This is a small restaurant with great food and good service. I went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. The pernil was flavorful and tender. The sides were perfect. The grilled chicken was also very good. If they had Coke instead of Pepsi, this would have been even better. I will definitely be back. I have been looking for a good Puerto Rican restaurant, and I have found it!

My husband is from PR and said this is the most AUTHENTIC food you will get from the island in the surrounding Houston area. Everything was cooked to perfection and had amazing flavor. It is a small, but beautiful little restaurant with so many different trinkets that you would see in PR. The service was good and there was some wait time, but worth it for the love that was put into these dishes. We will definitely come back!

Nice cozy, quaint establishment tucked away. I had dinner on a Saturday evening. The service was good. The snapper bites appetizer was fresh and flaky. We also had the empanadas the beef and pastelon--surprised on how big they were. My chicken dish was flavorful as well as my beans. The chicken was a little overdone, but it's all good. Please know there is no beer/wine/cocktail menu.

This restaurant had some great food with an abundance of variety. I met with a coworker to have lunch but the food was flavored perfectly and my palate was very well satisfied. The guy at the counter was the server as well and did a great job of explaining everything on the menu. The place was quaint and very clean.

I happen to catch El Caribeno having just started opening for breakfast on Sunday morning. This is an absolutely do not miss this place. The owners are always present and it is family run. The breakfast torta was absolutely phenomenal. You would think that there are only a few ways to make bacon eggs and cheese but these breakfast sandwiches are next level. Bacon is thick cut and the eggs were perfectly cooked. Also in our order was an Empa Del Campo that was an absolute sweet and savory with a fantastic balance. The restaurant is fantastically clean and has a nice open and airy decor. It was great experience and we will be going back again.

Today my sister, my friend and I decided to try something new and I knew just the spot! It's all our first time here and I must say everything was a 12/10! Soooo flavorful and delicious. Matthew and his family who run the place are really putting their love in each plate they serve. We will definitely be back!!! Thank you Matt and family!

Food was DELICIOUS! Appetizers came out quickly and were good. The alcapurria was big enough to share and full of meat. The empanadilla de pizza was standard size but full of cheese. The bifongo was moist and oh so flavorful and the churrasco was made to perfection. The tripleta was loaded and the bread was soft. This is a small place but the food is consistently good and the service is top notch. This is the 4th time we visit this restaurant and I can say this is the best Puerto Rican food in the Houston area.

Open at 11 and yet not open! Last time we came here!

The restaurant itself was very clean, the atmosphere was nice, and I was happy to see limbers on the menu. Service was also pleasant. But when it came to the food, it was a letdown. The vegetable fried rice had very little flavor, and both the sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken were just okay, nothing particularly memorable. The biggest disappointment was the crab rangoon, which was honestly the worst I've ever had. It lacked flavor and texture, and I couldn't finish it. The tostones needed salt they were a bit too soft too. Overall, I left wishing the food had more seasoning and more of the bold flavors that make both Latin and Chinese cuisine so special. The concept has so much potential, but this visit missed the mark for me. Sadly, the food wasn't something my Puerto Rican ancestors would be proud of. Hopefully it was just an off day, but based on this experience, I don't see myself returning.

While this was my first time to dine here it appeared to me that it is a chain restaurant by the signage and decor. I wanted to try their fried chicken and the prices are quite low so I ordered the 4 pc fried chicken meal that comes with french fries for just $10! I asked for dark meat and they said it would take 8 minutes to prepare. While I waited, I did visit their self serve fountain drink machine. The food arrived in a big bag and after emptying it I found a box with 4 pieces of fried chicken sitting on a large bed of french fries. I was amazed at the quantity of the food given for just $10. The chicken was hot and the fries were not. In fact they were barely warm. Why do you give me fresh cooked hot chicken and old cold fries? On top of that the hot chicken was not that tasty. I have had far better. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either. Yes, the food is inexpensive and the serving size large but give me more taste and flavor both in the chicken and fries.

I've always gotten the fritanga which I feel you can't go wrong with. The fritanga comes with your choice of meat between beef or pork, though there may be another option I'm not thinking of. I've always gotten it with beef (carne asada) which my family and I love. It comes with your choice of gallo pinto or arroz con gandules, and I always get gallo pinto since I'm not a fan of the alternative in general, but never had it here. It also comes with your choice of maduro or tajadas (forms of plantain) and delicious queso frito (fried cheese). Again, this is my go to and will continue to be. The reason I gave 4 stars vs 5 is because of the gallo pinto. I'm blessed enough to have family who has made it my entire life which is way better. It wouldn't be fair to hold this against the restaurant because of this alone, but theirs legit just tastes like unseasoned rice and beans mixed together. Everything else is delicious. We also got their quesillo which is basically a big tortilla covered with beans and cream and cheese. This was a 6/10 for me. Their enchiladas Nica was amazing and huge. Will def get this again. I recommend checking them out if you haven't already!

I took my manager the first time I went last week and was happy to see that she enjoyed the chicken empanada (she's not very adventurous when it comes to trying new food). She ordered 2 but only finished 1. I ate the other one and was blown away by the taste and how full of meat it was! I ordered the plate with Arroz con gandules, and carne frita (fried pork chunks) with platanos maduros. I loved the rice and plantains; the carne frita was flavorful but a little dry. I'm very particular about what I consider to be good food- my parents owned a Puerto Rican restaurant in NJ for 10 years and I judge everything against their home cooked food, and honestly, very few places can compare. I went back yesterday (October 15) after work for dinner. I had the arroz con gandules again (delicious!), but instead of the carne frita, I asked for the cerdo asado- it tasted like it had been cooked over an open flame and was incredible! The maduros were perfect, and I used the dipping sauce as a salad dressing. I washed it all down with medium size jugo de maracuya (parcha), and I was completely satisfied! I haven't tried the Nicaraguan food yet, but if it's a good as the entrees I've had so far, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
