We came here for a fun dining & drinks atmosphere on our trip. The bartenders were entertaining to watch with some really interesting drinks coming out and skillful pours and presentations we could watch from almost anywhere in the main room. The decor was fun, though the space is a little tight, so reservations are recommended and if you are planning to eat a full meal, your table may get very full. There were some interesting things on the menu as well but we ended up with the seemingly more standard chicken sandwich meal. It has a good amount of food and flavor was good, though not quite as robust as we expected based on its menu description. The kitchen is very small but they work hard. Go with the expectation that you're there for the experience and enjoy the space while you wait- don't come in starving, and bonus if you're there for drinks as well. It was a fun experience.

Came here for their happy hours which is every day between 5-7pm. During HH, they offer oysters for $1/each which came with two homemade saucem Oysters were good quality and very flavorful. The ambient was speakeasish - dark and secretive. The music was hip and modern. Service was very quick. Drop in and you won't leave with regrets.

Impressive selection of whiskey, absinthe and super creative cocktails! Great music, exceptional service and it's open until 3am. What more could you ask for??!! Highlights 1. The kitchen is open until 1am 2. The most extensive whiskey selection you'll find 3. Ice cream like cocktails (Creative and memorable) 4. Sunday specials - $1 Oysters - live jazz 5. My favorite cocktail bar in Montreal - hands down! Super cool speakeasy vibe...I felt like I was in a James Bond movie. Dimly lit, DJ was spinning some tunes...the vibe was perfect! After a short wait, our hostess got us a seat at the bar. IF you can sit at the bar, do it! Watching the bartenders make their drinks is very entertaining. Our bartender (I think his name is Arnold) was awesome to hang out with. He was engaging, very helpful and simply a master of his craft. The menu is very big...lots of options for whiskey flights as well as a TON of mixed drinks. The bartenders will also make you whatever you're in the mood for. I can't wait to go back!!

Starting off, this is my first ever 1 star review because I am appalled. Initial thoughts: My party of 4 had a reservation at 9:30 and were seated right away. Right off the bat, the atmosphere was amazing with live jazz music and a retro red ambience. We were loving the vibe from get-go, however, things only went downhill from there. Bad service: Our server was a light-blue haired woman with bangs, a stretched out black septum piercing and a bridge piercing, with dark eyeliner. We mentioned that it was our first time here at Bootlegger. However, my friend was checking out the specials on the triangular menu set on our table, curious as to what drink it is he asks our server what the drink consists. Our server laughs in a condescending manner, clearly with disdain and states that it is a coaster, not a drink. My friend, initially interested in purchasing a drink, was now embarrassed for not knowing a drink and was hesitant to purchase at all. Unfortunately, our bad experience did not end there. My party being uncomfortable with the unfriendly atmosphere that the server was treating us, decide to just purchase one drink for now (the Ole Ole) alongside 12 oysters. The server, making a scrunched up face, judgmentally asks us two times, "this? for all four people?". Feeling increasingly uncomfortable we say that is all we want for now. As we wait for our drinks, we notice that our treatment compared to other patrons, was pretty much non existent. As our server smiled, refilled water and replenished napkins of others, we did not get napkins at all and our water was never refilled for the duration of our visit. Additionally, our oysters came a whole 45 minutes after our drinks. Overall, this has been the worst customer service I have ever received ever. The oysters were delicious, the atmosphere breathtaking, but our server's attitude and behavior was heartbreaking. I would not recommend this place at all.

Great selection of whiskey. Delicious and very unique cocktails. $1 oysters at HH. Nice ambience, friendly staff. Make sure to book a reservation because this place is a bit small and gets booked up fast! Would absolutely return

This is where Bar Trois Devins comes in. Ambiance/decor : Very clean (including bathrooms). It has a heavy, sombre feel, with wooden beams and exposed brick, which is very appropriate. Drinks : What differs them from most bars is that they import beers and stay off the mainstream track. Kudos. Their cocktails aren't decorated like Mardi Gras, but very well mixed and taste good. Service : I was actually impressed on how fast our waiter served us, considering the bar was completely full. (to both bring our orders and when we were ready to check out). PRO : Location. Many enjoy the restaurants on that strip, yet feel that their night is cut short due to regular restaurant hours. It's right next to (walking distance) all the restaurants and is open late. CON : Due to the fact that it's one of the only bars in the area, it can sometimes attract a clientele that may not be right for you. If you are with a small or larger group, this would go unnoticed however. NOTE : This could be an interesting place to rent (as a venue). Reason of 3* rating : I was not blown away, considering Montreal is a bar&restaurant capital, but nothing disappointed me or anyone at my table.

