DOWN IN THE BOONDOCKS Came during a World Cup match and trivia night. Probably not staffed appropriately but the waitresses were not very attentive and service was mediocre. The maple wings were about the same. Decent bar food but nothing that stands out. Happy hour deals are considerable for stopping by. Not a bad place to hang out for some drinks and bites. The TRIVIA was okay. You are pretty much self guided. The host doesn't really talk during the entire trivia, so you just have to make sure to pay attention to the tv screen, if you can see it. At least it gives you a time warning alerts so you get answers before the time expiration. It is displayed in the corner so get a good seat. The questions were not too hard, ranging from picture clues to questions and multiple choice. There is an app to use for the trivia so leave yourself enough time to set up if it is your first time. read more

First time at this location of Boondocks. It was for their Halloween Spooktacular. It's a smaller venue with parking behind the building, which fills up quickly so arrive early if you want to park there or find adjacent parking. Inside it's a smaller cozy bar. It was nice having a live DJ Roy there. I like that there are booths as well as seating around the bar and also tables. The wait staff was friendly and courteous and they regularly stopped by our table and it was nice to not have to hunt up staff to get our bill like other bars. I would recommend this bar if you're looking for a more cozy friendly bar to go. It has just the right mix of dive, sport and live DJ! Try to attend one of their party events! read more

I will be back. Stopped in for Happy Hour with my sister. We sat at the bar and Tyler the bartender was super amazing in welcoming us, going over the menu, and serving us. The Aperol Spritz I ordered was so refreshing. I wanted to get another one but I didn't have time. We ordered the loaded fries which were ok. It was a nice portion size like Tyler mentioned but the nacho cheese didn't have much cheese flavor. The Carne Asada was tender and tasted like it was cooked over an open flame. It was very tastey. The fries were piping hot and not sitting under a warming light like some places. This was a short dining experience because I had to catch a movie and didn't want to be late. Was running errands on a Wednesday night and my boyfriend said he wants to go to Trivia so we found the closest one and walked in. Couple tables of "townies" playing a game. Fun vibes overall. We expected a live person presenting like most trivia's but this was all on a TV screen so if you want live trivia, this is not the place for you. We were hungry and were surprised at the extensive menu they offered so it took a little while to select. Ended up choosing a burger with tator tots which did not disappoint. Also ordered brussel sprouts which if you read any of my reviews I order plain fried brussel sprouts any chance I get. The food was scrumptious and the service was great. All staff was very friendly. I go often after work with coworkers. Darts, pool, goldent tee, and a nice patio. Really cool space with both indoor/outdoor patio seating. We came to watch a game and the outdoor patio was perfect on the warm day to enjoy the sun with the covered patio and fans to cool you down. Service was really quick and the wings and curds were solid bar food options to pair with the crisp beers. They were also attentive and always made sure to check in on us outside. 4 pm on Friday, not busy yet. Friendly server gave us lots of time to decide. We ordered happy hour appetizers. College boy had mac and cheese, and I ordered the fried brussel sprouts. The sprouts were a bit underdone but had a great flavor. Sweet from the balsamic, but salty from the goat cheese and the capers. I ate a lot of the outside leaves and brought them home to cook them for 10 more minutes more as leftovers the next day. The mac and cheese was not overly thick and rich, but creamy and well prepared. He also had a bacon BBQ burger. It came in a puddle of sauce, so he finally removed his hoodie to eat it! I have never seen more bacon on a burger, there must have been six pieces hanging off the sides of the bun. Burger and fries were devoured, pronounced pretty darn good for a dive bar. I am sorry I didn't take any pictures . Neither one of us was drinking but our adorable server kept up with Coca-Cola consumption quite well. Look, this is the second week in a row I've come here and had great food. But good lord... do I HAVE to flag someone down and literally ASK for my check? Both times. I'm drinking water and my food has been eaten and my tray has been taken and I have to wait TEN MINUTES before I awkwardly ask for my check. It's not like I would be waiting for a refill on water or something or waiting to see until I finish a beer if I want another. I feel like this comes most standard at restaurants, especially bars, where your receipt is put in a glass if you sit at the bar. Or heck, receipt even given to you without asking. Food is great, but if I come again and the same thing happens I will sadly probably miss out on good food because of that service. Again, no complaints of food. But both times there were 6 or less people also. That and the first time i had to ask for a refill of water after no one checked on my glass. As well as having to ask for a fork both times. Fun place to be on a Saturday night! There was great music playing the entire time and then around 9 they had a live country band and that was great! The ambiance was good, people were playing pool and a few other games they had there. They service was amazing our guy kept coming to our table to see how we were doing. The lost star was on the food, it just wasn't it, fries were SUPER garlicky, tacos a little on the salty side, mini corn dogs were good to snack on and after we asked for extra sauce the wings were good (I would recommend those) . I was assaulted and I got in trouble? Literally wtf, I was here with my boys from outta town and this place sided with the dude who attacked me. I'll never go here again, fuck this place and every managerial staff member included. Bunch of cowards. I was the one who was assaulted. I had my eyes closed, I was dancing, minding my own business. I can't tell you who hit me or why, because I literally had my eyes closed and was vibing to the music. Next thing I know, some dude is swingings on me, his friends jump in and try to jump me -- and I'm the one who got banned. I amiably talked to security and tried my absolutely hardest (while being shooken up from being literally jumped) and they wouldn't even listen to me. Fuck you to every single worker there. My lawyer will have a field day with this. 0/10 do not trust this place with your safety or wellbeing. They don't care about you or your safety, only their own liability. I cannot emphasize how poorly the entire staff handled this situation. I tried to explain to them that I literally had my eyes closed and can't even tell them who hit me, and they didn't care. My husband brought me all the way from my fave bar in tempe to this place, I have to admit, I had a great time. Lo and Brittany,our bartenders,make sure my husband and I were taken care of. Parking was larger (but not very large) and better paving than I expected. The patio was a nice size, w/ heating lamps. Unfortunately I was facing the sunset & was blinded for a few minutes before it went down; I don't recall them having outdoor shades that could have been pulled down. The service was prompt & courteous. The only item that irked me was the main door was propped wide open by a sign and its openness blocked the other patio door's exit ... which seemed unsafe to me. Wonder what the fire department would have said about that ... LOL. One of my friends ordered the peanut butter burger, which almost made me gag just thinking about it but I must admit, it was a good burger! Went to this new Boondocks location to watch the college football championship. My friend and I ordered the chicken tenders as well as the fried cauliflower and fried cheese curd appetizers. For being such a basic order, I was surprised how much I enjoyed the chicken tenders. Not too heavily breaded and the chicken was well cooked. I also liked the fried cauliflower. I appreciated that the kitchen doesn't fall into the typical sports bar trap of adding excessive oil. Being so close to ASU, it's very much a college bar with lots of students and loud music when a game isn't happening. read more
