Got my haircut 2 weeks ago today with Leon, and it was a great experience from start to finish. I booked my appointment in advance and Leon, bumped it up 20 minutes, which worked out fine for me. The 45 minute time allotment allowed him to not rush and I didn't have to instruct him on what to do? Thank God! I like to shut my eyes and meditate while getting my haircut. The shop is nice and comfortable and located in a great spot with lots of street parking. I usually go 8 to 10 weeks between cuts but I actually will reschedule with Leon, again once I know it's time. I definitely recommend you visit Boondocks and schedule with Leon. I was recommended by a friend to do so and I am 110% satisfied. read more

Have been a loyal customer for almost a year. From appearances, all barbers are highly skilled and super easy to get along with. I have been with Pedro. He's very smart, has great technical skills and diverse interests. You get what you ask for. Clean, precise. I read a previous review where the customer was disappointed. The customer seemed unsure and uncommunicative. Precision barbers rarely have crystal balls. read more

New to the area and needs to find a place to cut my husband's hair. After extensive search, this place seems to have good reviews and decided to give it a shot. Booking appointment seemed to be easy online, only was told later by the owner (Michelle) that she doesn't take new customers... okay, rescheduled to a different barber. On the day of appointment (I went with my husband), Pedro did started on time, only had bare minimum conversation with my husband on how to cut his hair. Choose a number 1-4 and that's how long your hair would end up. No communication on how he typically parts his hair, what style/look he wants, nothing. My husbands asked for a 2, and it ended up EXTREMELY short. There is no transition between the sides and the upper part, and it looks like a cap on top. Overall extremely dissatisfied experience and we would not recommend this place. read more

Consistency is key. I feel this is something missing at boondocks. I've been cut by all of the barbers here but I stick with one barber 98% of the times unless I need a last min cut. Maybe 3/5 I times get something I'm really happy with. Sometimes the top is uneven. Taper or fade isn't clean, I could actually see the line between sizes. Leo is the best in my opinion .. see him. Fade and tapers are super clean and he takes his time. Also for $45-$50 cut. Why should I ask for a neck shave? This should be included with every client cut. Hopefully the owner looks at this and take this feedback. They are all very nice people overall but I think if they improve on what I've mentioned. They would really shine. read more

I was getting my hair cut next door to Boondocks--it is short--and while getting my hair cut, I watched the barber across the little patio cut a woman's hair exactly as I wanted. I paid the salon and decided my next cut would be at Boondocks. That was 3 of years ago and I am still getting my haircuts at Boondocks by Michelle. She is fantastic, a terrific barber who makes my very thick hair look really cute in a pixie! The time I spend with her is interesting as we talk about well, a whole lot of stuff! Good haircut, poor scheduling. Both times I booked here the barber made last minute changes to the appointment time. For $50+ plus tip one should expect sticking to the agreed upon time. Leon does an absolutely impeccable job (and I am very picky about haircuts- it drives me crazy when the hair is extremely uneven or there are holes). I was there for the first time yesterday. Found them through Yelp. Previously I'd been going to Supercuts but wanted something more professional as one of my daughters is getting married next week. Pedro cut my hair and did an excellent job. One of the things I appreciated about him is that he took his time, unlike what I've experienced at Supercuts. He gave me probably the best haircut I've had in years. Also, it might sound funny to say this, but it was fun to just sit there while Pedro did his cutting, because the barbers (all four of them) were friendly and conversational. It was obvious they liked each other and enjoyed joking around. Michelle, one of the barbers, is also the owner, and she was part of the banter. Bottom line, I got a great haircut and enjoyed the genuine friendliness. I recommend you try them out. read more

What a bunch of rude people they might cut great hair but they need to take a class in manners walked in with my eight-year-old son and stood there listening to the two people talk back and forth one with a broom in hand the other cutting the one person in the establishments hair. Waited for a few minutes as they talk back and forth like I was not there. I asked the guy with the broom and hand if he was just a broom guy or cut hair. He said he cut hair but wanted to know if I had an appointment I did not. He said he would check and another lady walked in the door. She said I needed to go online and book an appointment I said I was not interested in that she said that's how they do business. I really struggled to find a place that will do a good job on my son's hair (who is now 7.5 yo). The bangs were always too long, too short, crooked, hair didn't look right. Finally a stylist at my own salon recommended Pedro Mora at Boondocks. Bingo!!! Pedro does an amazing job on my son's hair every. single. time. It looks so hip- he is amazing at styling, as well as cuts! Now my husband gets his hair done with Pedro as well. Amber is awesome! She is chill and listens to you. She has given me some of the best hair cuts ever. I wanted to take a risk and do a faux hawk, and she made it look just like the way I wanted and helped with tips and suggestions. Now she is my Barber no one else. I go to her because I like alternative hair styles and she has one too and understands. She can do men or women. I am a female, but she is the best person for me. I don't think a hair stylist/beautician could do a better job than Amber! read more

I've been getting my haircut from Michelle for going on a year now and when I discovered that she opened her own shop, I immediately booked an appointment.
