area had NO grass/fake grass which was very difficult for our dog -Not enough bathroom hooks to dry towels and open shower without doors sprayed water out (my husband and I don't when other areas of our bathroom get wet due to the shower) -Some noise could be heard from neighbors and also main street, but our cottage wasn't too bad. Biggest con: At time of booking I was told a 2pm check-in (versus their usual 4pm) shouldn't be an issue. On the day off, the woman on the phone seemed surprised about my request for a 2pm check-in and said "Our check-in is at 4pm". I'm obviously not dumb and know this, but I was counting on the previous assurance to accommodate us 2 hours earlier. I feel some note should have been made on our file to remind them of our conversation. Following this, the lady said she would give us a ring if our rooms got ready by 3pm, but we received no courtesy call to acknowledge they couldn't accommodate us. Therefore, I felt customer-service was lacking in this area. Being pregnant and traveling from afar this did have a negative impact on my trip as I didn't get to unwind and nap before my evening plans. read more

On a spontaneous road trip to Salt Point, this was our hotel of choice for a much needed R&R. Nestled between the serene redwood forest and the Russian River, it was the absolute perfect place for a quick getaway from the city. Quaint, quiet, clean, affordable, friendly & accommodating staff, fast internet, AND free breakfast- there's nothing to complain about here. We only stayed for one night, so I have no comments about the room service. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There's lots of parking out front, a pool, a small laundry room, and a pet area. There's even a fire pit where they have complimentary smores every night from 7-9 pm, weather permitting. The little cart full of skewers, Graham crackers, marshmallows, Hershey bars, and Reeses peanut butter cups was such a treat! My queen studio for $150 was small but well stocked. There was a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, generous Numi tea selection, cable TV, and free fast internet. Beds were heavenly. The feather down comforter kept me warm all night. My favorite amenity had to be the cute jar full of things needed for a restful sleep, such as ear plugs, eye mask, and camomile tea. Our room was situated somewhat farther away from the road, so we couldn't hear any car noises except for the ambulance. But if you're sensitive to noise, the jar will come in handy. In the morning, the cool fresh forest air was so lovely I stood outside for a good 15 minutes just deep breathing. A light breakfast of pastries, hard boiled eggs, toast, yogurt, and fresh fruit was provided. Overall, an excellent place to stay! read more

So you can hear cars driving by all night and all day long because this stretch of road is insanely crowded and well traveled.
