We were looking for a lunch spot and followed YELPs recommendations to Boostan. The direction took us the wrong way on Holbroke but we finally saw the Red awning belonging to Boostan. This is a small restaurant (only room for 2 tables) so we decided to carry out. While we waited you could see this is a busy place. The aroma made us even more hungry. I ordered a mango smoothie after looking at the huge mangos all around. It was delicious. We had chicken tawook and shawarma sandwiches. One of the best I've ever eaten. The young man at the counter made sure to add humus and a little desert just because we made the trip over to come to their restaurant. Be sure to stop by the door where they have complimentary hot tea that is flavored cardamom and milk oh so tasty. read more

Alright, so I've had some things from here, not bad at all. I like the natural fresh aspect of this place. I'm into halal meat. This place has officially bumped fast food places out since it's affordable/cheap compared to most other places, and it's fresh to boot. I've already bumped fast food places off my quick lunch bites in NYC, but this is my first time doing it here in Michigan. 1) Lamb Shawarma 5/5: I'm not a fan of shawarma in general, with that said it's your basic shawarma. My boy toy swears by it though, and prefers their pricing compared to other places, so when we are around that's what he's getting. The 5/5 rating is by those who ate it when we were together. 2) Double Cheeseburger 5/5: Yum. One chunk of fat that I had to dump, but other than that it was a huge delicious burger. I would have told them no mustard though, but I didn't know it'd be on it. Not a dealbreaker, I'd eat it again even with the mustard, but the mustard was over the top, it saturated the bun. 3) Hot Fries 3/5: Okay so they have a few fries on their menu, hot fries being one. I mistook hot for "spicy". They were just plain fries. They were good, but they weren't spicy. Not an issue, price was no different than their plain fries. Only reason it's a 3 and not a 5 is for the mistake in order, as plain fries i'd rate them 5/5. 4) Boostan Shwararma 5/5: If you've had a crispy ranch snack wrap from mcdonalds, this beats it. the crispy chicken is replaced with chicken shawarma, and fresh veggies are PACKED in. YUMMY. the sauce. the sauce. love it. this is what has led me to wave goodbye to fast food. 5) French Fries 3/5: These were packed with crushed black pepper, which would have been perfectly fine, except they were intended for a toddler. I think these were suppose to be the "hot fries". I enjoyed them tbh; 0/5 for toddler. 5/5 for me because I put fresh black pepper on my fries anyway. 6) 1 out of 5 // Rice: I didn't eat the rice, everyone else did, and everyone else said "eww". we're big on rice. pretty much, just salt and cook it right and we're good. The minute I heard everyone disparaging the rice I stayed away. Idk how rice can be screwed up, but evidently it was. I'm guessing it must have been a bad batch or something since everything else points to good-cookin' skills. Sure, the sandwiches are fairly priced, but lets get real, the meals are not. Same price point as other restaurants. I wouldn't order a meal based on the rice review I've witnessed, but I'll order rice as a side another time and give it a shot first-hand. Their sides are also fairly priced. Personally, it's a nice light lunch place, but if I want a sit down dinner with my boy toy or other people I'd totally go to a different place. I could see myself ordering in dinner from here though. They're faster than Royal Kabob, I'll give them that. Check out their menu prices on their site. I'm not a smoothie fan so I won't be reviewing those, or a dessert fan (the ones they have anyway), but I will be back to review other items as we eat them. I'm in and out of town a lot. read more

