Came here for dinner without a reservation. The host sat us at a tiny table in the corner, so we asked to move to a booth near the open kitchen. Leslie and Ross ended up taking care of us, and they were super attentive all night. We had the roasted beet salad, the cowboy burger, and the orecchiette primavera. Good flavors and portions, and everything was nicely presented. The bar area was packed and it was not too loud. We could talk without raising our voices.The only weird moment was when we first walked in and requested a different table, and the host said the booth was reserved and did not offer any other alternatives. We ended up having a great meal and that booth stayed empty the entire time. There was only two other tables occupied in the whole dining room. The bar was full, but the restaurant was otherwise quiet. It just felt like an odd choice not to accommodate us. It's not the only booth, if their reservation actually shows up. Alternatively another table could have been offered. It didn't affect our tipping or how we felt about the staff. But it explains why people might just grab a seat at the bar instead of committing to a tiny table. read more

I was very disappointed with the food here. I will give major praise to the front of the house/waiters. Very kind, offered a new/remade dinner, and took the charge off. I turned down the new meal based on the first one. I had the Winter Chicken dinner. The chicken portion was huge, had ok flavor. The gnocchi looked like scallops. I've made homemade gnocchi, had it at other restaurants, I come from an Italian family. My best description would be the size of scallops and the flavor and texture of a plantain. Couldn't even cut it with a knife. Not what I was expecting, not even close to anything I've seen called a gnocchi, turned me off of the whole dish. I had a Caesar salad, great flavor completely wilted lettuce, soggy croutons. Because of the taste I would normally look past the wilted lettuce, but for the prices here the quality of the food should be way better. I will most likely not be back due to prices and the food experience, but it is a beautiful, spacious restaurant and the staff are the main reason this didn't get a 2 or 1 rating. read more

I hate giving them a 2.5 star review, but this is my 3rd visit with very slow service and food served ice cold. This is the 2nd overcooked steak too that was served cold :(. For spending hours there on expensive cold food and overdone steak I just can't give a 3 or 4 star no matter how nice the staff, drinks, shrimp cocktail, and atmosphere are. Our last visit we spent over 2 hours there the night of the Teddy Swims concert. We waited so incredibly long we couldn't wait longer to have my bland ice cold cognac wild mushrooms redone, the ice cold overcooked steak redone, or the ice cold mac'n'cheese redone. 2 other tables outside with us sent meals back 1 had a complaint (which the manager handled well with a comp) and the other said their food was ice cold and unacceptable so they sent it back. All together I've been 5 times. 2 were phenomenal and 3(especially the last time) were not on par. We may never go back even though they have my favorite shrimp cocktail in all of Pennsylvania. -Cocktails/bar 5 out of 5 stars. Bartenders and every drink are always spot on and fast. -Atmosphere inside and out 4 out of 5 stars -Cleanliness 5 out of 5 stars -Shrimp cocktail 5 out of 5 stars! Omg THE BEST! -Mac'n'cheese flavor is 5 out of 5 stars, but the last 2 times I got it it was ice cold. -Steak flavor has always been great 5 out of 5 stars, but it's been cold 2 times and overcooked 2 times. Cognac glazed wild mushrooms 2 out of 5 stars. They we served ice cold, very chewy, and bland. I had to flag down my waiter for salt and pepper. -Crab cake 3.5 out of 5 stars since it was ice cold, but had a good amount of crab meat. -Staff are always very friendly 5 out of 5 stars there, but getting food from the kitchen to our tables before it's cold has been an issues 3 times now. -Speed of service 2 out of 5 stars sadly. Last time our waiter didn't even bring our food or refills outside, a female bartender did. I've had her inside before and she was great inside! Wednesday evening slip ups! The Cork 1794 is a great addition to Erie situated in the West Erie plaza since 2018! On this innocent Wednesday evening, I had planned a birthday dinner for my mother to celebrate in part her 70th birthday ! My brother and I showed up early to surprise our mother who was being brought to the restaurant with my sister! We were situated in the dining room close to the kitchen which was nice! However, we also noticed that the surprise would be for not at that table, so we opted for a nice table outside! The cork staff was quick into action and helped us get rearranged to the outside table! Bonus points: we were told that the restaurant happy hour applied outside and at the bar. So now we can enjoy happy hour drinks and food (Ok great). The surprise went off well and now all four of us were situated at the outdoor table ready for service. We started out with a round of drinks which included the following! 2 espresso martinis, One garden party gimlet, and a 007 dirty martini! All drinks were done well and I think priced well for happy hour! For appetizers, we went with the summer burrata and spinach and artichoke dip! Both dishes were good, however, the summer burrata seemed overdone with a lot of peach chutney and cashews! Side note: the bread that came with it seemed like Texas toast! For mains, we went with the rigatoni a la vodka, shrimp papadora pasta, into scallop tagiatelle pastas! For my scallop dish, I opted for risotto instead of pasta! My scallop dish with risotto was well done. However the risotto was overly salty. The other scallop dish seemed really well done too and no complaints there. However, the rigatoni dish added Chicken to come with it and unfortunately the chicken breast was completely dry and tasted like it was microwaved. Thankfully the staff brought out a new chicken breast that was done well. The rigatoni in the dish was completely overcooked though and redefined the definition of al dante! My sister's shrimp pomodoro pasta was said to come with San marzano tomatoes. However, after trying it myself, I could confirm it tasted more like tomato paste and gritty (unfortunately). Despite these issues we experienced, The service was good and the drinks and apps were fair. The price for the mains however, did not live up to expectation which has not been the case when we've come here before which was about a 8 months to a year ago. With that in mind, and looking to Celebrate a birthday, we opted to head to Mí Scuzi for some delicious cheesecake . read more

