Food is excellent and atmosphere is relaxing. Best steaks in town and the rest of the menu item are extremely good as well.

The food is fantastic-- homemade and served up quickly! I had the special pan seared salmon, roasted vegetables and rice pilaf and he had the ribeye with baked potato, Texas toast, and slaw. Portions are generous and for that, the prices are fair. Side dishes aren't standout but good. The service is attentive, friendly and like family, but not intrusive and the ambience very nice rustic Texas. Tucked under the trees, we must have driven by many times but finally heard about the place from a friend. Highly recommend! Too hungry for pics (sorry) and there is no cell service here and bring cash or you're paying fees at the ATM. read more

One waitstaff, cashier, etc., Food is overpriced. Ordered the chicken breast dinner, everything was cold, waitress didn't even ask about the food. Then to add insult to injury, you have to use the ATM and pay a $4 surcharge. The restaurant inside is one of the nicest around. There is never an excuse for poor service and cold food. Brandy is the waitress and you will get the best service ever from her. If you tend to order the same thing a lot she does not forget. She can manage a restaurant full of people and rarely calls for help. Don't worry Kay is there to back her up and together they do not miss a step. First things first. The bad news. Bring your cashola or use their ATM. End of the world? No. But could be annoying to some folks. We stopped by on a short road trip from the DFW area to look at property close by. While looking at the property, my husband commented that one of the selling features was this restaurant. HA! The nice lady that waited on us was great and the food came out crazy fast. And, to say my husband was happy with his meal is an understatement. They do not skimp on the portion sizes and my husband ended up only eating half of the steak and one side. He happily packed it up in our cooler to take home. But, listen to the waitress when she tells you how big the portion sizes are and accept the "to go" container she drops off. The prices are so much cheaper than we experience at home and the place is Texas decor "rustic" but clean. I have some weird food allergies and they were very helpful with checking on ingredients for me, so I sincerely appreciate that extra effort. This place was good before they moved next door. Then they decided they "couldn't get internet" Even though they had it for a while after they moved to the new place. I think what is going on is...they want to pocket more money and not pay card fees on the machine. The steaks are hit or miss. Went with another couple..we ALL ordered the ribeye steaks. They all got ribeye. I was clearly brought sirloin..and it was tough and over cooked. It was half as thick..half the size...and you could TELL it was not ribeye. I still got charged for freaking ribeye. Another time the service took an hour....that's from the time we sat down to the time we ordered. We were only 4 people in the place. Another time...we were a table of 7... hour wait to get to order...only one other full table. Food was ok this time. We had a friend come in on business...he was going to take people here..he has to use a company card to pay...things like this won't work here. We got up and left. Didn't order or anything. They lost out of a $300.00 bill...easily by not taking cards. Many other friends won't go here for this same reason I can now cook a fantastic steak. No need to go here anymore. The food here was great! We had steak that was cooked perfectly, a little more salt than I like. A little pricey for what you get. THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH! But have an ATM that charges $3.00. There is no Covid 19 precaution in place. My spouse was literally back to back with the person at the next table. Butter and sour cream packets just left on the table for everyone to touch, cough and sneeze on. Then they give you toast that you need to eat with your hands. The staff was adequate at best. If they knew you they stayed at your table and waited on you had and foot. We would of liked dessert, but she just dropped off the check and went back to her friends. So to some this up. First time visit, arrived around 7pm (closes at 8pm), party of 2. Only 1 waitress working 5 tables. She gave us an overview of the top sellers on menu and answered questions, when asked. Did not know it was cash only, until we got there. ATM fee is $3 per transaction. Husband ordered chicken fried steak. He said he has had better, they could have added a bit more seasonings, would have made it better. Baked potato was large and could have fed 2 people. I had the 8 oz hamburger with cheese and sweet potato fries. I thought it was good. Drinks come in large glasses. Straws are not long (or tall) to stick out of glass. You get one free refil, but was never asked if we wanted any. Was asked once how the food was but no other interaction with waitress until I was getting cash from ATM. She told me about the lunch specials and spoke highly of their ribeye steaks. No breakfast only lunch and dinner. read more

Not impressed at all. Ordered the Philly and it wasn't even a Philly. NO peppers, it had 2 huge slices of tomato and lettuce (??? Since when do phillys have tomato and lettuce?!) and it was cold. Cheese also looked like it was sitting out and got dried out. No thanks. Fries were pretty good though. The sodas also had a weird taste to them- I tried 2 different ones (one without ice thinking it was the ice) and they both had the off taste. They have apparently moved into a new building within the last few months, and the building is a nice, rustic themed place. A group of us went for the Wednesday lunch special, which is chicken fried steak, which also comes with 3 sides. The steak was delicious, nice and crisoy outside, tender inside. For sides, I got fried squash, collard greens, and pinto beans. All were very tasty, and in an unusual turn for me, I was stuffed before I finished my plate. I've seen some reviewers complain about slow service, but I didn't see it. We were seated directly, and our server was right there to explain the specials of the day, and take our orders. It's not fast food, folks. Slow down and enjoy a little. They are cash only, but they do have an ATM in the restaurant just in case you need cash. read more

I'm not sure if I just had a bad experience or what. My wife and I went in here the other night. We waited for ever to get a seat, that's fine no biggie. Once our steaks were brought out, they were way over cooked. She and I both ordered medium rare. They came out with little to no pink. Not tender at all. As far as Paris area establishments this is your best choice. The hamburgers are "real" . It is refreshing to be able to eat at a friendly place that offers authentic fries and not the standard frozen ones from Costco. The portions are reasonable. It is always more than I can finish. The new building is beautiful and you're able to carry on a conversation while you dine. read more

Rumor has it that this is THE PLACE for steaks. I made the pilgrimage to Powderly with a rumbling belly to chow down hard. The atmosphere is a bit dated, a little... different than what I would have expected from a serious steak house... but looks are always deceiving. I was heart-broken to hear that steaks are ONLY served on specific days. I guess I should have called ahead?? Either way, after the heck of a drive out there, i decided to try their monster of a burger. I ordered the 18oz burger + corn fritters. It was SO good. This place has good potential, but I'll never be back. Hostess at front was too busy playing on her phone to notice there were customers needing to be seated. Took exactly one hour to get our food. One Hour. The place was not crowded at all and it took an hour. The husband's steak was cold. I asked for medium and got well done and "taters" were cold. We were asked if we needed a refill one time. We were seated right next to the kitchen so I could see the mayflies flying around in there. Not really appetizing. It took them forever to do everything but when it came time to give us our bill they were Johnny-on-the-spot! They earned a star because they were obviously low staffed and the food (once warmed upon request) was decent. Not near the best I've ever had, not even top 30... But it wasn't inedible so they get an extra star. They also has fair prices, however I got what I paid for so be warned. My suggestion if you are considering visiting this establishment is to go the DQ across the street for faster service and hot food. read more

We couldn't stay for our meal because we had our baby with us and apparently they still allow smoking. We asked for our order to be changed to a togo order. Once home the food was not near as good as I anticipated based on previous reviews. Our chicken fried steak was not freshly breaded and was quite chewy. The steak and fries both seemed to be cooked in oil that was not hot enough and that had not been changed in a while. The burger did not seem to be seasoned at all.