Ordered carry out for dinner due to their 5 star yelp rating. And couldn't agree more than everyone else!! Not only are their prices more than fair but so are their portions. I got the Shawrma plate and it is so good! Chicken is juicy, rice is perfect, hummus is generous and authentic. And for those garlic sauce lovers- it's so perfect. I am so glad that my friend and I checked you out! As a vegan, it looked like I would find something satisfying here, and I was right. Not only was my meal satisfying, but the whole experience was so positive. From being able to use a few deals here (checking in on the app and receiving a free mango juice; buying a $10 deal for just $5), to tasting delicious ful; to being surrounded by mangoes; to being heartily welcomed by the friendly and grateful folks running the restaurant; to receiving some extra goodies in our take-away order because we mentioned that this was our first time (we received hommus, pita, and rice pudding); to not being charged anything for going slightly over the $10 mark; this was just a lovely experience! My ful was excellently seasoned, and my friend really enjoyed his felafel sandwich. The mango juice was simply out of this world! I am going to tell everyone about how delicious this restaurant is! Amazing food! The guys were so friendly and the place was clean. We ordered food for 6 people and added a good tip and they threw in hummus and baklava. There are only a few tables so it's primarily takeout, but we were lucky and found seats. I ordered lentil soup, a falafel sandwich, and their tea with milk. It was all so delicious, better than my options in Kalamazoo, which I still enjoy, but man this a step up. If you're spending time in downtown Detroit, it's worth the short drive to skip the crowds and check this place out. read more

The mango smoothie is a signature drink here, really refreshing. The complimentary tea sets this place apart from others in Hamtramck. The food here is AMAZING and so so fresh!!! I'm a visitor her in Michigan (work related) ran across this place on yelp. I was NOT disappointed!! The workers here were super friendly and my food was made to order. I've never fully experienced this type of cuisine but am super glad I did! I ordered the shrimp with rice and lentil soup. I must admit the soup wasn't anything like I expected but was my favorite part of the meal! I will be back and I'm so happy I stumbled across this place. All meals come with houmous (hummus) and let me tell you this was the best hummus I've ever experienced and I eat hummus all the time! If anyone is ever near definitely give this place a visit. I've ordered for the first time ever food from Boostan Cafe last night. It was a delivery order and I'm already hooked for life. First I've been impressed by their outstanding customer service, and on with their high quality food. I've had the vegetarian Grape leaves, the grilled salmon and veggies. It was so yummy that I fell in love instantly. I'm convinced that every single 5 star review here on yelp and their positive comments are no accident. Duuudes and ladies, I think I just found my new favorite shawarma place in Detroit. So my boyfriend and I were meeting up with some friends to go fowling but we were super hungry and didn't want to eat hot dogs so we were on the hunt for some good food and fast. It was 10:30 pm and everything was closing, I pulled up the yelp app and zoomed in on hamtramck and this place was the first on the list. I was like shooot 85 reviews with 5 stars and it's open late! We have a winner! We pull up to this little tiny hole in the wall on the corner and at first we were kinda skeptical. We are running out of time and options so we go in anyways. First thing I notice is the smell, let me tell you it's absolutely delicious. Then I see all these fresh fruits in the fridge, on the counter. Then these 3 nice guys greeted us and asked how our day was going. They were Super engaging and even though it was late they didn't seem like they were dreading being there. I really appreciated the customer service. NOW THE FOOD... we got 2 regular shawarmas and some fries they bag our stuff AND THEN these bros give us 2 mango smoothies on the house. These smoothies were so good! Anyways we got to the fowling place and start eating and the shawarmas are great the garlic paste was really fresh. SURPRISE surprise they gave us bread and hummus too! The food and staff were great. The chicken shawarma is packed with meat and they offer extra garlic sauce for taste. I asked for a sample of the lamb chili before buying and I wasn't disappointed. When I first saw the absolute 5stars of this place at Yelp I thought something is not right. I came here for lunch and I found it way above and beyond 5star . This is a small middle eastern restaurant by Hamtramack. Generous tasty portions of authentic food at a really low price. I ordered a combo for one person and wasn't able to finish it. It came with humus and soup. I addition the manager offered a free bottle of water and rice pudding. The personnel was absolutely polite, caring and nice. They have a free Milk tea for the customers placed in the dining area and asked me to try it. That was a kind of experience!!! Bottom line: excellent personnel, great food and warm environment by these guys running the business. Definitely coming back for more and would recommend everyone to do the same(especially there is a promo running $5 for $10 or free mango juice when you check in at Yelp - I got both of them actually thank to the manager). read more