We were told that there weren't any available, but when I pointed out that I had a dog, the manager was able to accommodate us in just a few minutes. Glad that we didn't stay inside as it seemed very loud. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out on the patio. Service was attentive, if overstressed and sparse. I had several dishes in mind but asked the server's recommendation and went with it. When the food arrived, the dish in front of me was one of my choices and after the delicious cocktail, I wasn't sure if that had been my final selection. This is also true of my dining companions. Turns out, we all got the wrong dishes, they were actually intended for another table. That's a big mistake on the restaurant, Of course, since they were already served, they threw them out and had to prepare new ones for the unfortunate table that had already waited. Shortly afterwards, our correct order came out, but the food runners auctioned off the plates. At this level of dining, are position numbers not used? My scallop dish with pasta was room temperature and had begun to congeal into clumps, heading towards cold and it was to be served with broccolini, but came out with asparagus without explaination. My friend's steak was much under the medium that he had requested. Reminder to not order the pasta as it doesn't appear to be made fresh per order. It took a while to flag down the server, who took the steak back to be further cooked, but on its return, it was now well done. Since the others had almost finished their meals, he decided to just swallow the dry steak (with an unfortunate amount of gristle). When the reservation was made, it was mentioned to be a birthday celebration, but the server was not made aware, until he just happened to ask if we were celebrating anything particular. They did send out a scrumptious Creme Brule, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The most preposterous event however was the endless infomercial for www.getezwell.com, being shown on all 3 exterior screens for the entirety of our dining experience! I did mention this to the manager, who said, "Oh, that shouldn't be happening", and yet it continued and wasn't changed. The bread for the BLT was labeled as sourdough but it just seemed like Texas toast to me. The fries were quite good. They have lots of searing including a function room. They were a bit scattered when we arrived and didn't give us brunch menus after welcoming us to brunch. They took a while to locate the brunch menus when we asked to see them. Staff were nice and service was fine. We stopped o while driving through so I probably wouldn't go back but I think I probably just didn't order their best item. read more

