An offshoot of The Bubble Room, Boops is a cute little ice cream parlor/breakfast spot next door. We enjoyed our breakfast immensely, and the coffee was delicious. Bubble Room's famous huge hunks of cake can also be ordered here, which is nice, because after our huge dinners, we were too full to order dessert the night before. Customer service was good, interior was clean, and the people watching outside is fun.

Without fail, we stop by Boops every summer when our family visits Captiva Island. It's not a trip to Captiva if I don't get my Orange Crunch Cake. The shop is adorable, with a retro vibe and Betty Boop decor. They keep it simple here, serving up the islands best cakes and ice cream in a cute little parlor setting. The Orange Crunch Cake is definitely the best there is, but everything is good here. Parking is available across the street, and it's a small lot but we've always been able to find a spot.

Best cake, hands down. The most interesting and different cake is the orange crunch. Pieces are huge! We've been eating this cake for 25 years.

Boops by the Bubble Room is located on Captiva Island and is the sister shop to the Bubble Room. The Bubble Room was closed for so long due to Hurricanes and water damage but is finally back and open to the public. While it was closed, you could still get the famous Bubble Room Cakes here at Boops. We always get the cakes here now because we like to get them the first night since it takes a day or two to eat them. Then if we feel like it, we usually get another slice to share all together, they are literally that good! Their store is SMALL! I mean tiny. Some nights driving back in we can see how packed they are. They have seating inside and outside but in the summer it is way too hot to sit outside! There are only a few tables. They also have everything to go. They have ice cream, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and the best item....Bubble Room Cakes! This is what we go for but also frequently stop for an afternoon espresso. This the first year that the first night we went, the staff was not very friendly. The island sells coupon books, and one of the coupons was for a free espresso if you ordered a cake. Well we ordered 5 but only expected 1 espresso. There were quite a few team members standing in the back not seeming to be busy. The cashier was being trained and the trainer was the one that ended up giving us major attitude. We ordered our 5 cakes, stepped to the side. I could see her bagging up the cakes and one fell and toppled over, it was up side down, the cheesecake and all the fruit toppings were falling off. I turned it up right (it was sitting on the counter) and she snapped at me saying, "What is that piece not good enough?". I was totally taken aback and just said I'm just turning it over. She then threw all 5 cakes into a tiny bag we could hardly hold. I was not even going to ask for a second bag. I also had to go back and ask for the espresso. She threw it at me again stating, "only 1". I'm not really sure what the problem was, we went early because I know how busy it gets and no one else was in there. There were almost 8 employees so its not like they didn't have enough coverage. I was just a little disappointed in the service we received. However, this was the first time since they opened we have ever experienced that. The second time we visited this year, they were welcoming and friendly and packed to the rim. They even got our cake really quick while everyone else was still waiting for their ice cream. I am not even a cake person but I will always get a cake here. I love the cheesecake and last year I could not get it. I was so happy it was back. it is a THICK graham cracker crust and topped with slices of fresh fruit. My dad choose the orange crunch cake which is a yellow cake and brown sugar almond layers and orange cream cheese frosting. It is delicious and probably the most popular on the menu! My mom ordered the white Christmas which is white cake with almonds and covered in whip cream and coconut. She loved it and it was a nice piece of cake. My sister order the tropical breeze which mandarin orange cake with pineapple cream cheese icing and topped with fruit. Also very delicious and very island like. My husband always orders the Jamaican Rum Cake which is buttery pound cake soaked in rum with chocolate mouse and a pecan rum glaze. He loves it and is the only one who really enjoys it so it's all his, no sharing! We also ordered a slice of their chocolate cake on another night, which is moist chocolate cake with chocolate fudge toffee and pecan crunch icing. This is probably the least value as it's the same price as the rest but the smallest slice. However it is fantastic and we always have to share since it truly is delicious. It is very fudgy and chocolatey. I really like this one. All in all this is a great place, great food, sweets, friendly staff and just all around cuteness. I highly recommend checking it out next time you are in Captiva!

On top of this we also had to go back and ask for the espresso. She threw it at us again stating, "only 1". This was unequivocally the most angry person we've encountered in all of our time vacationing in Captiva over the years. We stopped by Boop's to grab some of the Bubble Room's famous cake. The coffee was pretty good, and the ice cream was delicious. The shop itself is adorable, with both inside and outside seating--such a fun little spot to visit.

I love that the Bubble Room added this ice cream shop where you can also buy slices of their famous cakes! The updated building is still filled with old-timey ice cream shoppe knickknacks in the theme of Betty Boop. They serve (boozy) milkshakes and coffees and a few ice cream flavors (and a sorbet of the day) with a longer list of toppings. The no frills atmosphere fits with the simplicity of the island, but I would love to see a few more ice cream flavors than vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip, and cookie dough. The Bubble Room is a staple on the island, and currently (November 2023) only Boops and the Emporium are open. Give them your support and cool off on a hot day!

The cake was amazing. Rachael was such a wonderful hostess/clerk/manager and took care of us on "someone's" birthday. *be aware do to the effects of the Hurricane Ian that hit in 2022 there is still lots of recovery going on here in the islands... Boops has been closing earlier than the Yelp listing (suggestion: get there before 6pm)

We ventured in here after spending some time at the beach. Being in need of a coffee and something refreshing to fuel our ride back home to Sarasota, we were happy to stumble upon this place. We learned that Boops (aptly named for Betty Boop as there is a statue of her in the establishment), is affiliated with the temporarily shuttered cool-looking restaurant next door. Boops offers coffee, drinks, ice cream and baked goods suck as cakes and muffins. We selected a coconut cake to share for a delectable sugar boost and we had ice coffees. We enjoyed the attentive service and the delicious coffee and treats. Check this adorable place out if you are in the area!

