I don't think I have been so disgusted in a LONG time! A beef dip with no dip, as it was notified as already all over the order boxes by driver upon pick up. Beef Dip: A piece of bread with a couple of slices of chewy and grisly beef, NOTHING ELSE, not sauce or dip. Poutine: The poutine was undercooked, cheap fries in congealed gravy. Starving, I tried it and decided to pass and eat chocolate pretzels until dinner was ready. My partner walked through and asked for a bite as he was working and rushing... it went in the garbage... Tried to feed the sandwich to the dog, even he was unimpressed. To send out food like this is an utter embarrassment! Avoid this place at all costs. The Border Crossing is aptly named, if you, like me, get a little uneasy when crossing into the States. This place just puts you on guard for some reason. Let's just say there's a general dinge in the air. Within that expansive general dinge, they have 10 VLTs, a jukebox, and a stage with a dance floor in front. Border Crossing offers a few nightly specials to coax the strays in. Come Friday and Saturday, live music is offered. Thursday night from 9pm - 1am they get a Karaoke Jam going. On Flames game days, they offer $3.25 pints and $9.75 jugs. This place is certainly not a destination pub, but if you're in the area and you're thirsty, it's there. Word to the wise, just like an actual border crossing, make sure you've got your story straight before making the trip - it'll just be easier that way. read more

This is a rough joint, but the food is great for the price. Menu is mainly comfort food, and it's nothing special, but the prices are great. You can get 2 entrees for about $20 and the portions are massive. I wouldn't dine-in, personally, but for a cheap delivery place, Border Crossing is great. Order through Skip the Dishes and you don't have to deal with the clientele or staff. read more

I don't think I'd bring my passport to this Border Crossing. It's a neighbourhood pub with bad food specials every night, drink specials, a pool league and it strikes me as being the centre of a syndicated crime ring, but it might just be coincidence that criminals show up here. In any case, as is my custom, I quite enjoyed it. We watched the Flames lose and had a chat with the barkeep who, despite his hockey team loyalties, turned out to be a decent guy. The beer was $3.75 and we had a good time. There is a lot of pool space here and they offer drunken sots other games of chance and might like hitting the punching bag. I had my back to it and it quickly caught my attention after a guy hit it. Out of the corner of my eye, I thought he was smashing in a vending machine....That would have made sense. I recently moved to the Forest Lawn Area from a rural area in New Brunswick. I must say the Border is one of the friendliest bars I have been to since my arrival here in Calgary. The staff is always welcoming always offering a smile and knowing what you want as a customer. The owners go above and beyond in making you feel welcome. The patrons are loyal to the Border and soon become loyal to anyone that frequents the bar. I must say it is one place in Calgary that always makes you feel welcome. For me it is much like being back home. They offer great entertainment and have many bennifits to raise money or awareness. I love there food and offer great breakfast specials and specials of the day. Bunny and Heather the owners have and continue to do a great job at making everyone feel welcome. Walked in and the first thing we hear is I will suck you off for a beer! We were never even offered a drink. Had to keep our coats on cause its so cold. Tables were dirty. Water in bathrooms is cold only. They only serve there regulars. So it will probable always be a dump. read more

I disagree with the previous reviews. The service has been friendly whenever I've gone there. I like the wing nights and the open mic nights. The Border Crossing is one of a dwindling number of places in Calgary where you can have fun and a bit of a nosh without breaking the bank. I wish there were more places like this and fewer yuppie bars. read more

i was born and raised in calgary areas, been to bowness, inglood, forestlawn, all the suposedly bad places and everyone has an opinion, especialy christopher w. chris you look like a guy that would get bounced out of chucky cheese. if anybody has been there lately the place rocks. great food and great staff with probably the cheepest drinks and food prices in calgay,most of the people that go there are down to earth and some maybe a little scary to look at but when ya talk to them there some of the nicest people you would meet. how many places have bands 4 days a week and twice on sat, plus the events that they have been having is awsome like wrestling in the bar with a ring, wow. once a month this happens with big names and old stampede wrestlers to. the fashion show they had last week was crazy they gourgouse models with very nice clothing. the place is great dont read this crap some people say just check it out yourself garenteed you will have a blast, cheers. read more
