Last night, she got up from laying down and was hopping, using only two legs. Yesterday was Easter Sunday and I left a message about the deer. By 8am, a sweet woman called back and said a warden would come see the deer today. By noon, Deputy Mastin was here, evaluating the deer. Deputy Mastin said she was using three legs today! He said she can definitely survive like that. He was wonderful to talk with. I wasn't able to sleep at all last night, thinking of the deer suffering. The reassurance from Deputy Mastin means everything! Cincinnati Animal Care, thank you for being there.

Even if we already have dogs, we will make room for one more, because the shelter is over-full; or because the dog is deteriorating there; or even because the dog is sick and needs a place to convalesce. (Those of you shopping for dogs like they are merchandise may be surprised by this. Yes, people deliberately take home old and sick dogs!). This does make it harder to adopt the dogs in fosters, but *it is better for the dog*. It also allows for a bit of distance between abusers and dogs. Earlier this year we adopted a male from our local dog pound that required at $5,000 surgery that we had done for him. I hardly ever leave reviews but this place makes it much more difficult for loving penitential adopters to rescue an animal.

We live in Crittenden now, but I still make the trip to see Dr. Huesing. The office has always gotten us in quickly and the prices are very reasonable. He won me over when my kids were toddlers and we got a puppy from the pound. Two days after we got him home he started getting sick and was diagnosed with Parvo. We couldn't afford a huge vet bill and, long story short, Dr. Huesing kept the puppy at his office for 2 nights and gave the puppy medicine. He only charged me $30 for the medicine when the time came to put him out of his misery. He can be a little gruff at times, but it's only when he thinks you are doing something that is not in the best interest of your pet. He will tell you what he thinks, which I appreciate. I've tried other vets closer to home at times through the years, but I never cared for any of them as much as Dr. Huesing. His years of experience have made him very knowledgeable and I'm sure he's seen it all. His staff has been with him just about as long and they are wonderful as well.

They called me at work and said they would have to sedate her to even examine her. H. Vet had this same cat eating out of his hands in minutes. The staff and doctor here are not like any I've experienced at a vet so far. Not to say the others were bad. This was just different. They were kind and treated Lady like she was one of their own. They took a LOT of time going over many questions I had about things not even related to the injury. Turns out her limp is the result of a old injury. I was given some meds to help her out and was on my way. lady liked the staff here so much that when they left the room she whimpered and stared st the door. Not once did I feel like I was a burden or that my pet wasn't "liked". A complaint I often hear about vets. This is our new vet for sure. Dr Middendorf loves animals. That's for sure. This is what really happened...I knew something was wrong when: 1. I pleaded with Faithful Friends to give me a receipt to prove they picked up Oreo( I wanted a date). Also a receipt showing a date proving that she was cremated. I kept asking...they kept refusing. Kim, from Faithful Friends that commented on my review was the person that kept refusing to give me a receipt proving they had picked up Oreo and proving that she was cremated. She also blocked me from talking to anyone else. She, the other staff, as well as Middendorf didn't know where Oreo was or even who the driver, who was supposed to pick up Oreo. 2. I also knew something was wrong when their dates didn't match Middendorf's dates until they finally got together and picked a date that worked for them. 3. Oreo was referred to as a "Male"...my precious Oreo is a FEMALE. 4.Brittany, Jim, Brian and Lorie and staff didn't even have compassion for my Beloved Oreo to return my calls. I will be reporting them to Animal Cruelty Organizations and the Ky. Board of Veterinary Examiner. I am devastated that I still don't know what happened to my Beloved Oreo or where she is. If only I had walked back in that room and taken my precious Oreo home instead of leaving her with these people. I will never get over this. Our puppy came home crate trained and largely sleeping through the night - which is unheard of for puppies! The breeders socialized the puppies, so ours was excellent with kids and other dogs.
