I'm grateful for a son who's willing to wait in line for over an hour to give me Ube pastries lol…read more I've been trying to get to a Jack Eats pop-up for years, but the timing has never been right...until today! We got the Ube Loaded Cake, Ube Cream Puff, Ube Fatty Cookies, and Ube Blondie. Everything was amazing and, next time, we will definitely get more. Our favorite was the Ube Loaded Cake. I loved my Mother's Day treats!!

While there…read moreis no shortage of great filipino food in NYC, this place does something quite special which is hard to find - merging authentic filipino flavors in a well-crafted, delicious and new way. Everything I've had here is delicious, but here are some of my favorites: UBE BLONDIES *** Probably one of their most signature items that stays on the menu season to season, this crumbly, satisfyingly dense, soft baked good with that nice punch of ube flavor will really have you coming back for more. The frosting glaze is just perfect, adding that sweetness that carries the ube flavor really nicely. The texture is just soooo satisfying, you can just tell when you cut your fork through it that it has this airy, yet dense and crumbly texture. TURON FRITTER Kind of like an apple fritter, but oh so crumbly, delicious, bright, and soft on the inside. Also had their brown sugar boba pudding cup when it came out, and it was really good; the tapioca actually blended quite nicely and was chewy and fresh, which means you're not stuck chewing it forever. Definitely on the sweeter side, but brown sugar items tend to be that way.

Instead it was a Filipino bodega with a few aisles of grocery products, a cooler with frozen food flanking one side, a window at the back to order hot foods & a table at the front for sitting or eating. With respect to bakery goods, there was one almost empty stand at the front of an aisle with a few bags of Pan de Coco. I had called the night before & asked about Ube Purple Bread. She said that she was baking more the following day & would save a bag for me. What they brought out was a bag of 6 rolls with an Ube filling inside. It was tasty but not purple bread. My friend asked about Pandesal. They brought a bag from the back that were larger rolls. She should have asked for Ube Pandesal. These were tasty & soft. But they had no Ube filling inside & were more like a large dinner roll. It would have been nice to see what we were buying before the purchase. Asking if they had a menu, I was told that they eventually would. She was still trying to decide what to put on the menu. I'm not sure I'll return until choices are available. And please, give us a display of the baked goods. Even putting them bagged in the almost empty display stand would help. The store is in a shopping center on the west side of E. Little Creek Road. It is easily accessible for those of us who live in the Shore Drive corridor. The outside is tasteful & well maintained. The inside is definitely a bodega feel.

Since then, my family and I have been back a few times. The concept is creative, and the quality is definitely there. The lumpia is fresh, crispy, and well-made, and I appreciate the variety they offer. It's a fun way to experience different flavor combinations and put a unique spin on a Filipino classic. That said, while I enjoy many of the specialty flavors, I still find myself preferring traditional lumpia. That's more a matter of personal taste than a criticism of the food itself. The fusion flavors are good and worth trying, especially if you're looking for something different. The staff has always been friendly, and the overall experience has been positive every time we've visited. If you're a lumpia fan, it's definitely worth checking out. Even if you end up like me and still prefer the original, you'll probably find a few new favorites along the way.

Well .....when it came to my order it was far from it! I ordered there combo special for the day $15 (3pc of beef lumpia, side of pancit and a drink. I was so excited to try it, but when I opened my pancit it was over cooked sticky and drowned in soysauce that sooo salty!! I couldn't get myself to take another bite! If you look at prior pics of other people have ordered pancit, you know this one I ordered does not even look like it at all!! The beef lumpia was wrapped pretty, but too salty. Had to dip it in the sweet and sour sauce to even it out! Plus you look at my pic of the menu, most of the items we're out! I'm sorry to say I will not be coming back! Gonna stick with my usual reliable place I normally go too!

They didn't have a menu posted, so I was given one when I asked. The food is cafeteria style where your plate is made in front of you. They had several options like fish, pork belly, menudo, lumpia, pancit, rice, sisig, and etc. They also had desserts, chips, turon, and drinks. I chose menudo, pancit, pork belly, and lumpia with a side of sauce for about $15. The prices seemed pretty reasonable. The portions were decent also. The menudo was flavorful and filling the meat was tender but there were a few pieces with fat. The pancit was tasty. It wasn't heavy on vegetables, I wish there were more. The pork belly was crispy and I liked it, but a few pieces were over cooked and had an awkward burnt old flavor. I can't really explain it. But the taste caught me off guard. I enjoyed the lumpia. They had beef inside and went good with the sauce. Their sweet chili sauce is yellow, not like most that are orangeish red. But it was good. The staff was busy. They didn't really talk much, but were nice. They also have a banquet room for private events. I do like their Filipino food more than some other places in the area. Definitely check them out!!

Though a lot of people come in from the naval base and the surrounding area, it's not a super busy spot. This place is very hole-in-the-wall and straightforward. They serve both authentic Filipino food and Poke. People come in for both! This place offers a "turo-turo" experience, like what you would do at places like Panda Express, Moe's, Chipotle, where the entree items/Poke ingredients are already laid out for you and you just have to point ("turo" in Tagalog) at what you want on your plate. Even if you don't know the name of the dish, the staff is very helpful. The nice thing is you don't have to wait for your food to cook! I don't know if this place keeps the same menu everyday, but usually in places like these, the menu changes, so what was offered the day you visited might be different from the next! :) They also offer a unique variety of asian brand drinks on their fridge that you can just grab and pay for on the counter. Overall, our meal + drinks were a cheap price! Everyone in there was incredibly friendly. And the food was good! We had the adobo and the longganisa and it was delicious. But like most Filipino dishes, what is a hit for me might be a miss for some. Filipino food highly varies in flavor based on who cooks it since most households have their own flare and twist on cooking certain dishes. This is one of those things where you just have to go in and try it for yourself and see if you like how they make it! I personally enjoyed the meal and would love to come back to try their Poke! The space itself is very small. Not a lot of seating inside. So more of a to-go joint than a sit-down spot. It also shares the same strip with other businesses, so not a lot of parking either. But if you're looking for a quick lunch on the go, I highly recommend this spot.
