I had a terrific meal at Born and Braised. We started with the Thai basil mussels, which were rich, buttery, and full of flavor, plus the portion was very generous. For my entrée, I ordered the tiger shrimp and grits. The grits were creamy, the blistered tomatoes added the perfect touch of acidity, and all of the components of the dish came together beautifully. My friend ordered the lemon and honey chicken and said it was excellent as well. The atmosphere at Born and Braised feels intimate with a beautiful art deco vibe. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu.

Cuz Ann thoroughly enjoyed her tender lamb shank au jus w carrots & a wedge of mixed grain bread

Evan was our attentive, knowledgeable server who willingly offered his faves as this was our 1st dining experience. Oh, my....fabulous food, immaculate setting, food prepared to absolute perfection! Surely we will return to enjoy our Erie Fine Dining Card promo, as we did tonight.

    Steak and mashed Potatoes

Tried Born & Braised about one week after their opening and let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed! We had a variety of the items on the menu to try and hands down the gnocchi Mac & cheese was the best. I tried to keep my composure and it like the plate (but I did use the duck fat fries to clean it up!). The mushroom toast was equally amazing as was the popcorn ice cream, the steak that melted in our mouths. Like seriously can't say enough good things! Great ambiance / vibe. Can't wait to try their new items they'll be rotating through. The staff were great too. All very attentive and friendly. We'll be back soon!!!

    Popcorn ice cream

My husband and I checked out Born & Braised tonight. It was packed! Everyone did a fabulous job! We both had the lemonade which was great not to sweet or too tart. To start we were intrigued by the smoked fish dip which is smoked in house. Another couple recommended it to us. Definitely did not disappoint. I would go back just for that alone. The presentation is 1000 times better than that we got excited and ate some before taking a picture. For the main my husband had the 1/2 chicken mash potatoes and asparagus which he loved. I had the oxtail and mashed potatoes. The oxtail was perfectly cooked and falling off the bone. Wasn't overly fatty either. Dessert we had the popcorn ice cream. It's like cracker jacks in the form of ice cream. It is very rich perfect for two people to share.

We got a smorgasbord of stuff (of which items I can't even recall right now, but at least one entree salad and drinks), all of which was excellent. Even our picky daughter enjoyed herself. Solid 5 stars! Today, on my way through town on a work trip, I figured I'd stop in to replicate the magic. I opted for the short rib grilled cheese and subbed out the fries for the side of Brussels sprouts. After ordering, the food was out in about 10 minutes flat. Not a reassuring sign out of the gate... The grilled cheese was supposed to have caramelized onions. Now, I'm NOT a raw onion fan, but I can generally tolerate caramelized or fried onion strings on stuff. As you can see in the photo, the onions are NOWHERE near the color they should be to be caramelized. Sauteed? Sure, but they still had a good amount of crunch to them so not even that deeply cooked. Most of the onion leaves were still connected at the root. Also (and fortunately for me and my onion-loving self), the other half had maybe 2 very tiny pieces of onion. The short rib was done quite well and very tender but came in large chunks instead of being evenly distributed throughout the sandwich. There were also a couple rather large pieces of fat in them that was just too much to try and chew through that I had to spit out. The server was very upbeat and kind though and the inside of the place is amazing. Such a cool vibe. Overall, that's one amazing experience and one less than stellar. Being a mid-week lunch, I'm going to assume the A team wasn't on staff so I'll give the benefit of the doubt. I'll definitely come back for dinner another time for sure but I might look elsewhere for my lunch...

In response to Milen D's recent review of Firestones(which I witnessed)…read more I honestly can't decide what's more embarrassing: your experience at the restaurant or the fact that you thought this review was worth posting. You apparently walked in expecting the entire establishment to revolve around your very specific demands, got disappointed, called someone a "clown," accused them of lying, and then produced this barely decipherable masterpiece of nonsense. The staff didn't fail you--you failed to understand where you were, what they offered, and apparently how restaurants work. And judging by the grammar and coherence of this review, I'm not sure you were in any condition to be evaluating anyone else's performance. Being unhappy with a meal is one thing. Throwing a tantrum because a restaurant didn't conform to whatever bizarre expectations you had in your head is another. Do everyone a favor next time: stay home, lower your expectations, and let the adults enjoy their dinner without having to witness another episode of The World's Most Confused Customer. The restaurant got one bad review. You got permanently immortalized as the person who wrote it. I'd say one of those is considerably harder to recover from.

Firestone's pizza has an excellent char, solid sauce and flavorful toppings. The restaurant also has a beer/wine store, and a eye pleasing meat counter/butcher. I have no complaints - friendly service, fair priced pizza for excellent quality, and the liquor section has some charm to the decor. ***From the road, look for Gordon's (even though Firestone Kitchen is the eatery). Gordon's is more prominent from the road.

But each time when im leaving we say, "yeah that was the right move." It's a little further from the Bayfront but it's a lot better than some of the options that are closer. The vibe here is great. So glad that this place has withstood so much turnover nearby. Food is consistently great. Lunch, dinner, even brunch is SOLID. This time, I did the Chicken Cordon Bleu Wrap with tots. Could've just been a silly assumption, did not expect the wrap to be toasted. Now this was on a 100 degree day, so wouldve personally preferred it to be cold this day but all good. Tots are dependable and great too. Wish I received a larger potion though. Was kind of surprise it wasn't like filling the plate and was more a scattered handful. Love this spot though. Great experience, great staff, will absolutely stop back in.

On this visit, we both ordered the grinder, but my first bite felt off -- something was missing. Sure enough, when I lifted the bun, the most important part was missing: the boom boom sauce. It took a few minutes to get our server's attention, but once we mentioned it, she quickly brought sides of the sauce for us. After adding it ourselves, the sandwich tasted the way it should, though the bread was a bit dry since the sauce wasn't baked in. I'll also note that we typically visit for lunch, but this trip was later in the evening. The vibe was very different -- louder crowd, mostly college kids, and slower service due to how busy it was. We'll probably stick to lunch visits going forward, since that's when we've had the best experience.