My boyfriend and I visited friends in Erie and they took us to their favorite restaurant-- The Cork. It was over the weekend so it was busy and they had live music. We got a nice table after a short wait that flew by because we were enjoying the music and having drinks. All the staff-- hosts, bartender, server, and "wine expert" who helped us determine what went well with our meals (we were a little clueless), were so friendly and helpful. The menu offered a nice variety and service was responsive and fast. We could still hear the music at our table but heard each another throughout our conversation. We will go back to The Cork in a when we are in the area again, with or without our friends! read more

Big fan of this place, where I've been a couple of times now. Sat inside once, where it's luxurious feeling, and outside on the patio, where they have a large screen TV, fireplace, space heaters and are even dog-friendly. It's in West Erie Plaza which is essentially a strip mall, but feels upscale and homey all at once, with hanging lights and a wonderful vibe. The food is wonderful, too. It's a slightly upscale price point -- think $30 for your main dish, $15-20 for an app and $16 for a cocktail -- but it's thoughtfully done food. You can tell this is a chef-driven restaurant, with attention to details, local and seasonal ingredients. It aspires to be one of Erie's best fine-dining restaurants and it hits the mark. Service is attentive and helpful, happy to provide knowledge and recommendations on the menu. On the visit where I took my dogs, I ordered a side plate of grilled chicken breast for them and it mistakenly came out on top of my pasta dish, which didn't work for me as a vegetarian. Our server was super apologetic, worked on getting me a new plate ASAP and even offered a side salad while I was waiting. That was unnecessary but above and beyond. The food was the most bland, unseasoned meal I have ever had. Think "hospital". Starting with the drinks, perhaps too foo foo and not enough substance. I was thinking they didn't even put alcohol in my "Magical Mojito". Plenty of color and garnish, but no taste. The service was OK but it didn't make up for the food. The decor and ambiance didn't look half bad, perhaps even hoity toity, but again, it didn't make up for the food. Not only would I not return to this restaurant, I felt ripped off. We rode our bikes (6 miles) on the Peninsula & were starved. I am so glad we went to the cork for lunch. It was really a treat and really loved this restaurant. The menu is fantastic! There are a lot of refreshing choices. I had to have a mimosa, which was absolutely delicious. The watermelon and feta salad was unforgettable! I had to try the Philly cheesesteak eggrolls, which were out of this world. I couldn't finish so took half home & they were still delicious reheated in the toaster oven. By far my favorite date night restaurant and bar in Erie. Hands down. The cocktails and mocktails are always on point. Food is super high quality. I love the fire cracker shrimp appetizer and half chicken entree but we try to order new items whenever we go out. Recently, we had the lobster & butter app and it was to die for. We have been to cork 1794 quite a few times even before they moved from North East. The food has always been great and the service has been amazing. Our latest visit we tried some dishes off their new menu they recently launched. The cider braised chicken was fantastic and had some great flavors to it. The jambalaya did not hit the mark for us but our server Taylor was so understanding and quickly helped us find something we liked! My husband and I decided to go out today for a lunch date - something nice rather than the standard diner/chain restaurant fare. At first, I was afraid we would be sorely disappointed, but Mallory saved the day! We thought sitting at a table would be nice since we usually sit at the bar, but the table was not a good idea. We were sat at the first table as you walk into the restaurant. One side has a chair and the other side has a wood-plank seat. It was so uncomfortable! Also, even though we were seated first, the waiter chose to wait on a table of six first. I get it - they're the bigger tip, but he could have at least given us water and menus first! Mallory was working the bar and the patio, but she took the time to bring us water and menus. We decided that, if Mallory was going to be the one waiting on us, we should go sit at the bar (she was obviously doing more to earn our tip more than the other guy). That was the best decision of the day! She is always fun to talk to and she takes excellent care of the people in her area. So thanks to her, the lunch date was saved! To the guy who chose to wait on the other table - you lost out on a 25% tip. I hope the table you chose tipped that well. read more