The bubble room cake savior! We ended up taking a whole orange crunch cake home because why not. I also had a very delicious iced tea. It's a tiny place but the people are friendly and it's so nice to be able to find the bubble cake while the bubble room is still being worked on.

We stopped in for lunch instead of dinner, and it turned out to be one of the best meals we had during our trip to Sanibel. We started with the crab cakes served with lobster sauced mango coleslaw, and jasmine rice. The flavors worked incredibly well together, with the sweetness of the mango and rice perfectly complementing the crab cakes and lobster sauce. For our entrées, we had the blackened grouper with yellow rice and black beans. Everything on the plate paired so well, and the grouper was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. This took me back to other fantastic fish dishes in other islands like Hawaii, the keys, the Caribbean, etc... The piña colada was delicious and made the experience even more fun because it was served inside a real pineapple. It was refreshing and not too sweet, definitely something I would order again. We finished our meal with the key lime pie, which was the perfect ending. It was creamy, tart, and exactly what you hope for when ordering key lime pie in Florida. Before visiting, I noticed quite a few reviews mentioning long wait times. Thankfully, that wasn't our experience at all. We visited during lunch, so that may have made a difference, but we were seated quickly and received excellent service throughout our meal. Jenna was incredible, funny, and nice. Just about the entire staff has some whimsy about them. Telling us the history of the location and cracking jokes. I can honestly say I would probably drive the four hours to Sanibel just to eat at the Bubble Room again. Not because of the decorations or for the service, (these were great) but because the food left me craving more! The food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience made it well worth the trip. If you're visiting Sanibel and wondering if it's worth the hype, I would absolutely recommend giving it a try. Next time I'm going for dinner for sure!

Parking was tight but we were able to find a spot. Service was a little slow and a bit curt, but despite us coming at an off-hour (~3pm), the restaurant was pretty full and lively, so I'll give service a pass. We started with the calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was excellent! It was served hot and each piece was tender - no notes. I also sampled the shrimp bisque but it was quite chunky/thick and not creamy. It felt like the texture came from puréeing the shrimp which I found to be off-putting. It's served with oyster crackers. My friend and I ordered the seafood platter, which is big enough to share. It came with clam strips, fried shrimp, peel and eat steamed shrimp, a piece of fried fish, a single bbq shrimp, French fries (similar to McDonald's shoestring fries), coleslaw, and all the necessary condiments - tartar sauce, cocktail sauces, and an aioli. It was quite filling. My favorites from the platter were the fried shrimp and steamed shrimp - they were cooked nicely and had good texture. While we were eating, the table next to us ordered the shrimp platter and crunchy shrimp - both looked really good. I was least impressed by the lone bbq shrimp - it was a grilled shrimp and topped with bbq sauce, which didn't add anything. You'd think because there was only one piece of shrimp, that it would be something special... it was anything but. Our table also ordered the Chicken Marco Rosa (chicken breast with goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, basil, and a lemon butter sauce, served with potatoes and green beans) and shrimp tacos. The lemon butter sauce was very tasty. The shrimp tacos come with two tacos and are also served with chips and salsa. The tortilla chips are comically and obviously store-bought. Overall, I would say the food is good, but nothing exceptional or worth going out of your way for. The grouper sandwich is market price, which was $40+ (which I find absurd). The Mucky Duck is "THE place to be" at sunset, but when you come at a time other than sunset, it's pretty average.

I remember walking down Andy Rosse as a kid from the house we rented with my abuelo to get coffee for the house every morning on vacation, and I'm happy this spot still exists to keep the memories going for folks enjoying the island. Wishing the Bailey's and Island store team the most success as they rebuild. And if you have the pleasure of visiting the island as it continues to reopen restaurants and businesses, be sure to make time to do your groceries and locally owned and operated spots like this.

This little store is located on Captiva Island. If you are unfamiliar with this store or island,…read morethere are very few grocery stores you can shop at. This is a great shop, if you need last minute items. It is essentially a grocery store, but they have a few additional items such as beer, wine, liquor and gifts such as cups, magnets and shirts. We stopped here a few times on our last visit to the island. There is always something you forget, and we appreciate shopping at a local mom and pop place as opposed to a large retailer. It is very small. They have a cooler with fruits and vegetables as well as other cold items, dry stock items, such as breads, sauces, chips, etc. We noticed that they were also making sandwiches to go. This is super convenient as the beach is directly down the road. For a small store, their wine and beer sections are very large. They even have a walk-in cooler so you can grab drinks cold already. We were able to find almost everything we were looking for or missed bringing with us. My only issue with them was the service. We stopped her a couple of times and the two gentlemen that worked here were always friendly and nice. They welcomed us and said hello. The lady who worked here, at the register was not friendly at all. No greeting, she had mean looks on her face and was honestly just not very nice. It was a shame since this is such a little local shop. We will continue to come here. It is convenient for where my family stays and we always run out of something such as bread or forget something. It is a perfect place to grab those last-minute items. I have even purchased some items here for gifts. They used to have a large liquor section that sold local rum, but I did not see that this time. I might have overlooked it though. Ever since the hurricane we are truly happy to see these businesses coming back and will continue to support them when we visit. If you are in the area I would definitely stop here for any last-minute items, you need.
