This place is absolutely delicious. The only reason I struggled to give it five stars is because of the parking situation, which is awful. If you can find a way to get here though you absolutely should. I've been here a couple times and had people bring me things from here and I'm always very happy. My favorite thing I ever had here was a chocolate peanut butter pie, which was mind blowingly good. However, everything I've had from here has been pretty spectacular. I highly recommend the cookies here. I really love cookies, but their brown butter cookie is incredible. The pastries are really good too. I really enjoy the glazed croissant and I recently had a lemon twist that was very good. Finally, the sandwiches that I've had from here are both really good as well. We stopped by for lunch on our way across the state. We ordered two sandwiches and a chocolate cruffin (croissant made into a muffin shape). We weren't sure we should eat in our car or the bake shop, but are very glad we decided to eat in the shop. The sandwiches were the most messy sandwiches we have ever eaten. There was so much mayonnaise tasting sauce. The crust was too hard to eat, but the bread itself was great. The sandwiches aren't cut, which made eating even more difficult as it was near impossible to bite through the crust. We ended up with a pile of soup/sauce on the napkins we had to put on the table under where we were eating. No plates are available. If I ordered a sandwich again, I would ask for minimal or no sauce. The cruffin was great, but again, very messy to eat. Ordering is at the counter (or online) and when the screen is flipped around, the screen shows a suggested tip over 20%. This is before even receiving your food. I couldn't find the no tip option and chose the lowest amount which was 15% or more. My total was over $40. If I stopped by again, I may buy a loaf to go and a chocolate croissant (to enjoy at home). read more

The corned beef with cabbage sandwich was pretty good. The strawberry dessert muffin (or whatever it was called ) was a masterpiece of a dessert. The strawberry icing actually tasted like strawberries in the most amazing way possible. There is comfy seating which I was not sure of initially so that's a plus! They have an array of pastries as well as several types of sandwiches. Drove here with my daughter because we love the freshly baked goodies. Delicious bread. My daughter also loves the granola! Highly recommend ordering online for pickup as it will substantially reduce your wait time. The line gets long and after you order you then have to wait for the order to be packed. Always delicious, we went early to pick up our order and my husband ended up buying an apple pie while we were waiting. Since we were so early the line wasn't terribly long, but even with being there at 7:06 and preordering online before going, it still took 15 minutes to get our order. If you wait till after 8am, it takes even longer to get your stuff, so make sure you go early! The pastries are delicious, and my nephew and I love to eat the four cheese sourdough. I bought 2 loaves since we eat them over the week while we are down here. We always make sure to go whenever we come since we live in TN and we don't have one up there. Born & Bread Bakehouse is the place I measure up every other bakery in Lakeland and the surrounding area. NO ONE has Cinnamon rolls that can compare. Their cruffins are flaky outside and the perfect amount of filling wrapped in the layers but the icing drizzled over the top makes them an experience. Their sourdough bread loaves are so good it is hard to not eat an entire loaf in one day! Their store itself is adorably eclectic yet rustic. You can dine in but getting a seat will be a major challange because they are so busy! You are best to order ahead since the line stretches down the block to get in on a normal day. Holiday pick up is insane! But the wait is worth it. But, check their hours as they are only open a few days a week. If you really need a B&B fix, you can find a limited selection of their offerings at Publix in Lakeland (Miriam Square I believe). It wont be quite as fresh, but when it tastes so good, will you really notice? LOL read more