The online reservation app made securing a reservation fast and easy. We were immediately seated upon arriving. Drink orders were taken, and I ordered a nice pinot noir and one of our party members ordered a pinot grigio. Hubby, ever the tea totaler, ordered a pop. He is so fun. Lol. We ordered three appetizers, the Naan with whipped feta (simply devine) and the Philly Cheese Steak Egg Rolls (even more devine). The Shishiyo Peppers, our third, were quite delicious as well. For entrees, my hubby's homemade pasta was quite good and perfectly al dente. The shrimp and grits with pork was rich and filling. I've had this place recommended a few times, I finally got a chance to check it out. The menu all looks fantastic, but I was just in for lunch this time. I got the crab bisque and the winter salad. Both were excellent. The crab bisque had a unique twist, it was in what I believe was a curry base. And had a splash of oil seasoned with what I think was rosemary or thyme. Amd the salad was a nice mix of cold weather veggies and feta cheese and horseradish vinaigrette. I enjoyed every bite! It is a bit pricey, but they deliver great quality for the money. read more

The Cork 1794 is a very nice and bit expensive restaurant that also offers private dining, takeout/pickup, and catering. This restaurant is my husband's and my favorite restaurant in Erie. We ate lunch here on a Friday. An employee kindly and promptly seated us at a spacious and clean table. Our waiter provided excellent service throughout our meal. Here are my reviews for our foods: Jumbo lump crab cake - $26 - 4.5 stars - One large crab cake contained lots of real crab meat. It was served with greens, lemon, aioli, and saltine crackers. Kobe meatballs - regularly $22 - 5 stars - The first meatballs that were brought out had raw red meat! My husband told the waiter, and the waiter apologized, took the meatballs back to the kitchen, and returned with cooked meatballs. These meatballs were made from kobe beef and were covered in marinara sauce. I do not usually like meatballs, but I thought that these meatballs tasted delicious! On the side was garlic bread that was nicely crispy and buttery. 8-ounce filet mignon - $58 (may vary) - 5 stars - Both my husband and I ordered filet mignon. As we had requested, my steak was cooked medium, and his was cooked medium-rare. These steaks were juicy and flavorful. My husband ate his steak with bernaise sauce ($5) that he seemed to enjoy. Asparagus - $7 - 5 stars - This asparagus was grilled perfectly, and it was topped with olive oil, romano, and lemon. Truffle fries - $6 - 5 stars - These fries were perfectly crispy, and they had a tasty flavor of truffle salt. Chocolate-covered berries drink - regularly $12 - 5 stars - This alcoholic beverage contained chocolate rum, liqueurs, espresso syrup, and cream. It tasted very good. Because the meatballs had been initially served raw, at the end of the meal, the waiter comped the meatballs, and he offered us a free dessert. The creme brûlée that I wanted was not available, so he instead comped my beverage. Very generous! During my next visit to Erie, I will definitely eat at this restaurant again. read more

Delightful! Delectable! Definitely a win! This restaurant is impeccable with its service, attention to detail, and high-level dining. A group of colleagues and I enjoyed dinner and conversation in this perfect location - the atmosphere was welcoming, and we had no trouble hearing each other even though the place was full. Our server was prompt and polite, and she always had a smile on her face. I had the Pork Osso Bucco, and I loved every bite! Others were very pleased as well. I grew up in Erie, and I can safely say that we have never had a restaurant of this caliber before! Erie is full of casual mom and pop businesses, which are great, but this restaurant really levels up the west side of town. A great spot to visit especially as someone who now lives out of town. The ambiance was classy and upscale, and the staff were very friendly. It's the kind of restaurant that even has cute eclectic glassware. We started with the calamari and the lobster and butter, and the lobster and butter was such a standout for us. This was exactly what it sounds like - generous pieces of lobster meat soaked in a jar of butter and olive oil and all things good. Pair that with the perfectly crisped but freshly soft bread that accompanies it, and you get one of my favorite appetizers to date. For mains, we enjoyed the pan-seared salmon and the surf & turf. The salmon was mild and sat on a bed of tasty risotto with Brussels sprouts - the dish was full of flavor but not overwhelming! The detail of the pomegranate arils added a fun holiday touch to the dish that I really appreciated. The surf and turf was excellent as well - it had a real southern feel to it with the grits and medley of proteins. As someone who loves both New England dishes and southern comfort food, this little restaurant in Erie nailed both. Kudos! read more