Stopped by around 10 on a Wednesday night for a post meal pint. The place itself is very much pleasing to the eye. Reasonably priced draft with craft beers and a lot of imports you won't find most places (from Sam Addams to Bass). Scotch / whiskey collection behind the bar was nothing to joke about and the glass wall cellar was quite impressive. As for the staff, they were relaxed enough to make me believe it might have been the owner / manager and he was really top notch. He kept a good humor going with us throughout our stay without being too intrusive. Would definitely stop by to try their other beers if I find myself back in the area.

We ordered the Paloma mocktail which was extra tasty. Starters were the brioche bread that was baked with a crispy top and the herb butter paired very nice. We also got the asparagus and scallops. I was thinking it would be the whole scallop, but it was cut into little pieces and put on top of the asparagus. For the entrees we got the filet and another steak I can't remember the name?? The filet was cooked to absolute perfection, crispy on the inside and so tender and soft on the inside. We got one of each of the sauces as well as the sides. The butter sauce was my favorite. The asparagus came with such an earthy sauce it was a flavor bomb in your mouth. Service is great, only thing is the server forgot about my Diet Coke for 15 minutes but no worries on that. Very cozy date night spot! Loved everything about it.

Pics and reviews looked great, so we made plans to dine here during our penultimate night in the city. Barroco is located in Old Montreal, right on Rue Saint-Paul. The exterior has really charming curb appeal, and upon entry we were greeted by the same. This isn't a large restaurant, arranged with tables and a few booths throughout the space and a bar on the back wall that serves as a focal point. The vibes were on - the restaurant was tastefully decorated with a mix of old-fashioned fixtures, stone walls, and earth tones. The restaurant was quite lively - the vibes were on. Their drink menu is quite creative; we actually started our evening at the bar while we were waiting for our table and the bartender made some great suggestions - both cocktails I had were really good. The food menu is mostly French inspired; it wasn't extensive but they had a good variety of creative dishes. We decided on two starters - the brioche and the octopus salad. The brioche was fine, it came as one roll with a side of seasoned butter. It was a little on the dry side, and the butter wasn't very flavorful. The octopus salad was much better; the octopus was sliced and arranged on top of a ratatouille which provided a good complement of flavors and textures. For my main I got the OG braised beef. The beef was almost pot-roast style, seasoned with maple and aged balsamic sauce and paired with truffled celery root purée. This was delicious - the beef was super tender, and the sauce provided great flavor. The puree was an awesome side - the entire trip was super comforting and familiar while also being new and interesting. We decided to get two desserts - the madeleines and the olive oil cake. The former were baked fresh and came with a side of chocolate pudding and salted caramel, while the latter came with whipped cream and coached pears. Both were good, but I preferred the madeleines; the warm sponge paired with the chocolate and caramel was a great finisher to the meal. Service was great - everyone from the host to the bartender to our waiter made us feel welcome; they definitely elevated the experience. Overall, I had a great time at Barroco; the food, vibes, and service were all on point. I would definitely consider returning the next time I'm in Montreal.

You walk in and there's a clothing store on one side and black curtains straight ahead. I just stood there confused for a second until someone suddenly appeared and escorted me through the curtains, down a long dark hallway, and into this intimate, dimly lit bar. Turns out, I had accidentally stumbled into a speakeasy. The space is tiny--maybe 6-8 seats at the bar and a long banquet along the wall for 10-12 more people. No menus either. They ask what you like and don't like, then craft a cocktail specifically for you. The pours are generous and the bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor. About a drink and a half in, I realized I needed actual food immediately and had to leave. The staff was friendly, personable, and chatty, and because the space is so intimate, you naturally end up talking with the people around you.