You have to drive around and park in the back thank God, a former marine who happened to be their mailman told me how to get in the back door! Yeah it's a weird order/service process but I guess it works for them; like the 5 loaves of bread displayed in a basket at the beginning of the line; we go to order & are told "Those are all spoken for...reserved...bought" HUH!? "But we have some that didn't raise all the way, we're selling for $3...here I'll show you" She walks over grabs a gorgeous, albeit flatter loaf. We say, we'll take it! AND SHE WALKS IT ALL THE WAY BACK! It's the process, she takes the orders, somebody else fills it. So we waited for our loaf, a Brown Butter Chocolate Walnut Oat cookie, Berry Cobbler & 2 coffees with a clutch of people crowding the register. Seems it's just part of the experience. I love me some Born and Bread. I've been coming here for years, before they were ever open multiple days a week! Friends and I would drive all the way from Tampa just to get some of their goodies - worth it!! The ordering system is a bit more complicated now, but it's easier to get what you want because they're open more days a week. I still highly recommend doing an online order for pickup though. Every single baked goods and sandwich that I've had is incredible. I cannot emphasize enough that they knock it out of the park, always, every time, never had a miss. Their coffee is nothing to write home about, but that's not why you go (go to concord coffee after grabbing your goods for an elite combo). This bakery has some amazing food. We've only been a couple times and it's usually pretty busy, today was actually a pretty chill day since the line only had one group of customers in front of us. I ordered the peanut butter cold brew and it tasted strong of peanut butter. I love it. I also ordered the almond croissant which is just fantastic, I've gotten it every time. I forgot to take pictures of the other stuff we got but it was also delicious. The sausage biscuit, baklava cheesecake bostock, and the hot cocoa cruffin. The almond croissant is my favorite, along side the cinnamon roll they have. Only issue is it took 30 minutes to get our items, which it feels like shouldn't take more than 5 minutes for any order when all the pastries are already done and directly behind the cashier. Should just be able to pluck them off the racks and hand them to you. 30 minutes was a bit over the top. Otherwise it would be 5stars. read more

Sooooo, I've been wanting to go to this bakery for ages now but never make it in time...until now... Wow!!!! I'm at a loss of words. I'm secretly eating my chocolate chip cookie I got to-go for when my kids went to bed. I'm pretty sure all moms are nodding their heads now...been there, done that! This cookie was phenomenal! So chewy on the inside and crunchy on the edges. This was $4 well spent! As for the other food we ordered (croissant, biscuit egg broccolini sandwich, granola, hot dog deliciousness), it was excellent too! I saw this place online and decided I needed to make the drive from Orlando to try it out! A friend and I came on a Thursday to avoid the weekend crazy and got there around 11:30. I was worried about parking and seating but we lucked out with both. When we got inside there was only had one other person in front of us. The line did grow to the door while we were there but they move through it quickly and everyone seemed to be able to sit that wanted to. There is additional seating outside as well as ample parking in the rear. For sandwiches we tried the Turkey Swiss and the chicken salad. Both were delicious and of ample size. My only complaint is they didn't cut the sandwiches in half which is an issue when you want to share or even eat it yourself as it is a large sandwich! The turkey also had a herb mayo on it that was very garden fresh. I wasn't sure I liked it but it grew on me. We also tried the peanut butter ice coffee and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Both were very good and the PB one wasn't as strange as I thought it would be. However the Vietnamese one was the true stand out. We got cruffins (Vietnamese coffee and Boston cream) as well as cookies to go. The Boston cream one was good and flaky but the cream had an odd taste to it that I can't place. The cookies were very cake like (puffy) but had good flavor. Would I drive over an hour to go again? I'm honestly not sure but if I was in the area I would absolutely stop again. read more

I stopped by here on the way back from Tampa and wow this place did not disappoint. It's been a couple of weeks and I still think about born and bread occasionally lol! I absolutely loved their banana bread muffin and it was vegan; it was so fluffy and moist and filled with cream on the inside which was delicious and just complimented the muffin so well! I also ordered the sausage + hot honey breakfast biscuit, which was also pretty good; my only complaint was that it was a bit on the oily side and more sweet and less hot than I imagined. I paired this with the peanut butter latte, which for someone who loves peanut butter, I did not like it at all! I've never had a PB latte, but I also don't think I did well in pairing it with other sweet items. Overall, the staff here is so kind. The wait for our food was a bit long but this place gets some good foot traffic. I love the southern rustic aesthetic it has. All the pastries are out for display which makes it tempting to not want to get everything, but everything looks so fresh and delicious. Every time we go here it's always a hit! If you go on a weekend, be sure to preorder the night before so you can go straight to the pickup line. When we first visited they were only doing online orders, which went very smoothly. Last Saturday, we just decided to stop in this time, and did wait a good hour. Pro top, you can pre-order the day before and skip the line. They rotate new items and they had a lot of fall stuff but I was unfortunately too late, all sold out by the time I ordered. :( We ordered the olive loaf, $7. I feel like it's an absolute must if you like olives and sour dough! For sweets, we got the bourbon banana chocolate croissant (my favorite, I had to order it a second time and I typically don't like to order the same thing), the salted sea salt cruffin and the Cuban Frito.