I will start out by saying the ambiance is a 10/10, super cute inside. I had been here once before for a weekend brunch which was very good. This time around I had lunch and it was okay. We found out while we waited for our food there were specials for the day that our sever didn't tell us (the specials sounded better than some of the menu options!). They were unable to make me an espresso martini because they didn't have espresso beans, so i stuck with my water. Food Wise: fries were over salted (and i love salt lol), salad was mid, but the crab bisque was very good! I would only come back for the brunch though, as this menu and service was disappointing for my birthday outing :( read more

We went to the bar for happy hour, and it's a lovely looking bar. The cocktails we had were delicious. In fact we liked them so much that we had a second round. We ordered the calamari appetizer while seated at the bar because we had a 6 PM reservation. It was a Monday though so we didn't really need a reservation because it was not very crowded. The calamari was good except it came out super quickly and was not that hot. The main reason I chose this restaurant was because we had never eaten there, and because they had eggplant moussaka on the menu. Both me and my husband wanted to order the eggplant... And as we were getting ready to order, we overheard our server tell the table next to us that they were out of eggplant. What!? So we were extremely disappointed by that because that was the only reason we came there and there wasn't anything else that we particularly wanted on the menu. So he had a salad and I had a burger, which was fine but not what we were looking forward to. I had asked for my burger medium, but it was definitely well done although the flavor was OK and it was large. My husband's wedge salad was good. We also shared a bowl of crab bisque, and the soup was good. It was a nice looking place inside and more upscale. We would definitely try it again. I've been traveling to Erie quite a bit for work and I've had the pleasure of trying various restaurants during my visits. Cork 1794 was definitely something I wish I had found earlier. We went there on Wednesday evening at 7pm with little notice to the restaurant and they were able to accommodate us. We had our puppy along on this trip and they have a lovely dog friendly patio with 2 televisions and fireplaces on both ends. The patio was just about full and the inside was packed. The service was responsive, fast and friendly. We decided to start with calamari and crab artichoke dip for the table. The calamari was pretty average but the supping sauce was delicious. I loved the crab dip it was piping hot with large chunks of artichoke and creamy crab the bread it came with could have been toasted but this was a great appetizer. For entrees I tried the surf & turf and all I can say is "whoa" this bowl is bursting with flavor and it's a hearty portion of grits topped with braised short rib, sausage and large shrimp. This entree is enough to share or eat over a few meals. While I loved it was a bit on the oily side. My partner and colleague both ordered the brick chicken and it was beautifully plated with a nice portion of chicken and fingerling potatoes atop a gravy like spread and garnished with feta cheese. I didn't get a chance to try it but both plates were clean so that's a sign! I'll definitely return to cork 1794 again in the future and look forward to trying more entrees on the menu. read more

This is a nice treat out. I only had the Caesar salad and some drinks but it was the best Caesar salad I've had and both cocktails were amazing and I was definitely feeling it when I left. I was really looking forward to eating here. It turned into a very disappointing experience. I was trying to treat my wife and mom in law to a great meal. We started with the calamari. It was ok but a small portion. Mom got the half brick chicken. It was dry and had some very weird tasting sauce? It's a good thing she asked for it on the side. She had to ask for garlick to make it more edible. The wife got the monkfish. Small portions. She says, " it was underwhelming. Red lobster was better for the price" I got a pasta dish that was OK. It had a good flavor, but for the high price, the portion was pitiful. I am giving 2 stars because the quality, quantity, and taste of the food do not match the high price. read more
